If I could give this company ZERO stars I would. They have been nothing but terrible since I started with them. The customer service reps have misinformed me about coverage multi times when I called in to clarify on policy details. I had to end up filing a claim with the department of insurance to get them to correct their mistakes. STILL fighting with them on claims even AFTER IVE MET MY OUT OF POCKET MAX.TERRIBLE is an understatement.

I cancelled my insurance in February and ended autopayments. Then they started mailing me bills. Then I tried again in May. They said it was cancelled. I am still receiving bills that are piling up to over $1200. The bills will not stop coming and they will not leave me alone. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau twice. They will not stop billing me after cancellation.

I am so disappointed in Health Alliance and their lack of consideration to approve Lutathera (PRRT) radiation therapy for my sister who is fighting neuroendocrine cancer. Her doctor, who specializes in this rare form of cancer at Barnes in St Louis, has recommended this as her next step of treatment and yet Health Alliance is denying the treatment for her.One reason they stated is because research has not shown that the treatment would improve her outcome. Really? Do you realize how upsetting it is for her to read the reason you gave to her? If the treatment can extend her life, how can that not be improving her outcome? How sad is it that Health Alliance has the power to make life and death decisions without all the medical knowledge needed to make those decisions. Barnes has appealed your denial and in less than 24 hours you have denied it again? Obviously, you dont really care and she is just a number to you.As a result, not only does she have to worry about her children and husband, she is now faced with a decision if she wants to move forward, being faced with a $50,000 fee per treatment or $200,000 for the four cycle treatment. I dont know about you, but most people do not have that kind of money to pay out of their pocket. I always thought that is why we have insurance.I guess we now we know why Health Alliance is known to be very difficult to work with for tertiary providers. I can only hope you will reach out to me for more information and give reconsideration to her treatment. She has such a rare form of cancer, I would think you would want the specialists at Barnes to provide this treatment plan to not only help her but potentially help others that have the same diagnosis. Shouldnt we all be working towards the same goal for finding a cure?

Unfortunately, they are bottom line motivated and not customer motivated. I made a human error entering my banking info for payment and they charged me $25 instead of kindly telling me I made the mistake. Customer service followed up with a call to tell me the situation was investigated and they were not willing to waive the fee. I should have been more careful and double checked me work - their words. Horrible strategy for a company to lack empathy during a pandemic when people are out of work (I have personally been off work since the end of March 2020).

I normally do not go public with my issues with companies, but I am this time in desperation to get a response and a solution. I called Health Alliance the first week of January because my son’s new policy for 2018 was the wrong amount (overcharged). They apologized, saw the mistake, and told me it would be corrected in February and a reimbursement adjustment as well. I was happy with that solution until February came and the payment amount was deducted once again of too much, and no refund came. I called again the first week of February. I was told at that point she would need to look into it and she would get back to me. I waited over a week, and decided to call back. I was then told that it was being passed on to be investigated and I should receive a call the next day. With still no response, I called back once again on February 20, and had to leave a message. I received a call back the next evening From Janet telling me it was being passed onto Holly and I would receive a call on February 22. It is now February 27 and I feel I have been more than patient with them. That is why I am reaching out in this way, hoping this gets noticed and addressed.

Here is a brief summary of my experience with Health Alliance. I believe in fairness. I believe in justice. These are two qualities that Health Alliance is diametrically opposed to. They operate under the idea of continuing to charge customers after the customer has left their company. I had new health insurance as of January 2019. My premium with Health Alliance was $55 a month. Then in January when we dropped their company for a new one we received a bill from them for $150. Now essentially holding a gun to our head they are threatening to take us to collections even though we ceased our contract with them before they even charged us. They want to destroy our good credit. We have worked so hard to build up good credit. I know you should not negotiate with terrorists but now I understand why governments are forced to do it. Please I beseech you, if you are a potential customer, please dont do it. If you love justice. If you love fairness then take a stand against corruption. Let us unite against Health Alliance. Let us not rest until every vestige of their corrupt disgusting practices have been exposed and they have met with swift justice. If Health Alliance would contact me and help me with this issue I would completely change my view of them.

My mother had a major surgery in November and today received the bill for her portion. Its larger than her remaining deductible and without a 24/7 service line, its clear Health Alliance has refused to recognize that it services the Champaign-Urbana METROPOLITAN area. If the hospitals are 24/7, and my car insurance is 24/7, why is my mothers health insurance NOT? I am extremely disappointed Health Alliance continues to refuse modernization and being HELPFUL to its clients. Youd think if you were running a medical business, youd be decent and allow customer calls all manner of the day. But nah, if the people using Health Alliance work until 6PM, Health Alliance just says screw them.Nothing like intentionally frustrating and failing to provide accommodating services.

