I’ve been seeing Meghan for color and cut for years now, and I’ve always had an excellent experience with her! I’ve gotten blowouts from quite a few of their stylists and always had a good experience as well.When I brought my best friend to get her hair bleached and cut by Meghan, Meghan was very honest and explained that she’s not comfortable bleaching her hair due to past bleaching and dyeing, and the possible damage that might happen from more bleaching. I know plenty of stylists who have no problem risking frying a clients hair for money, so I really appreciate stylists like Meghan who put their clients first. I highly recommend her along with the salon itself, the salon is very clean, the staff are friendly, and I appreciate how diligent they were with COVID safety protocol.

Went there for the first time, Scarlet gave me a cut and color. I love it! She was wonderful, professional, and knowledgeable. I was made to feel at ease right away.The decorations there are awesome and really tell you what the vibe is.Not that this really bothers me, but I also appreciated that they didnt try to upsell me on products.Ill be back!

My favorite spot in Chicago for killer haircuts and fantastic color (especially if you like more adventurous colors). The staff are all knowledgeable, friendly, and fun to talk to, and have been willing to take the lead when i dont have a clear picture exactly what I want. Always a great experience.

MJ cut my hair and my 5yo, let me just say she EXECUTED flawlessly. Her craftsmanship in hair cutting is unmatched. She was sure of every snip her scissors did, I enjoyed the experience of seeing her at work! Also considering I had both my toddlers with me, she also did it in great time. So I appreciate it. She legit reminded me of Edward Scissorhands in the yard scene cutting hair away. Lol. Thank you, OS VERY MUCH MJ!!!

Scarlett did an awesome job with my hair! My hair was so long and had no shape to it plus I wanted to add bangs. Honestly, Ive received so many compliments since getting my hair cut. Ive posted 2 before and 2 after pics so everyone can see the fabulous job Scarlett did. Oh... and I can still wear my hair up too. I am so love with this style! I cant get over it!! For the record, it works really well for my naturally curly hair. I simply shampoo and put in some curl definer cream and air dry. Thats it ladies!

Wonderfully welcoming and eclectic atmosphere, reasonably priced services, and great stylists. If you have a punk streak in you, this is the place for you regardless of if you have to stick to a more traditional style or not.

Malory/ Melanie was super weird in her behavior though I was really nice to her and explained her what I wanted- she was super rude and did not know her stuff at all. Seemed like she was in a bad mood and was unhappy to see a customer when she did not want to work or whatever. Did not perform a good hair coloring service. Also, if you are providing a hair service you need to have good hair while her hair was so badly messed up- color health cut and look per say, I did not felt comfortable at all with her mood and behavior.

Best salon ever. Sarah has been doing my hair for years now, and shes basically a magician. The girls here are all wonderful and the vibe is always amazing, even when its totally packed.Parking can be a challenge, so give yourself extra time to drive around. If you get there early, just have some coffee (or beer or wine!) while you wait.

I went for the first time on Wednesday and Jess was so nice and I absolutely love how my hair ended up 👍 I will definitely be going back. She listened to what I wanted and left my hair feeling so soft and light.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share with you my experience at Twisted Scissors today! Absolutely loved it! This is a very trendy salon that has stylists that can create whatever you are looking for in a new hairstyle. They take the time to get to know you and listen to your ideas or even look at a picture you may bring in. And then sit back because these girls can create works of Art with your hair. I had Tiffany who was absolutely so knowledgeable in hair, she was born for this!! Loved what she did with my new style I had long straight as a door hair and she made me feel and look 20 years younger ❣ Heather did my sons hair, and he has un controllable curly hair! he hates it because it never does what he wants it to. She took the time to educate him in what he was doing wrong right down to telling him how to wash and then the proper way to dry it...who knew hes been doing it wrong..lol She then took the time to listen to what he wanted to do and between the two of them she created a masterpiece and my son is thrilled. All of the staff is so professional and friendly it was truly a great atmosphere and we are going back and will see everyone in 6 weeks. Scarlett has gone above and beyond to make my hair dreams come true every single time I’ve come into twisted scissors. She not only always does a fantastic job and has me walking out looking radiant as ever, but she is so thoughtful and sweet! I always look forward to our appointments at this beautiful, trendy salon.

I got my curls trimmed by Heather Martini. She is GREAT! Im trying to work with my natural curls after a long time of flat ironing and she took her time to give me excellent advice on how to take care of my hair and advice on what products I should use. She knows curly hair and she is super nice. On a covid note, I felt super safe at the salon. There was plenty of social distancing and everyone had a mask on. I loved all the art in the salon :)

I have been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. Everyone is so nice, customer service is amazing and all the stylists are great. I have been seeing Meghan for the last 2+ years and she is AMAZING! Cannot say enough good things about this place and the folks who own it and the folks who work there. They are environmentally friendly too!

