CrossFit Chula Vista is a great place to get your sweat on. There is careful care to bring each person to where they are safe and comfortable. The instruction is very specific and detailed. There’s tons of energy and team motivation. The landscape is competitive and everyone cheers each other on. As general team rules: “No whining, no complaining, and suffer in silence.” It’s fun.

Rick and crew are great. Very informative and helpful. They make sure your technique is right and if it isnt, they help correct your issues. Plus location is clean and they make sure everyone cleans up after themselves. Great place to train for anyone.

Whenever Im visiting in the Chula Vista area, CrossFit Chula Vista is my go-to box. Coach Rick, the owner, and the other coaches, made me feel like this was home although I am visitor. As a former CrossFit coach and as a traveling athlete due to the military, there are three components that I feel make an exceptional box:1. The quality of instruction and programming/design of the work out - I could tell the quality of the coaching and the design of the work outs on whenever I visit are well thought-out.2. The equipment in the box - there is a variety of equipment, neatly organized, and ergonomically emplaced to ensure a quality work out. Overall cleanliness of the box was excellent.3. People - the most important factor: the athletes at CrossFit Chula Vista have spirit. You can tell that same warrior ethos mentality that Rick personifies from his experience in the military influences the community. The people love CrossFit Chula Vista, and they seem to be happy to be there. When you get people to celebrate the holiday season by wearing Christmas Sweaters during a workout, or celebrate with a toast after a class is finished with the athletes and the coaches, the people make the box great.Looking forward to drop in again sometime in the near future.

For the past year, this CrossFit box was more of a family than a gym. Rick and his team of coaches made us feel welcome and I felt sad when we had to move out of the area. The training here is world-class. The coaches pay attention to your form and technique and they will give you personalized professional feedback that many other places lack. Moreover, the people here are genuine and the love you feel when you join this family is real. I can’t thank you enough for helping me to get in the best shape of my life.

This Gym was welcoming from day one. Truly a family atmosphere. The head coach/ owner is a beast and his fellow coaches don’t fall short of knowledge and willingness to help anyone achieve their goals. Plenty of space to train for any type of athlete and all levels welcome. There is a children’s room as well for parents wanting a workout. Would highly recommend this gym for anyone.

I absolutely love this gym! They have Wonderful coaches who are dedicated to help you accomplish your goals. The gym is well taken care of, has a great layout, great people, and unlike other gyms, they have classes most of the day. I have been going for the past 15 months and moved recently. I’ve been to other gyms and they aren’t like this one. I’ve met some wonderful people here and I miss them!! I highly recommend this gym to anyone at any level.

The owner seemed pretty intent on convincing me that because Id never done CrossFit before that either I didnt belong or couldnt hang (maybe both). I shrugged that unusual greeting off and did a walk-in class today anyway. My feedback after having taken that class is that Ive been to a lot of different fitness places in the city, county, state, country and world. Most of them are welcoming and encouraging. CrossFit Chula Vista was neither, which is a shame because its very close to my parents and brothers houses. I come to visit often. I was hoping that Id like CrossFit Chula Vista and that I could get a workout in whenever Im in town. However, I wont be coming back and would not recommend this place.

Ive been to several CrossFit places and they are all wonderful, which I think if a facet of CrossFit in general. This location goes above and beyond, and no matter the class size I feel like there was great attention placed on all the athletes.

My review is simply based on the great things Ive heard about crossfit in general. I used to be in great shape until I had major surgery in 2014 and now I cant lose weight for some reason, I put on 30lbs. This place is just so expensive.

Chula Vista Training Center (aka Crossfit Chula Vista) is a wonderful place to start your fitness journey. As a prior coach there, I may have a bias opinion but this place left a lasting impression on me. I was closely involved with this gym for five years, as a member, a coach, and an advocate, of the environment and vision that Rick (the owner) has committed to instill throughout his gym. Rick and his staff work tirelessly to make new and seasoned members feel like they are part of a family. Many gyms claim this type of environment but few can effectively execute it. Rick and his staff have done just that. The gym is very large, with well taken care of equipment throughout. Rick consistently purchases new equipment for the gym which is very important. It shows that he takes pride in his gym and wants to give his clients the best possible experience. Rick and his staff have many different programs geared to any type of athlete that walks through the door.I left Chula Vista Training Center to attend university out-of-state but the decision to leave was difficult and I miss it. I believe that whoever joins CVTC will have a similar experience and will find it hard to part ways, if need be. I will finish with this, if you are at all interested in experiencing a proper gym with knowledgeable coaches and an inspiring and encouraging environment, walk through the doors of CVTC. Whether you are a newbie, a fitness vet, younger, older, or somewhere in between, you will not be disappointed.

