The staff were very efficient and knowledgeable, my appointment was at 9am and I had X-rays and spoke with Dr. Davidson for 15 minutes. He was extremely friendly, very knowledgeable, explained everything in layman’s words that were very helpful. I never had the feeling that he was in a hurry, but I did feel he cared about my treatment and wanted to make sure I understood my options. My entire time at his office was a total of 50 minutes.

I have been a patient of Dr. Davidson for the last ten years or so. I cannot give him enough praise for how wonderful and capable I think he is. In November, 2018, I had Cervical surgery (multi-level) by Dr.Davidson.The outcome was wonderful. I had NO PAIN whatsoever after the surgery and healed wonderfully (have to say the neck brace was no piece of cake though but it had to be worn which is typical of any surgery of this type.)He has a conservative approach to treatment as I have found over the years. And, I very much appreciate that quality in a Doctor.I am a 76 year old lady and he has always treated me with much respect and kindness. Never gets impatient with me and sits with me until I am comfortable with the answers to my questions.I would highly recommend Dr. Davidson to anyone for consultation, surgery or whatever your need might be for Orthopedic work.His office atmosphere is very nice, clean and has coffee ready for you and snacks if you need them. And I might add that the office staff is exceptional!

Dr Davidson may be the kindest doctor Ive ever met! His demeanor is calm and approachable and he is patient and encouraging. He views surgery as the last step and encourages trying other procedures first. On August 23, 2017, Dr. Davidson performed a laminectomy on several lumbar vertebrae. I was told by quite a few acquaintances that spine surgery is, for the most part, unsuccessful. Nothing could have been further from the truth.I was first interviewed by Dr. Davidsons physician assistant after which Dr. Davidson explained the procedure plus other viable alternatives. I was initially impressed with his knowledge, enthusiasm, communication skills, and professional demeanor. He is reliable, dedicated, and eternally upbeat; plus, he is a friendly, high-energy physician with a great sense of humor. Dr. Davidson is, without doubt, a top-performing spine surgeon and has my highest recommendation. Oh yes, since my surgery I have been pain free.

I could not be happier with the overall experience I had with DR Davidson and his team at Orthopedic Specialties. My care form initial appointment through my surgery and recovery has been simply outstanding. I cannot recommend him highly enough. If you are looking for a DR who genuinely cares about his patients and his coworkers, you have found one in DR Davidson.

Dr Davidsons staff are wonderful. Every staff member I had contact with was friendly and genuinely cared about my experience. I think they really love their jobs. I dont often see that at a doctors office. Dr Davidson was thorough in his explanation of my condition and the procedures necessary to fix my back. I never seemed rushed in his office and my questions were always answered. And the results have been amazing. The pain in my back and down my leg became so severe prior to my surgery that I couldnt walk more than a block and couldnt drive more than 15 minutes. Within six weeks of my surgery I drove from Florida to California to see a new granddaughter. No pain in driving and I walked between 2 and 5 miles almost every day. Now if I could just stick to the stretches Im supposed to be doing. I dont know why I lived with the pain for so long. Thank you Dr Davidson and staff.

My husband had surgery at Morton Plant done by Dr. Davidson back in Dec. He had herniated discs and had to have a fusion done. From the very first appointment Dr. Davidson was awesome! He is so friendly, down to earth, and actually spends the time to explain things to you. His PA is great too! His surgery went well and he is on his way to a full recovery. The best part is he has NO PAIN! I cant say enough good things about this Dr. He also doesnt push surgery which is a plus. You can go other routes if you dont want surgery. I highly recommend him.

Dr Davidson is on the cutting edge of technology. This man is great. He takes the time to thoroughly address each issue and his staff is extremely competent. Everyone that I have referred to him has thanked me, even my sister, who said I really like him, he knows what he he is doing and she doesnt like any doctor.

