I teach SilverSneakers and Yoga/Pilates at SCCC. It is a pleasant place to work. The staff are supportive and my students enjoy fitness, fun & friends.

I love the pool area and the lifeguards do a good job.

The summer basketball camp is amazing and the facility always smells clean and looks clean.

I havent got a chance to try any equipment, or anything else, I went to setup my student discount card, but got a photo of pool hours

A good place to swim, a big pool that is always warm and deep. Inexpensive and friendly, but can be quite packed. For parties, rooms are decently sized but kind of old and shabby, but you can have a party at the pool on one of the decks too. Has a lot to do and is a nice place to work out. There is even a pokéstop here. Would recommend (with experience as a local).

Brand new equipment. Very clean environment. Staff is very helpful and its just a great place to come and enjoy a great workout.

I always find the community center clean and full of friendly staff. We usually visit the indoor pool, and its an activity well worth the small price. This center tries hard to have activities, groups and equipment for the whole family. Check out their informative website!

It was ok I came here to pick up some toys and watch my kids play and play basketball.

They are so rude. Me and my cousin went to get nachos and we had no shoes on and this one lady said in a sarcastic way “you have to have shoes on if you want to be up here” they are so rude. I do not like the people that work there but other than that it is ok

Really reasonable rates. The weight room could use some updated machines but it’s always clean and rarely crowded so no waiting on machines. The women’s wet area has recently been painted and cleaned deeply. The sauna and steam rooms both are awesome. The jacuzzi is old but it’s the best most vigorous I’ve ever been in. And they just installed new shower heads and mixers. So the adult only women’s wet area is my favorite place in there right now.The only complaint I have is one lady in the check in/concession booth is a tad bit grouchy, but I don’t know what she has to deal with that makes her that way.Otherwise I got nothing but good to say about the rec center.

Went here for a Cheer competition. The temperature inside the gym was outrageously hot. No air conditioning on. The sound equipment kept failing, leaving one team to finish their routine w/o music. When exiting the building, we were rushed out one exit, and had to ask permission to go to the bathroom and we were told we had “to hurry”. Rude employees, Ridiculous conditions.

Great community center! Fantastic work out room, pool, sauna, basketball court, dance aerobics classes, and yoga. Senior citizens have their own exercise classes as well. Inexpensive and conveniently located on Jefferson Rd.

More activities for children under 14 are needed. Swimming is the only activity for kids. There is room for a kids indoor playground and a need.

This place has been substantially updated over the past few years. Newer gym equipment is great and I love having access to a sauna and the basketball court.

Fun place

Great pool, good sizing.But today I went there, expecting to be able to swim for the majority of the day.But they called adult swim from 4:30 pm to 7:45pm!? The pool is only open till 8, so that only allows us to be in for 15 minutes?! Ludacris. Unfair hours.

It was SUPER hot in the pool area. It was mid 60s outside and they had the heat on. The chlorine smell is so strong it will give you a headache.

This place is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. Would not recommend anyone go there. The staff are extremely rude especially the concession stand workers. Their prices are horrible and have dirty rooms. DONT GO THERE OR ELSE!!

Called to rent a room for my sons 1st birthday in August and the woman rudely told me they wont be open and call back in September? Why? Cant be covid since EVERYTHING else is open now😡

The smell of the chlorine in the pool is kinda strong, however it is open all year around which is fantastic!

Attended the recreational center for a consignment sale as well as a basketball game. The consignors items needed to be moved because of potential flooding from the rain and the center did a nice job alerting the person in charge to have them remove their items. The basketball court was well maintained, but some of the staff were not knowledgeable about how to operate the basketball goals and lower/move them. Overall, good experience.

Took my granddaughter to a bday party here. She always enjoys it. My daughter is allergic to chlorine, and the pool room always smells so strong, its difficult for her to breathe.

Perfect for birthdays you can reserve the decks perfect for when the weather dont agree with the kids.. good for baby showers and things like that you can reserve rooms dont have to reserve just the pool area good parking close to fast food.

My grandsons 5th birthday party was a wet success! The lifeguards on duty were patient, easygoing and polite. It was extremely hot for non swimmers, though!

I come here on a regular basis. I love the staff and facilities. The only con I have is the staff seems to be at a minimum on weekends. During this time they usually have large parties that are held there (for birthdays and special occasions) and they can sometimes be disruptive, inconsiderate of regular patrons, and ignore facility rules. There are so many people at some of these events more staff to oversee them would be nice.

Friendly staff, affordable and great place for parties. Access to indoor pool is a huge plus for kids parties.

A nice Community Center, with good athletic facilities and equipment, housed in a unique building with an iconic fabric roof. Unfortunately, cleanliness and maintenance can be problems, along with frequent flooding from nearby Davis Creek, and Jefferson Road often has long traffic jams, soon to be eliminated by the Jefferson Road Improvement Project complete with walking and biking trails nearby.

Nice family atmosphere. Some staff could use people skills.

I went here for my 12th birthday and it was great! At least good enough for me to already be planing to go there again for my 13th birthday in a month

Nice facility, though the chlorine levels are chronically high and permeate the bldg...parking lanes are narrow and people routinely park exceedingly poorly....note the no left turn restriction when trying to leave the lot....

Life guards are super cool! They let me get some goggles put of the lost and found for my little girl.

It has been a year and I am still disgusted with the management for discriminating against thousands of innocent children because they do not play for South Charlestons Pop Warner team. They can rent their facility to anyone else, they had always rented to the local leagues but because the manager didnt like a couple of adults from another league he took it out on children. I am still completely disgusted and refuse to use their facilities or attend parties at their facilities. Thankfully there are now several options for parties so it isnt an issue to avoid SC Rec Center. I still do not understand how an adult can target innocent children like that. It is absolutely pathetic. What a low life!

There’s this one lady that answers the phones who is so rude to me every time. Like I already feel awkward talking on the phone as a teenager and every time I call there I get that lady who treats me like a dog. Horrible horrible customer service, ruins my day every time, thanks rec center

The rec center was awesome when I was a teenager, about 15 years ago. Now its ok, if you want to swim or workout, but if you want to do anything else that they offer you have to make sure that you bring your own equipment (they used to rent equipment, but no longer do so).Furthermore BE VERY WARY of paying for any of their summer activities (EX. Soccer Camp, swimming lessons, ect...) Because when you pay (alot of money) for your child to do these activities they will change the schedule at the last minute or in the middle of said activity and wont call any of the parents to let them know and they wont reimburse you either.My family and I had this happen to us TWICE in summer of 2018. Missed most of swimming lessons and two days of soccer camp because of them doing schedule changes and not telling anybody. They had 3 ways to get a hold of me and never did.Next year we will be doing these activities just not through or with the South Charleston Rec Center.

Great to have an indoor pool for all seasons however the open swim is only a couple hours a day which makes it a bit annoying. The staff is very nice and the price is pretty cheap.

I love this pool but I do think that it is really dumb for adult swim is 3 hrs long and my kids were mad cause of it and I’m mad to plus there was one adult in the pool I mean I get it there should be a adult swim but definitely not 3 hrs long

Was here for the Kids consignment sale. I dont think this is the best location. Parking and traffic can be an issue and the facility doesnt have the best layout.
