I wanted to wait almost 8 weeks before I wrote a review. I think that there are two crucial elements to a great haircut/color: 1) loving the haircut and color at the salon and 2) loving how it grows out/how the color fades. Let me tell you.....this salon has beyond exceeded my expectations. I LOVE THIS PLACE and it will become my permanent salon in the city.(Pictured) My hair was extremely long, damaged from old balayage, split ends, and my hair was thinning. Annie COMPLETELY saved my hair. I wanted to go dark (also pictured) without looking ridiculous, and she was so comforting and professional as she brought my hair back to life. Everyone was so kind and so nice, which made me happy the day of my appointment.Today, my hair has nicely grown and the color has faded slightly into almost my natural color. Annie gave me tips and product recommendations that helped keep my hair looking just as good as it did when I left. I cant wait for my appointment coming up and 100% recommend you choose to get your services done here!

Valerie is the absolute BEST! She does the most amazing color. She is so meticulous and talented. I’ve gotten blonde highlights from several of the best places in Chicago, and she does by far the best job of any place I’ve been. You will definitely be happy if you see Valerie.

I never have to think twice to bring my daughter in for a haircut at SalonDJ. I am so appreciative of the care that they have taken to make our visit safe and comfortable. SalonDJ have taken all the preventive measures to keep everyone safe during this pandemic. This place is not just for me but for all ages. I’ve been seeing Nikki Troester for years and she never ceases to amaze me with her ability to turn my vision into reality. Whether I want to go blonde or back to my natural(ish) brunette, my hair always looks healthy and feels great. She’s been with me through my attempts to grow out my hair only for me to get frustrated and ask her to chop it into a bob only she can perfect. I cannot stress how much of a perfectionist Nikki is when it comes to color, cut and styling. Nikki has experience working at NY Fashion Week, creating looks for the whole bridal party, and my favorite, styling my hair for Pirates Ball. Not only is Nikki one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, she’s the consummate professional and truly puts her clients first. I recommend Nikki for a wide variety of services - we have pretty much done everything to my hair except add extensions and I always get compliments!

Cannot say enough good things about Salon DJ - the environment, the people, the services. I see Karah for cut/color and am impressed every time I leave the salon. My hair was in rough shape when I first started seeing her (had every kind of extensions in the book) and shes completely transformed my natural hair. I was never educated on home care for my hair until I started seeing Karah.

I can’t say enough good things about this salon. Valerie has done my hair for years and I love her. She always knows exactly what will look best with cut and color. And the salons has done a great job with making the space safe for 2020. They have plastic barriers between seats, everyone wears masks, they clean the shampoo chairs between customers and so on. It’s just a beautiful space and i can’t recommend Valerie enough.

Karah took me to my best blonde yet!!!! She took her time to walk through products and what exactly I wanted done with my hair. Highly recommend SalonDJ, great atmosphere too!

Paige did an incredible job with my hair! She took the time to listen to what I wanted (and what I didnt) and also made really good suggestions based on what I was looking for. She explained everything she was doing and why she was doing it. My hair looked great after she was done!!The salon itself is in right in the heart of West Loop and the space is HUGE! Very clean and they do a wonderful job with adhering to the covid guidelines.

I have searched high and low to find a good blonde specialist in the WL and thank god I have found Matty. My hair is finally back to the beautiful blonde it was before Covid hit. He really listens to what you’d want and does a phenomenal job! Bonus points for being secretly obsessed with Olaplex magic✨

I cant say enough about the amazing group of stylists at Salon DJ. They are not only all super talented but also genuinely caring individuals. The salon has such a great vibe and the space itself is a fun and comfortable spot to pass the time. I also have to rave about my own stylist, Paige. She REALLY listens and wants you to be happy and feel beautiful. I came to her with overly processed hair that needed some R&R. In less than a years time, she has helped to make my hair healthier than it has been in years while also keeping a gorgeous color. Her attention to detail and amazing personality makes her such a gem. Cant recommend enough!

