I was super stoked to try the climbing wall here, and while it was fun, I felt like there was a lot of unrealized potential for climbers. Went on a weeknight in June. Only about half the wall was set, and only about 5 top ropes were actually up. I hear the day pass price has gone up from $7 to $15 but you get less for it - bouldering, auto belays, and top rope/lead are all separate fees, but they used to be all under the single fee. Also, auto belays are $25 for only half an hour, which is just ridiculous to me, especially when there aren’t many top ropes set up (maybe they put up more on the weekends…?) However, even with the limited climbing options, I’d climb here all the time if they had a seasonal membership - I’m sure that would attract a lot of climbers in the area! It has the potential to be a really awesome climbing spot - very unique! It’s so convenient to where I live, and fun to get out of the gym. Staff is very nice, though they also seem dissatisfied with the way the wall is run. If it was run more like a climbing gym it’d be way more accessible and fun to climb at for both first-timers and regular climbers! Please bring back seasonal memberships!!!

What a pearl of a spot to have the option to climb dividers squarely in the core of the city. Exceptionally decent staff and comprehensible. We go week by week when the climate is pleasant.

What a gem of a place to be able to climb walls right in the heart of the city. Very nice staff and knowable. We go weekly when the weather is nice.

So amazing having outdoor climbing right on Chicago. For years Ive tried to spend an afternoon here when visiting and finally did and boy it didnt disappoint. There is just so much climbing to be had here, bouldering, top rope, and lead. I wish they had a better crash pad setup but its realistic to outside.Cant wait to get back here and try more.

Please let us use our own helmets! My wife and I flew from the Seattle area to visit Chicago, read everything about the climbing wall INCLUDING where it says we can use our own gear only to show up and be told we must use the helmets that they provide. My personal helmet was the same model even only newer and with less use (aka, safer). Most climbing gyms dont even require helmets when top rope climbing but you could at least allow us to be comfortableThe wall itself was good, staff know what they are doing when it comes to climbing

Pros: Friendly staff. Cool outdoor climbing space. Grippy holds. Lots of auto delay stations.Cons: Limited number of routes. Soft ratings. Climbers are restricted to 30 min of timed climbing with a $25 day pass.

Rock climbing and repelling available. Two different sized walls each with different climbing levels. Great for kids and adults. If you have your own gear and helmet, bring it and you won’t have to rent it. Also, they sell so many items that you may need at the park building where you rent the equipment. Don’t miss the other activists at this park as well.

Great staff, tons of routes. The view from the top is really great, and they certify you to top rope. Only downside is I’d say most of the routes are a bit tougher than First Ascent grading.

Huge outdoor wall gas tons of potential but it falls flat because the route setting is sub-par and the majority of employees are not climbers.Otherwise it is a great idea. I wish they would get better route setters like the guys at First Ascent. Also, I have never been there when all of the walls have been opened. They usually close large parts of it. Possibly due to lack of employees. It is still fun and a great place for first timers. Hopefully it will rude to its full potential some day.

Skating at the ribbon is a great distraction from Chicago’s awful winters. The view is fantastic. If you have skates, bring them. The line for the rental is well over 30 minutes during busy times.

Incredible potential! But almost all the bouldering routes where average at best, the rating system is just inaccurate. All the routes are bland with no personality.Final complaint is we found at least 3 loose holds which can easily lead to an accident

Chicago is also this ... in the Millennium park this center is located for young people who love outdoor sports .... they rent skates, scooters and climbing equipment divided by difficulty levels. Pleasant pastime for families ...
