The reason for my decision to go the er at Orlando Health on the night of my er visit was due to extreme back pain and vomiting, along with abdomen pain. I waited over two hours and saw only two patients get admitted indicating they were understaffed. I became worse throughout this time and eventually went up to the front nurse who saw my condition, which looked life threatening, and proceeded to tell us there was still four people in front of us who were no where near as sick as I was. My father then had to demand a doctor to come down who took one look at me and admitted me immediately. They then gave me medication and started routine tests such as a untrasound, ct scan, and a urine sample. The doctor then came back to say she did not find anything wrong with the in office tests. I explained to her that I had just finnished antibiotics for an ecoli infection less than 24 hours before my symptoms became severe. I know for a fact after having many doctor visits and talking to my primary care doctor  that it is impossible to see this bacteria from a kidney infection through an in office test. I requested that she send my urine sample for a culture, which is how they can see this kind of infection. She was over confident that it was fine, which resulted in me demanding a culture. She reluctantly agreed to do so. They then sent be home with medicine, with the staff having the mindset that I was making up these exterme symptoms. A week later I still had no culture results indicating that she lied and failed to send the sample in for testing. I live in colorado and therefore had to fly home in an emergency. Once I was back I visited my primary care doctor who proceeded to do an in office uirne test where they found blood in my urine( which I had before my er visit). They sent the sample in for a culture and found bactetia growth indicating a kidney infection. And finally got me on antibiotics. But due to the lack of care and over confidence of my doctor I may be facing permanent kidney damage and disease from letting the infection sit for too long. My primary care doctor was floured with disappointed and anger from the results of this er vist which could result in unnecessary permant kidney damage. No amount of understaffment can make any of  this acceptable.

The staff here are always wonderful. This is a great facility when you need emergency services quickly.