Karah is always PERFECT! she has done my hair several times now and each time has always been exactly what i was picturing it. she is very knowledgeable and knows the exact formula for any color or style. Always creates a great and fun experience. She also does a fantastic job with my boyfriends hair. he has been to many salons in the city, and they dont even compare to how she does his hair. i wish she could style it for him every day! The salon itself is spotless and the staff makes me feel like a celeb. Karah is AMAZING!! I have very thick hair and stylists have always struggled with getting my hair to not only look good, but grow out nicely. Shes very efficient and can answer any question you have. She also does my color and I love it. I never really colored my hair before because I never wanted everything drastic, but she knows how to richen me up and find my color. When I say you can’t see it grow out I’m not lying. GO. SEE. KARAH!!!

I love Salon DJ! I have my color done by Nicole and cut by Valerie and they both do a great job. They’ve made my hair look beautiful and feel so much healthier than when I started going! Nicole S. has been my colorist for several years. She is THE BEST - very professional and a true perfectionist. I trust her completely (she always has excellent suggestions) and I always enjoy my time with her at the salon. Im so glad I found her and will never see anybody else. Youd be in excellent hands with Nicole. And the salon is very nice and modern -- the whole team is fantastic -- and they even offer an assortment of beverages (including wine), which is a really nice added touch! I highly recommend Nicole and SalonDJ!

Love, love this salon. With a big event this weekend they managed to squeeze in my last minute make up appointment and everything turned out beautifully! Daniel is a total perfectionist and his salon aides are super knowledgeable and sweet. Liz, the make up artist, is incredible and always knows the right style to match your tastes/outfit. You’ll never leave disappointed.

I would give them 5 stars except that on my very first visit my color was no where near what I wanted. I decided to go back to someone else. Annie was amazing and agreed to fix it for me but disappointed that I had to pay for a full process again after having a bad experience. Many other salons wouldve done the fix for free or a discount. But I was happy with my results in the end so they still get 4 stars.

Such a great experience! I came in not knowing what I wanted to do with my hair color. I just wanted to be more confident and have my hair look and feel healthier. Nikki was awesome. She took control right away after asking just a few simple questions. She was great from start to finish. My color turned out amazing and I cant stop looking at my hair. I left with a huge smile and I am already planning for my next appointment. :) I also had my eyebrows done by Liz and she was friendly and the process was painless. The shaping was on trend too. Overall a warm and welcoming experience!

I had such a great experience with Matt at SalonDJ! Being new to coloring my hair, he made me feel comfortable and confident by asking all the right questions and getting to the root of what I envisioned for my hair. They took all the extra precautions to make you feel safe from any disease spread - everyone wore masks, chairs/counters/washing bowls were thoroughly cleaned, and there was hand sanitizer available at every station. Every staff member I encountered was so friendly - you could tell that all the stylists were good friends. Such a great environment!

I absolutely love coming here. I found Valerie and I absolutely love her for so many reasons. As a natural brunette, I was always afraid to go blonde. Until I met this wonderful lady. She made me platinum blonde and I fell in love with it.After the blonde, I added extensions. She made them look so natural in my hair. People couldnt even tell it was fake. They all thought my hair just grew super fast.She puts so much time in your hair to make it perfect. Ive always been super satisfied by her work.After today, I added some color (silvery blue) and again... I am in love. She continues to impress me and make me feel like a queen. I am a 28 year old female who recently moved to Chicago and was looking for a new hair salon and stylist. I chose Salon DJ and am glad I did. The atmosphere at Salon DJ is very chic, warm, and welcoming. Everyone was so nice and attentive. The staff worked well together and were enthusiastic. Karah and Nicole were great to work with. They listened to what I was looking for, took their time, and worked well together. I will definitely be going back and consider trying some of the other services they offer as well.

Wheelchair accessible with automatic door at building entrance. Elevator up to the second floor space and plenty of open space to navigate wheelchair. The wash basins/sinks did not have removable chairs so it is difficult to wash hair without transferring out of wheelchair. Staff was very nice and accommodating.

Simone and Nikki got me like 😍😍😍 these girls were so accommodating, professional and kind. They made my moms and mines experience top notch. I wish I lived in Chicago so they could take care of all of my make-up and hair needs. This salon is lucky to have them!

