We never actually made it to our appointments as they were removed from the schedule. I made appointments months ago for my 4 children. I received a call at 2:30 the day before our appointments (while I was working and could not answer my phone) and was informed that I had 1 hour to call and go over the Covid questionnaire or that my appointments would be cancelled. As I was working, I didnt even receive the message until 4 pm, at which point I called. No one answered so I left a voicemail. When I spoke to someone the morning of the appointment they confirmed that I was no longer on the schedule and that we would need to reschedule months out.This is an unreasonable way to handle screening patients. How about this, me NOT calling to cancel, is me confirming our appointments!Or, give patients a reasonable amount of time to call back.We will no longer be going to Spencer Dental.

I had taken my one year old there for a check up. The office was cleaned and safe, the staff was amazing and understanding! As a first time mom I was very worried about the appointment and they had helped calm me down along with my one year old. The dentist took time to answer any questions and address any concerns I had. I was very pleased with everything from the office the staff to the appointment reminder. I will be bringing my child back!

This is not a very professional business. The Dentist can cancel any time do to unexpected travel delays but a patient cannot!!!!! Traveled there many times to find out they are short staffed...ok it happens to the best of us. Also traveled to find out the appointment was not in computer only on the card in my hand. Very unprofessional......do not recommend this dental office to anyone!

If there is a zero star, I will absolutely choose zero stars! Waste time! The first time we went there with an appointment at 3:30 pm, we waited one hour, but they refused to obey the appointment, then rescheduled the appointment and asked us to leave because they could not verify the insurance and needed to serve the ones later than us. The next day, even they confirmed the insurance, they still asked us to wait for ONE hour!! No customer has such time to WASTE!! Besides their lousy attitude to customers, the equipment and office conditions are the worst, unprofessional. We strongly not recommend this dental clinic. Stay away from Spencer Dental!

Run 🏃‍♂️ as fast as you can away from this place. Worst dental office ever!!! They numb you for literally no reason. Lose your crowns. Or break them. Refuse to see you even though you confirmed your appointment. Thats just a little of what Ive had to deal with with these so called professionals. They dont deserve the 1 star review but sadly not an option for 0.

This is honestly the worst dentist I have ever been to. I went in for wisdom teeth removal and they told me that everything would be fine and didnt go through any information with me what so ever. I was already really nervous and I had a very young male doctor. As they gave me the shots for numbing it seem to get worse I told them my left bottom side wasnt numb and they completely ignored me. And the nurse was blasting her music the while time. I felt them yank the tooth out and it hurt really bad. After I completely healed I went back to their office to see if I could talk to a manager or supervisor about my experience and the lady at the front desk told me I needed to leave instead. Not to mention I lost all feeling in my bottom lip and mouth for at least 4 months and they told me that it was normal, I also ended up seeing a new dentist at a different location and got told that they didnt get all of my wisdom tooth out and loosing feeling like that for that long was not normal that they must have damaged a nerve. So save yourself the trouble with this place and go somewhere else. Because they seriously do not care.

I have four children, three with special needs. I scheduled their cleanings at their last appointment 6 months ago, and put it on my calendar. When I arrived at our scheduled appointment time today after driving an hour with four children and two of my children’s behavior therapists, I was told that they had not been able to reach me by phone to answer the Covid questionnaire, so they had no choice but to remove us from the schedule. I spoke to the office manager (Alecia). I told her that I had driven an hour to this appointment, and so had the two behavior therapists who were there with my 4 year old twins. Her response? “Aside from rescheduling them for another day, what can I do for you?” I told her that my children would either be seen that day or they would not be back. She shrugged and said, “I’m sorry, they’re not on the schedule today”. (Side note, the reason they couldn’t reach me by phone is because an employee switched my phone number with the emergency contact number, and they never actually called the phone number I gave them)I used to be a dental assistant at this very office. I know that they COULD have put them back on the schedule and honored the appointments. They simply chose not to. As an employee, I witnessed patients waiting for hours for an appointment, only to be told that the dentist went home because they get off at 6, and they would have to reschedule. This company should be closed down permanently. The employees don’t care about the patients, which trickles down from the stance at corporate. This is a business, there to profit from patients - not care for them.

