Taking a group of fourth and fifth graders from my church on a field trip to Mercy Junction Peace and Justice Center was such a privilege. We were welcomed with the hospitality that the center has become known for, taught the five radical beliefs behind the actions of the center and reminded that this is where Jesus would be hanging out- giving a glimpse of how the world should be rather than as it is. It makes me proud to be part of a community that is working to show Gods radical love in action to those who need it most.
Wonderful place to go to do your art, music, community driven non-profits, culinary arts and a wide range of other skills used in these spaces. Homebase to many activists, this a refuge for people that think outside the box as well as make a positive change in the world. One of only seven Peace Centers - uniforms of any kind, police or otherwise, are not allowed on property. For the need for that is, everyone should feel safe and unjudged, as well as this be a sanctuary for those who have been persecuted in the past. Highly recommend it :)
Since this visit a new owner has cleared out the place and is looking to make improvements. The historic building is exquisite and charming. It is rented for studio spaces.
