Smart K9s dog training service is a lifesaver! Our large puppy German shepherd was uncontrollable on a leash, would only listen to us if he was bribed with a treat, and lacked confidence. Smart K9 changed all of this. I am beyond grateful for their work and would not hesitate to go back. Thank you for your help!

Monika transformed my 2 year old German Shepherd buddy with her two week training course. Honestly cant believe how well hes responding and listening to commands. Asking Monika for help was the best decision Ive ever made. Highly recommend - it was worth every penny

Monika is a well experienced dog trainer, she has trained our Cane Corso 1 year old. Stella was at board and train with Monika for 2 weeks and Monika completely transformed her. We can now actually walk her and she listens to us.

Cant say enough great things about our experience (and on going experience) with Smart K9! Monica truly goes above and beyond but more importantly really loves what she does. Shes informative, patient, answers questions and wants to see you and your dog succeed. We first contacted Smart K9 because we realized that our 4.5 month old Rottweiler had become a little too motivated by treats when it came to her doing something. We had been taking her to puppy training classes but about a month in, we realized that she was being disobedient whenever there were no treats in hand or she didnt benefit in someway. Granted sometimes she was just being a puppy but we also felt that we needed to establish a solid foundation of obedience and respect. Especially given the fact that were talking about a Rottweiler here not a little Chihuahua! So, we contacted Monica and after discussing everything and an assessment, we decided to proceed forward with her Lifetime Training. Granted, it seemed like a lot of money at first but after seeing the results and all the benefits you gain, we hands down made a solid investment and then some! The course is a two week intensive broken into two segments. The first week, Xuxa (our baby) boarded with Monica as she was being taught everything. The following was for my wife and I to come in and work with Xuxa as Monica explained to us the things that are necessary to reinforce everything that our dog had been taught. This second week is arguably the most important because even through Monica can hand you a completely obedient dog, you can mess everything up if you dont work with your dog and build a solid foundation of trust and respect upon leaving the program. If you just go home afterwards and dont use the tools that youve been given, you are setting yourself and your dog up for failure (and no one will be to blame but yourself). She really helped open our eyes to the fact that its a two way street and as owners we have to do our part as the Alpha in our relationship and that means putting in the time and work.In addition to the two-week intensive, you have access to weekly classes as part of your package. These classes are great for building that relationship with your dog, reinforcing commands and seeing what other trained dogs in class are capable of. Ultimately it serves to motivate you as the owner and gives you something to aspire towards as you begin your journey with your dog. And as if thats not enough, Monica will also work with you privately to troubleshoot any problems that may come up in the future (as long as youre doing your part to continue the training). It really lives up to its name as Lifetime Training and Monica does a great job of showing you that she wants you to succeed. However, let me be clear that the methods used are not treat driven. Its not positive reinforcement where you are only rewarding good behavior. The difference here is that while good behavior is rewarded (not always necessarily with a treat), the dog learns that there are also consequences for being disobedient and not listening to the leader. Even my wife who was apprehensive about the methods at first is now a believer and couldnt be happier with the results. If youre reading this review, I hope you dont scoff at the idea of using some of these oldschool methods. I hope youre not narrow minded enough to just compartmentalize these methods as animal abuse because nothing is further from the truth. Its all about communicating effectively with your dog and there are different methods of doing that. What I can say with certainty is that we are well on our way to building an unbreakable bond with our little lady. Shes going to have a big, happy life as a Smart K9!