My experience with CFCV has been nothing short of fantastic. I started CrossFit about four and a half years ago, and was hooked; then, about six months ago, I dropped in at CFCV during a search for a new home. After several visits, I knew Id be happy there. The coaches are knowledgeable and friendly, and my gym-mates are fun and welcoming! Ive never felt any kind of favoritism or cliquishness like in other gyms; quite the contrary, everybody from staff to members is genuinely interested in everybodys physical and mental well-being. There is a sincere desire for overall wellness. Like many others, I have my aches, pains, and physical issues, but in my time with CFCV, I have been able to work around those and overcome them.I am now stronger and healthier than ever. I am again able to workout regularly. Even on days that I dont feel like taking the time to workout, because we all know those days exist, I get up and go to the gym, if for nothing else to see my gym familys faces. Afterwards, I am always thankful I did. Even bad gym days arent bad.We recently completed an 8-week strength cycle and I can happily brag that I hit PRs in each of the the three lifts on which we focused: back squats (35#), push press (15#), and front squats (20#). While the programming was awesome, and the other members helped push me, it was really the coaches that gave me the extra push I needed. I absolutely love all the coaches, but Joe and Rocio really go the extra mile for me(us), always. They know my abilities, my inadequacies, and how to develop me further.I have been putting off giving a review of CFCV for six months, to give enough time to really get to know the gym. What did I learn in that time? That I absolutely love my new gym and the people in it, and I love the person I am there: not scared of failure, unfiltered, apologetically sweaty, and constantly striving for more. Added bonus: its cheaper than therapy. If youve been considering trying CrossFit, do it. If youre looking for a place to start, CFCV is an excellent choice!

I’ve been at Crossfit Chula Vista for over a year now. I can’t say how grateful I am for this establishment. I am stronger and healthier that I have ever been. I remember when I walked in the door for the first time; I told Rick that I wasn’t really into the lifting aspect of the program because I have a congenital back problem. He told me that if I stuck around, he would straighten me out. Needless to say, I wasn’t really convinced. I have always had pain and was told by my doctors that I would need surgery in order to feel better. Worse yet, the potential side effects scared the hell out of me.After 14 months and I can tell you that I haven’t had pain for some time now. I can’t even remember the last time it hurt. It may be fatigued from exercising once in a while, but that is much different than crippling shooting pains, which was a regular part of my life.I started Olympic lifting there when Edgar and Evelyn from E2OlyFit started teaching twice a week. I can’t believe that I can actually do it and enjoy it. For me, it sort of like someone being petrified of water now being on the swim team. Edgar and Evelyn are awesome coaches who are experts in their field. All my misconceptions about moving heavy weight with my back have been obliterated. I even lifted in a competition which is something that I never thought I would say. The best part about it is my daughter (who is 9 years old and weighs 90 lbs) climbs on me like a jungle gym and I have no issues launching her in the air. Priceless! The coaches are very knowledgeable and personable. I cannot express my gratitude for their constant encouragement. Melissa will give you a shot of self-esteem that will boost you no matter how tired and exhausted you are. This is not like a traditional gym with a lot of fancy equipment with people standing in lines looking at each other. It’s a place to be trained to be the best version of yourself you can be. It mandates coaches who are trained and actually care about your success. There are a lot of resources available. They offer nutritional counseling and even organized grass-fed beef orders for those who eat paleo. Rick outsources the best coaches to come and teach clinics. There are periodic monthly challenges for a small entry fee and the winner who improves the most wins the pot. There is always something to keep you engaged and motivated. You will definitely get out of it what you put into it. It’s as simple as leaving your excuses at home and showing up. I came to the conclusion that either I could be in the best shape of my life in the next year or the worst. I am grateful for Rick and his team.
