I moved to Thailand for the TESOL-Teacher program through Greenheart Travel, and I have loved every minute. Greenhearts makes the process so easy and pain free, which is much needed when you’re trying to pack up your life and move half way around the world. They provide great information before, during, and after your time ends. They provide a community of past, current, and future participants and a place to ask questions and receive support throughout your time abroad. The money seems steep at first, but it’s worth it! Moving abroad to teach English is a commitment and not for everyone. Their partnership with the company in Asia is strong. I would 100% recommend using Greenheart Travel to anyone thinking they might want to move abroad to teach English!

I used Greenheart Travel to participate in the Teach in Colombia program in 2016 and found them to be incredibly helpful and efficient with all of the program details, visa stuff and even post-arrival contact. Sarah is FANTASTIC and really takes care of everybody. No complaints whatsoever with Greenheart!

A few years ago I was searching the internet for a way to travel to another country but stay longer than a normal vacation. After weeks of searching I found Green Heart Travels program to Colombia. I studied history and focused on Latin America so this was instantly my favorite program Id seen. After applying and going through a few interviews, I was on my way to Colombia within 6 months. For the following 6 months I not only had an amazing time with my students and teachers at my school but also traveled the entire country which included snow and glaciers, beaches, mountains, ancient ruins, urban cities, colonial towns, and lots of beautiful hikes with waterfalls and mountains everywhere. Everywhere I went the people were so friendly and I never felt unsafe at anytime. I would highly recommend taking a chance and traveling to Colombia and would definitely recommend Green Heart Travel for all of their help and organization throughout my time there and even after returning.

This organization can seem quite expensive, but compared to other companies they provide a lot. You could probably find your own accommodations and placements alone, but I was not that brave and Greenheart was a great way to help me get my foot in the door. I have been able to travel Myanmar and Thailand through them, while getting my TESOL, to now getting paid for teaching. This is a great way to travel and earn money. It is a personal challenge but they can provide all the support before you depart for your adventure and while abroad.

Love Greenheart!! I have worked for the company and traveled on their teach English in Myanmar program. I wasnt originally planning to go to Myanmar but I could not have been happier that I did. Myanmar is a truly special country that will always have a special place in my heart. Greenheart supported me throughout the beginning of the process and made me feel comfortable traveling to a country I didnt know much about. Would highly recommend any of their programs.

I’ve been an ESL educator now for over 6 years. I’ve lived in 5 different countries and have traveled the world. All of this is thanks to Greenheart Travel for helping me start my career as a teacher abroad!I signed up for a 6 month volunteer program teaching English in The Republic of Georgia. Greenheart was very commutative with my application for the program. They were very efficient and detailed orientated with helping me obtain my visa. The staff is not only very professional but friendly as well! With their support and encouragement, I decided to extend my contact abroad to 1 year!I am so glad I choose Greenheart Travel for my first living experience abroad. If it wasn’t for me taking the opportunity they offered, I would never have met my boyfriend (who I’ve now been with for 5 years) and had this amazing expat life abroad! Thank y Greenheart Travel for everything!

Greenheart travel gave me the ability to make money right after college without working a 9-5 in the city. I was able to to gain a certification and teach English in Krabi, Thailand. It was important for me to travel but also gain skills that would help me get a job in the field I chose after teaching. The course was manageable and I made some of my very best friends! I only planned on staying in Thailand for 6 months and ended up staying for over a year! After returning home, I was easy to use my experience to get a job back in the states!

I’ve been in South Korea almost 6 months now, thanks to the amazing work and patience of Kara, my recruiter. She helped me navigate the frequently unclear waters of applying for EPIK, the English Program in Korea. Greenheart has an amazing staff who were all excited to see me succeed, and who all know their stuff when it comes to various work/live abroad related topics. Hands down, I’d recommend them to anyone looking for a new adventure ☺️❤️ also, if you do your TEFL certification with International TEFL Academy, they waive your recruiting fee!

I moved to Thailand to teach English through Greenheart Travel and had an amazing time! They helped me through the entire process of moving abroad, and were able to provide me with information on what to expect while living and working in Thailand. This helped me manage my expectations and be open to all the possibilities / difficulties that are bound to happen when moving across the globe for over a year. It was a life changing experience and Im so grateful I went through a smaller organization that was able to give me personal attention throughout the process.

Each person I talked to at Greenheart seemed genuinely interested and excited for me the entire process. They stick with you the whole way through your time, and dont just drop you off in Thailand for you to fend for yourself. (I have heard horror stories about this.) Greenheart Travel takes care of so much for you and makes sure you are informed, so by the time you get to Thailand you have very little to worry about. The cultural orientation week and the TESOL course was fun and informative. I would definitely recommend.

I gained so much during my experience with the Teaching English in Homestay Program in Spain - I improved my Spanish language skills, learned about the culture and history of Spain, developed lifelong relationships with my host family, and gained a lot of confidence in myself.Living in Spain with a host family helped me learn to be more independent, flexible, and increased my passion for learning about other cultures.Staff from Greenheart Travel were very helpful during the entire process. I even got to meet one of their staff members when she was visiting Spain. I was fairly close to other people participating in the program, and we would often meet up to hang out/travel together. The application process is straightforward and there’s is always someone available to help and answer questions. I definitely recommend this program.

