Ive been to quite a few neurologists and Dr. Grebenciucova is by far the best. She spent so much individual time going through all my questions and particularly took time to go over things that hadnt occurred to me that may be affecting my diagnosis. Shes truly fantastic, genuinely listens to her patients, and is always up on the latest research in her area of expertise which has been so important during Covid. If youre looking for someone who genuinely knows what shes talking about, cares about her patients, and will give you the best advice around, shes a great choice.

I read some negative reviews online but decided to visit Dr. Elena Grebenciucova anyway because I needed to see a neurologist with an MS specialty. I found her to be smart, very knowledgable and sound in her recommendations. She spoke quickly, which I am used to, but she slowed down when I asked her my questions and took time to be sure I was able to ask my questions. She also was attentive to my lab results and suggested some additional tests, which were due to her paying attention. I felt comfortable both with how she treated me and my husband, and also how she recommended I proceed, and so I wanted to provide this positive review at least from a first meeting to offer an additional perspective, in light of some of the negative reviews that didnt at all line up with my experience.//I can update this review to say that my good opinion has continued over multiple appointments and starting my MS treatment. Dr. G was able to convince my insurance company, which initially rejected my treatment, to cover it. She has also been incredibly accessible and has answered my questions in between appointments. I absolutely appreciate Dr.G and recommend her to those newly diagnosed with MS.

I think that for now, at least, Im done with neurologists because the first one went back to Bulgaria (alas!), the second one, a sweetheart and a wonderful doctor was too far away for me to schlep to (in Kankakee), and the last two were horrible. In fact, this doctor was a sheer waste of my insurance money, my time, my energy, my breath. I thought her to be conceited, arrogant, and, well, not very insightful, competent, or smart. (Is that overdoing it? Will she now demand that Google remove my review? I hope this review will stay put just as I wrote it because I think it only fair that I be given the chance to articulate in writing my disastrous experience with her.) All she did practically throughout was sit at her computer and type away, nodding from time to time as I talked. Was she really listening? Did she really care? It sure didnt seem like it, and when she did say something I dared to disagree with, or when I questioned or challenged what she was saying, she told me I could always go to Rush or to University of Chicago Hospitals, which was bizarre. Sometimes it seemed that she really didnt know what she was doing: Performing a Babinski reflex test with me wearing nylon socks? Examining my walking without my having removed my shoes? Moreover, everything was done hurriedly, without a modicum of empathy or compassion. She pressured me to get a spinal tap (which I didnt do for various reasons of my own). She seemed to disregard two MRI reports (one from her own hospital), and was totally dismissive when I told her I had been diagnosed a few years earlier in a well-respected hospital in Israel--one of the best. Though she did order numerous tests for me, that was about it. In conclusion, I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone that needs a competent diagnostician and that prefers to have a dialogue and mutual exchange with his/her doctor to avoid this one at all costs: A doctor-patient relationship should be a two-way street, not a one-way thoroughfare leading nowhere. This doctor did absolutely nothing for me. Disappointingly, shes simply not up to par in my--this patients--opinion.