I love this place! The people, and the atmosphere cant be beat! I always look forward to getting my hair done, but unfortunately used to struggle to get the results I wanted, but not anymore! My stylist Nikki has transformed my hair, it is healthy and always turns out exactly how I wanted! I dont know what kind of miracle work she does, but I wont go anywhere else! I cant say enough good things about Nikki, she is extremely talented, patient with my crazy requests, and always has the best advice to give. Daniel is a one of a kind stylist! When he has a vision of what your hair should look like he stops at nothing to make it happen.After a cut, color and style i thought my hair looked great! Daniel had a somewhat perplexed look on his face. When i asked why the look he responded that my hair wasnt quite finished. He wanted to make sure my bangs fell just right. Something I didnt really notice. Long story short he ended up trimming my bangs, adding more volume and restyling. My bangs after looked AMAZING. I truly didnt even know my hair had the potential to look the way it did.When you find a salon that pays attention to the little things (they offered me tea, water, coffee or wine right when i walked in!!!) treats you like a princess, has amazing products and stylist that care more about you than your money.....you dont walk away. If i could recommend this place to everyone in the world i would!Believe me, give it a shot!

Ive been going to SalonDJ for several years to get my hair cut and colored (highlights or balayage) with Nikki Troester. She is so well trained at her craft and is really an artist. Before I moved to Chicago, I had had my hair cut and colored by the same stylist for about 8 years and was very reluctant to try someone new. Nikki built my trust over time, to the point that I felt 100% comfortable just telling her the vibe I was looking for (e.g., summery, lighter or, when I was starting job interviews, professional, lower maintenance) and trusted that she would translate this vision into something that was flattering to my skin tone, face shape, and hair texture. Our most recent project was to go almost fully blonde (my natural hair color is black). Wed discussed doing this for over a year before finally taking the plunge. She set expectations appropriately (it would take several visits, at a higher frequency than usual in order to transition my hair color in a way that was SAFE for my hair.) I sadly am leaving Chicago permanently for a new job, but she even had a suggestion for a stylist in my new city and texted that stylist to fill her in on the specific dyes shed been using, our blonde-ification project, etc. She totally didnt have to go to that length, but did because 1) she is a really warm, wonderful person AND 2) she is a true artist who wants to make sure the hair shes spent years working on (mine) continues to look its best. Cannot recommend Nikki highly enough!

1st time at Salon DJ, but following my hair stylist Andrea. The atmosphere was great and all the staff was amazing. If your looking for a professional, experienced and overall high quality salon give them a shot.

Would not trust this place with my hair ever again, went for the class they have and they use you as model ! The apprentice Karah which also works doing the same service at the salon messed my hair, took over 6 months to correct and the owner choose to give two sessions free without being able to correct the mess the employee did ! Obviously the color director did not supervised this employee! Some picsTiger marks where all over my head, not a good experience! And no one holding accountable to the employee, washing their hands with We did what we can !Ended up paying 100 dlls at the last session which was an ok but never corrected

I can’t say enough about Annie, here at the salon. She is so patient and a wizard with everything she does. My coworker just took a photo of the side of my head on this random work day so I could see how beautiful my highlights and cut are. It is a beautiful salon and a great experience overall.

I really love my stylist at SalonDj, Valerie. I generally get a balayage and she is very skilled at this. I have seen her many times and every time I leave I get so many compliments on my hair. I have a lot of hair and it’s pretty thick and she is patient and very detailed. Well worth the time in the chair. SalonDj itself is fun salon with the friendliest staff. You can book online which is very nice.

Went in on Saturday to change things up a bit!  Blonde to Red!!  From the moment I walked in the door I felt at home.  The entire staff was amazing, everyone in the building took care of me at one point or another.  My stylist was Nikki!  She was so sweet and very personable, I feel like Ive known her for years!  I was a little nervous to make such a big change but Nikki made the process seamless and I felt so comfortable through the entire appointment.  It turned out amazing, Ive never gotten so many compliments on my hair color in my life!  I also decided to book a makeup application.  Thalita is so great!  Very professional, used a variety of prestige brands (that made my face look flawless!) and kept the brushes, and workspace clean the entire time!  I highly recommend Salon DJ.  As someone that worked in the beauty industry for years, I can say that this place is one of the best in Chicago!  I cant wait until my next appointment!