I’ve suffered from back pain for most of my adult life. I had neck surgery two years ago in Ohio, and at that time I knew that I also needed surgery on my low back. I went to a spine specialist in Florida earlier this year and had injections, but they did not help. The spine specialist told me he only referred his surgical patients to Dr Davidson. I am so appreciative for how I was treated from the front desk, nurses, physician assistants, business staff, and finally Dr Davidson. The process was complicated, but I was always comfortable because everything was explained to me upfront. On my first appointment with Dr Davidson he spent 30+ minutes with me. It’s been three months since my low back surgery and I am very pleased. Dr Davidson is extremely thorough, and a truly warm and caring human being.

In 2108 mid June I had my initial appointment with Orthopaedic Specialties of Tampa Bay and had an X-ray that showed that I needed a major attention to my lower back. In a few weeks had appointment with Dr. Byron Davidson who clearly and completely discussed the steps that he would be taking to correct my lower back, and would only perform the fusion of the vertebrae that were required by his hands-on observation. I felt very comfortable with this conservative approach. During the entire process I interacted with both of his Physician Assistants, several nurses and front office staff and felt that they all were extremely knowledgeable and that all cared about ensuring I knew what was going to happened and made sure I felt comfortable. The August surgery was longer than anticipated as he took his time to make sure all issues were carefully addressed; the hospital stay was as anticipated, and Dr. Davidson and his staff took great care to make sure I was healing appropriately and released in a timely manner. After carefully following his post-surgery instructions of “walk, walk, walk” my recovery has been going extremely well and already feel much better then before the surgery. Extremely happy with the entire very complicated process.

Dr. Davidson worked on my lumbar and neck, fusing vertebrates in both areas. His bedside manner is extraordinary and talks on your level so everything is easy to understand. Joe and the rest of his crew are also very patient when explaining things and always cordial. I cant say enough about these people except that i wouldnt trust any of my family members to anyone other than them. You truly feel like his only priority whether in the office or the hospital.

Dr Davidson and his staff are awesome! He has performed several surgeries on me and both were pretty successful. I went from pain everyday to being uncomfortable if I overdo it. After 1 year of pain in my neck and back, tests and physical therapy my Primary sent me to Dr. DAVIDSON. First his assistant came in and looked at my 2 MRIs. When Dr. DAVIDSON walked in to the room I felt this sense of ease and comfort. Dr. DAVIDSON performed 2 neck surgeries on me. We are now addressing my back. I cant say enough about him. He is so sincere , compassionate, calm, understanding, caring. His bed side manners are wonderful. Also his assistants follow in his footsteps. The staff all make you feel so relaxed. It is the mist amazing place. I am now doing p.t. for my lumbar there as well. I have told all my friends and family about Dr. DAVIDSON. I could go on and on but there are not enough words to say. I had Bay Care Home Care pick up my wheelchair yesterday! I am 71 years old. In 2017, a severe foot infection put me in a downward health spiral. While the doctors at Bay Care Morton Plant Hospital and Bay Care St. Anthonys Hospital did a great job in handling my foot, kidneys, and heart problems I was left having to an old mans shuffle walk and limited to being able to walk only short distances for fear of falling or running out of breath. Having previously used a physical therapy for knee problems, I reasoned that a physical therapist could improve my walking. I contacted my general physician, who referred me to Dr. Davidson. It turned out that three vertebra in my neck were crushed and I needed neck surgery. Dr. Davidson gave me a sobering prognosis of what the surgery would entail and possible results. After the initial shock of this news I luckily made the choice to go forward. with the operation. My surgery was November 5 and within a few days I could not only walk but I could take dance steps. I went from being an old guy with a staggering walk and having to rely on a wheel chair to doing shopping to a new manwithout any signs of a walking handicap. Dr Davidson -- C7 Surgery 2018. My C7 Neck Surgery was one year ago, and I posted a photo from this morning so you can see the scar just above my collar. Its not very visible. I had a compressed nerve that was was making my left arm and fingers numb and tingling. Dr. Davidson has one of the best bedside manners Ive ever seen, and he was just great throughout this journey. My results were terrific and Im so glad I had the surgery by Dr. Davidson. Hes a world class surgeon right here in Tampa Bay. Dr. Davidson, if you see this, thank you!