I had a heart transplant with Blue Cross. I was worried about switching insurances because I need my transplant doctors. I called Health Alliance on two separate occasions by phone and once in person to make sure my doctors would be covered. I would not accept my new job if they werent. I have them the name of my doctor and the hospital I get treated through. They assured me with my 14 year history with my doctors it would be no problem getting them approved with a referral from a local doctor.Fast forward two months later they are still refusing to cover my doctors in network, forcing me to pay out of network prices to see them, or I can switch to a doctor they have a contract with. I am having to call lawyers. They lied to me to get me to switch to them, and are refusing to give me the health care I require.Get Blue Cross Blue Shield. Avoid Health Alliance at all cost. They may cover basic care in central Illinois, but if you have anything worse anything outside of the area you wont be covered.

Had Health Alliance for over 30 years, since it was Carle Care. Never had a problem, ever. Im fairly certain most of the reviews whining about things dont understand insurance. People buying the cheapest plans they can get is understandable, but they need to also understand the details of the plan they have chosen. Also, Ive seen that Health Alliance actually covers MORE than their competitors in many situations, and in some instances that accounts for a slightly higher premium. They do need help on their communications in many ways, but the plan itself is fine. Lots of the changes in recent years, including cost, are due to government regulations, not the companys choice.

I had no problems getting my scans, surgeries, or procedures approved, other than the last scan being approved the day after it was scheduled. My wifes coverage was dropped without ample notice in July, due to my credit card being changed. I was told by an employee of the company to pay June and Julys bill, despite the cancellation being effective 7/1. I did so under the impression that she would be reinstated, but she was not. Since I will be fined for her not having coverage and it not being an open enrollment, she might not be able to get insured until 2017, so were in a tough pickle. Ive voiced these concerns to HA, but the company could care less and one employee claimed that because of being dropped, she wont be allowed to get coverage from them in the future (while yesterday, someone else told me that she may still be able to get temporary coverage that would allow her insurance while I continue to be fined - another example of their doublespeak). Oh, and did I mention that they dropped her due to the payment exceeding a 30-day grace period, but I paid the bill more than 30-days ago and still havent gotten my refund? That tells me that they will officially hold their customers to a higher payment standard than they allow themselves. If you are choosing between insurance providers, the other choice is probably the better one. If you do end up having to go with Health Alliance and your credit card gets changed-drop everything that you are doing immediately, do not pause to breathe, and get it updated with them right away.EDIT - In response to the owners message, that is fine that there is a timeline imposed by the marketplace. But where was my notice of nonpayment for June and/ or a notice of pending cancellation? In regards to calling a supervisor to clarify my options, I am a bit incredulous. I have made multiple calls in the past month, including to a supervisor yesterday that attempted to clarify my options. Sounds like my two options are to open a HICS case, which I intend to do, or to buy temporary insurance and continue to be fined. If there are other options available, that would contradict what was discussed in yesterdays conversation, though that wouldnt be the first time that your workers have contradicted themselves.

We were approved for the surgery in two weeks. We have never had a single issue with the auto pay, so I am a little surprised at the issues other are having. This company is very quick to take your money, but if youre just a little late with your payment, they drop your coverage. My Internet company tries harder! Their payment system has changed several times and I used to have problems with AutoPay because they insisted they had the wrong credit card information (my credit card hasnt changed in years, other than the expiration date -- and that wasnt even the issue as far as Health Alliance is concerned). Health Alliance will not email you if your payment is missing, they will not call you - they will just drop you and they do NOT care. She kept on saying our insurance policy dont cover the claim. We knew she was wrong and we kept on insisting are you sure. And after long search, she found it and said Yes Yes you are right. Then 1 month passed and nothing happened. We went back again, same lady came back and she said they again filed it under wrong member ID. Her solution was I will submit again. I said what will you do differently then before to make sure it doesnt happen. And she said nothing. All I can do is submit the request. That was her solution, I can only submit. So she was saying it can happen again again and again. And she cannot do anything about it. And as expected it again got filed under wrong member ID. Long story short I moved to a new address and started a new policy Jan 1st 2017. I received my bill for January at my new address and paid it without issue. However, I did not receive a 2nd bill for the moth of Febuary, which went unnoticed by myself. I was informed in the month of March that a bill from Health Alliance had shown up at my previous address, the payment amount was double my normal premium so I assumed the bill must be for the month of February and March so I paid it and went on about my life. My bill for April was also sent to my previous address and again, I went out of my way to retrieve and pay it.In May I went to the clinic for an office visit and when I presented my insurance card I was informed that the policy had been cancelled in Febuary. I then spent the next 2 days and approximately 6hrs on the phone being treated like an animal by customer service and being told that my policy would not be reinstated due to the fact I had missed the 30 day grace period for paying the bill for the month of February, which was sent to the wrong address. They repeatedly told me that it is my problem to know when my bills are due and that it was my fault that my policy was cancelled, regardless of if they were sending my bill to the right address or not. After 4 different reps told my my policy absolutely could not and would not be reinstated due to Marketplace guidelines I finally got through to someone who would listen to my case. I then had to take the morning off from work and drive to their offices and present them with my bills that were sent to the wrong address. He begrudgingly reinstated my policy and reiterated the whole its your responsibility to know when your bills are due thing that they like to say.So essentially I spent a ton of time and went through an emotional roller coaster to get my rip off of a policy reinstated. Ill never understand why the first 4 customer service reps told me my policy could not be reinstated. Ill also never understand how they get these people to fight for a faceless, multi million dollar insurance company. I hope theyre making 6 figures.

