I started working out with Robin while pregnant with my first baby, and thank goodness I did! She is a total mama body guru. She helped me feel physically (and mentally!) strong for labor and delivery, and solved numerous aches and pains that popped up during my pregnancy. Postpartum, she developed an exercise regimen tailored specifically to my needs to help me regain core strength. She is so knowledgeable about prenatal and postnatal fitness and I cant imagine my pregnancy journey without her!

Robin is the guru of all body issues. I personally trust her with every injury or concern, and send patients weekly to her to work on strength, flexibility, and stability. “how do you feel in your body?” is now something I ask every patient. Her aura and wisdom and personality make every encounter exceedingly beneficial. I could not recommend her more highly!

I hate going to the gym/working out. To be honest, I’m not much on walking across a parking lot or up a flight of stairs. I thought I’d never find a work out activity I could tolerate, much less enjoy. Robin/tru Pilates… magical. I don’t know how else to describe a person or place that makes fitness feel like a relaxing spa experience… and gets noticeable results! A friend recently commented on how in shape I look. That was a first for sure! She asked what I’ve been doing. I let her know I’ve been taking classes at tru Pilates twice a week. She said “That’s it!?” and I replied “That’s it. :)”. Tru Pilates also offers more intense options if sweating is your thing. They can customize an experience for you! That’s why the introductory 3 private classes are so amazing and much needed. You’ll never feel like you are forcing yourself to be a healthier person if you give the tru crew a chance. I’m so thankful my friend recommended them to me, so I wanted to take the time to recommend them to you!

I came to Tru Pilates limited in the kinds and duration of activities that I could do. I started with the strength and balance class 4 years ago and have progressed to other higher level classes. The result has been a steady decrease in pain and increase in strength, flexibility and balance that has benefited every area of my life. I walk out from a class at Tru Pilates feeling a new person! I came to Robin and Tru wanting to strengthen my pelvic floor and rebuild by abdominal strength after having 2 babies. Now in my late 30’s and with a couple sports injuries I needed a more gentle way to build strength and stay fit. What a relief to find Robin at Tru to help identify exactly what my habits were that could be improved for better ergonomics and to teach me how to build strength both at the studio and at home. I used to be a runner and enjoy free weights, after leaving a large gym with COVID shut down I was so pleased to find a more gentle and personalized way to keep up my fitness- one I can be confident will serve me well for many years. These ladies learn your body- they know your injuries and what areas you are trying to focus on. I was so impressed with the personal sessions I had with Robin, I now have insights about my body that have changed the way I do daily tasks for the better. Highly recommend!

I had private sessions with Robin T. during my second pregnancy and it was so helpful in preparing my body for birth without having had much time to recover from the first birth. She taught me specific (and really simple!) exercises and stretches to strengthen the muscles I would need for a natural birth and postpartum period. She also gave me a lot to think about in terms of how I hold my body and hold the babies. She also helped me rebalance both sides of my body from holding my toddler on one side for so long. I recommend any mom - new or experienced - go see Robin! :)

Robin and Tru Pilates have saved my body! I started seeing Robin for pregnancy related issues over 6 years ago, and within one session, she had figured out ways to resolve my pain (which a dozen or so chiropractic visits hadnt been able to do). I have continued with her in both private and group sessions since then, and my body lets me know when I havent been giving it the pilates attention it needs. With her PT background, Robin is able to give personalized recommendations and adjustments that make all the difference. During the pandemic, we ordered some pilates equipment to have at home because I missed going to Tru Pilates so much. My husband is now also a devoted pilates follower. We are both dentists and put our bodies through some tough positions all day. Thank you to Tru Pilates and Robin for keeping us going!

For the past 15 years truPilates has been there for my family and me whether to prevent injury, promote wellness or, in my case, also recover successfully from a long standing knee injury. Robin and the trucrew are highly skilled, knowledgeable and supportive to all, making classes and individual or duet sessions fun and exceptionally beneficial. I visited Tru Pilates and had one on one sessions with Robin as well as small group sessions with Desiree. Robin was so incredibly knowledgeable and understanding of where I was in my postpartum exercise journey. She worked with me to restore my pelvic muscles as well as my confidence to work out safely and effectively all the while being patient with my body. The studio is bright and clean and provides a very peaceful environment with great instructors.

The staff at tru pilates are total pros. They understand body mechanics better than any trainer I’ve ever seen in thirty five years of working out. They get to know their clients very well so corrections of form are precise and tailored to the client’s particular needs. I’ve greatly improved my posture, my back and hips no longer hurt, and my core is at its best ever. I have come to rely on them.

I love this place. Robins pilates classes are excellent and so are the stretch classes. Ive taken classes there for years. All her instructors provide individualized attention and tailor the class for you. I have a low back issue and they are always good about adapting the exercises for me. Robins background in physical therapy is very helpful. I also frequently refer patients to her after they have been released from rehab and she does a great job with them. Highly recommend!

Ive attended classes at TruPilates for over 10 years and its a fabulous, relaxing, healing space with excellent teachers and so many classes to chose from. I always feel challenged, but also somehow magically always also feel super successful and competent because of the way the classes are instructed. I love the quiet, calmness of the small class sizes and how theyre clearly tailored to the people who attend, so much personal attention is given to everyone, everyones needs are considered.

I could not love Tru Pilates more. Robin and her staff are infinitely knowledgeable-- consistently providing safe, balanced and challenging workouts. I walk out of class with screaming abs and shaky legs, feeling three inches taller. Tru has helped me through injuries and taught me how to maximize my other workouts through proper alignment and core stability. LOVE.

I’ve been a faithful client of Tru Pilates for several years, having first come at the recommendation of my physical therapist when I asked what I could do to continue strengthening my back and knees. Now in my 50s, I can’t imagine not having the positive benefits of Pilates in my life. Robin and the team at Tru Pilates are gifted in providing class experiences of wellbeing and positivity in addition to a variety of Pilates workouts. Class sizes are small, the atmosphere is warm industrial, and the studio is conveniently located in the center of town. I encourage anyone interested, from beginner to advanced, to check out Tru Pilates in Downtown Charlottesville.
