Recently got my ears flushed there 1. Had to stop mid procedure because they kept hitting a nerve. 2. I can’t hear out of my left ear. Thanks a lot Growing Child!! If I find that you did actual damage to my ear, We will sue you to the point where we can pay for me and my siblings college.

I have only had one negative interaction with this office since my children have been going here. The front staff are amazing, the nurses are great and other than ONE doctor, they have been wonderful too! BUT that one BAD EGG.... Dr. Wilson...She is incredibly RUDE and condescending. She didnt address anything we went for so we have to go back again this week and she was so hurtful with what she said to me that I left in tears. Dr. Wilson is a horrible doctor imo.

This office makes every little things difficult to do. You have to call multiple times for any referrals to be sent, staff are unpleasant, and they make you schedule additional appointments before you can actually get what you wanted sorted out done (at least for Medicaid patients). Don’t go here

I absolutely love Growing Child Pediatrics! The front desk, the nurses and the providers are wonderful! I feel very happy seeing any of the providers, they are all so loving, caring, professional and knowledgeable. I know I can count on them seeing my babies no matter how booked they can be! I love that their urgent care in Knightdale is open on the weekends, saves me the trouble of having to take them to the ER.

Horrible service!I called and asked if they offer the nasal spray flu vaccine and was told yes, if approved by a nurse. A few hours later a nurse called me back, asked a few questions, and approved my child for the nasal spray. She made an appointment for 3:30 the following day. So far so good. The following day my child and I arrive at the scheduled time and are told at reception that there is no record of our appointment. I explain my conversations with the receptionist and nurse just the day before. Three times, let me repeat that, three times while standing at the reception desk I confirm that we are there for the nasal spray flu vaccine. Their answer was no problem, well get you worked inAfter waiting to be worked in were finally called back and the nurse says so, youre here for a flu shot? I tell her no, we are here for the nasal vaccine and I had answered all the screening questions the day before and received approval. She then says that she has no idea why I was told that because they dont even have the nasal vaccine! She then says, well, if you dont want the shot I wont hold you up, have a nice day and leaves the room. No apologies, no offer to help make it right, just have a nice day.I took a half day off work and drove across town for nothing.Given they cannot seem to handle basic administrative task is this really the practice you want in charge of your childs health care? It is no wonder they only have a 2.8 star rating.

Today was my first time taking two of my children to growing child and I have no complaints. The wait was not long, the facility was clean and Dr. Mac was the best. He addressed every concern I had for both of my children and he explained everything with visuals. He was funny and kept the children entertained while he checked them out.

Absolutely love growing child. We switched after having a horrendous experience with first horizon and have not regretted it one bit. We are always seen quickly. The girls at the front desk are always kind and take time to talk to my kiddos. The nurses are friendly and comforting to the kiddos as well. We typically see Dr. Mac. He makes going to the doctor fun for my kids. Hes always honest and comforting when dealing with concerns I have. Weve seen a few other doctors at this location and havent ever had any issues with them either. And we are always in and out in a timely manner.

I have been taking my 3 children to Growing Child since they were born, and I have been very pleased! Dr. Mac is a wonderful doctor, Virginia McLean PA is amazing and has such a gift for nailing things that otherwise goes overlooked, and Tracy (nurse staff) is phenomenal with giving quick shots and handling business! The front desk staff has always been friendly and helpful, and they have always filled out my forms for school in a timely manner. I’ve had very little problems in getting an appointment when needed! I love this place!

Took my 5 year old son for a screening for the Fast Brain clinic. It was not a good experience- the nurse doing the eval did not have good rapport with my son. They charged my insurance over $500 for a Briggance Screening that you can get for free with the Partnership for Children in Johnston County, and were not able to do the blood draw or EKG they were scheduled to do (again the nurse didnt have good rapport with my son-- who has no problem with his regular pediatric doctors nursing staff). When I called to get a copy of the evaluation I was hung up on twice and told to leave a message and never heard back. I kept calling and was eventually told to call a completely different number through Duke health care. Staff at the Clayton office that I dealt with were not well trained or informed.

