Dr. Lickerman has been my primary care physician for over 20 years. I was very excited when he started ImagineMD and followed him to this new model from his previous position. Although the level of care was always exceptional, ImagineMD allowed him to create a whole new standard that exceeds anything Id ever experienced. No more waiting room cattle calls. The service is prompt and I rarely, if ever, see another patient while I am there. A few year ago I took a fall and injured myself. I called him- on a Sunday and Valentines Day to boot- and he immediately answered the call from the restaurant he was at and triaged me over the phone. Dr. Lickerman provides a level of care and service that is simply unavailable in the market today. My first appointment with my doctor lasted two hours and 15 minutes and we are in regular communication about diet and health issues. Imagine MD charges their cost for labs. I recall my lipid profile for cholesterol was $1.73 or something, so it was a good feeling to not be overcharged. You do truly have 24/7 access to the doctors but of course, you hope to never need this but its a relief having that when emergencies arise.

Before working with Alex I was frustrated I never really felt my doctor gave me much attention. It seemed like I would get sick and it was difficult to make an appointment and when i got the doctors office I would wait forever and then end up being seen by his medical assistant. Today I feel like I have direct access to someone who has invested time to know my health concerns, who is proactive in managing my health and is accessible 24-7. I started seeing Alex Lickerman a little more than 15 years ago, when he was at the University of Chicago, where I work. I have found him very helpful many times. This is medicine as it was meant to be practiced: unhurried visits with a doctor who takes the time to get to know you, thereby gaining detailed familiarity with your symptoms and suggesting appropriate, cutting-edge treatments. You will be in very good hands with this physician!

Having had several doctors over the years, I have been often annoyed at how difficult it was to get appointments, return phone calls, and urgent care when I needed it. So when Dr. Lickerman mentioned his new practice, I was on board immediately. As an overall healthy person, one wouldnt think you would need this type of service. But when that moment comes around, and something always does happen, having easy access to an excellent physician will be priceless. In the meantime Dr. Lickerman is easy to get a hold of, easy to schedule appointments with, and very thorough. On my first appointment he spent an hour and half giving me a physical, going through my medical history and answering any and all questions I had. For that type of service I would gladly pay a fee.

Having Alex as my treating physician is simply the best experience I have ever had in medicine.

My husband had a variety of minor health problems but going to a supposedly prestigious academic medial center was making things worse. Different specialists were diagnosing him and giving treatments that conflicted with others and/or were not the most helpful. My husband is a young, active man and he was getting bogged down by specialist-itis. We started going to Alex two years ago and things have dramatically improved. The little problems my husband was plagued with were managed carefully and coordinated with the different specialists. He read every test and made sure we understood every implication. He is worth the money 10 times over because he is smart, on top of things, and has the time to care about his patients. He understands the whole patient and not only considers my husbands physical health but his mental and emotional health as well.

Dr, Lickerman is an excellent listener and has several great strengths: he is a first rate diagnostician and as a former hospitalist for the University of Chicago Hospitals is expert in liasing with other physicians to coordinate care. He is also extremely knowledgeable about drugs and their interactions and prescribes cautiously. Because his manner is brisk I was at first worried that he would be less empathic, but that isn’t the case. He cares deeply about his patients and their well being.

We had been wanting a more comprehensive family doctor for some time. Those fifteen minute rush in, get asked a few questions, given an antibiotic doctor appointments werent working for our family. We didnt know that it was possible but what we wanted we found in Imagine MD. Dr Alex Lickerman spends the time getting to know you, your history, family history and makes decisions on your healthcare in a much more holistic way, considering all of the above. You dont feel rushed, are sure you are getting the best possible direction and if it doesnt work, he is right there working on your behalf to find the solution to your health issues. Our entire family sees him and his staff and couldnt be happier with our decision to step outside of the box that wasnt working, called primary and seriously get healthcare that is prioritized.

I started seeing Dr. Lickerman after bad experiences with two other primary care physicians who seemed unable to make sense of my complex set of medical issues. The earlier PCPs also seemed to have very little time to think through the possible explanations and come to a conclusion that made sense. Dr. Lickermans approach is quite different. He is an experienced and sensitive diagnostician who takes all the time needed to investigate alternatives and discuss them thoroughly with me. The advantage to me of the concierge practice is that Dr. Lickerman is available when I need him, even on short notice, and has the time to devote to my care, even when issues are complex. WOW! I began seeing Dr. Lickerman in late Sept. Just a little background on myself. I hadnt seen a doctor in 4 to 5 years although Ive had great medical insurance throughout my professional history.Like a lot of people, I dont really put myself first, but instead put my family and others. Always putting off Drs appts., physicals and check-ups.Im 46 years old now and I have had some things in my life and health that have raised some concern with me lately. After some serious thought and a face to face meeting with Dr. Lickerman. I gave this new concept of of concierge medicine and services they are offering at Imagine MD a try.In such a short time I have been given not just good and extremely professional and sound medical advice and care but the most outstanding attention to all my medical questions and needs with a diligence and professionalism to customer or (patient) service unparalleled.In my life I have been discouraged by the medical profession because of the cattle call atmosphere and the waiting in crowded doctors offices with really sick individuals for hours waiting and wondering if Ill get what they have while waiting for sub-standard service.Or my most recent experience at an Urgent Care. I am a relatively healthy adult, but even in my limited contacts with the healthcare industry, Ive been frustrated at the way I get care. Insurance is confusing. Its hard to know which doctor I should go to. The appointment waitlist is 1 to 2 weeks. When I show up, I have to wait, then I get a small 10 minutes window to talk to the doctor.When I learned about ImagineMD and their direct primary care model, I was intrigued. I like the idea of having ready access to my doctor, and I especially like the idea that my visits can be long and unhurried. I signed up.So far, everything has worked out great. Excellent doctor availability, quality advice, and the freedom to ask more questions anytime I want. Their west loop office near Ogilvie Station was convenient. My first patient visit there was two full hours, and my doctor, Alex Lickerman, went over every single thing I could think of. When we ran out of time on the first appointment, a follow-up appointment was set up a few days later for another full hour. In both meetings, there was not a sense of rush. Topics on my various personal health aspects flowed freely. There was full explanation on every piece of diagnosis and advice given.In between my visits, I also made calls to Dr. Lickerman on an array of issues, all of them minor enough that I would have never bothered to setup an office visit in the past (I wouldnt have visited a doctor for a headache. By the time of the appointment, it will be long done). In every case, Dr. Lickerman either picked up immediately, or I got a callback quickly. Even on the phone calls, all issues were discussed in depth and with full explanations.One thing I appreciate about my doctor is that he is an active thinker. He writes books, articles, and blog posts on personal health, and from our discussion, I know that he keeps track of latest health updates. This is a crucial consideration for me. Health sciences advance on a regularly basis. I want someone who is on top of the latest discovery and can help integrate them into my own health habits in the long-term.On a non-medical note, I found it very helpful talking to their office about ways to pay for the membership with tax planning. They suggested a few ways that the cost can be lowered, and in my case, the actual cost was less than $100/mo with the use of pre-tax dollars.
