I went in to Chesapeake General ER because I was having flank pain. Though they were crazy busy and under staffed, they were by my side and I felt like I was attended to adequately. The nurses and staff were very nice, I hope I don’t have to go back but if I do I won’t dread going because I know I was taken care of the first time.

Worst emergency room experience of my life. There was a woman in the middle of the waiting room throwing up nonstop all over herself and the floor, and every single person ignored it. The waiting room was absolutely packed and people were crowding as far away from this woman as possible. The nurses called 2 people back and LEFT THIS WOMAN IN THE WAITING ROOM COMPLETELY UNATTENDED. She was still sitting in her own vomit when i was called back. Not a single nurse looked her way. Most disgusting and no doubt illegal thing i have ever witnessed at a place of business. The workers all act like they hate their job. The rest of my visit was a continuing nightmare that ended with my leaving in more pain a full 10 hours later. Most disgusting hospital Ive ever seen, they need to be inspected.

I went in early Saturday morning for DVT, and I was seen promptly. Everyone was very helpful and caring from the nurses, PA, to Dr Brown. I was surprised that I didn’t have to wait for the ultrasound tech, as she was ready before everyone was done with their part. I was discharged after 2 hours. They followed up with me a few hours later to ensure I was able to fill my med at a local pharmacy, if not they would help me further. Got another follow up call the next day to see how I was doing. Great service overall.

The people here seemed concerned and Tried to help while I was there but as soon as I left and needed assistance on follow up care because my health problem is continuing to get worse And I can’t eat and the doctor they told me to see said it would be 5 weeks before he could see me they will not call back. I can’t wait 5 weeks to be seen when you can’t eat or drink anything but it seems nobody cares that I have this problem. Doctors don’t seem to care about patients anymore. We are like a number to them and the faster we go away the better off they are even if we are not better. I always was told medical malpractice was a leading killer in the United States and After my experiences with 4 different doctors in the past few weeks I now see why.

While the nurses were great, I wish o would have gone to Norfolk General. I spent 12 hours in this hospital, spending 90%, of my time waiting. They prescribed me a medication, that my insurance needs a preauthorization for, and I’ve spent days getting the run around trying to get it from them, being transferred all over the hospital. For my insurance to call today, and be told, this hospital does not do preauthorizations. What kind of hospital can’t preauthorize, something they prescribed. Now I have to wait until I can’t get in with a doctor and I’ve already missed a week of work, due to my stomach problems

My daughter had her baby here and my first grandchild. Was nothing but first class and and when a little issue came up with Chase they made sure the Dad and Mom was kept with everything that was going on and was able to provide a courtesy room for mom so she wouldnt have to drive 45 on way to get back and forth. Me being from out of town and most of the people in Virginia are so rude you run into it was a great pleasure once we walked in the hospital it was lile we were in another state. The Nurses Doctors and staff in general was top notch. Thank you all for taking care of Chase Adam Johnson 5/29/19

Pros: Entire hospital staff was friendly and compassionate.Cons: Extremely slow. The staff, outside of the waiting room, has no sense of urgency. Waited almost 2 hours after being seen by the PA for her to get the supplies needed to drain an abscess. I could hear the staff’s entire conversations about their dogs, food they were eating, their next day off, and everything in between.I understand that the ER can be slow and people who require more intense medical treatment will be treated first, but this was ridiculous.

Our daughter was born here and the staff was excellent. We didnt have any serious complications and while the rooms were not anything to write home about... They were more than adequate. I will say the food was a little on the blah side of things... But again, the nurses were top notch and really made us feel like we were cared for while we were there. Wed go here again.

The care I received for outpatient surgery at CMC exceeded all of my expectations! My anxiety was high walking in, and as soon as there was an interaction with a person, the tension literally melted out of my being. Every person encountered was sincere, warm, competent, and reassuring. Nurse Joanna started my IV with no trouble and zero pain thanks to a drop of lidocaine beforehand. My nurse anesthetist and anesthesiologist were second to none. They took precautions to ensure that none of their meds would trigger vertigo. They explained everything regarding my anesthesia in words I could understand and devised a plan I felt completely comfortable with. My surgeon is a rock star in his field. Just cannot say enough wonderful things about this hospital and every single member of their stellar staff! I feel lucky and blessed to receive care from CMC and will continue to choose them over and over again.

I have never received anything but excellent care from the staff and doctors. I did experience a wait time of about 18 minutes once due to the amount of people coming to ER for bad cold or flu. When I was in the room with the nurse, she tried to get me back to an ER room as soon as possible. I cant give a 5 star review because of my last visit to ER. I checked in around 4:30 and was taken back to a room within about 5 minutes. After X-rays and CT, I had a visit from a doctor. I then just layed in the gurney. Around 10 pm, the nurse came in and needed some more testing of blood and urine. At this time I was told that I was going to be admitted but no beds were available. Around 7am, I was finally taken to a room on the 6th floor. We passed several rooms that were empty and for that, I was not pleased. Also I was never given any of my medications or food to eat. The staff on the floor and all of the other specialist were outgoing and treated me like a king. I even noted that the clean up service was very good and what she did with a very caring attitude. I do recommend this hospital and understand the staff is there to help and do the best they can.

By looking at the reviews of this hospital I wouldnt take my dog to it. But about 2 years ago I had no choice but to go to this hospital. I was sitting at a red light on Battlefield Blvd by this hospital when a teenager texting rear ended me. I was taken by ambulance. I complained of neck and lower back pain. NO X-Rays were taken after seeing the doctor. They gave me some pain pills only and released me. The next day I seen our family Doctor and he took many X-Rays. There is no excuse for this this type of action from the hospital. I am fully insured so insurance would have covered the cost. Like I stated earlier, I would not take my Dog to this hospital.