Dr. Davidson is a great doctor. He is very caring and compassionate. Dr. Davidson and his team listened patiently while I explained my history of upper back pain and numbness/tingling in my hand. He reviewed with my medical and imaging reports then explained why surgery would be necessary. I went in for surgery (ACDF) about 2 mos ago and while Im still in recovery mode, I am looking forward to much improvement with time.

This Doctor gave me my life back. I am so grateful. He was kind and compassionate and always took the time I needed. He is a god to me. I highly recommend him. It has been a year and I still agree with this statement.

Dr. Davidson has given me back my life ~ a life that I never expected to be able to live again! Only 3 months after my surgery and I am amazed at the lack of debilitating pain as well as the improvement in mobility and the fine motor skills that had been lost for more than 4 years (due to a car accident)! I have gone from barely being able to stand or walk (even when using a cane), to being able to take Tai Chi classes (to improve my balance) and being able to ride a bike for 4 miles ~ all in only 3 months post surgery! There are just so many wonderful things to say about Dr. Davidson that I think I am not allotted the space to say them all. He is the most caring, sweet, understanding, and amazing surgeon with a great bedside manner! He takes the time to listen to you and explain everything and all options there are, no matter how long it takes.I was experiencing migraine headaches for about 1 year and had been to many doctors and tried all kinds of other treatments to no avail. A friend had recommended Dr. Davidson and said that he will be straight with me and is not into cutting if you do not need it. From the minute he walked in the room he made me feel very at ease. We discussed all my options and eventually I had to have surgery (he fused C4-6 in my neck). I woke up from the surgery with barely a headache for the first time in almost a year. He did warn me that there was a chance that I might have to have additional surgery later on down the road because it was worse than he thought once he got in there. Three years later, almost to the day, he fused C7-T1 and once again, woke up with no pain. I was back home and eating within less than 6 hours and didnt need anything but a few Tylenol to take the edge off.His staff is also incredible too! Joe is also amazing and a very skilled surgeon. He assisted Dr. Davidson with both of my surgeries. I also saw Joe on some of my appointments in Dr Davidsons absences. Linda is the BOMB! I do not know how she does it but she keeps all the medical paperwork in line for all those patients.I have, and will continue to recommend Dr. Davidson to anyone who is in pain!Thanks Doc for all you do and have done!

We have been to this practice in the past with another family member. Very efficient staff and Doctor was so kind and explained everything very through. Had to wait awhile, but it was worth it. He is one of the good doctors out there that truly care about people.

Dr. Davidson and his staff are the best orthopedics in this area. They are very caring and take the time to talk you and answer questions. I highly recommend them. Dr Davidson did my neck surgery a few years ago and most of the staff are still there. Must say something about the kind of practice he has if the staff is still the same.

This was my first visit to Dr. Davidson. I chose him because of great recommendations and reviews. The visit was a waste of an afternoon. Admittedly Dr Davidson and Andrew were very pleasant but basically I didnt learn anything. What really let them down was the wait. We waited almost 2 hours for a less than 5 min consultation. When I casually mentioned the wait the doctor shrugged it off as if it was no big deal. That just jeopardized his chance for a good review.

DAVID BACKDr Davidson and his PA’s and Kristina plus the entire staff to include surgery staff. All are very friendly and informative. Professional to a fault. I had back surgery basket , rods and screws. I am 2 weeks post op and the difference is a great deal better. Still have nerve pain in left leg but 50 percent better and better each day. Right foot pain is gone and back is minimal surgery pain only. If you need back surgery this is the place to go !

