It took 4 days to schedule my physical therapy after surgery when it should take less than an hour. After I reached out to IBJI to find out the problem I was told they were switching to a new computer system and that was causing confusion.

Their customer service is extremely nonchalant. I felt like a nuisance that they want to get in and out as soon as possible. They refused to tell me how much an x-ray was going to cost because I have a coinsurance of 10%. I know that pricing is complicated with healthcare but they couldn’t even be bothered.

I was referred here when I had a complete bicep tendon rupture just before Christmas. As soon as I had an appointment (they carved out time for me the day after I called) Dr. Nam evaluated the problem and gave me several treatment options. I agreed with his assessment that based on my health and age, surgery was the best option.I cant express how happy I am with the results. Its now almost 4 months later and I have a full range of motion, returning strength, and no side effects or lingering issues. The surgery he performed was a complete success (with super minimal scarring - which is still getting fainter and fainter with each passing day).Every time Ive had an appointment there for follow-up evaluations, Ive been shown into a patient room within 5 minutes of my appointment time, and never waited for more than two or three (!) until the doctor walked in to treat me.Dr. Nams staff was super helpful as well. When I couldnt get in for an MRI in a timely manner, they called the facility directly and were able to squeeze me in later that same day! They truly went above and beyond for me. (Ive posted the same review on Yelp, FYI)

I am a new patient. I’m having problems with my right knee which brought me to this clinic. I love the professionalism of the staff. My doctor Aneesh Garq is wonderful. I love the fact that after my first visit and consultation he didn’t automatically suggest or recommend surgery. He outlined a plan of things to try before we settle on surgery which is what I’m trying hard to avoid. So far I’m following the plan with positive results. He is attentive and his staff is far beyond knowledgeable. I’m glad my primary doctor sent me to the Chicago Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine.

Dr. Garg is by far the most intelligent sports doctor I have ever met. I have a history of foot injuries and before even viewing the MRI and CT scan he diagnosed me correctly. He didnt sugarcoat anything, he told me exactly what I needed to do in order to heal and have my active lifestyle back and get back to 100%. I trusted in him and everything he suggested worked. My rehab is going smoother than ever and I cannot be grateful enough for being placed in the right hands. Very satisfied!

I tried to make an appointment, but the rep on the phone was very discourteous. I had all of my insurance information, and did my best to describe the condition. She interrupted my as I was speaking, then she would speak so fast that I was unable to make the notes I needed. This poor manner caused me to look elsewhere for service.

Running a little slow but overall very professional and quick. Dr. Garg came in, asked me how I was feeling and to describe my problems and then did a series of assessments based on that. He quickly wrote me up for Physical Therapy and put me on the first slot for my follow up appointment. Would recommend to anyone!

Dr. Guelichs assistant, Ally went above and beyond in helping me with follow up appointments and referrals. She is friendly, prompt, and organized. She returns calls in a timely manner and checks with insurance companies on reimbursement issues and faxes necessary paperwork for referrals. She is on the ball. I thanked her and she said she has also been a patient and understands the frustrations that comes with healthcare. Dr. Guelich is great also.

Do not use this practice. The doctors only do whats convenient for them and do not have proper policies and procedures to follow up with patients. Dr. Nams office cancelled my 5 week appointment by accident and never followed up with me for another appointment. After 9 weeks I reached out to them and asked why. If I hadnt done this they wouldnt have known. In addition, his office never gave me my therapy protocol. Honestly disgraceful

Ive seen Dr. Garg several times now. Hes the best sports medicine physician Ive ever been to (Im an athlete so Ive seen my share). He is personable, clear, concise and most importantly knows what hes taking about. He understood that I simply wanted to get back to doing what I love and gave me the tools to do that while keeping me informed. Cindy is also kind, knowledgable, and was proactive in simplifying my process. The front desk was quick and friendly. My experiences with this sports medicine clinic have been excellent.

The care I received from Dr Nam has been fine, but as I write this review it is over an hour past my appointment time and I am still waiting to be seen. I may need to cancel and take yet more time off of work as I need to pick my children up from school. I can understand doctors running a little behind but this far behind is unprofessional. I guess a doctors time is more valuable than a patients.

Ive seen Dr. Garg for a head injury several times, and his treatment plan (including PT) has been extremely effective. Not knowing much about head injuries myself, his knowledge on the subject and friendly demeanor were reassuring through what can be an arduous recovery process. Overall, highly recommended practice for anyone seeking treatment or consultation from a sports medicine physician.

The people who schedule the appointments for the doctors were unable to accommodate my needs as a patient. In a rush to get to my appointment I forgot my wallet arrived without my ID or insurance card. I understand that it is not the best position to be in but the receptionist/clerk did nothing to help the situation. I asked if they could call my primary care physician and they refused, stating that they have had bad experiences doing that. The point is that they didn’t even try to accommodate me in any way. They were not rude but off putting and had no empathy for the situation. I feel that something could have been done or at least have tired to do something but nothing.

