Be aware-they will pressure you into doing more treatments. In addition, they didn’t inform me that the “glow mask” would result in additional charge. I never authorized the “glow mask” but the staff member put the treatment on me anyway.Pretty darn close to fraudUpdate: The staff contacted me after seeing this review to try to rectify my experience. I both called them back and emailed, using the address they provided. The staff never followed through. My guess is that they make so much money off these hidden charges that they don’t want to fix things. Please be aware if you choose to book services with Hand and Stone.

Your esthetician Jordan was a pleasure to get to know. Sweet warm professional young lady who was very detailed, dedicated, and knowledgeable of all the products and skin care routines at Hand and Stone. Thoroughly enjoyed talking with Jordan, she showed empathy and compassion. Most definitely would request Jordan again!

My massage was fine. Overall, I was not blown away by anything and will probably not be returning.The massage therapist was fine and nothing was bad. If you really need a massage this is probably fine. For some reason I still found it difficult to relax during and after the massage.

The wonderful staff of the Chapel Hill Hand and Stone have been so patient either me when I have needed to reschedule my appts. They are awesome!

I had a fabulous experience at the Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa this weekend. The reception staff were very welcoming and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Annie did my facial and explained in great detail everything she was doing, offering great advice on the treatments my skin would benefit from. All the products had a great smell and my face was radiant when I left. Such a great find and I hope to return soon.

Very disappointing service. Gave a very lazy 40 min massage instead of the 50. While you are clearly paying for 1hr. Never going back and would not recommend the place to anyone. Waste of money!

Prior to my visit here I had never had a massage or facial. Both technicians made sure to fully explain the processes and made sure I was comfortable. The time put into making sure I understood everything made my experience that much better. I look forward to future visits here.

This is an awesome spa! I walked in and was greeted right away with a smile. I didnt have to wait long. The therapist asked if there were any issues I was dealing with and worked on them wonderfully! They are taking all of the precautions to keep everyone safe! Will definitely be going back!

My first visit to this location, I was visiting from out of state and nervous due to the pandemic. Not only was it clean but everyone workign there was professional and friendly. I saw the receptionists wiping down chairs and door handles, everyone was wearing masks, and i felt very safe. My masseuse was great and I was finally able to relax. It was my first massage ever and a really great experience. I will be moving to the area soon and cant wait for my next visit.

My girlfriend treated me to a massage here and I was very impressed. First thing to note is that the spa was incredibly clean and the ladies at the front desk were wiping things down even as I entered the building. I really liked being able to fill out my forms online so that I didnt have to do anything when I came in. I was offered water once I took a seat and everyone was really friendly. I only had to wait about 30 seconds for my massage therapist to take me back. My massage was with Maureen and she was great. She really listened to my needs when I told her my areas of pain and even apologized to me because she said I would likely be sore the next day. My job is physical labor and I really needed someone to go to work on my back. If I didnt live so far away from a Hand and Stone, I definitely would have signed up for a membership. 10/10 recommend this place.

The children financed a spa day for my moms 65th birthday. She got a massage and facial. Omg she loved it here!!!! She has bragged several times about the quality and care of both. However the facial was her favorite. We definitely would recommend it for anyone looking to relax and rejuvenate!

Asked for a call back to discuss a scam contract my wife was talked in to during a prenatal massage. Still waiting.Short story short, we are being charged and will have massage credits expire before we can use them due to us having a baby and all. Why push contracts on pregnant ladies during a pandemic that they will not be able to use with a new born? At least point out that their are strict restrictions to credit usage on the pitch/pamphlets/confirmation emails.My family has enjoyed supporting local businesses by purchasing gift cards and the like during recent times. I appreciate you (Hand and Stone CH) putting the first bad taste in my mouth about it. There are plenty of other quality massage studios to use Chapel Hill! I never take the time to leave bad reviews unless a place deserves it.Massage seekers beware.

Mark is an excellent massage therapist. He is very attuned to your needs and checks in to make sure you are enjoying your massage. As a massage therapist myself I really appreciate his work.

Kicked off the new year with a massage at Hand and Stone Massage in Meadowmont Village. As usual, the service was outstanding. I have been a member for several years now but realized how essential the monthly massage was to my wellbeing in 2020 when spas were closed in NC due to Covid. The therapists are all excellent. They listen to your needs and provide massage treatment to address your issues. Thank you for taking such great care of your members!