Greenheart put together a terrific volunteer teaching program in Italy. I got to live in an idyllic town beside an Italian lake, make lasting connections with the middle schoolers I taught, and travel all over Italy and 12 countries over Europe in 4 months. I am currently travelling through greenheart in the 3 month homestay program in France. I won’t lie, it’s a commitment you have to think through thoroughly, and if this is your first time in a foreign country then there will be a shock. Greenheart was very easy to travel through with the application process and contact with the company had fast responses. This is definitely something you have to try. If you’re thinking about it then just do it, and Greenheart is the way to go. 😊

Last summer, I traveled with Greenheart through their Homestay France program. I loved it and crossed off a bucket list item. Id wanted to live in France since I was a teenager. As I became a mid-career professional, I still yearned for this dream to come true. Im thankful that I had this teaching abroad experience and opportunity to become part of someones family, learn a culture thats different from my own and sharpen my French language skills! Greenheart provided a life-shaping opportunity and it was all masterfully coordinated!

I had a great experience with Greenheart for my TESOL program in Thailand. Greenheart is incompetent and charges a hefty fee for nothing. I’m currently teaching abroad in Costa Rica. ALIARSE, the local organization running the program, is great—but frankly I don’t know what Greenheart provides. They charged a $500 fee (not including health insurance which all volunteers had to pay for—though others were allowed much cheaper options) even though Dave’s ESL also advertises this volunteer opportunity without adding a fee. All I got from Greenheart was a t-shirt and a tote bag. The org appears to be run by recent college grads who post inaccurate descriptions of the VOLUNTEER program. They couldn’t even get the dates right, so I had to opt for a later session because I had scheduled a trip around the original dates from Greenheart. ALIARSE staff have said they repeatedly informed Greenheart of their mistaken information...bottom line, go with ALIARSE directly bc Greenheart is a useless middle man.

I am taking three to six trips with Greenheart over the next two years. I start in France, then go to Argentina, then to Italy. They have been professional and responsive, especially Megan. The terms and conditions are very reasonable and clear. Given they are a global charitable organization with limited resource and cant control the safety or other factors in the world that impact their placements, I can imagine that not all programs remain active especially where they have concerns.Robyn, maybe you could be more specific with your cancellation issue? Were you offered other locations to apply the money?

I was the first Greenheart volunteer in their Granada, Spain program and the family that was chosen for me was not at all fit to be a host for anyone. I had a terrible experience. Greenheart does not follow up with the volunteers. They blast out impersonal automated emails. I did raise my concerns after the 3 months were over and they did seem to take action for the next volunteer. Sadly, I was the unfortunate guinea pig of a poorly researched family. My coordinator was pleasant to talk to but she was on vacation and traveling for most of my program which was bad luck for me. It was definitely not worth the fees they charge for their service.

Greenheart are a fantastic company for supporting you from the moment you enrol on to one of their programmes. Upon landing in Bangkok, I was immediately put at ease when I was picked up from the airport and taken to my hotel. I then spent the next week with other new teachers having help to manage applications for teaching jobs filled in and participate in wonderful activities such as trips to temples, an Artists village, Rescue Paws dog sanctuary, beach BBQs, muai thai lessons and visiting an elephant sanctuary and a pineapple farm. I felt 100% supported by greenheart staff to get a teaching job, although flexibility on this front was required on my part as this changed once or twice before it was finalised. as well as emotionally and academically supported for the rest of my time in Thailand. They also were a massive help with all the boring stuff like VISA, documentation, getting a Thai bank account and a Thai SIM card, all of which would have been very difficult to do alone. Greenheart helped me find a job in a school and a learning centre in Ayutthaya, a beautiful historic town, the learning centre was fantastic, wonderfully organised and gave me a variety of students in terms of age and requirements. The school was less organised however, and I had some trouble here with lessons, student punctuality and discipline, however, I felt i could call upon Greenheart should I encounter any problems. I found the culture, teaching and language lessons provided by Greenheart at the beginning very helpful, as well insightful and fun! I had a wonderful placement and a perfect place to live, and still keep in touch now with some of the fellow teacher I met there. Working with Greenheart as a fantastic experience, so much so that I decided to use them again in 2018 for a home stay programme. Of course it would be nice if the programme was a little more affordable for everyone, although I did make plenty of money once I was out there. I also got discount for my next programme, which was a homestay in China.

As a first timer in SEA Greenheart helped so much in getting myself here in the first place and ensuring I had everything I needed. They put me up with another company in Vietnam. From there I wrote my TESOL with a good group of amazing people, some fresh graduates like me, some veteran teachers, all great peers. Im currently teaching in public school in Vietnam and Im so glad I took the leap to try something new.One thing that could be improved on is information they give for the document legalization pricesp that you need in order to get a work permit. While they have lots of information for Americans, as a Canadian I had to do a fair amount of my own research to get it done. Because of some mistakes on my own part and just slow application tones, my work permit ended up being processed late but this ended up being nothing more than a minor nuisance which did cost me around $150 extra (so get your documents processed in lots of time!).Other than that, for someone who doesnt know how to break in to thr world of working abroad, Id definitely recommend Greenheart Travel!
