I wanted to let the team at Westchester Gardens know how deeply appreciative I am for all that they are doing for my mother. My mother recently fell and fractured/broke her hip. She needed to be put in a rehabilitation and care center. we where so worried about finding a good place that would care for our mother. Thank God we found Westchester Gardens.Brenda, Lynn, and Marjorie at the front desk are always polite and patient with me when I call.Susie explained everything in detail and has worked with my sister and I to answer all our questions. Susies communication skills are phenomenal she explained everything in detail and answered all our questions.Anna has helped me schedule my first visit with my mother calling me back right after the holidays thank you so much Anna. The nurse at night Karen is OUTSTANDING when she calls to give me an update she makes me feel at ease. I appreciate her honesty and her taking the time to answer all my questions.I am grateful and appreciative to the entire staff. I highly recommend Westchester Gardens!

My 86-year-old mother had recently broken her hip. Mom was told she needed to look for a residential rehab facility that would help her get back her independence. We immediately started looking for a “5 star” facility and landed on Westchester Gardens in Countryside. Our overall experience was great. My mother adored Andrew in rehab, he was incredible and motivational. Mom could not have achieved back her independence without Andrew and the rehab crew. That department deserves a “5 star” plus rating, kudos to the best team ever!As far as the facility, there was always activities, making the atmosphere as pleasant and fun as possible. Angela and the team on the 600 wing were friendly, attentive and cheerful. In addition, David and Heather were to eager to please and make sure Mom’s stay was comfortable, and that she had everything needed to have a safe and speedy recovery.Finding a facility for a loved one is very hard and stressful. I am hopeful anyone reading this would find comfort knowing I would highly recommend Westchester Gardens for all your rehab needs.Warm Regards,The Breiner Family

My dad was here for rehab for just over a month. The rehab staff is excellent. The nurses that cared for my dad were well informed and very patient with him. My only issues was the amount of time that it took to get someone when he used his call button and the size of the shared rooms, but overall it was clean, the staff was receptive to feedback and questions and the location was good for us.

Mom has been here and all I can say is the staff is excellent and very caring. Very clean, nice bright facility. We wish she could go home but since she has to stay for now, we are so happy they have room for her.

My grandmother was here for two weeks before I got her the hell out. As a nurse for 15 years, I can say that the nursing here leaves a lot to be desired. All they know to do is hand out medications. God forbid you ask them a question they have no idea what is going on. My mothers nurse was giving her medications that she did not know what she was getting giving it for anything about the medication other than that she was supposed to hand it to her. The rehab was okay so outpatient would be fine.

I recently witnessed a supervising nurse yelling at a nurse on staff as if she were a child. As a family member of one if the residents there I cant express how disgusted I am. The nursing staff has been the one constant in quality at this facility. I plan to contact corporate with my concerns. This isnt the only time Ive been there and seen her behave inappropriately.

Terrible place! My grandmother is presently there and the way she has been treated is despicable in fact lets say horrifying!. Shes been over medicated to the point she cant eat, drink or function on any level. This after being left for over 7 hours in excruciating pain following surgery where she was shaking it out and passing out. The CNAs who have come each day are a lot to be desired, terrible attitudes and dont even take care of her basic needs. She has been left sit with throw up on her clothes for hours as well as with soiled diapers and the CNAs act like its no big deal. They are not empathetic or compassionate. Simple things as well they dont get right for example my grandmother cannot have ice and everyday I tell the staff this because every day they put it in her water. They are rough in their handling of my grandmother for example during transfers and very abrupt grabbing the water shes drinking before shes done. The rooms are dirty as well, they dont clean them very well and Icant wait to get her out of this place. I wouldnt put my dog here let alone another human being. Unfortunately most rehabs here in Tampa/clearwater are not much better. If you put your loved one here, please visit them often, ask lots of questions, and dont just assume they are getting good care. The lady sharing her room is diabetic and they fed her a ton of pasta and stuffed pasta shells for dinner-totally wrong! Just because it looks good on the outside doesnt mean its good on the inside when it comes down to getting the care you need.

