Kind to your face, unprofessional behind your back.I came here with my partner, who booked an appointment online. My partner has phone/social anxiety so they specifically found a place with online appointments.They started talking about my partner behind their back, using the wrong pronouns. I was sitting right there and could hear everything as they complained about how the appointment was booked online??? I do not understand, because why would there be online appointment slots if they didn’t want to work then.It felt extremely unprofessional and passive aggressive as they complained about the booking right in front of me.Other than that, the haircut was nice which is why this review is three stars.I would think that a place that markets itself as inclusive with tiny pride flags everywhere would provide an accommodating experience to those who have felt alienated by other hair salons in the past.

The staff was incredibly friendly and outgoing and my stylist (Mykil) did a phenomenal job on my hair! I love it so much! I have pretty long hair so it took a while to get it all done and he never made me feel rushed bc of how long it took. I will definitely be coming back here again!

I always love coming here. Beside the fact that all the stylists are great at what they do, it just feels nice here. The salon is open and inviting, with lots of natural light and exposed brick, and plenty of comfy chairs to sit on while you wait. I have never gotten a bad haircut here. Highly recommend.

Rebeca! Go with Rebeca! I do not typically like my haircuts. I am very particular with the techniques I want used on my hair. I feel like I make myself clear with stylist but they still don’t give me what I want. This has been my experience with other salons. I went into Milio’s expecting the same experience as usual, but I was pleasantly surprised with the way my hair turned out. It’s EXACTLY what I asked for. Many thanks to Rebeca! I explained to her that I like a blunt haircut. I dislike the layers look on myself. I also have a lot of hair and need to take out a lot of weight / bulk to make it look nice and manageable. I told her that many times in the past, I have asked the stylist to take the weight out of my hair and I end up with layers. It was not a problem at all for Rebeca, she knows what she’s doing!

Ive been visiting Milios for several years and adore the staff. My stylist is friendly and does a beautiful job with my curly hair. During the pandemic, they have been especially mindful of practicing proper safety by social distancing between people and stations, wearing masks, and offering gloves and hand sanitizer. I genuinely feel better about having my hair cut here because theyre taking these considerations.

Ive been a regular customer at Milios for a couple years. My stylist is Lori and shes a fantastic stylist. I used to be a hairstylist myself so I know talent when I see it. I wear my hair in short/edgy styles but she does great work on long hair too. I like the atmosphere - its very nice/upscale but a really chill attitude. Everyone from the receptionists to the owner has been great to interact with. Plus theyve done a great job putting procedures in place to keep everyone safe during the pandemic. I dont feel worried going there because they take every precaution. The prices are good too. Also - very LGBTQ friendly. If youre looking for a place to get a cut/color I very much recommend Milios.

Ive been going to Milios for haircuts for 3-4 years now. I used to work in the area, but even now that I work elsewhere in the city, the commute to Milios is worth it. Always excellent service. Additionally, in these times, I would not go to get my hair cut if I didnt feel safe. But Milios well-thought-out, careful, and rigorous Covid precautions are a reassurance. Despite all the adaptations, the atmosphere remains friendly and intimate, like a (functional) family. Finally, as a non-binary transperson, getting a haircut is often a hassle. Not at Milios! All of their staff listen, ask questions, and give you the haircut you need. I couldnt recommend them more.

I’ve been going to Milio’s since I moved to Chicago 4 years ago. They do a great job every time and I’ve always trusted them, but I’ve never felt compelled to write a review. Today on a whim, I decided to try out Michael when I needed a cut and couldn’t get in with anyone I’d booked with before. I’ve never had a better hair cut in my life. I am so pleased with the attention to detail he spent making sure I liked the way I looked when I left. He took the time to understand my hair and listened when I told him what I liked and didn’t. Thank you Michael! In addition, Milio’s is a wonderful salon and their staff is the best!

Yesterday was my first time getting my hair done at Milios Hair Studio and I loved it! Everyone was friendly and professional. Amy did my cut and color, both turned out beautiful! And she really took the time to consult me and listen to my wishes beforehand. I am super satisfied and will definitely keep going back.

Erin did a phenomenal job and the whole place was very clean with everyone socially distanced. I had been going to the same salon for 15 years but my stylist moved away. A neighbor recommended Milios and Erin and I now have a new hair home.

Wallace did a great job on my hair! He was very friendly and easy to talk to, and seemed knowledgeable about cutting curly hair. The front desk had me sanitize my hands upon arrival, took my temp, and asked me screening questions. I think all business should be following the example of Milio’s as we navigate Covid

You guys..this is THE place. I have type 2B/C frizzy hair that’d hadn’t been cut in forever. My curls and scalp were so dehydrated they were practically jumping off my head. Dalia changed my life! Not only did she teach me how to proper wash, section, style and diffuse my hair, but she literally cut each of my curls INDIVIDUALLY - so no weird bottomheavy triangle shaped clown hair! Honestly #bless Milio’s this was the best part of my 2020. *Also incredibly safe and respectful with COVID precautions*

The staff at Milios is warm, welcoming, and professional. Dalia provided me a video consultation ahead of time so we could zero in on my needs. She’s very good at making recommendations and helping you figure out what you want. She’s also given me tips on how to maintain my hair, too. Milios consistently provides me with the best haircuts that Ive ever had. I especially like that they wash your hair after using electric clippers so that you dont have to worry about feeling itchy after getting a haircut. Be sure to make a reservation as this place is very popular and the stylists always take the time to do a thorough job for each client.

