Im writing to warn anyone with a disabled loved one thinking of using the AIMMC Dentistry Clinic for Patients with Special Needs to steer clear and find dental services elsewhere.I brought my disabled son to this clinic for 15 years for general dentistry. Three years ago he moved into a 24/7 care setting. This last year I became concerned the dental care he was getting in his new location was substandard. I decided to take him back to the clinic at Illinois Masonic to get the opinion of the dentist who saw him for 15 years, Jennifer Ferrell, DDS. I made an appointment for about three and a half weeks from my call. I was told, because my son had not been seen there for over a year, his records had been transferred to remote storage for inactive cases, and they would have to requisition the records be sent back for the appointment. In the few weeks that elapsed there was plenty of time to send me forms to fill out if they needed to open a new file on him. This was not done. On the day of the appointment, we could have come in an hour or even more early to complete any necessary paperwork. I was not asked to do this, therefore we arrived at the appointment only about 20 minutes early. At this time, I was handed a clipboard with about 30 pages of forms to fill out completely before he could be seen. It turns out, the records they requisitioned had not been sent, despite over three weeks to get there. There was no way I could get the necessary paperwork completed in the time allotted. Their position was because they hadnt received his records, a new chart had to be started on him, and there wouldnt be a new chart unless every last page of the stack of papers given me to fill out were completed in full. I attempted to negotiate some compromise but Dr. Ferrell and the unprofessional staff were absolutely intractable in their absurd insistence every last page of forms were completed before Dr. Ferrell would look at my son--even though she had seen him many times over 15 years and remembered him well.I had gone to a great deal of trouble to bring my son to the clinic, which is about 40 miles from where he now lives. This was 100% the clinics fault and major screw-up, yet neither the dentist or the unprofessional staff person at the front desk even offered an apology. They acted like I had screwed up, and were outright abusive. I was so furious, Icursed at them, then left. These nasty creeps, called hospital security on me and two security officers arrived as I was securing my son in his wheelchair in our van. They had no legal right to prevent my leaving, but these obnoxious men stood in front of my van and obstructed me from moving my van forward. There was absolutely no need for them to be there; they stayed and blocked my car for one reason only: to be abusive. When they saw they couldnt intimidate me, they yelled rudely at me, telling me I was banned from ever returning! I wouldnt go there again if I was dead! And if all this isnt bad enough, this weekend, we received a bill from AIMMC for my sons missed appointment at the clinic. These people are the pits. I have never seen such incompetency and outright bad service from any medical provider in my entire life. I give them an F for everything!Good people, stay away from this dump so they will go out of business, which is what they should be.