I am in my mid-sixties and during the second week of March 2018, I experienced pain in my right knee. As it was not getting any better, I went to see my general practitioner. After an x-ray, an ultrasound and an MRI, my problem was diagnosed as a torn meniscus. My doctor gave me a referral to a sports medicine clinic. I made an appointment to see Dr. Ellis Nam, who saw me on June 11th. I looked into his background. He had impeccable credentials and a number of excellent reviews. Some of those reviews are from friends of mine from the health club in which I belong. My friends had nothing but praise for him. Dr. Nam examined my knee, asked a series of pertinent questions and looked at my x-ray and MRI. His verdict? Well, although an option, he wasnt overly keen on cortisone injection. He mention that just doing nothing and learning to live with it was also an option. However, although my injury was unrepairable, he could, via arthroscopic surgery, clean up the tear. This would relieve some of the discomfort and give me back some of my mobility. The procedure would take approximately twenty minutes. I had never considered myself a gambling man...but in this case, I had to throw the dice and go for it.I was scheduled for surgery on June 26th. Everything unfolded pretty much as expected. I had a VERY good feeling about the outcome of this procedure the moment I came out of the anesthesia. The unrelenting pain I was in for 3 1/2 months...was gone!!! I thought it was because of the sedative they gave me but NO. That pain was GONE!!! I now had a new pain. A different pain. A pain caused by the trauma of surgery. A pain that would dissipate with healing and would soon totally disappear!!!I truly appreciate Dr. Nams conservative approach to my situation. He was correct when he said that my condition was not life threatening, but it was quality of life threatening. I discovered on a follow-up visit that my procedure was a trifle more complicated than originally anticipated. It seem that Dr. Nam found more arthritis than he originally thought. He was able to smooth it a bit as well as clean up the tear. It is not surprising that Im feeling so much better. My great passion in life is the fifteen to eighteen hours a week I spend working out at the health club. That torn meniscus jeopardized that passion. Thanks to Dr. Nam, Im back to my daily work-out routine and Ill always be grateful to him for making that possible.

Scheduling an appointment was a disaster. The office is closed for one hour during lunch with NO voice mail. When I did connect with an individual I was repeatedly put on hold. Im about one hour into the appointment scheduling process. I filled out the on-line form on the website before calling but was told that my insurance information is not accessible when I called back without my card in hand as I was out at that moment. As as someone who has a plan with a huge deductible I always ask for the cash option which is usually cheaper. There is no cash discount with this facility. Of course, the only physician who treats sciatica at this facility does not have any availability until one month out.

Saw sports medicine physician Dr. Garg for a shoulder injury. He was great, very caring and very professional. He knows his stuff! Everyone in the office was kind and easy to work with. Dr. Garg diagnosed my problem, gave me lots of information, answered all of my questions and provided a treatment plan. I would recommend him wholeheartedly. Incidentally, while I was in the waiting room I overheard one of Dr. Gargs colleagues saying goodbye to a gentleman who had brought a child in for an appointment. The dad asked the doc to spell his name as he wanted to report to his wife. The doc insisted that the dad take his number and encouraged him to have his wife call so she could ask any questions and put her mind at ease. Very nice.

I was referred to this sports medicine clinic through an injury screening at a nearby physical therapy clinic for pain in my hip. Dr. Garg and his crew were great about getting me in on the same day, which was definitely above and beyond. As a life-long active guy, Ive seen my share of sports medicine physicians, and Dr. Garg has been one of the easiest to work with. He seems to tailor his approach to my personality, and did a really nice job explaining what the issues might be, and why we were taking the next steps we were taking.Im still in the middle of the physical therapy he prescribed, but I have no doubt that whatever direction my injury recovery goes, Dr. Garg and crew will take care of me on both the healthcare and admin side of things, which is a combo that unfortunately doesnt always happen. Thanks for nailing thus far it guys!

I saw Dr. Garg after experiencing a running-related injury in which I tore my calf muscle. I waited a week to see him (when I was in excruciating pain) because his online reviews were so good. Thankfully, the reviews did not lie! Dr. Garg made me feel relaxed & comfortable from the moment I met him. I stressed how much I love working out & Dr. Garg came up with a plan that got me back to the gym ASAP. He listened while I asked questions & made me feel at ease with the solution. My primary care doctor, Kew-Jung Lee, referred me to Dr Vitello at COSM for surgery on the Trigger Thumb that had developed in my right hand. And Im very glad he did.Dr Vitellos reputation as an excellent surgeon is well deserved. He is a calm, reassuring man, and that inspires confidence. Before meeting him, however, I was introduced to his nurse, Cynthia, and was instantly smitten. If theres a kinder, happier, more pleasant human being on earth, Id like to meet her. If Cynthias last name isnt Smile, she ought to consider changing it.Surgery was scheduled at Illinois Masonic and was pretty damn amazing. The surgical center itself is brand spanking new and staffed with the happiest, most competent caregivers I can imagine. From the front desk check-in area to the array of nurses, doctors and assistants who took care of me, this is a top notch operation (so to speak). Special thanks to Amelia(?), Aladino, Charisse, Yuri, Dmitri, Christella, Ro, Dr Hilton, Dr Vitello (again), and special gold stars to Sarah and Amy (both of whom I fell a little in love with) for their warmth and attention. My thumb is healing nicely and I could not be happier with Chicago Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in general, and Dr Vitello and his crew at Illinois Masonic in particular. Well done, and I thank you all.

Very unresponsive to phone calls. Tried to arrange an MRI. Had to call and leave messages repeatedly. After 3, someone called back and promised she would call me within 24 hours. Three days later I called and explained I would be seeing someone else. I asked that my X-rays be sent to me. Gave my address and was told to expect them in mail. 2 weeks later, no xrays. Called and spoke w/ records department. She told me there was no record of the request, but she would process it. Gave her my card # (no previous mention of a charge) and 2 1/2 weeks later-no X-rays, though charge was processed. Called and spoke w/ records dept (same person) who claimed she didnt have my address so couldnt send them. At this point I need them for early Monday (its Friday.) So now I have to pick them up and Im still being charged! One would think that, for all the trouble, the fee would be waived or at least reduced since no postage is involved.