The man is amazing! Having suffered with debilitating back and neck pain for over 5 yrs with no relief, I am finally completely pain free after a cervical fusion and a lumbar fusion performed by Dr. J. Byron Davidson. He has the best bedside manner, takes time with patients and LISTENS! He is not aggressive in operating until all avenues of more conservative measures have been tried. I tell everyone everywhere I travel... Itd be worth it to make a trip to Clearwater FL if you want the best surgeon for your back. I have severe psoriatic arthritis which damages my spine. I was of afraid back surgery as I heard too much about failed back surgery.. After 10+ years of chronic pain, I was desperate. My rheumatologist recommended a consultation with Dr. Davidson. I was pleasantly surprised to find he is kind, discusses options, and is never pushy about surgery. He discusses MRI results and answers questions.In the last 6 years I have had 2 neck surgeries and 2 spine surgeries performed by Dr. Davidson. All of the surgeries have greatly reduced my pain and increased my mobility.I took the time to research what spinal surgery realistically could and couldnt change for me. I wore my back and neck braces as directed. I worked hard in physical therapy.I choose the right surgeon and improved my life!

Dr. Davidson is the best man to go to with spine issues! He is knowledgeable, compassionate, etc and THE BEST BEDSIDE MANNER around. He performed a lumbar fusion on me in 2010, no issues there for me since, he did an L3 bilateral hemi laminectomy on me this January 2017. I may be having an issue with that disc due to something else, but you can bet i will be heading back to see him soon!I cant praise him and his staff enough.UPDATE - as noted above I DID have to go back to see Dr. Davidson and have a second fusion on a different disc. The surgery was May 1st 2019 and 2 1/2 months later I am doing amazing! I cant thank Dr. Davidson and his staff for the care and expertise he shows for his patients. Dr. Davidson has gave me my life back, he is an amazing doctor and surgeon.

By far the best group of people in the business . Dr. Davidson is TOP notch . He is personable , genuine , and has a great sense of humor . His staff is equally impressive . Marbee went above and beyond to get me in on very short notice . She also followed up with me to see how the visit went and how I was doing . On my first visit , Andrew (PA) was engaging and personable . He took good care of me so I would be able to make it through my MRI and the pain I was experiencing . Several days later I returned to see Dr. Davidson . I hadn’t seen him in more than a year but we picked up right where we left off . With a warm handshake and a confident approach to my care , he presented me with options from conservative to aggressive . I truly trust his judgement . We were able to get a procedure approved to remedy my situation . Melissa , Maggie , and Joe were amazing . Again all the same great traits and genuine concern for my condition . There is no other Orthopedic care I’d go to besides Dr. Davidson and his team . Thanks for all you do for me and others .

Ive been with doctor Davison For about 3years ,Came to him with Neck Pain the left side Ive done the therapy thing but he suggested to try detracts but it didnt drop the pain at first, but he never gave up on my neck pain, because it was so high up in my neck c3,c4 Vertebrae ,going thew the back of my neck was Perfect for me because I was afraid of going to the front .he assured me that everything will be good. So we done it again this time in the front, and now Im pain free, I recommend him to all my friends and family, hes just that good of an doctor. Thank you

Went to Dr Davidson addicted to pain meds with no pain relief. All staff were respectful and comoassionate. My work up was done quickly and surgery scheduled. Pre op I was rarely out of bed. Could not play with my grandchildren or work. Now a excellant recovery within 1 month no further back pain. By 5 months on the floor playing with my Grandchildren. Living life to the fullest. Dr. Davidson is an amazing surgeon. He was able to repair 25 years of agonizing damage to my lumbar spine. Thanks to Dr. Davidsons Talent, skill, knowledge and guidance, I have my life back.Four years ago, I was in agony and not really looking forward to the rest of my life. Every step hurt. I could find no relief. Sitting, laying down, standing... everything triggered a fresh burst of pain from my lower back.I was facing an epic spinal fusion procedure that involved opening me up in the front and back and removing/stuffing back in my guts. I said no @#$@% way. And my agony continued.Then, a friend referred me to Doc. From my initial visit through my release back to normal activity, Doc explained everything, from my treatment options (surgical and non-surgical) to my procedure and the recovery efforts that were required from me. Doc never once seemed in a hurry to get through an appointment. He and his staff are a pleasure to deal with.Its been three years since Doc fused my three worst vertebrae. He told me that the most important part of recovery would be me walking. Every two hours for at least five minutes. Even at night. EVERY TWO HOURS. Regardless of pain. He also told me to walk as much as I could from day 1. I actually kept a log of how far and when I walked. Yeah, it hurt. But not as much as it hurt before the surgery.Due to following his advice, I was off of pain meds faster than Doc even expected. Today, I am happy, healthy and quite active. My biggest challenge is to remember that even though I may feel like superman, I am not.I know six other people who have been helped by Doctor Davidson. All are as happy as I am.The people I have known who have complained about their unsuccessful back surgery (NOT Docs patients) did not do the post -surgical physical activities needed to recover. The common thread? It hurts too much.Doc Davidson is a world-class orthopedic surgeon, in my opinion. Because of his skills and talent, my life is awesome.