I have been to this location a few times now and I have to say Im realy surprised at the amount of negative comments. Then again, I work in customer service and I think the Pandemic has really brought out the worst in people. I have received a facial with Annie and she is incredible. She really takes the time to talk to me about my skin and has never been pushy with products when she recommends them to me. Ive seen several of the massage therapists and they all have different techniques but have all been great. The spa is always very clean and the ladies at the front are always very pleasant and helpful. And to any of you who hve never worked a sales job, yes these ladies are going to tell you about the membership, just let them do their job! I signed up for the membership and I have zero regrets because it saves me money on something I was going to do regularly anyway and theres NO CONTRACT! I definitely suggest trying them out and if you arent already a member you should be!

I received a gift card to here and this place is pushy. They try to push you to upgrade or add this or that. They will try to get you to sign up multiple times.It seemed very uncomfortable and not relaxing at all to be up sold items and pushed for a membership

Manager is useless and incompetent. She called my cousin on a private number a few weeks ago (probably her cell) and yelled at her about a situation involving confusion with her bill. I think her name was Crystal or Christina, (not sure but its something like that). Very unprofessional. This place is morally disgusting.

I had an 80 minute massage with Irene and she did a GREAT job! She ensured that I was relaxed and she focused on my problem areas. I decided to join and become a member (I was visiting on another members account). I am looking forward to going back in February with my sister to help celebrate our birthdays. The next time, I plan to include a facial spa with my massage. . . cant wait!!!

The salon is beautiful. It is relaxing and welcoming. The front desk clerk (white blonde hair) was such a sweetheart. She was kind, welcoming, and such a nice person. I did not have to wait long for my appointment to start, I went to see Mark for some serious neck pain I had been having. Mark was very professional and did a great job. He got my range of motion from 60 degrees to about 75-80 degrees. He gave me some suggestions to get it back to 100%. I have no complaints about Mark or the business itself. I will suggest it to my friends.

The visit was what Ive come to expect from this chain. Only problem was my face has never broken out after a facial before. Im a bit concerned. But, I dont fault the facility. Ill ask more questions to find out probable causes.

I had a 50 minute massage with Allison and it was great! The staff were super nice and explained how the process was since this was my first professional massage. Allison also explained the process and made sure I knew that I could communicate with her at any time if I was uncomfortable, to change the pressure, etc.Incredibly professional place and will 100% be going back.

Ruined a special occasion and ignored our follow-up calls.I made a reservation online for a couple’s massage for my third anniversary and got the introductory rate. It seemed low, so I called them immediately after to make sure it was the correct reservation. The person I spoke with guaranteed that it was correct and explained that the intro rate for single and couple’s massages is the same — great!I had an elaborate day planned and scheduled, and we showed up to the (surprise) massage. When we got in, I was told it was made for a single massage and they didn’t have a couple’s masseuse available; one of us could get a single massage. That kind of defeated the purpose, so we went about our day after getting contact info for the manager (Tiffany) and an apology from the front desk.I called back twice, and she never returned my calls.

Please be caution when making your appointment. When i set my appointment up and during my appointment i was told one amount but when it came to check out i was quoted a higher amount. When i left a tip the receptionist made a snared remark about how much tip i left. I will not visit this place again. i did not feel welcomed nor comfortable.

My facial was fantastic! Anna did such a good job of making me feel relaxed and safe while addressing my skin problems professionally. I usually don’t fall asleep when I have a facial because of extractions but this time was great. Skin felt fabulous afterwards and got 2 special treatments for free because of my membership points. Well worth it!

I had an amazing facial by Jamie. It was extremely relaxing. She gave me a mini shoulder massage and scalp massage. She goes the extra mile to provide excellent service. She is so knowledgeable. Ill definitely go back for another facial. The Best!!!

Disappointing.I have been to Hand and Stone Massage two times.I received a gift card for my birthday to Hand & Stone.The first time that I went I had an overly chatty masseuse and my room was really loud due to noise from pizza shop next door which shares a wall. It also bothers me that they try to up-sell you for things like a scalp massage ect. that are normally included with a 60 minute massage. I returned for a second massage only because I was told that I had a remaining balance on my gift card due to getting a first time customer discount.On my second massage, the masseuse was 15 minutes late taking me back although I was early but still ended my massage at the original time that it was supposed to end. I was then told I had no money on my gift card and had to pay full price for a massage which was 15 minutes shorter than it was supposed to be.I will not be returning to H&S. I have had massages other places which are cheaper and far better experiences. At H&S, it is all about profit. It may be worth going it you are buying the monthly membership, but otherwise, I would not suggest it.