If you have thicker *ethnic looking* hair they will complain the entire time doing it. I normally go with Selena who is the best colorist there in my opinion. But she wasnt available and I got paired with someone else. I thought it wouldnt be an issue because with such a nice place all their stylist should be able to work with different hair types. No... Not what happened at all. I am not new there, they know my coloring is a half day commitment. So why did I get constant comments about my hair and hear how difficult it is to work with, and how my stylist ended up needing help to do something Selena can do all by herself. It made me feel embarrassed about my hair and I honestly felt bad. I really do love this place but I shouldnt walk out feeling ashamed about my hair and with a patchy color job that later had to be *refreshed* by none other than Selena. I will be sticking with her for all my future coloring/styling/etc. But I really shouldnt have to just because some of your stylists lack of diversity.

My first time here and I felt so safe with the COVID precautions and safety measures taken by Twisted Scissors. When you walk in temperature is taken and documented. Extra hand sanitizer and masks too if needed. The salon stations were spread apart more than 6ft. The stylists are so conscious of distancing even when it came to the shampoo process. The salon is so fun filled with great people. Selena was my stylist, I got a haircut with bangs and I love it!!! Selena did an amazing job! Selena was so nice, we had great conversation that didn’t feel forced. I’ll definitely be back. Thank you Twisted Scissors for providing a safe space.

Just got back from my first appointment here with Monica! I had not had anything done to my hair since January and my highlights were growing out like crazy. Wanted to try a place nearby and will for sure be going back.Monica was great, very attentive and asked lots of questions about what I was looking for. I got a full set of highlights (mine were REALLY grown out) and she was able to blend it beautifully. I also told her about how during April I somehow had the great 3 am idea to cut bangs that Im now growing out. She didnt judge me or give me any looks for my bad call, and actually took a lot of care to make sure to blend the face framing areas of my hair to blend the grown out bangs better for now and as they continue to grow out. Loved my experience here and cant wait to come back! 🖤🖤🖤

Friendly staff and cool feminism vibes. However, as a guy who just likes a fade and trim in the top, the last two cuts were comically bad, one of which was so lopsided I needed to go to another place the next morning to fix it up before a work presentation. Still don’t know how they let me leave like that.If you’re looking for a fade, I’d recommend going elsewhere for much cheaper.

Ive been going to Monica since Dakota left (she did a great job and was very friendly). Monica is great with color, and Ive gotten many compliments on that. This place is not your typical girlie salon. Its alternative and every stylist has bold colored and cut hair, and usually tattoos. Since Im not the girlie or fussy type, I like the atmosphere. Its relaxing and cool. Ive been coming here for years and made some mistakes in color choice, for which I wish the stylist ran interference. I also wasnt thrilled with my early haircuts either, but I was sort of clueless. But its worked out since then. Id come here often if I could afford it (I get all-over color, highlights, and cut, which adds up). There is no other salon like this one.

I had a haircut appointment with Selena ( my first time ) and she did a get job ! I hadnt had my hair cut for a little over a year due to covid & despite my tangled long hair Selena did a an awesome job cutting and styling my hair. She even fixed my bangs that I cut bymyself. I would definitely would come back. The staff was very attentive and practised safety protocols for covid.

Followed the owners here from Big Hair and will be coming here as long as theyre around. The quality for the price is unbeatable, plus coffee, PBR or wine if you fancy. If youre not down with an alternative vibe, this isnt the place for you but otherwise I dont know why youd go anywhere else.

I see all these great reviews towards this salon, but all I got was horrible service from the receptionist. I made an appointment 3 weeks ago for an overall coloring. It was confirmed again on Monday (a few days ago), and a confirmation was even sent to me for July 3 at 3:15. I call to let them know I was running a few minutes behind ONLY to find out that my appointment had been completely moved to another month WITHOUT my consent or knowledge. I wish I would have been notified that my appointment has been changed instead of calling Monday two days before the originally scheduled appointment to hear that Im still scheduled for the 3rd. I was then told that I was the one who made the mistake and or possibly changed the date of the appointment.. No. I changed nothing. I planned for this again, three weeks ago for a reason. All in all, Im just upset that if youre going to schedule me and appointment three weeks out, just to change the date, ask me first? Let me know that you changed it before I pay to go clear across town for no reason.

She is excellent, professional, detail oriented and just a pleasure to be around. I sit down feeling like a beast and get up a fairy princess. Seriously though I have super thick long curly hair. Not easy to cut and not easy to color. She takes the time to supersaturated each strand so that the color is rich and lasts forever. She also cuts my hair to match its needs. Other curly haired girls know what I mean by that. She has the knowledge and experience to individualize her approach for the client. I love her so much and the work she does. Go to Cristina. You will be so happy.

I got my hair done by Monica yesterday and she did an amazing job! The shop is super cute as well. She listened to exactly what I wanted and my hair came out great! I will definitely come back. Cant say enough great things, all the girls here were really friendly.

Haley has been doing my hair for years, and shes fantastic! Shes taken my curls from long to short, to mid-length, back to short again, and each cut has been gorgeous. She easily replicates inspiration photos, and is also skilled at taking my ideas and creating a unique, flattering style. I love Haley and wont let anyone else touch my hair.The salon is impeccably clean, the front staff attentive, with a very welcoming atmosphere. They always offer water, tea, or coffee (hot chocolate in winter!), and I believe they also have wine and beer. The space is bright, open, and airy, with cool artwork on the walls, even in the bathroom.