I have never had a single problem out of this practice. Since becoming Spencer Dental, the process has been painless, the front and back employees are helpful and they are great with my kids! For me, dental practices are not easy to come by due to my state insurance, so to find one that is actually pretty good, and makes me feel safe to continue going, thats the reason for my 4 stars.

The staff are wonderful but in particular one dental assistant named Brittany went out of her way to make me feel calm, and she really did her job better than any other dental assistant Ive ever heard about or personally seen. Is there a way to make sure Brittany gets a pay raise or something, im dead serious when I say that this women seems to have a alot going on in her life based on the small things we talked about, and I can understand, and wish her the best....and will someone help get this extremely hard working womens raise in her salary, she is underutilized and deserves it....thank you dental assistant britt

I can understand why they received two star review. My fiancee had several teeth extracted. After leaving that appointment we had several concerns, tried for hours to reach the office and no one would answer. We drove an hour and thirty minutes today for a follow-up appointment, we called to let them know we were running late due to the weather and car doors being frozen shut. They refused to see us. I would recommend a new office manager with a better disposition. I feel something more could have been done and we could have been seen. Poor customer service. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.I TRIED TO CALL THE NUMBER THAT YOUR COMPANY LEFT TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER AND THE NUMBER DOESNT WORK...

I was called last week due to a cancelation where I was able to come in Friday, April 30th, where I had x-rays and assessment, and was able to be seen today (Monday, May 3rd) to get an extraction. I arrived at the office about 5-10 minutes early and was checked in within about 15 minutes I was called back where the assistant (I wish I would have got her name) was very professional and even helped me to feel more at ease. Dr. Harmon was excellent, and that is saying a lot because I have a fear of dentists due to past experiences elsewhere.I was feeling very anxious prior to my appointment last week due to reading some of the reviews that were left, but I was treated great by the staff all around!

Ive been trying to get an appointment with these dentists for about six months now, as theyre the only people who take medicaid in the area. I have never been so disappointed by services. Ive tried to schedule an appointment at least ten times. Each time it would kick back and say I couldnt schedule for that day. The last time, about three weeks ago now, it kicked back and said Id need to call the spencer dental scheduling hotline number. Called them, got scheduled, finally. Ive been needing to go because its been two years since Ive gotten a cleaning (because of COVID and dental benefits not being great at the time), and my wisdom teeth are coming in without room. So I FINALLY have an appointment, take time off work... and then I get a call yesterday at work. They left a voicemail saying that the day I have my appointment scheduled is the day their office is randomly closing (no reason given) for about a week and a half. Huh? If thats the case, how was I able to be scheduled on that date from someone on your team? To make it all worse, they put me on a call list, rather than having me call back to reschedule. Every time Ive been put on a call list I never hear anything back. I wish there were better dental options in the area for medicaid users, but so far based on my experience, this deserves a one star review. If they up their game and I actually do get a call from them with an appointment that doesnt get randomly canceled, maybe my review will change. But as of right now, Im looking for a new dentist yet again.Update: Before writing this interview I attempted to reschedule online. Guess who got another kick back message saying that time slot, scheduled a month out, was now taken? So frustrating.

I will never go back here again. I have been in pain since i left their office. They didnt even tell me they had called in meds in which it was 3 days before i even found out. They were unfriendly and gave no oral instructions for after care. The dentist was rough causing my entire right face to be sore for days. Will never go back! Do not go to this place. You will regret it.

If I could leave no star I would! I came here with 5 kids and there appointments started at 1:15 and we arrived early to do the paperwork. They call us back pretty fast and literally forgot about what they had done and what needed to be done to each child. I get a lot has changed with COVID but still shouldn’t take 5 HOURS!!!!!😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 I’m gonna look for a new dentist!

