I dont know how the care is, since I was never able to get an appointment after 2 months of trying and endless phone calls. They said I needed a referral from my primary care physician, so I called my PCP to send one over. I thought UNC would call to schedule after the got it, but when I didnt hear after a couple of weeks, I called and they said the referral wasnt in the system yet. I waited a couple more weeks and called again. This time they said they had gotten the referral but had asked my PCP for more detailed information. I called the PCP who said they had not received a request for more information. I called UNC again, and this time the person I talked said they had not received the referral that the previous person told me they had received. I asked to speak to a supervisor and got his voice mail. I have left him 3 messages and he hasnt called me back. There is a doctor there I wanted to see, but I despair of ever getting in!
I’ve been trying to get seen here for 3 months. PCP sent over a referral. I waited for them to call to schedule and never heard anything so when I called they said they were waiting on lab tests, results of CT’s etc...I then call back after another month and they said they have two profiles for me but they don’t have a referral from my PCP. So I need her to send another one. SOOO...We start over and I’m desperate to be seen!!! Is it the schedulers or this place???? Maybe I’m better off trying another office. This one seems to have no concern for your health or new patients.
I would rather be sedated and be told about it later rather than having to feel those tubes going up there if you know what I mean
I’ve had GI problems for a long time, UNC GI helped get me through college and I’m in a much better place. Difficult to get in, but they are always very attentive and treat you like an individual that’s a part of the process.Thank you!
So far so good. Dr. Aurora seems great and very educated. In hopefully once I have the procedures that all gets better!
Incorrectly diagnosed, missed problems on several occasions, not listened to. Heartbroken the way I was treated.
I came in passing blood from my rectum. After extensive tests was told I had reoccurring ischemic colitis. The doctor put me on medication saying I will be fine. I came in 2 weeks later saying I had gotten worse. My doctor said it was all in my mind. Now mind you I had just passed half a pint of blood in the potable potty. I said no it is right here pointing out the blood stool. She scheduled a surgery saying she doubted they would find anything. Turns out they removed 15 inches of diseased and dying large intestine. I came back 3 months later suffering same stuff and was told by her there was nothing she could do for me.
Dr Litchman ordered an array of uncnessaey test for my son who had none of the symptoms for the dieseases he was testing for. The bill I received was outrageous and he told me on the phone he’d have these written off. I then receive a letter stating I’d only get a portion written off. I didn’t even receive the results of these unnessary test until I complained about the bill. Not a single person bothered to call me prior to that! Beware of this place as they only want to fill their pockets and will straight up lie to you. I will never use anything related to UNC again due to this horrible experience of feeling like I was drained of money for absolutely nothing more than to pad the pockets of UNC. Also, the place smelled bad and looked dirty. The nurse called me 3 times the morning of my appointment asking me to come in earlier so that they could leave earlier. If you want to leave early then don’t make late appointments.
The GI department is a bit inconsiderate of patients traveling from out of town. My appointment time was at 3:00pm however I didn’t get brought to the back for patient care until 3:47pm. The CNA brought me to a smelly room. I had to ask to change rooms due to the horrible foul smell. Inconsiderate once again. Once I switched rooms I had to wait an additional 20 minutes to be seen by the doctor. I like my Doctor, However this particular visit was awful . No one apologized for the wait , no one cared. I felt like just another sick patient. After my appointment I was sent across the hall for lab work. The elderly African American lady with very short hair was rude at the front desk as well as the heavy set carcasian phlebotomist who took my blood work. There are to many miserable people working in healthcare. I work in healthcare as well and I have never treated patients the way I was treated today. UNC NEEDS TO be more considerate.