This is such a nice spa! They make you feel comfortable from the first time you talk to them on the phone and walk in to any of the Spa services. I had a Swedish massage and it was wonderful. I also had the Peppermint scalp massage, but while it was OK, to be honest I didnt feel like it added more relaxation to the massage. I will probably choose the massage only next time or some other upgrade. I also had my eyebrows waxed and while not exactly a relaxing experience Tammy made it as painless as possible and she did a wonderful job! They also have a great membership deal so if you frequent spas often is totally wort it! I will definitely be going back :)

Worst massage of my life. Went here for a couples massage and we are both still sore and in pain. We didnt get any relief. What is the point of having people fill out the form if they arent going to focus on the areas that youre in pain. We both selected firm pressure point. Then got told that they dont do deep tissue. ONCE again whats the point of having it as an option on the form. If youre looking to relax and basic elementary touching, this is a good place for you. Its more like meditation. But if you are looking for an actual massage and pain relief then keep your money.

The spa was beautiful, when I walked in I felt relaxed. The women at the front desk offered delicious melon water and helped me fill out paperwork. The spa was very clean and soft music played. I was so happy to be able to get an appointment the day I called. However, I soon realized why after my massage started. I meet with Paul, he was polite but his hands felt like sandpaper. I wanted to end the massage earlier but didnt want to be rude.

Great place to go to spoil yourself for an hour or so. Masseuses and staff are great. Parking can be difficult depending on the time you go.

Excellent! My mother brought me here while I was in town visiting from AZ. She even gave me her best esthetician. Tabor was really great. He was very friendly and professional. I dont do a lot of skin care so I asked him to explain some things to me and recommend some products for my issues. He even wrote some things out for me. I really appreciated the kindness of all of the staff. The lobby is nice, room was comfortable and relaxing. I definitely recommend this place and Tabor in particular. Ill be back on my next visit to NC.

I love this place and use the monthly membership. Ive always received an excellent massage, and Africa provides amazing facials that made my old skin glow like a baby! I wish they would add easier account maintenance via web portal, but I was able to handle things easily in the store or via email. No complaints, easy to return cleansing items that didnt work out for me.

Worse massage of my life.

I received a most refreshing wonderful facial!I left there with my skin glowing, soft, and hydrated and I felt like I had rested a week. I was especially impressed with Chris who worked on me...she was more than fantastic! Thank you for making me feel so comfortable, considering it was my first time!

Joined the massage club a few months ago and love it. All staff is great and Nick is skilled at deep tissue work. Candice is also very good. Always feel better when I leave. Only thing is they get very busy so booking a bit in advance gets you better spots, otherwise, if you wait til a day or two before, you might find there are no spots available at all.

So I had a slot for last Thursday at 3:00 pm and when I got there I was told the person I was booked with is sick. So I reserved for Sunday at 1:15 pm. It’s Sunday at 11:00 am and I get a call that we have to reschedule you because the person is sick... which is a lie. They told me Sunday we have you booked with Jamie for Sunday so it will be fine.This place is a fraud list like concord store. I would stay away from these cheap spa’s.

I arrived 10 min early to my appointment to sign paperwork, and the receptionist was very kind and welcoming. I was very impressed upon arrival. However my massage therapist was running a little behind, and my massage did not start until 10 min after my appointment time. I understand things happen, but my massage got cut short to 50 minutes. I was really disappointed by this because I do not treat myself to massages often. My therapist also applied very light pressure after requesting for moderate to firm and spent too much time on hands/arms when I had requested more focus on my back. The membership offers a great deal and would have considered getting one if this experience had been better.

Became inconvenient for me to go to the spa location so tried to cancel my membership beginning in August 2019. I was told by the staff at the Meadowmont location that I could put a temporary hold just in case if I were to change my mind for three months and was insured that there would be no charge for that three month period. Despite this each month my credit card was charged each month. I discussed with them in person and by phone and they said it would be corrected immediately however never was. Finally I was told in January that they had had a supervisor change and should have been instructed to fill out paperwork at an earlier date however was never asked to do so. I finally went in and completed the paperwork but subsequently I was charged an additional month three days later and then an additional amount four days later.No way I can recommend this place. Total lack of knowledge of business management and customer service!

I had a fantastic massage from Diana, I asked for lots of pressure to work out muscle tension and she did not disappoint! Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. They are clearly asked to push the memberships hard to new clients, but when I declined the desk staff were very polite and didnt continue to push, which I appreciate. Im a little concerned by other reviews that state the employees dont get benefits and have poor pay, which I didnt know beforehand, so thats something Ill look into more if I want to come back here.

