I suffered decades from TMJ, frequent sore throat, dry mouth, sinus infections, and waking in the night for a couple hours with thirst. After seeing several dentists and specialists, they all recommended I break my jaw to try and align my malocclusion. I told my naturopath my symptoms and he said several of his patients had similar issues that were completely resolved after working with Bronson dentistry. Dr. Bronson quickly assessed me and told me I likely had sleep apnea from choking on my tongue, which didnt have room on the top of my mouth to go into its proper place. This was causing acid reflux into my sinuses and throat, causing infection. He gave me a quote to solve everything, possibly including my TMJ, using a special palate expander he invented (which doesnt show in my smile), along with the help of a oromyofascial practitioner (tongue physical therapist) and an osteopath to encourage everything to go into place. The most dramatic shift came early, when I tried mouth taping, aka the Buteyko method. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I GOT A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP. I broke down and wept from the disability I didnt even know I had suffered my entire life. I worked several months with Kathy Winslow on strengthening my tongue so it sits where it needs to, and chews and swallows properly. There is now room for the left side of my tongue to stretch out and up to the top of my mouth for the first time ever. It was scary signing up for their program because there werent enough reviews to tell of this program would work. Im only a fraction of the way into this process, but it has been worth every penny, despite my initial sticker shock. The Bronsons are highly specialized and trained. Unfortunately most people want a quick fix at a cheap price. Holistic healing can take time and retraining. I hope their methods go mainstream and we can start catching these problems in youth where they often start, when children start mouth breathing and stop using their tongue as a natural retainer for their teeth.