If you love your family DO NOT send them here, the weekend 7-7 staff is the least empathetic group of people I have ever dealt with & obviously in the wrong profession. One weekend CNA was more interested in her phone & making excuses than caring for the patients. I was appalled that even with family sitting there, I witnessed her more times than one standing against the wall texting or talking with numerouscall lights were on. I witnessed residents get themselves to the bathroom or out of the bathroom because call lights werent answered for 20+min. She was also rude when she spoke to the residents. The weekend nursing supervisor Katie or Kate is rude & could care less about your concerns. The weekend nurse that took care of my mom falsified her chart, charting vitals and blood sugar at lunch time, when I was with her the entire day & NEVER ONCE did her vitals get taken nor her insulin given. A diabetic in this facility after surgery & no blood sugar check or insulin for over 7 hours & that same day her wound was left uncoverd & untreated for over 6 even though I spoke with the nurse twice about it. After my moms horrible 48 hours in this facility, I brought my concerns to the director of nursing attention & next thing you knew they had my mom scheduled to be discharged that following Thursday. Again falsifying charts saying my moms family requested shed be discharged which was a bold face LIE, I was the family & not only did I never speak to anyone other than the nursing director I NEVER told anyone I wanted my mom discharged she was far from ready to be discharged. The rooms are kept at extremely cold temperatures and getting an extra blanket was like asking for a million dollars. the facility is dirty one CNA never flushed toilets and when the toilet overflowed in my moms rooms she wiped the floor with towels & two days later that same floor hadnt been mopped. The worst & most incompetent person in this facility is Mary the social worker. She is the person whom is supposed to set up care for your family and she does as minimal as she can. Her communication with my family was slim to none. She didnt even let me know in advance about discharge, nor did she review discharge orders, she left that for the nurse to do. She left me a voicemail saying HOPEFULLY the home agency calls you today or tomorrow which was sign enough for me to follow up with them & sure enough they didnt have all the information they needed & they waited 2 days before the facility got it to them. by than we had to go with a different agency because they no longer had the resources. My mom left there and waited 3 days for home care due to her incompetence even though she required wound care. She also went into my moms room with paperwork to sign and when my mom said she would not sign without family, Mary had the nerve to say to my mom why your competent to sign she is competent but she has rights. Marys goal with my mom, because I called out the negligence of this facility after day two, was to get her out. Mary made sure even though insurance would cover 20days to have her out in 9. Nurses, PT and OT all expressed their concern to me for such an early discharge. Mary had discharge orders signed July 26 - 3 days before moms actual discharge July 30th & my mom was discharged with a wound and an infection that was still being treated with antibiotics, no prescription for the medicine needed to treat the wound & the discharge papers were also falsely noted family requested discharge. On the day of my moms discharge this facility neglected to clean or re-dress the wound prior to her discharge. She went 72 hours with no wound care thanks to their negligance & being more concerned with having her discharged. Even though I was assured by the nursing director her wound care nurse would treat her daily. TERRRIBLE CARE I WOULDNT RECOMMEND this facility to anyone. If the hospital recommends it RUN in the opposite direction. This is supposed to be 5 star Medicare rated facility & the care is less far from it.

The weekend supervisor is terrible, you cannot talk to her very unapproachable. Dont expect to talk to the DON she always gives you attitude and never has time to amswer any questions . The CNAs are great and work very hard they are unrecognized . Nurses are good you have some lazy ones but for the most part they are good and make sure your loved one is taken care of.

My Grandfather has been in this facility, transferred from the hospital, for about 24 hours, and let me just say, I would not treat MY DOG the way my Grandfather has been treated by this staff! As a patient with a stomach aneurysm, internal bleeding on the knee, and new rods in his spine, they let his pain levels get so out of control that he was vomiting on himself for hours overnight before the Nurse finally called my Grandmother to come in from HOME to help him!!!!They refused to give him any meds if he could not take them by mouth, and nearly refused my Grandmothers request to send him back to the ER right across the street AFTER calling her to come in from home! My Grandmother had to call 911 & my Grandfathers Doctor herself! The ER said he was clearly very dehydrated (in just 8 hours of being sent there from the hospital initailly), & inserted a pic line for medications to be given to him, instead of by mouth, got him back to acceptable levels of hydration and provided pain relief because his blood pressure was dangerously high, and then sent him back to this facility when he was stable once again. After a second trip back to West Chester Gardens my Grandfathers nurse again refused to give him pain meds thru his hospital inserted pic line and said basically if he cant keep pain meds down by mouth its not her problem, and left him, with extremely high blood pressure, and great amounts of pain, to roll around in bed for 6 hours until the next round of pain pills came his way, all the while walking by his room smiling saying its not time yet...We have taken video of my Grandfather in this condition, which he was NOT in just 72 hours ago, and plan to speak with anyone and everyone who will listen. You do NOT treat a 74 year old man, who fell at the doctors office, after having rods inserted in his spine 3 weeks ago this way!!!! You should not be treating ANYONE this way.The staff has been extremely rude, and uncaring, they have no concern for true medical issues such as an aneurysm that can rupture and kill someone simply from high blood pressure and vomiting. There is no compassion for the patients pain or past history. For 24 hours straight my family has had extreme anxiety over the treatment my Grandfather has received from this facility, and we are currently exploring options of signing him out, as he will get better care AT HOME by my sister who is a CNA and works with disabled children...Do your family member and yourself a huge favor & RUN in the opposite direction of this place. It may look beautiful as a facility, but the level of care patients receive sure does not match the decor!
