We are so happy with Dr. Malnati and the team at Sunset Veterinary Surgery. Our Cavachon is back to her hyperactive activities after having ACL repair surgery. The attention and care provided was the best. Fully recommended for your pets orthopedic issues.

After spending several thousands of dollars on what should have been a simple ACL repair, our 6 year old Maltese’s trachea was damaged and collapsed during the surgical procedure. After this failed procedure, we brought our Maltese to an emergency ER where we spent over $10K to try to save her, but to no avail. I am posting this review to warn others who have small dogs with smaller tracheas to be aware of such risks.

Dr. Malnati was recommended by our local vet who diagnosed a probable ACL tear. Coincidentally, several of our neighbors had also been to Sunset and were extremely pleased with his services. I couldnt agree more. Excellent veterinary surgery, reasonable fees, and very good support staff. Fortunate to have this team so close by!

So happy we decided to entrust our 11 year old chihuahua/jack russell mix (Meeko) to Dr. Malnati and his staff. Meeko needed surgery on both knees for luxating patellas and torn ccls. Dr. George performed surgery on one side at a time. His expertise and commitment to successful outcomes for his patients, and their families, is obvious. He answers all your questions honestly without making promises. He and his staff are there for you every step of the way. It was very stressful for us and Meeko, but we felt very comfortable with how they coached us through it. Our vet recommended him and so do we. If your best friend needs orthopedic surgery, we firmly believe Dr. George is the best choice for a positive, rejuvenating outcome!

I called to schedule a consultation with Dr. Malnati and after speaking with the receptionist about a total hip replacement and how he does FHO, she immediately gave him the phone to talk me through the differences and answered any questions I had. Its very rare where the Doctor hops on the phone during a busy day to help answer questions and be completely honest on the procedure, even if its not something they offer. Very refreshing!

My Westie, Bailey, tore his CCL and would need surgery. I searched the internet, blogs, reviews to find the best and the BEST is what I found. Thank God for Dr. Malnati and his entire staff. They were so caring of every animal that came in, patient, thorough and understood we were all nervous mammas and pappas in that room. People came from all over the state, one women was there with her german shepard and they drove straight from Daytona Beach!!! They specialist in surgery only, not a vet office. Dr. Malnati had two Westies himself and he said if my little boy was to have a hard time he would take him home with him for the night to watch over him. The true caring and concern is beyond words. I am alerting all of my fury baby friend if they ever are in need. I am so thankful. Lastly, not that this is a key factor but it was the icing on the cake.... the cost is the lowest in the state!!! Thank you all 1,000 times! Susan and Bailey

If ever there was a dog which could break the hardware that Dr. Malnati put in his back leg five years ago he would be the dog to do it! We liked them so much, we used them twice! Our 10-year old shepherd mix had surgery on her left knee in May 2013. 4 months later, she had surgery on her right knee. Both procedures went very smoothly and her recovery was smooth. In fact, she was just paroled yesterday and is now free to return to her normal activities. Dr. Malnati and his staff are wonderful. They are friendly, compassionate and accessible. I highly recommend them!

Firstly, I just want to say that my dog should have died. Dr. Malnati and his tech staff worked a miracle (several actually). My 15 month old chihuahua got ran over by a car. Her pelvis was crushed, leaving her unable to walk at all, one of her legs was completely broken and the other had no feeling in it at all. Dr. Malnati looked at the x-rays and said Yeah, I can take care of that. That alone gave me so much relief! He was incredibly confident throughout the 2 procedures she had. She is back to her normal self, running around, playing with toys and enjoying life again. She is an amazing dog and she had an amazing surgeon!! I cant thank you and your team enough. You truly worked miracles on my little one! Love you all. Love, Joelle and Lizzie :)

Our seven year old American Pit Bull Terrier, Duke, tore both knee ligaments out and had to have titanium knees installed at the same time on both hind legs. He was so determined to keep living even though he could not stand up. He was actually walking on his front legs with his rear end raised in the air, so we were going to do anything it took to give him a chance. Amazingly, the surgery was very successful and our Duke had seven more wonderful and active years with us. We cannot say enough about Dr. Malnadi and his staff at Sunset Veterinary. We will always be grateful for the seven years Dr. Malnadi gave us with Duke. David and Becky Dennis and family

Our 11-year-old Pomeranian, Napoleon, had knee surgery at Sunset Veterinary Surgery on May 7. He had both back knees operated on. One knee had become very painful and the other was not in great shape either. Dr. Malnati recommended having both done at one time since it would be easier on him and less expensive for us. A month later, we went to North Carolina on vacation and he was walking everywhere. Today, he went for his two-month follow-up. We are happy to see him now walking pain free. We would do it again in a heartbeat!Dr. Malnati and his staff are caring and knowledgeable. I would entrust any pet to their care.

Pinto our Australian Sheppard started limping so we took him to Dr. Malnati. By examining his leg he knew right away what his problem was. He told us that it was a torn ligament and needed surgery. Based on the great reviews we read about Dr. Malnati we knew that our 12 year old boy was going to be fine in his hands. The surgery was a success and a month later he was like nothing happened to him. He now is able to run along with us on the bike as usual. We are very grateful with Dr. Malnati and his nice staff. Dr. Malnati is an angel. Thank you so very much for doing what you do with such love and passion for our best friends. Rob and Marianella Morrison

Dr. Malnadi is my Baby Girls savior!! My 2 year old chihuahua (Baby Girl) was attacked by a very large dog. He broke her front leg in two places. Dr. Malnadi was so wonderful with her. She is almost back to being herself again. He is very reasonably priced, no hidden costs. What he told us we would have to pay, was never more and often times less. Dr. Malnadi and his staff were extremely nice to both me and Baby Girl, and it showed on our second visit when my Baby Girl was excited to be there, and not afraid. I recommend Dr. Malnadi for any surgical pets needs, with all my heart.Thank you Dr. Malnadi for your kindness.