Dr. Probably couldnt have cared less about my children. They never once tried to get personable with either of my kids, no smiles, not even any books or toys, stickers, paintings on the walls. Not kid friendly at all especially for it to be a pediatric. And i kept giving the staff the benefit of the doubt, thinking they were having a rough week but now its been a year, so I think maybe theyre just miserable. Not sure whats going on with that.I could never get any one to answer the phone. It would ring and ring until it would just hang up on me.Almost every time my kids were prescribed medicine, Id have to call and get them to change the antibiotic because it was something they couldnt have..I once asked if I could get a print out of my childrens percentiles but it was made clear that that was a complete inconvenience. One visit the nurse didnt even weigh or Check temp for my one child that clearly was sick. I then asked if she was going to at least make sure he doesnt have a fever, she not only blamed the other girl for it but she clearly got frustrated with my (1 yr old) son that wouldnt sit still enough for her to get a reading.Just bad vibes, no professionalism and not kid friendly.I wouldnt recommend this place unless its the last place on earth

I have been taking my kids to growing child since my oldest was born 5 years ago and I had nothing but wonderful things to say about them until they joined with Duke. Their price per visit has more than doubled even with insurance. I had my children treated for strep in Feb and just got the bills saying I owe more than $800 for 2 visits per child. Taking my children to their primary care cost more than seeing a specialist. Its ridiculous. And when I called to talk to their billing office about it all they had to say is we can set up a payment plan. I have switched offices.

Doctors are great but the staff is HORRIBLE. I was belittled in front of my children and other patients like I was a dead beat father. They lost my sons insurance information and told me that he was not insured and would not see him. He did in fact have insurance and the error was on THEIR end. The ladies that work the front desk should find another line of work and choose their words more wisely in the future. All three if my children were crying when she was done raising her voice at me and treating me like a piece of white trash in front of my kids. I was so embarrassed I didnt even know what to do. They should be ashamed.

Absolutely terrible.. my daughter was seen on a Monday at the Zebulon location and the doctor she seen told us that there was some redness in her ear and some build up of fluids that could potentially lead to an ear infection.. she told me to keep an eye out to see if it starts bothering her and that if it dose to call up there and will notate that I would be able to get a prescription for her ...well it comes Thursday and I notice her ear bothering her so I call Friday mornin to talk to a nurse and I have to leave a message so I did .. I call later and talk to the front desk and the lady tries to transfer me to the nurse to leave a message and I explain to her I have already done that so she goes and talks to the nurse and tells me she will return my call today , well she didnt so I now had to call after hours and the doctor didnt put in the notes that we could call in for a prescription so now they want me to come if for a visit again ... not happening... the place is dirty , no toys for kids to play with , the staff are very unfriendly... kids do not want to go to the doctors in the first place and you would think the staff would take that into consideration and be very welcoming but there not .. rude misserable people that are just hungry for money ..

I had my son switched to growing child pediatrics over TWO months ago & I still have yet to see them. I have a well checked scheduled for the end of November even though I called about it two months ago, they told me that was the first one they had open and they were quite rudw. It was annoying but I didnt let it bother me. This morning I called them to see if they take sick walk ins and it the phone was ringing & all of the sudden it disconnected. So I called again, ringing then after about 3 minutes of ringing it disconnected AGAIN and now when I call back the line is busy. Now Im more than sure that the phone lines arent blowing up 10 minutes after opening and the estimated wait time was less than one minute so that proves to me that there wasnt anyone else calling so why would the phone line be busy? Im guessing the staff is feeling lazy and doesnt want to answer phones yet. Absolute disregard for their patients.