I WOULD NOT GO HERE.A few months ago, my husband came to Spencer Dental to have a wisdom tooth cut out. The oral surgeon that comes once a month was very late getting there (5 hours late). We waited there for over 2 hours more, along with a whole waiting room full of people. When he began the procedure, the Dr. removed the tooth in front of the wisdom tooth, saying it was cracked. It was not. Our family dentist had just filled it 5 days before.He ended up with a bad infection in the site, lost 17 days of unpaid work, had to pay a lot to another oral surgeon to clean out the site and get the infection in his jaw under control.He now also has permanent nerve damage and numbness in the front of his lower jaw.The people in the back were nice enough, but the front staff were not.Also, there was no help when he began suffering uncontrollable pain.

Absolutely the worst dentist and care in the area, The way this dentist office is run should be illegal, We waited 3 months for a appointment, Then they call at 9am the day before(Dont leave a voicemail) and want me to call back before 10am to confirm my appointment or loose it, while Im at work at not allowed on the phone, So I have no appointment now, And took the day off work for the appointment so lost income. They had to redo 5 of the 14 fillings they put in. They were always behind schedule and on average Id spend 3 hours at each 1 hour appointment cause they overbook. The only positive thing I have to say is that the people are nice

Ok ,usually I dont write reviews. But now Im fed up with this place for a second time.I gave them a second chance that I regret. My appointment was scheduled at 2pm I arrived ay 1:40 PM for paperwork .I wrote my name to be called to fill the information while the receptionist was talking in the phone . I sat down till she finishes instead she started another call to remind them for their appointment.not once but three calls till I stood up in front of her .then she said how can I help you ?Really you didnt read my name. I said Im here to check in.then she printed my paper with attitude. Took the paper filled out handed them to her back while she was talking on the phone (no costumes Services what so ever).I sat down waiting for 40 minutes while theyre calling people that came after me.I was furious I told one of dentist assistants how long do I have to wait.she responded with attitude there is three different appointments going on .not my problem 20 min later receptionist called my name took me inside and left me there for another 15 min . I was done waiting I get up left told her I was never coming back and please not to harass me ever never again. AT LEAST THEY COULD EMPTY TRASH CANS.

I wanted to leave a review since I see so many terrible ones. I have been there about 4 times and am now taking my two year old son there. We have had wonderful experiences every time we have gone! Never had to wait long, everyone is kind and professional. I am terrified of the dentist, even at 28 years old I cry when they start the process, but the dentist is so kind,gentle and reassuring. The only bad thing I will say is, when I had to have my wisdom teeth removed and was in a tremendous amount of pain, they couldn’t remove them right away because they have a traveling dentist come in once a month for extractions. The traveling dentist they use however is WONDERFUL and so is his nurses! I had 0 issues during/after my removal, but waiting a month in terrible pain wasn’t great. All in all I think it’s a really great place and plan to keep going!

I just took my 3 and 2 year old for their visit and my daughter is at the age where shes scared of doctors and nurses but they were friendly and patient with her and made sure to help her get calmed down and was wonderful with my son, explaining and showing him everything. They didnt push them,worked around them. Much better experience than previously thought

Was seen for an abscess, while there the girl working with me changed gloves 4 times and never washed her hands. Staff including the dentist appeared to be incapable of basic listening skills ignoring my responses consistently. Prescribed antibiotics at half the dosage I was already on and expecting me to wait a month for a follow up appointment to have exctractions done with full blown abscess. 💯 do not recommend.

I took my three kids there back in November and the front people where wonderful but the dentist hygenist was rude and just awful with my 7 year old and the I also had my little girl that was 18 months old trying to get her not to be scared but that didnt work just not kid friendly at all.

Took me a month to get an appointment! Then drove 8 hours for this appointment (college student so I went home could have stayed at home for longer but instead I decided to come back early for this appointment) to show up at the door and for them to only say “sorry” that they can no longer take me.... they didn’t even call me in advance to let me know they were canceling my appointment. I had even received a text message DAY OF confirming my appointment.... So thank you for that “sorry” but that does not help that I wasted my time, money, and gas to come to terrible service. I wouldn’t be as upset if they would have just been considerate and called me to let me know they were canceling my appointment.