Been here twice. 1st with a haircut with Amy, and just recently for a wax with Dalia. Both were AMAZING. For my haircut Amy knew exactly what to do by what I was complaining about. My hair is thick and curly/wavy and I have loads of it. It gets heavy and over the summer I get extremely hot. Amy cut it the perfect way to compliment my face, and thinned+layered it out so it have a fuller body but it was not as heavy. Loved it. And for my wax Dalia is a pro! Compared to other waxes(bikini) I have gotten in the past this was relatively painless! She re-verified what I wanted before getting started and walked me through it with a mirror. They have a text service that reminds you of your appointment, complimentary refreshments, great prices, and a referral program. I am definitely sticking with them!!

Ive followed Michael A. for a few years. His ability to provide quality haircuts that are also unique to me is amazing. But the location and layout of this facility is difficult for mobility limited so I will not be returning.

Ive always had a hard time finding a good hair stylist for haircuts. I have finally found a good place with nice atmosphere to get my haircut. Michelle is great and she also has an understanding of having a sensitive scalp as well. She listened to what I wanted and gave me some suggestions as well.I understand you have to pay good money for good quality...so I just wish it was a little less expensive...but still definitely going back. :)

Have been coming to Milios since I graduated college in 2016 and it is hard to imagine getting my haircut anywhere else. Lori does a fantastic job each and every time.

I had great service! Totally chill atmosphere. I had Erin who completely understood what I wanted and used her skill to amp up the look. She really communicated well and made sure I always knew what she was planning to do with my cut before she did it. Great experience and worth the price.

Always an awesome experience, and the price for a mens haircut isnt bad! Ive been going for the past 3 years and have always had a different stylist. Theyre all so kind and professional and I never leave unhappy. The space is also really really cool, especially if you get a window seat and have a view of the trains going in and out and all the people walking around. The business is also constantly improving, theyve painted, gotten new amazing chairs, and fixed up the place over the past few years and it really shows!

Been going here for years, even after moving out of the neighborhood. Dahlia and crew do a fantastic job. (Tip: say yes to the hot towel.) And at $30 for a guys cut, its a good value compared to other salons. Location right by the Belmont L stop is a big plus, too.

I have been going to Milios for two (three?) years and wouldnt go anywhere else in Chicago. Shout out to Leigh who is awesome and knows how to get my hair looking great without fail. The rest of the staff are friendly and the space has a very cool warehouse/loft vibe. Love this place.

Unfortunately, I had a super weird experience here. I came in for a simple bang trim, and was told it would cost $5. I sat down in the chair and the stylist asked if I had run to the salon because my forehead was a little sweaty. I apologized and explained that I had only walked there so my long bangs mustve made my forehead get a bit hot. She continued to bring it up three more times during the course of the short cut, even though I continuously apologized and didnt feel sweaty at all. (I mean what girl wants to be told that theyre sweaty in the first place??? I suppose I understand mentioning it once, but repeatedly trying to make me feel uncomfortable didnt feel professional at all.) Then, to top it off, I was charged $15 up front instead of the $5 I was told, and my bangs were cut way too short. Sigh. Wont be back.

So I waited a while to write this review until I had an appointment with my stylist of 6 years.In October of 2018, I made an appt at Milos to lighten my mohawk for a wedding I was in. For months leading up to the appt, I didnt redye my hair, however there was some residual blue left. I sat down with a stylist (I am leaving her name out) and explained that I was hoping for a silvery-blue. I explained that I had been dying my hair for the better part of a decade, and conditioning was very important for my fragile but healthy hair.She proceeds to quote me a price. At the time, I had just moved across the country from Key West to Chicago, escaping the wake of Hurricane Irma, several thousands of dollars in debt. Money was incredibly tight, but I had made the commitment to be in the wedding party a long while ago. I was willing to spend as much as I could. The stylist quoted me several hundred dollars more than I had in all accounts combined. After a breakdown, she was able to lower the price and give me close to what I wanted (instead of any color, we went straight platinum blonde).She proceeds to bleach my hair and puts me under the dryer while she works on another client. No problem. Im used to spending the better part of the day (and several deliveries ordered) with my girl back home.After the dryer, she washes my hair but doesnt do a single conditioning. Nada. I pay and tip and leave.The following day, my hair is falling out every time I touch it. When it was wet, it would feel like cotton candy. Running my fingers thru it resulted in shattered fragments just littering my clothes. Ive fried my hair before, its a risk and I understand. At home I tried vitamin E oil, argon oil, conditioner for hours, cold water rinse, even mayo. Nothing was saving my hair.Two days before my flight to the wedding, I called Milios to see if I could get an emergency appt. Either save it or shave it, I didnt care. But I couldnt be in a wedding with my hair falling out.The manager was super kind. I had an appt set with a free conditioning scheduled for the following day. The new stylist, was super kind, understanding, apologetic, and did the best she could. I was in the bowl for almost an hour with various conditioners. She trimmed some dead ends. And she was very reasonable with what I was charged. Very very friendly.Now why am I reviewing now? I had the chance to see my stylist back home last week. After exchanging pleasantries, she asked, who killed your hair. It had been months of continued treatment, and yet she could still tell. Thats why Im writing the review.Im sure had I been more financially stable as I am now, my experience would have been different. Im sure the first stylist wasnt being malicious in killing my hair, but it did happen. The manager and the second stylist where absolutely wonderful.I had high expectations walking in. It Milios came highly recommended from people with colored hair. I thought I was going to be safe.Im sure Im just one bad experience in a sea of great ones. And thats great. Truly the place is incredible and the work the stylists have turned out is beautiful.Sadly, I will be looking for a new place to take my business. I just dont think I can trust my hair there again.Thank you for reading.