We had what was probably the worst experience with a pediatrician that we have ever had when we switched our children to Growing Child Pediatrics. I have four children and moved to Clayton from Pittsburgh PA, where we had a wonderful pediatrician for 12 years. I originally took my kids to Jeffers and Mann, but because they dont prescribe psychiatric medication and my then 12 year old was on a very low dose of Prozac for generalized anxiety disorder, I took him to Growing Child Pediatrics because I I was under the impression that they had prescribing doctors knowledgeable about these conditions. The office itself is small and set up oddly, and the people at the front desk are very rude. I was willing to look past that because I was excited to have a pediatrician that could hopefully help my son. Unfortunately, the first nurse that came in was extremely distracted and seemed emotionally checked out. When we finally saw the actual pediatrician after waiting a very very long time, she was also rude and seemed emotionally checked out. She never made eye contact with my 12 year old son. She barely made eye contact with me and never even smiled during the entire appointment. It was very strange and it made me feel like something had happened in the office that upset everyone moments before we came in. Anyway, she told me that the very low dose my son had been on wasnt possibly doing anything for him and that we should just discontinue the medication, cold turkey. She did not want to refill it even though it was a prescription from Pittsburgh and she literally spent about eight minutes talking to us. I left feeling bewildered and uncomfortable with the snap judgment shed made. Long story short, when it became pretty evident that discontinuing his medication was not the right solution, I tried to get back in touch with her or even discuss it over the phone, and I could never do that because of all the scheduling difficulties they were having. I finally gave up and just drove back to their office at one point to get someone in front of me to discuss the problem. They have this ADHD Clinic attached where they try to sell you vitamins and basically told me that they will not refill his prescription or even schedule an appt with the pediatrician again until I go through this protocol they have to rule out ADHD. I thought that was really crazy because my son definitely did not have ADHD. In Pittsburgh, he was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, he did really well in school and had no problems focusing, was a straight-A student, and just had some anxiety that we were also dealing with with therapy. The entire thing was handled so poorly and at one point I was 9 months pregnant and in tears in their reception area because I felt so completely frustrated and unable to get my son to help that he needed. Thankfully, he grew out of his anxiety and therapy helped, and eventually he stopped needing the Prozac. But I would not wish my experience at Growing Child Pediatrics on any parent. It was absolutely appalling.

This is the Absolute WORST, pediatricians office I have ever come across. My daughter used to go to Capitol Pediatrics in knightdale, and when moving to Clayton we switched her here. During our first visit here I had a bad feeling. When you first walk in the receptionist area is nice, well doctorated, huge desk. Then you walk through separate glass doors to what they call the waiting area. Now mind you this is a CHILDRENS doctors office. It is a plain white room, with old chairs lined along the walls, an old stack of ripped up magazines, and absolutely NO TOYS. There is not one single thing for a child to play with I. There, look at, or even cartoons playing on the t.v (news station was on) the walls are white and bland, there is no feel good vibe for the children who are sitting waiting to be seen. I had my daughter there for an appointment for a bad cold, she is three years old. This was here first visit here so that had her do a few things such as tell the nurse what certain pictures look like from a distance, count stickers stuck to the carpet, and cover her eye with a spoon and describe images. She was very SICK at this appointment, and was not up to much of it. The nurse seemed very annoyed and mentioned my daughter was not cooperating so we can just go sit in the room now and wait for the doctor. After seeing the doctor and getting ready to leave, I asked the doctor if they had any lollipops or a prize bin with stickers or something. I had promised my daughter that the doctors wouldnt be that bad and the best part was when we get to leave and you get to pick something out. Maybe Im old fashioned but this is how every visit went for me as a kid, always a prize bin or a bucket with stickers and lollipops in it, something to get your spirits up when your sick and have to be at the doctors. The doctor looked at me and said well, we usually only do that when they have an appointment to get shots. We walked out into the hallway thinking she was going to make an exception for this only on shots day rule they have. I just stood there in the hallways with my daughter waiting to see if I needed to give the receptionist my paperwork or if we were all done. After a moment she noticed me still there and said oh you guys are all done, nurse, (cant remember her name) can you get the prize bin down for her. They let her pick out a toy and and we were on our way. Not once did anyone in there smile, talk to my daughter, laugh, or even show a hint of enjoying their job. They all looked miserable and treated us as if we were a burden. This was a a few months ago. Now fast forward to present day. My husband took this past Monday off of work to take her to the doctors, she had another bad cold (she is new to daycare and still adjusting to all the new germs) This time he brought her to the Zebulon office because there were no available appointments in Clayton. I didnt hear much about the office visit there, other than the fact that they had a small play kitchen with about two play toys to go with it, and they looked really old and worn down. My husband actually mentioned this to me, without even knowing I had found it weird there were NO TOYS at the Clayton location, he thought it was odd too I guess, ya know since were talking a childrens doctors office and all. The doctor (Mary carol is her name) gave my husband the verdict on her health as follows: your daughter has a cold, and what looks to be the beginning of an ear infection. There is some redness in her ears, and some build up, no fever. Im not going to take any action right now, as she is not complaining about her ears. However if she begins to complain about her ears later in the week give us a call and we can call her in a prescription. I will notate all this in her chart so there wont be any issues, and so you will not have to come back up here. Its now Friday, and she is complaining about her ears hurting, call up there 5 times today, get promised a call back every time, guess what? She has to be seen again, they will NOT call in prescription. what a JOKE.