This was my 2nd time getting a haircut, and each time was an amazing experience! Had an appointment with Rosy for a Hair trim and lining this time. She was super attentive with my request, talkative and made those memorable connections throughout! Her wash and dry, made me feel so pampered! Cant wait to go back for a clean up. Have to say, their Logan Square location has become my spot!

I have been coming to Twisted Scissors for a few years. Everyone is so nice and professional. Given the new COVID restrictions I felt very safe and that they were maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Not worth the price. I wanted more highlights done to my hair but for nearly $200 for Brown highlights on my bangs is not worth it. But the staff is friendly...

Ive searched for the perfect white blond forever, and not only did Heather do a gorgeous color correction on me, she continues to out-do herself when it comes to the bright color I want. Scarlett was incredibly nice and great to talk to, and really took the time to understand what I wanted and that I was walking out of the salon with exactly that. Between the wine, cut, and super accepting atmosphere, I am genuinely surprised that this place doesnt cost an arm to go to. I made an appointment based of friend recommendations, but I will definitely be scheduling in the future for the merits of the salon alone.

Ive been going to Twisted for 7 years now for my cut/highlights needs. I love my stylist, Mallorie, and the rest of the staff are lovely too. Ambiance is great, prices are reasonable for the city, and you even get free beer or tea while you wait.

Very appreciative of the salon taking COVID-19 precautions seriously. Temp checks and hand sanitizers as you enter. Your stylist texts you when they are ready for you so no waiting around in reception. Well spaced out work stations and there were only 2 other clients in there while I was there. I went here to get a haircut a while back... I thought the place looked nice but the lady that greeted me wasnt... She was a bit rude, I told her this was my first time here... She didnt look like she wanted to talk to me cause she walked away right away... Which was too bad because I kinda wanted 2know about this place since this was my 1st time here... Cool whatever... Got my haircut and the hair stylist chick seemed cool... Then she told me this place came from New York which was a first sign it was pricey... Oh oh, shouldve done my homework first... Normally I dont pay $40 for a haircut, Im a guy who just wants a nice looking clean cut at an affordable price... But I dont recommend this spot to my male friends, unless they wanna spend $30-$40 every few months... Which most wont

I have not had much luck finding a hair stylist I like in the 10 years Ive been in Chicago, but I think Ive found my match. Haley was awesome. I showed her some pictures of what I liked in hair color and cut, told her how I typically wear my hair daily and that I was in need of a change. I am so impressed and havent even been home for 3 hours and have had great compliments from close friends and family. Experiences can vary by the stylist, but all three of the people Ive seen have been great. Mallory is who I go back to again and again. Shes great with a cut and wonderful with color. Overall a great, fun place with a lot of personality.

Best haircut I have ever gotten! My stylist understood what I was looking for, my style and how I treat my hair, and exactly how my hair moves and waves. I even came in with a bad hair cut that I had given myself and she was able to fix it and give me something really great. I 100% recommend and will be going back.

My dearest best sister friend of many years worked here till she up and moved to Paris to have her family life there. Thankfully I’m still in GREAT hands with everyone and feel at home with Bethany.I’ve had amazing vibrant color (Read: Full Mermaid) on my waist length hair that was meticulous kept for a couple years and through the pregnancy of my 2nd child. Now, because life is life and I don’t have time for those hours in the chair for color, Bethany and I are teamed up to give me fun and dramatic cuts. It’s perfect.So thankful for this great space and ALL the amazing women who are dedicated to your hair happiness.

I would say that the overall feel of the place is good and accommodating. But some of the hairstylist DO NOT listen to what you want. There isn’t enough consistency of good hair stylists there. The only one that gave me what I had asked for was Monica. You’re awesome. The last person to cut my hair was nice and friendly but didn’t listen to what I said at all. I said NO layers and didn’t realize until I had left that my hair was uneven and had layers. I wear glasses and can’t really see what’s happening during the process. I should have sat and REALLY looked at my hair before I left. I was trying to be nice but I was so upset she had thinned out my hair. It took me over a year to grow out my layers. I think she was in a rush because she told me I was her last customer. The place was nice of enough to set up an appointment to fix it for free but you can’t undo layers and I didn’t want to take time out of my day to have to go back for a mistake someone had done. I’ve been there about 4 times and only once liked my haircut. Also the lady in the front told me she didn’t see anything wrong with my hair. She didn’t offer to refund it at all. I am so unhappy with my hair.

This place is so much fun and they do great work. I have been seeing Spooky for many years and I wont go anywhere else for a cut. I am in my fifties, and everyplace else I have been they want to make me look like...well, Im in my fifties. Spooky will do my hair conservative when I need it, but she also sees my inner punk rocker. While she is doing my cut and color, I love to watch the other stylists transform the woman or man they are working on. I have never seen a bad style go out of the place.