This was my first time at this location (I usually go to Durham), and I ended up disappointed. I didn’t get the service I’d heard about. My appointment started late because they did not check me in and were waiting for me to arrive. (I arrived 15 minutes early and gave them my name). The massage therapist was kind and told me I would still get my full time. When she worked on my back, she wasn’t using any particular technique. When she got to my legs, it felt like she was just playing with lotion on my legs. I asked her to go deeper, and she did a little bit. Then she said, you need to upgrade to deep tissue next time... I did! She said she was doing it anyway (she wasn’t). She got deeper after that. But I don’t feel like I got my full service.

Great professional staff and my massage was amazing, he really understood anatomy and how muscles and joints work together. He was able to relieve stress points I didnt even know I had, by working on parts that I didnt know carried stress. I was impressed with my masseuse and look forward to going back!

They have you come 15 minutes early to have you fill out a fairly detailed questionnaire. This really made me feel like they were going to do their very best to give me the massage I needed! I listed all of the areas I had come in for and why. I was introduced to my masseuse, all he asked was how intense I wanted him to rub. He rubbed the same part of my body for more than half of the session. Had he, or anyone one of the people working up front READ my questionnaire perhaps it would have been worth the money. I dont treat myself to things like this EVER! In fact a family member bought it for me. We even went in the day before to try to ensure I received just the right kind of treatment i.e. Stone, reflexology, Swedish...We asked if we could bring the paperwork home to fill it out, but they said that they prefer the customer do it there so they and/or the masseuse could discuss it with us personally. Ha. I am not the kind of person who is comfortable bossing people around. Sure I could have asked him to rub my trouble spots but isnt that what the all important questionnaire was for?Lastly, when we arrived, the women at the front desk said, oh youre here for your facial? Seriously, we had just talked to them the day before! Then they said please have a seat in the waiting room. We sat for a few minutes and then had to ask them for the paperwork! This experience is why I will never waste my hard earned money on a massage. My husband could have done a better job, at least he knows where I hurt!

Nick is wonderful for hot stone massage. Drew and Diana are great at deep tissue when you need all the knots worked out. Tabor & Africa give wonderful facials. Im a member and try to get a massage and facial every month.

This is a very pleasant place and the staff were excellent and welcoming on my first visit here. I had a great massage of hot stones and look forward to more. I was offered the opportunity to join the monthly club membership but in no way pressured or rushed to do so.

For my Husbands Birthday I wanted to surprise him with a couples massage, since neither of us have had a massage before- we were very excited. I booked at the Chapel Hill location. They had to reschedule our first apt due to staff sickness which was fine. Then our second reschedule needed to be rescheduled and then our third got canceled the day of, in which I decided to not reschedule. I don’t understand how they don’t have enough staff for all of our massages to be cancelled. We will not be scheduleduling any services at this location.

I felt like my massage therapist was wiping off the kitchen counters. TOTALLY surface massage.He had on headphones during the massage. Most impersonal massage I have ever had. I rested in the situation and decided just to enjoy it, despite my request for deeper massage.

I had the best massage I have ever had by Quin, and I have had a lot, at the Meadowmont Hand and Stone. The facility was clean and inviting and the staff was accommodating. I would encourage to call for an appointment and not make it on line. There are affordable add-ons that are delightful.

I think its a little offensive and inappropriate that, as you pay, before leaving, they ask you if youd like to leave a gratuity. If your credit card system wont print a bill with a tip line , get one that does. Not that I dont think the Massage Therapists should be tipped, I do. Ive never left less than $20. I just dont like to be asked point blank about it. Its not too far removed from a hostess at a restaurant asking you on your way out if youd like to leave a tip, implying that you either didnt know you should, or just didnt. I would guess that 95% of people getting a massage know to tip; most leave it in the room. Bad policy; if its really that big of a problem put a well worded sign on the wall instead of confronting your customers about it. Just rubs me the wrong way (no pun intended). Am I missing something here?Recently I booked a massage 3 weeks in advance, in person, with someone at the front desk, and when I called to confirm the time the day of the massage, they had no record of it. The quality of the massage also varies greatly depending on who you get.This place is hit or miss at best.

I had a great experience! They were very friendly and the massage felt great. I cant comment on pricing, as I had a gift card. I also wish I had known more about massage etiquette, as my masseuse was slightly more talkative than Id prefer, but I felt badly saying otherwise. Overall, though, a great place!

