I lived at Lauras Home back in 2015 with my son. Lauras home was the best place for me. I got closer with God they taught me to put God first in all that I do. The rest would be added. If it wasnt for Lauras home I wouldnt be where I am today. It was a life changing experience when you really put your all into it. The love of christ was there . One awesome place

BEWARE!!! Theyre like a cult!!! If you dont work youre REQUIRED TO GO TO CHAPEL AND WORK CLEANING THEIR FACILITY 3 HOURS A DAY. The food is awful, and they only give you 30 minutes to eat it. Theres no exceptions even if you work your expected to figure out out on your own. Im not sure where all these private donations are coming from, but its very important for these donors to know what their moneys going towards. Its definitely not toward the residents, food, or even keeping up the facility. The social workers are pocketing the money. Im sure at one point this facility really did help out women, but something tells me they somehow manipulated these women to leaving these comments and reviews, if not the staff. Charity House is definitely a better solution for women in need, that treat you with dignity, and actually want to see you succeed.

I was there with my 2 boys when they were very small back in 2016. It was one of the biggest blessings in our lives. To be cared for from a place of love from God (to me it was evident). God is in that place. Theres nothing you need to worry about being there except getting yourself together. Nothing else. I need that again. Im honestly in a position that I dont want to be. Im thinking of coming again.... but this time Im working and my job will be further away from there. Can we even work while were there? Also my kids school is close to me right now.... even though theyre doing virtual school. They are scheduled to be back in the school building in a couple of months.Plus how is the population with the pandemic? Did it shorten? Please let me know cause I need a new start again. Not living with a man, friend or family member.

I cannot explain how much Laura’s Home has done for my family. This is more than just a shelter. Everything that you need is under one roof. I am truly thankful for everything. If you are in need and truly want a new start Laura’s Home is the place. You will be fulfilled spiritually, nurtured physically, and enlightened mindfully. I thank God everyday for this place. It’s truly a blessing. Thank you!

This place is truly amazing, first time I’ve ever felt peace, love, and safe all in one place. This place has helped me set goals for my future, which I haven’t had any in a long time. I’ve obtained my high school diploma, I’ve learned behavior skills, and now I’m setting boundaries for the first time in my life. The staff here truly cares, they are dedicated to seeing you succeed. I’ve never felt more like I belonged somewhere then here. So big thanks to the city mission for the vision that God gave them to help thousands of people each year, y’all the real MVPs. 💯

Lauras home is fulfilling its mission to enable women and children in need to live with hope and clarity. Graduates from this program whom I have met express their gratitude. On a tour of the facilities, I saw a beautiful space created for children.

Lauras Home is an amazing place for women and children to live in a safe, healthy, respectful environment. It gives them the opportunity to heal, grow and learn while they are trying to gain back control over their lives. I have been volunteering here for years and have seen first hand what a wonderful gift and blessing this is for those in need. The staff whole-heartedly supports, respects, and cares for every single person that walks through the doors. I can vouch 100% that all donations are used for the residents only. This is an upstanding, above board, transparent organization on all fronts. God continue to bless their efforts for people in Cleveland.

I stayed there for 6 months. It was really nice in the beginning. But they dont want you to work. The program is really designed for people who have become homeless do to poor relationships, poor social emotional skills, and abuse. I feel they should be more open and focused on job skills and trainings ( 6 months - 1 year on-site job trainings that gives them a certification in a job) on site, that sets the clients up for success as well financially, as well as an actual budgeting class on site ( they have general one on one but a class would be very helpful), and personal skills (I needed my drivers license, and a car) They can have an almost controlling ideal of where you should be in life. I wanted to pursue a career and training in the Lactation field but they wanted me to do their program which is group Counseling based and spiritual counseling in a variety of ways to deal with any issues in relationships, SEL, and DBT. I personally felt very stressed towards the end of my stay having a couple of break downs. Their program isnt a one size fits all, and if you are coming here and need a month to get your feet back up then it works. Sometimes the way they make people leave wasnt in the best or most helpful way. Some of the case workers are nice. Some staff are really nice. Im grateful for being here because it gave me and my newborn a place to stay during some financial hardships I faced with little to no family. It was God sent when I needed and God looked out for me when they had me leave. God is good in any circumstance you face. Also the food ordeal. Please change that. Meal times were630-730Am1130-1230pm500-600pmAfter 630pm theres no food. You cant bring food in unless you have special circumstances (I was breastfeeding). But theres 12 hours between your next meal and many kids and adults were hungry after 6. Not ideal. They sometimes had snack after chapel but they stopped it then started it and chapel was only about 3 days in the 7 day week.

