I tried having epilepsy foundation pick a donation several years ago. Took them 3 separate attempts to pick up and I swore never again. Well, called last Friday for a pick up today, August 20th. Well what do you know, they were a no show. I guess I am the fool who thought they would actually show. No need for you to respond to this and NO I will not be rescheduling. Your organization is a disgrace. Should have read the negative reviews before I gave you a second chance.

I have Donated before using the pick up service. However the most recent months i have attempted to donate there has not been anyone picking up the Clothes. Ive attempted about 3 times always had my bags of clothing out on my front porch at 7am and no one picks up the clothes. The last attempted I called while waiting and still no one came. I really appreciated the pick up service this organization provided but it seems the driver may have other business going on. Sadly I will no longer attempt to donate to this organization. Consider looking into the Driver whoever is responsible for picking up the items.

Picked up my donation but came in an unmarked truck and didn’t leave a record/receipt like they’ve done previously. Not professional IMO (in my opinion)

If they run the charity the same way they do their pickup service for donations I would say question the donation. I called more than 3 weeks in advance to get large furniture items I wanted to donate picked up. I had several subsequent calls to confirm the date/instructions for pickup to include the day before the pickup. On every call I reconfirmed that the items would be inside the driver needed to knock on the door - every time those instructions were confirmed. On the date of pickup the driver just didnt show up nor did I receive a call stating they could not pickup. I wasted an entire day on this. When I called the response I got was we cant tell you why we didnt pickup. Would you like to reschedule? Seriously? I wasted an entire day and they had to nerve to ask if I want to reschedule. I will be sending my goods and monetary donations to other organizations. Its clear this organization doesnt care if they receive donations or not.

Amazing organization with caring and helpful staff. I was able to find an epilepsy support group in my neighborhood and get a social worker to help my family and I navigate my daughter’s epilepsy needs. I’m very grateful to them for everything!!

Donation Pick-up ReviewSo far, so very good. I have never had any problems. Donated a few times in past years - - three times this year.Scheduled the pick-ups this year online. There were a few dates I could choose. They emailed me the day before the pick-up and made the pick-ups on the scheduled dates: the first one was not until nearly 6 pm--made me a bit anxious but still was before dusk ; the last two were picked up by 2 pm.On occasion, I get an email that they will be in my area, but they do not get too pesty with the emails. I find the emails helpful.Anyway, dont be too scared off by other reviews. You might have good luck donating to them also.

Wish I could give 0 stars. The staff doesnt care. Administration is overly defensive, and mostly inaccessible. They are more concerned about their side than the campers experience. My daughter had a bully, her property stolen, a counselor call her a drama queen, and other inexcusable events occur. The admin took ZERO accountability. The principal told me it was 3 against 1 when it came to what they say happened v. what my daughter told me. He actually said no one saw her things get stolen. But ironically, he was the only person I told about the theft!!! And when I asked since when does a thief announce their theft? He had no response and told me he wasnt obligated to answer that! Be careful. You can send your kid to a regular camp to get the same (probably better) treatment.

I am truly disgusted with how I was treated. I called numerous times to make sure that they were aware that I have furniture and two people were needed. They came and picked up my bags and left my furniture. I had to remove my outside furniture and collect the furniture I was going to donate. Had to have a second person help me bring all the stuff outside and made sure it was on the front porch. Everything was clean and properly labeled for pick up. Now they tell me they can come back in three days! I am supposed to log on my furniture back inside had it sitting in my living room and then log all the stuff back outside in three days! And the big thing is, they cannot tell me why! They cannot tell me anything! You mean to tell me with cell phones you can I call the truck driver and have him swing back and pick it up? Or at the very least, informed me why? I need a phone call from somebody from this company before I take this to the news station. I am that irate! The front of my house looks like Im moving and I put up with this for a good cost and this is what I get! Who is going to come help me bring the furniture back in and out?

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Foundation. My daughter has been involved with EFGC since she was 7 (she is now almost 16), and theyve been an absolute lifeline for her. The administration is amazingly caring and compassionate, and theyve helped my daughter find her voice and advocate for herself in so many ways. Thank you, EFGC.