After suffering with extreme sciatica pain for several years, and trying every option possible to avoid another surgery, I was eventually referred to Dr. Davidson. At my initial consultation, I immediately felt comfortable with Dr. Davidson and the rest of his staff. They reviewed my old and current MRIs and explained them to me in a way that no one had ever explained to me before, making sure that I completely understood everything before I left. Dr. Davidson answered my long list of questions and I never felt rushed during any of my appointments. If I wasnt able to see Dr. Davidson, I saw one of his associates, Dr. Andrew Johnson or Dr. Joe Henson who are both equally knowledgeable, patient, and as kind as Dr. Davidson. I had a revision at L4-L5 laminectomy, discectomy in November 2018. My surgery was a complete success! I will be forever grateful that I am simply able to stand and walk again without any pain. I am able to do things now that I havent been able to do in years! I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Davidson to anyone who needs a top-notch orthopedic surgeon. I truly feel blessed to be able to live pain-free life once again thanks to these amazing doctors!

I went to Dr. Davidson for stenosis in my spine (neck). He performed a diskectomy and fusion of 5 vertebrae. I was out of the hospital fast, had no more numbness or pain in my arms and legs and felt like my old self again. He is very friendly, considerate and skilled. Love him and his professional staff! A great experience!!

Dr. Davidson did disc replacement surgery for my C4-C7 discs. He and his staff were nothing but exceptional in their professionalism and bedside manner. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing anything from minor to highly invasive surgery.

If I could rate them with zero stars I would. The office is extremely dysfunctional and appts are made, BUT Doctors and PA’s are constantly 1-2 hours plus behind! We had an appt with the PA, office called to confirm this appt with PA as well. We sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes unacknowledged for a 10am appt. When I asked if there was an issue, met with a nasty reply that there’s still 6 people ahead of me and he’s just behind. WHAT? They open at 8am, did they all just show up for work 2 hours late? PLUS they all of a sudden said I was seeing Dr. Davidson. This is constant with no regard to patient time. I refused to wait another 2.5 hours and rescheduled bc this is a workers comp issue so I’m forced to go here. If you have a choice, avoid them at all cost!

This dr saved gave me my life back. Incredible bed side manner. Very empathetic and compassionate. Takes as long with u as u need doesnt rush and when i was in hopsital came to see me or jo did every day...for 5days in hospital i suffered but it was worth it. After having back pain and sciatica for 13yrs amd not having much of a life i am able to walk and live my life without horrible pain. He gave me relief and a large part of my life back. I am eternally grateful for this surgeon.

Absolutely horrible! Went through surgery with a promise of taken me from a pain level of 10-to a level 2.never happened Gave me 2 dropped feet unable to walk again, and pain for the rest of my life because no other surgeon will touch me after seeing on M.R,I the mess he left in my spine,absolute butcher !!!

Almost pain free in less than 3 months.

The surgery turned out bad. Same problems as before surgery (Lumbar), and aftermaking 2 appointments to see Dr. Davidson, all I saw was his P.A. Joe. I think theleast the Doctor could have done was face me after the operation, to explain what wentwrong. I will now see a Nero surgeon, a professional in his field, instead of just being a number.