I have read all of the comments (most of which are great) but some are definitely not. I am a 47 year old woman with a 10 year old and need a safe, peaceful place to stay until I can get housing. I am concerned and scared as I have never been in a situation like this. Is this place safe for me and my daughter? I dont care about having to leave In the morning because I work and I dont care about helping with chores but I dont do well with people being disrespectful to me or my daughter, is this a problem here? Do I have to worry about someone stealing things Ive worked for? This is such a scary place for me to bebin right now, so much so, that Id almost rather us sleep in my car. Please help me understand how you do things here 😔😥

I called this location to donate to women. They told me they only take brand new items and gift cards. I spent $150 on gift cards and bring in very nice gifts unopened. I made it to the door and the lady on Christmas Eve at 3pm chimes in through the door rude to me.... Sorry, we arent allowing anymore donations. What a crock of $@#!!!!!! Ive also been told they will pocket the gift cards and some of the items dont make it to the women and children. NEVER DONATE HERE.

Every Christmas season my wife Laura, her caregiver and I visit the Home to give gifts of cash to the women and children over ten. Younger children receive a stuffed toy. We have found the staff and facilities to be marvelous. The families and single ladies all seem to be happy and appreciative of the care and comfort they receive at Lauras Home. It is a wonderful thing the City Mission does for these individuals in need.

I stayed here with my son. They are rude, they talk down to you, and treated most of the residents like prisoners. I would say in all honesty this was not a real Christian Faith Shelter. The employees act like they are Christians when they yell at you to go to forced Church sermans. They do nothing for you in terms of trying to aid in getting perminent housing, rides, and they take your belongings. They did not offer help of any kind to get out of that situation. I guess you have to be a black woman to get help? They kick you out early in the morning on to the street and then you have to be back by a certain time. Treated like a prisoner. Horrible place. Wolves in sheeps clothing. Oh lets not forget the Social Workers downstairs that do nothing..think I mentioned that already. Kinda makes you wonder where the funding is for the homeless residents that need assistance. And also how much are the jerks paid that work there??

This place is Corrupt.A family member was wrongfully accused of being Dishonest and they kicked them out with no proof of the incedent. As they where putting them out on the curb they proceeded to harrass and bully her. I was also told by 3 people who used to stay there and the family member that the staff steals donations from the residents aswell as show favortism twords certain guests.I hope this place gets shut down .The webpage manager who reads these comments is probly gonna say something passive aggresive to cover there @$$3$ because Im writing constructive criticism on there perfect god based facility.

This facility is corrupt and the staff member Michelle Mendez is a thief and stole my childs cell phone and gave it to her daughter and when I brought it to their attention they got mad and kicked me in all 7 of my childrens out in the street after they harassed us right before kicking us out as a way of shutting us up. They have kicked many people out of this place including a elderly lady because she had to spend overnight in the hospital. The place needs to be shut down

This is the best womens shelter in the Cleveland area. There are rules and guidelines to follow. If you are not ready to reevaluate your life choices, your relationship with God, your relationship with family and friends, this is not the place for you. This is a place to help build a bond with God and to help figure out the next step for yours and your childrens life. Yes there is a curfew, yes there are classes and yes they hope you will go to church on sundays. (By going to church not only do you build a support network with God but also with the congregation.) Talking of support, even though you walk in this shelter alone (except with God) you truely walk out with good friends and new acquaintances. You will battle inner turmoil of leaving or staying if you have a rebelish nature but i suggest you buckle down and suck it up. Turn to your bible and realize how bad it is in the real world and what you have done to put yourself here. You are safe, clothed, fed, you are warm, for one year you can work on you. In the end you will be a better you. All you have to do is ask for help, be willing to accept that help, give up drugs, give up partying, keep a curfew, and be respectful and clean of the facility, staff and other residents.Well God Bless and have a wonderful holidays!Take it one day at a time and breath.