After making the appt & receiving approval that they accepted my insurance that would have paid 100%, when I get there & we begin the process I mentioned my insurance & find out they no longer accept my insurance. So I stopped what we were doing & they were billing me $45 for my waste of time & travel. However, they send me a bill for $231. What a RIP OFF! This place is a non-professional joke & should not be in business to con the public! They lied to get me in, then charged me for what my insurance would have paid & no dental work was even done! Dont waste your time & money for such incompetence!

Horrible, horrible, horrible experiences! We take our foster children because they accept Medicaid. But it is down right the worst medical experience we have ever experienced. You wait for literal hours on end past your appointment time. How unprofessional! And to not warn a child about Novocaine! Also incredibly insane! We have a child crazy nervous who we have to talk through the procedure instead of the professionals doing their job! Awful place. Seriously, so awful!

I had an appointment this company already called and canceled 3 times. We had appoint today. We do not live close. Large lady with black hair and bad arm tats said she canceled my appoint because I did not confirm 24 hours befor appointment. She said she called. She called me using different numbers than what phone number to office was. Due to spoofers i do not answer unknown numbers. She told me this is every dentist in the world policy. So glad she knows policy of every dentist in the world but is unable to tell Patients these polices and correct office numbers when they make appointments. She is just on a power trip. She kept looking at her watch and never offered to set up another appointment. People like her need to be put in check because their CARELESSNESS and cost business owners money. Glad I did not recieve their service as I look at all the bad reviews. Bad office. Go somewhere where people want to help not get a kick out of messing with people.

The front desk area seemed very unprofessional and disorganized. My husband went in for a wisdom teeth extraction consultation and they didnt even have his x-rays. They could have asked for them days in advance from our dentists office. Instead, they asked for them as my husband arrived. He then had to wait over half an hour past his appointment to meet with the staff for about 5 minutes. They didnt tell him much about prep or what to expect for the procedure. It made him and me very anxious about the procedure.

I took my 5 yr old Granddaughter for her first visit before starting Kindergarten. We went on a Saturday. There was hardly any wait. She had a great time playing with the other kids in the waiting room. The Dental assistant, I wish I got his name, he was great with her. He got down to her level to speak to her. She had her first set of xrays. He was very patient. I am very happy with our visit. We will be back in February and hopefully will have some new molars and maybe will lose a baby tooth by then.

This is absolutely the worst company I have ever had to deal with regarding any kind of dental issueI was a new customer and got a voicemail out of the blue stating that my appointment was gonna be canceled within a couple of hours if I didnt call them back immediatelyWhen I try to call them back it took me an hour and 15 minutes to get a hold of somebody and that was through the corporate office the local Christiansburg branch never did answer everthen when I tried to explain my frustration to the office manager at Christiansburg he was rude and hung up on me . I told him I had this voicemail from his staff and he didnt want to hear about itIm a new patient and I cant get a hold of somebody at a medical office for over an hour? I dont think Im gonna need these people to do my dental work

Very efficient, pleasant staff and environment. My appointment was at 9, and after xrays and a cleaning I was out by 10. Barely waited 5 minutes in the lobby. Wasted no time setting my next appointment up, and hygienist even walked me to front desk with paperwork to check out. One of the easiest medical appointments Ive ever had. Thanks!

I went in to have an appointment for my wisdom teeth removal and a root canal Im having across the state, because there is no endodontist in the area. Apparently their oral surgeon is only in once a month, so he only has so many openings to be seen, and they dont schedule more than two months out in advance. Pretty inconvenient.

If I could give this place zero stars I would... we have been going here for two years and they have been nothing but a pain. The scheduling was a nightmare, came multiple times to get fillings and nothing was done and the wait time was ridiculous to wait and have nothing done! If you have somewhere that will take your insurance go somewhere else. Shame on me but we have repeatedly came back hoping for a different result but has never been different.