I cant even give this organization 1 star but thats the only way I can post this review! This is the second time the Epilepsy Foundation has failed to make a scheduled pick-up. I spoke with a representative the day before the pickup was scheduled to confirm that it was on the list and to ask that the driver be notified to ring the bell( the items were in the first floor foyer of this building) since Chicago law prohibits putting items on the curb of boulevards. The representative told me that would be fine. I also put a sign on the door for the driver to ring the 2nd floor bell for admittance. After no pickup was made, I called the organization again to find out the status and was told that the truck had been there but since there were no items on the curb the driver kept going. The representative also stated that the drivers are not allowed to ring a bell and the items must be outside -- even if its against city statutes. I know that this isnt true because I have had them pick up items in the past. If this is a new policy, then certainly their employees should know about it.I guess that they only want to pick up in suburban areas-- not in the city.Since the items were in a common area of the condominium, I now have to drag over 20 boxes and bags back up 2 flights of stares. Needless to say, Im done with Epilepsy Foundation and will also inform my friends, family and neighbors in the Hyde Park community not to support this organization.

Dont waste your time, they will never show up to your home. I scheduled with them twice and both times were no shows. Items were on the porch from 7am to 7pm Even I knew those clowns would not show up at 7am

The items were picked up as stated so I had no problem with that. I just so happened to be home at the time of the pick up and I saw the driver just throw the boxes on the truck. I hope that the contents of the boxes were not damaged and someone will be able to get use of them.

Very unreliable if you live in an apartment building in the city of Chicago. I scheduled 3 pickups, spoke to a member of their escalation team to schedule the third attempt. The member committed to call me when the driver was on the way to me and sent me an email to confirm our conversation. No call. There were special instructions for the driver to ring the bell because donations cannot be left curbside in the city of Chicago. I heard the truck pull up, ran outside yelling and waving to get the drivers attention. He just looked and pulled off. When I called the foundation back immediately, I was extended an apology, and they offered to ask the driver to come back. By that time, I was too tired from running downstairs, yelling and chasing the truck to carry 13 bags of clothes, shoes and household items. Never again! Did I mention: I took the day off work, using 8 hours of vacation to contribute to the cause. Beyond frustrating!!!! Wish I could give their pick up service no stars.

Today is Monday October 8th 2018 I would like to share my story because I am so disappointed Ive been donated this organization for many many years and the reason why Im disappointed because I had scheduled a pick up for Monday October 8th 2018 no one showed up no one called I send so many emails and nobody respond to my email I would like to know if he wants me to continue. You all need to be professional enough to return someone calls so Im going to try one more time to see if you are still interested in my donation if you are not I can find another organization that will be willing to take my donation.

I live in a condo - explained that in my comment section - they would need to call me from lobby and I would buzz them in Can not live things outside by the curb. Saw the truck driving in my parking lot and they did not even make an attempt to stop at my building. Called the office and, asked if the guy could swing back & I would wait for him. Would not accommodate me - have now called another charity for pick up - no way to run a business!

Im totally unhappy with the service, better yet, non service I received on today, August 30, 2016! I am more so very saddened that the scheduled pickup for today, was a failed attempt, because Im quite sure what I had to donate could have been of good use! Dont despair, Ive already scheduled a pick-up from another more reparable agency whos more willing to service the disabled(me), & who Im sure can truly use what I have to donate!

I never receive help at the most important times. By the time I hear from them, my needs are accommodated by real doctors. So I dont quite understand what they do to help people. And as many times Ive asked how the foundation help people, I was just told, what services were you looking for. Totally unprofessional! I believe they do not care about you, and it is all for a paycheck.

Epilepsy foundation is an important national organization fighting for services and policy that improves the lives of people with epilepsy. This is a standard non profit that has case workers to assist with career development, counseling, and emergency benefits. They helped me navigate medical bills, getting insurance, reduced date bus card, and have many youth programs and support groups.

I scheduled a pick up with them for 3/14/17, packed up approx. 10 boxes/bags of items to be donated, placed them all on my front porch by 7am this morning (despite having to shovel the snow before I placed them outside), I have the boxes all covered in plastic with a note that they are for the Epilepsy Foundation (just like they asked). I recd a call from there office at 10:17 this morning telling me the driver said nothing was on my porch. WHAT??? They called their dispatcher and told me they would send the driver back to my house to pick up the items. At 3:46 I decided to call the office back, since the driver had not come back, and they called dispatch again only to find out the driver was too far away and they would not be coming back. Best they can do is come back on 3/20/17.....told them not to bother! What a huge inconvenience to have to drag everything back into my house until I can get to the Goodwill. I will not be wasting my time with the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago anymore. Suggest you think twice.

Experiences of calling to have them pick something up as a donation shouldnt be used for rating this great organization. While EFGC is supported and works with SAVERS -- that company is a totally separate entity. Benefit by contacting SAVERS directly for problems of this type. Many Thanks for all that EFGC does!