But the owner of your hospital is probably a newb to this hospitality industry Im sorry but your food sucks and your staff need help really badly and good luck with keeping up with your uneducated staff. I went about 6:41 on 1/23/17, because of the pain I was having in my left elbow down to my fingers. First of all you go in an there is no Triage nurse. Maybe waited 15 minutes for him to come to the desk. Then he and 2 security officers began to talk. A nurse comes out and calls two people. One if those people should have been me. Finally get to registration, that was pretty quick. Then Im assuming she was the charge nurse, because she said lets get them back their we have beds. Yes you did way down the hall in the observation unit. Then you wait until the nurse comes in. Monica was nice until she says what brings you here today? First of all you do have my chart. Then she says, well its not emergent, so I have to wait unit the doctor tells me whether to order an Cray on not. Finally Dr. Parker comes in asked me the same dang question. And proceeds to tell me that this was not the place for that kind of pain that i was having in my elbow. He asked me if I had a pcp. I told him yes. He says you should have gone to her first. I remember when you could go to CRH and be seen for anything. Hopefully I want have to come back there!Evelyn Lamb

This hospital is backward and there is no sense for any urgency. I think the P.As need a little more information about the health of patients and know how to speak to a patient because this one P.A needs to know how to talk and treat patients other then to keep arguing with them. Her name is Brittany S and she had a very unpleasant attitude and she even rolled her eyes at me. I walked out although I am in terrible pain but she had no urgency in her walk nor how she communicated. I came in for consent Abdominal pain and pelvic pain followed by burning in my kidneys which has been going on for sometime now. I was telling the P.A about what was hurting me and so for. I then told her my kidneys hurt and so for. She then asked me why!? Really!? If I knew what was wrong with me I would be sitting in the E.R. what kind of dumb question was that. I could have said why are such an air head. But I didnt. Anyways dont come to this hospital for the Staff in the bed areas they dont know what they are talking about for they dont know how to treat and accommodate a patient and there needs. I wish I could give -1 star but 1 will have to do. I understand people need P.AS and Nurses and etc in the medical field but, make sure you get some P.As who know there information and know how to treat people.

Went to the smaller facility first they couldnt do the xrays after waiting for over an hour they finally took the two labs and still had to stick me even though I had a pic line. Then to the main hospital trying to find parking good luck there is none. Then I had to wait another 40 minutes to get re registered and then i had to wait again for another 30 minutes. Being a veteran I had better service at the va hospital and that is saying something. If I would have come here for my sepsis Im sure it would have killed me. You would be better off at a back yard butcher at least theyd see you in a timely manner. I would never recommend this hospital or any of its affiliates. The federal government move more efficiently than this hospital.

ETA someone from the hospital did call me to explain and apologize. They said they will try to explain the process better to future patients. I do appreciate the effort.Worst experience Ive ever had at a hospital. This morning I went to urgent care for heart palpitations. EKG showed a problem, so they sent me to the ER at Chesapeake General. After a 20 minute wait, a technician took me to a side room for a new EKG. This was before any kind of registration. Never saw my ID. All she had to go on was the name I told her. I tried to show her the order from the doctor, but she wasnt interested. She ran the EKG on me for 10 seconds and then told me to return to the lobby. It was dirty, smelly, and very crowded. Some woman was going around taking pictures of random people in the lobby, so that caused a big argument, and security intervened. After another wait when we were no closer to progress, we just gave up and left. Ill have to find a cardiologist.

He verbally confirmed my address to me and still wrote it down wrong therefore, my bill never came. I even told them I was a veteran and it needed to be sent to them and not me in the first place. MEDICALLY NEGLIGENT. GO TO SENTARA NORFOLK GEN IF YOU CAN. The doctor that I had the unfortunate joy of interacting with looked at me as if I were another black woman trying to secure pills for a drug fix rather than looking at me objectively and helping me accordingly. Presenting with severe knee pain, off the bat I was forced to walk around the hospital to be led to my room (even though I could barely walk) the tech leading me noticed my limp and instead asked the woman behind me if she would have liked a wheelchair. I met the P.A. Lena Sifen was the only doctor I saw ant interacted with. Off the bat as I was I’ve her an overview of my pain, she looked skeptical and basically told me within five minutes that she couldn’t help me. She then sent me for x-rays and made me wait two hours (meanwhile I was silently crying in my room due to pain) and she went in a nurse to stretch, extend, and basically cause me more pain. I was given an inconclusive diagnosis, a knee brace, a script for Motrin (after telling the kind woman that I had been takin it for days and it did absolutely nothing for me), and crutches that weren’t even my height. I literally left the emergency room in much more excruciating pain than I was when I went in. I should have gone to Sentara Norfolk Gen. I would have left with a conclusive diagnosis, solid referrals, and would have been treated like a human being.

Well, Ill leave a review in hopes someone sees and saves there time and money. DONT go in there inless you think your having a heart attack, stroke, or broke a bone. They will NOT treat you for pain. I went in for tooth pain. I sat for 2 hours before I saw a doctor. Then I hear that they cannot give out pain meds. So then I need to wait another hour for doctor to sign me out. Save your time! Its a shame we cant get help for pain, its not like we are getting HUGE prescription. I went in at around 11pm on a Saturday night, left at 4am with no treatment. Not what a hospital should do.
