Ton Shen Health should not be considered a health practice whatsoever, they have been under investigation by cook county and the city of Chicago for advocating supplements which dangerously increased lead levels in three Chicago area children. Simply googling Ton Shen Health will bring this case up. If you value your health, please avoid this practice as it has already shamelessly damaged the health of our local CHILDREN.

I have been going to Ton Shen for acupuncture for years..I have seen both Doctor Guo and Gary.. I have been going to Gary more regularly for various issues over the years.. He has a gentle demeanor and you cant feel the needles..It is the most restful time and when I leave there, I always leave feeling healthy, content and refreshed..Ton Shen is clean, efficient and they have the front store with all their own herbs.. Excellent!I have been going here for years under the care of Portia. She is gentle, caring, and considers herself a true healer--of which I agree!I miscarried a few years ago, and under her guidance, supervision, and practice (hand-in-hand with my midwife) I was able to safely wait and deliver the baby and didnt need intervention (i.e. a D&C) at all. I took herbs, and routine acupuncture, and massage. She also guided my food choices.When I got pregnant again, Portia prescribed herbs and performed acupuncture during pregnancy and I delivered a healthy baby boy--full term, weighing 8 lbs. 12. oz.I am pregnant again and will continue to visit Portia as she oversees my overall heath, as well as the health of my babies.Once again, I cannot say enough about her practice.

I am surprised no one is commenting on the astronomical cost of seeing him. He spends less than probably 8 minutes with you. Doesnt tell you the diagnosis. When you see reviews in other places saying its between $200-$500. Those arent made up numbers thats what it costs. For me it didnt do anything. The combination of low time spent, high cost and low results basically makes for me not going back.

For years I had been troubled with allergies. I had difficulty breathing through my nose; my ears were always plugged and felt as though I was talking into a tunnel. Many times I also had headaches and my sinuses hurt as well. At the recommendation of a friend, I went to see Dr. Guo. After taking his herbs, Im happy today. I found relief and all my symptoms disappeared.

I went to Ton Shen Health for pleurisy which is where the lining of my lungs was inflamed causing so pain I couldnt sleep, drive, or go to work. Every breathe I took was etched with so much pain I dreaded taking a deep breath. I went to the emergency room so many times, was put on steroids and given pain medication that only masked the pain. Once pain pills were done my symptoms were back. I couldnt take it anymore and came here. I received acupuncture, a Gua sha massage and herbal tablets. After my first visit I could already feel relief and the excruciating pain that I felt with one deep breathe or cough had subsided! Mind you I was afraid to cough because of the pain. After not finding any pain relief and thousands of dollars spent at the hospital I wish I would have come here first! I went back for two more sessions and have not had the pain that I felt ever again. I would recommend this place for someone trying to find true relief and healing! Not just mask your pain and symptoms with drugs and prescription meds. It is also affordable in comparison to emergency room visits and bills.

I have been treated for various conditions with acupuncture and herbs at Ton Shen Health for more than a decade with very positive results!

I have been going to Ton Shen Health for almost a year and a half now, and most of my symptoms are gone. I have had fibromyalgia since I was very young, food allergies since I was about 12, problems sleeping, and a few other issues.I am 23 now, and I never thought that anyone would be able to help me, but after getting herbs from Dr. Guo and seeing two of the acupuncturists there, most of my symptoms are gone. The food allergies take longer, but now I can eat mangoes, clementines, and some nuts after years of not being able to eat fruit or nuts (and any reaction that I do have to something that I eat accidentally is much less severe).I am also now off all of my medications (except for one), and I was taking those other meds for many years. I never thought I would be able to go without them, let alone actually do well, but since Ton Shen Health treats the root of the problem instead of covering it up I dont need them anymore!Everyone who works there is extremely helpful and very nice so I have never been afraid to ask any questions concerning treatment or herbs.Dr. Guo understands my issues and explains everything that hes prescribing so that Im not wondering what hes doing. I have seen both Dr. Gary and Dr. Fan for acupuncture, and they have been very understanding when I am in more pain and need a more gentle treatment or need something specific treated. They have also suggested other things that I can do by myself while Im at home to help myself between appointments. The ladies at the front desk are equally helpful and have always been so nice to me.I can honestly say that whenever anyone who works at the office smiles at me or asks me how Im doing that it is genuine and always makes me very happy to be there, even if Im not feeling well or am nervous about how the acupuncture will go that day because of that.I have never gotten more help at any doctor, or gotten treated in a way that would actually solve my problems, like I have at Ton Shen Health.