This place doesnt seem to have it together. They always have around 10 kids in here waiting and only one dentist who is nowhere to be seen. Every time I take my kids here Im here for at least 3 hours which is ridiculous considering it takes 5 minutes for the dentist to actually check their teeth and then theyre gone again. Avoid at all costs. This is the cheapest place that takes our insurance, so we figured it would be worth it to pay a little less and go here. Just to get a crown replaced, weve had 4 total appointments, countless hours spent in the room waiting for the doctor and weve showed up for our appointment only to have the person at the front desk say they made a mistake and will have to reschedule. Some of the work that goes on in this office is borderline malpractice. It took multiple phone calls to the corporate office and to this location itself to speak to someone about the issues we were having to receive a minimal amount of proper attention from the staff at Spencer. Enter at your own risk, you literally might need a lawyer.

Do yourself a favor,go to a real dentist.if you have a tooth that is so painful,and you are told they can see see you in about 6 weeks.i toid them this was an emergency,they agreed to see me 3 days later.then was told they could not do something today,but put me on a plan to deal with it.when I insisted they need to do something now,I was told,there is the door.i have family and friends that are patients there,but no More had previously given them another chance after some poor work.

One of my worst experiences regarding my health care so far. I went there for root canal and crown. Root canal was ok, but for the crown, unfortunately, it was very bad. They postponed my crown appointment several times, because the permanent crown was not ready for a long time. I moved out to another city, and when the crown got ready, I had to get a flight to get back for the second visit. After returning, my crowned tooth was sore. Its still painful when I eat food using the crowned tooth. And guess what?! I received a bill of $750 even I paid full!!!!.

I only give this place a 1 because of the terribly unprofessional girl at the front desk. She makes our visits there awful that my blood pressure literally goes up just thinking about it. We have been there twice in the last month, and we have watched her snap at other staff and at patients. Everyone walking on egg shells to avoid her. If the dentist, Dr Cheeta ( not sure of the spelling), wasnt the best dentist my little girl has been to, we wouldnt go back. Hopefully you guys can train/or replace her, for someone more professional!

Terrible, disorganized, no privacy while you’re getting jabbed in the mouth. And normally a cleaning is fully covered by insurance with xrays twice a year. Not the way they bill it. They bill each service individually to make more money then charged me $175 for what’s left over. Don’t go if you have private insurance, they will make you PAY!

I had my wisdom teeth romoved, the hardest part, and most painful was getting the injections for pain before the extractions and the wait time to go back. I did not feel any thing durring the procedure. I had laughing gas but I honestly dont think it was need. I was super nerves but left really impressed!!

Dr. Brown and Samantha were very attentive. They picked up on the fact that I was still in pain after my initial shot of novacaine and gave me another. I’ve only had dental work done one other time before this and honestly thought it just hurt like hell to get a fill in. I was in no pain afterwards. They were also amazing with my four children. Also, really unimportant but it meant a lot. My lips were incredibly dry and one of the dental assistances told me where to get bottled water (free of charge) and that just meant a lot to me.

I went in due to a infection the first time and needed a extraction done, they attempted to numb it but due to the infection it didnt go numb so they gave me antibotics and I went back a few days later with a even larger face and more infection. They gave me a stronger antibotic but it took 2 days to get it due to something with their fax or walmarts. No blame so I come back again after the infection bust in my mouth which was discusting and I get there at 7:45 am after 10 days of this and Im told the Dr is running late. Im sorry but the dr can say screw $500 dollars I cant to my little $180 a day. So I asked to reschedule and they wanted to move me out 2 more weeks. They like to overbook but commone sense should kick in sometime. Changing the name from Kool smiles and keeping the same practices doesnt improve quality of a company. When youre at the mercy of your insurance where you can go your choices are limited.

Good Atmosphere. Short time in waiting room. Take medicare! Brianna was very good with xrays. Hanna measured spacing and depth betw gums and teeth. Said she couldnt clean - numbers too high. DrBrown came, looked at numbers and agreed. Said SRP needed - scraping and re-planing - requiring long visit and anesthesia. Would have to come back another day. Something seemed off - Hanna didnt want to clean or explain and did numbers very fast. Asked DrBrown to doublecheck numbers - remeasure. She agreed! Re-measured. Numbers were off! Did not need SRP! Asked for different cleaner, got Shannon. Shannon supportive of advocating for self. Shannon good at explaining, took her time cleaning, did a great job! Visit took 2.5 hours but worked out in the end due to self-advocating and thorough questioning. DrBrown was positive about outcome, non-judgemental or hurried. Problem was Hanna too self oriented not careful or patient empathetic. Problem is its mostly kids who wont self advocate so watch out for them parents and question anything you feel is not right. Thanks DrBrown for honoring requests!