Every therapist I have used here is superb ! Sherayne is fabulous on multiple levels. Sharon is superb. Nick is outstanding with hot stone and overall body wellness ! This is a major part of my wellness program/lifestyle.

I sense that some of the issues with keeping customers there is the lack of transparency in charging for upgrades. When I first started there everything was transparent and the front staff and back staff let you know, so you can make an informed decision, that you are going to be charged for something if you choose it (like what happened with my facial yesterday). I havent seen the transparency in the last year and have cancelled my membership.

During my visit, my experience was amazing! The staff was very pleasant and welcoming. When I had my facial, I was given great tips on how to keep keep my face clear and moisturized. Will definitely be visiting this spa more often!

Don’t do it, they rope you into a membership, charge your card whether you have an appointment or not, the last three masseuses I had have quit working there. When I cancelled my membership over three months ago, they continued to charge my credit card and won’t refund the charges they made erroneously.Tiffany the manager on,y made the situation worse.

They offer an introductory $49.95 massage— regular rate is $89. However, I was not eligible to receive this rate because previously someone gave me a gift card for a massage — I never purchased a massage myself. This does not seem right.

Clean, great staff and free coconut water!The only downfall about the place is that they charge and extra $10 for a deep tissue massage. No other Hand and Stone has done that. Sharon is by far the best therapist there.

Ive been getting massages for the last 15 years at various locations in the US and overseas and this is the worst massage I have EVER gotten. The woman was late in coming out to the lobby and when she finally came out (10 minutes late) she rushed me into the room. It gets worse, by the end of my massage i had scratch marks on my back. She was grouchy and unfriendly. When i told her my neck hurt she said A well.

Lovely, simple and great location; a pleasant place to be. Only downside is proximity to Brixx restaurant - try and get a massage room that doesnt have a wall backing up to the restaurant or youll hear kitchen noise.

Ive tried all three of the major massage/spa chains, and I like Hand & Stone much better than Massage Envy or Massage Heights. The staff isnt pushy about upselling extras, the space is comfortable, and all my massages have been great. Shakira, one of the therapists at Hand and Stone, does the best hot stone massage Ive ever had anywhere. Definitely recommended.

My first visit was just okay. Then one client came out singing praises about Kiara. So I decided to try one more time. I am glad i did. I did not feel beat up when I left. Rather refreshed.

Bad customer service and deceptive advertising on the website. I called to buy a gift certificate and the lady on the phone was either unwilling or unable to accomodate a simple request for an hour long massage purchase. Tried to sell me some expensive package when all I wanted was 1 hour. Then the price jumped from $50 to $90. Dont waste your time, lots of other places around.

Very polite staff and excellent service with an experienced masseuse. I had the introductory 50 minute massage and it was actually the entire time, unlike some the area competitors that include the consolation and undressing in the massage time.

My masseusse, Paul, was very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I went there for pain management, back, and sciatica pain. Also, I didnt know how stressed I was until I was wasnt anymore. My musles in my back didnt feel so bunched up anymore. It was great. Definitely recommend it as a part your well being program.

Therapist was good. Admin lady tried to sell me a membership by lying to me, which is an unacceptable prelude to membership. Speciifically, when I said I needed to talk to my wife, she told me my wife was a member. So I agreed. But it turned out my wife was NOT a member.

I arrived 10 min prior to my eyebrow waxing appointment.* I had originally had an appt for an initial facial but ran into a scheduling conflict; so called and changed the appointment to a brow waxing only. Figured by calling, it would save some snafus.Snafu - appt at front desk, but either didnt confirm w staff in back or something happened. Late intake, rushed appt.*Bright light on my brows, wasnt relaxing. She rushed through the procedure like I was a burden.*Had an allergic reaction to the wax used. Not her fault, but my brows swelled up. Very red, swollen for several hours afterwards. Lots of Benadryl.*Also used a tinting gel that was waterproof, but Im allergic to waterproof cosmetics; so that didnt help.Price was decent. Packages available. Great location! Clean Place, good layout. Might give another try, as they have other services & it wasnt their fault I was allergic to the wax (It was soy based, never knew Id be allergic to that).

Really really awful service at this location, totally unprofessional and poor service. To be honest I am absolutely disgusted at the way Ive been treated at this place. From the therapists acting inappropriately to the front desk people making mistakes and trying to scam you. AVOID. F-

McNair was wonderful as always. Something amiss with the scheduling system. Ebony called the day before the appointment to say that McNair was no longer with the spa and that she needed to cancel my appointment with McNair and change it to someone else. So I did, only to find out later in the day that McNair was still working and could see me after all.