I have a Springer Spaniel/ Dachshund mix whos 5 months old. He recently fell off of the couch and fractured his growth plate in his hind leg. We took him to our regular vet and told us we need to see a specialist about this. So I did my research and found the best reviews about Dr. Malnati. So I set up an appointment for him, when I got the news that he would need surgery and to find out it was going to be $2000, I started crying. What was I going to do, but my dog is my baby and I needed him back to his normal self. Luckily I got approved for care credit and we were able to do the surgery. I kid you not, Max was walking the next day! Sure he had some pain, but after 2 days you wouldnt even had known he had surgery! He went from limping and not being able to run, to being back to his normal crazy puppy self! Im so happy I went with Dr. Malnati. I would truly recommend him to anyone! He is amazing with his patients and his staff is great, too! He gives you his cell number and tells you dont hesitate to call for anything! Im beyond thankful for everything he has done for me and my little Max! -Kaeley&Zon

Dr Malnati and his team are very compassionate and knowledgeable. They took the time to answer any questions I had and made sure myself and my dog were at ease during the entire process. My dog has been to Dr Malnati on 2 separate occasions (one year for kneecap reconstruction and the following year for ACL surgery on the other leg). Both times I would not trust anyone else to care for my baby like they did.

I want to sincerely thank Dr. Malnati and his excellent staff for giving life back to my best friend. My dog Jimmy, is and has been a very active English pointer from the day we got him. During the last 8 years his energy level has helped me back from a debilitating condition. He has been out every day for at least a half hour or more run and then another 4 or 5 mile of walking me to help me overcome high blood pressure and potential stroke. Making sure I stuck with my plan.About 3 months ago he started to run on three legs and basically would not put any weight on his rear right leg. I took him to my regular vet (Dr. Howell) who took x-rays and found an ACL tear. He referred me to Dr. Malnati for surgery.I had known Dr. Malnati for some time. His reputation, since I met him first back in Atlanta 13 years ago, was impeccable. If I had to trust anyone with my best friend, I knew I could count on him. After explaining to me Jimmys injury and what it would take to heal and rehabilitate him, my wife and I decided to go ahead with the surgery. And boy, are we ever so grateful for the results and coaching we received during Jimmys recovery and rehabilitation.Jimmy is now, 8 weeks later, fully mobile. I am, as Dr. Malnati suggested taking Jimmy out on a step by step gradient of increased activity. He is walking at least 2-3 miles with occasional short runs during the week so we can rebuild his muscles and restore his tone. I can say without a doubt he is one happy dog now that he can use all 4 legs.I know that this dog can be a handful. His high energy level and reactiveness can be nerve racking at times. But Dr. Malnati and his staff were ever so concerned and allowed me the opportunity to assist, when needed, to help calm Jimmy down.I would highly recommend Dr. Malnati to anyone whose best friend is in need of surgery. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving life back to my dog and me. I will be eternally grateful.Frank DiMartino

One night, we came home and our 10 year old Boston terrier, Yogi, could not put his back leg down. We took him to our general veterinarian who took x-rays and diagnosed him with a torn ACL (CCL). They estimated an extremely expensive procedure with an extremely long recovery time. We were devastated! As we researched our options, we found the answer to our prayers: Dr. Malnati. Several people recommended Dr. Malnati’s practice, and we are incredibly grateful to have the privilege to work with he and his staff. They are truly incredible. They provide exceptional care at a reasonable price. From the moment we stepped into the office, they treated Yogi, our two year-old son, and us with kindness and compassion.Dr. Malnati explained everything clearly and carefully. He answered all of our questions and made us feel comfortable with Yogi’s surgical procedure and recovery. Everyone at the office genuinely cares about the animals they heal. Yogi felt at home, and he even looked forward to his follow up appointments.Surgery for pets can be both emotionally and financially draining. However, our experience with Dr. Malnati took away this strain. Dr. Malnati made this an exceptional experience. He provided Yogi with a superior surgical experience at a reasonable cost. We all looked forward to visiting the office and seeing our new extended family. As for Yogi’s recovery, you wouldn’t know he was 10 years old or that he had major knee surgery. He is back to himself. He’s carefree as he plays with our younger Boston Terrier. We are so happy and grateful to have many more years with a healthy Yogi. Thank you, Dr. Malnati, for making this such a wonderful experience!

I cant say enough good things about Dr. Malnati and his staff. My 12 year old shep/lab mix, Onyx, had a melon sized tumor on the inside of her rear right flank. She was having a very difficult time walking and being her active, lively self. Even though the growth wasnt life threatening, it was affecting her quality of life. We consulted with Dr. Malnati and opted to have it removed. The surgery wasnt difficult (according to Dr. Malnati!!) but time consuming. He removed a 7 lbs. fatty tumor, did some wonderful nip/tuck with the excess skin and Onyx was happy through the entire healing process. Imagine, she didnt have to deal with that huge bowling ball hanging off her leg any more! She had her stitches removed today and is as good as new. Dr. Malnati and staff provided our dog Ralphie with top notch care with the replacement of both his knees. Even though Ralphie was not the easiest dog to deal with both Dr. Malnati and Nancy worked with us to ensure that Ralphie was well taken care of both times we were there. Ralphies short life (he is about 2.5 years old) has been medically challenged since he was 8 weeks old and to find someone that would deal with him as this challenged fur baby made our lives so much easier. Thank you both for taking care of him even though you could hear him coming from a mile away! Laura Van Swearingen