Dont bother making an appointment as you will be lucky if you are seen within 2 hours after your appointment time. We have been coming here for several years but today will be our last visit, this is ridiculous!!! The last 2 appointments weve had to wait for about 2 hours and when you ask what the problem is they act like you should be ok with waiting...ummmm hello thats why we made an appointment!

If I had realized this was Kool Smiles under a different name, I wouldve never taken my four year old son there to begin with. My son had been to two different dentists within the two weeks leading up to us going to Spencer Dental. It was determined at previous dental visits at the other locations that he has eight cavities. The soonest appointment at the other locations for his teeth to be fixed was six months out. At Spencer Dental, they guaranteed (before making an appointment) that it would be completed next month. The appointment was for x-rays because they didnt want to use x-rays from other places. We arrived ten minutes early for my sons 1:00 appointment. We were skipped over many times and not taken back until about 2:30. We were taken to a big room with a handful of dental chairs (which doesnt seem to value privacy, in my opinion). A lady came over and addressed my son, asking if he was ready to have his teeth cleaned. I told her we werent there for a cleaning; just x-rays as he had a cleaning at another place within the past two weeks. She apologized and responded by saying that she was new and didnt quite know what she was doing. That didnt make me feel very comfortable or trusting that she openly admitted she didnt know what she was doing. She walked away and my son went to play with toys in the corner. I told him we were leaving and to put the toys back. As I went to get up, we were approached by two people. I told them how awful it had been so far and about the horrible service and that we were leaving. They said well, were here now. Probably against my better judgement, we stayed for the x-rays. A manager of some sort, Keisha was her name-- was the only helpful person. She assured us it would be better and he could have his teeth fixed next month and to let the appointment scheduler know that we wanted a later appointment. The appointment scheduler argued with me about it when we got out front to make the appointment. I told her to have Keisha come out, so she obliged. Keisha told the scheduler exactly what she told us.If my son werent in such need for his teeth to be fixed, I wouldve continued to look elsewhere. Also, I have received numerous calls from the office where no voicemail was left. Im talking 3-6 calls a day. Finally, I answered. It was their headquarters wanting me to schedule a cleaning in December for my son. I told them no. They continued to call after I told them no. Yesterday, I again answered the call and told them no, and to quit calling me.The name may have changed, but the horrible service has not. See Kool Smiles in Christiansburg for more reviews.

This place they broke a file off in one of teeth trying to do a root canal and didnt tell me said I have to go to another dentist because something was blocking off one of my roots. YES IT IS A PICE OF FILE YOUR DOCTOR BROKE OFF. I HAVE XRAY SHOWING AND THEY HAVR XRAY SHOWING NO FILE IN TOOTH UNTIL THEY BROKE ANOTHER DENTIST WANTS 425 DOLLORS TO REMOVE IT plus now they took our a collection on me I want to explain I called and ask if my insh.was in their net work I was told it was so I had some work done and recived a bill I told them up front what my ish. Pay so after getting some work I recived a bill after I paid my part talk to insh. Company they said the doctor wasnt in net work talked to office MANGER was told doctor was new and she would take care of recived a other bill talk to MANGER again was told not to worry recived a bill from collector called officer manger was told again dont want worry then I recived a notice that 6 collections had been put on my credit so I called the office MANGER again this time it was a new manger this time she was real nice a d she would look into it so I called back two weeks later when I talked to the manager it was talking to a different person she was rude short a d I ask her what happen to that nice person I talked two weeks ago she told me she have district mAnger call me waited two months never recived so I now working with I C SYSTEMS despising charges and havent heard back i may owe a small amount but thats it has cost 23 points on my credit score this shouldnt never to a person.i would check for a different dentist maybe a local one their a binge chain and they cant take care and if their is a problem. LOOK OUT YOUR OWN YOUR OWN look at their Google ratings alot of one stars