One of the other three, I got filled last month for approx. $38, went to pick up today, and it was $124.05. Asked why so high, and he told me I had a deductible...this is a generic drug. Really??? Their provider website has incorrect info, doesnt sort properly by area, or specialty, and they drop providers by time you can get an appointment time. They make it very difficult to obtain necessary pre-authorizations by not sending the necessary paperwork to the appropriate people. They take MONTHS to process appeals. Overall, they partner with inadequate, undertrained facilities and make the process of getting quality care so stressful that it is detrimental to a patients recovery.

Now Im afraid they wont authorize my ultrasound to do the injections for my trigger points in my neck. I trigger points in my scalene muscles & sternocleidomastoid muscle. Back in 2009 I got hurt at work & never got the proper treatment & over the years the pain got worse. Now as soon as I get the injections I will be pain free & August 16th will be 4 yrs that I have been living in pain. My social life is nonexistence due to the pain. I dont fall asleep till my body gives into pure exhaustion. And now I have to have a hysterectomy due to adenocarcinoma in situ which the highest stage of precancer. I had it cut out last October with clear margins but cant seem to get a clear pap. Keeps coming back as atypical glandular cells. So my only option left is hysterectomy. For people that dont know adenocarcinoma in situ is a rare form of cancer. Only 5 to 9% of women get it & I fell in that percentage. It is also invasive if not caught early & we caught it at stage 0. So tell me you going to deny me of my hysterectomy. All I want is my life back! I wouldnt wish this pain on my worst enemy not even the devil.

I would absolutely NOT recommend this insurance company. There customer service is not knowledgeable at all. I have called several time to verify information and I get a new answer with each person that I talk to. There are not helpful in the least bit one due to the lack of knowledge and 2 the lack of caring......your job is customer service there the ones that are suppose to know and care/help.

I have had Health Alliance (HA) for several years. I agree on two things. First, they have pleasant customer service personnel (however even they seem frustrated by the behind the scenes bureaucracy) and Second, HA seems to be good for very basic, routine, care even though admittedly I did not need to use their services that much in the past. The problem seems to arise when you or your loved one, God forbid, experiences something more medically complex. After that, the denial of referrals, the endless delays in review and pre-authorization, the blame game (doctors fault, ACA, CMS, etc…) puts undue stress on the patient during their time of need.Although I can cite many examples, I will give just a few: First, my loved one was scheduled for an MRI, which took 15 business days to authorize even though the doctor said this could be serious and should be completed as soon as possible. The customer service rep told me that the doctor should have marked it urgent (even then it is second guessed) and the HA Nurse who critiques the doctors order needed more information which delayed the process. In another situation an in-network neurologist referred to a specialist outside of network and it was denied. The neurologist said basically you were not sick enough to warrant it,”, according to HA. Appeal denied. Disgusting! In yet another case a different in-network provider prescribed an antibiotic which was denied by HA, and the doctor had to scrounge samples to prescribe because no other antibiotic would work. There are no recourse from problems such as these as they have already been discussed with HA ad nauseum and their circular logic never really solves the problem just points the blame in different directions. Bottom line, even though you are a paying customer, you are a number, not person, and the compassionate care espoused by customer service is not backed up behind the scenes. My co-workers said this is what is expected now-a-days, and the doctors say it wastes a lot of time. I was hoping for more. Paying customers do deserve better. Often I wonder if the confusion is intentionally built into the system to discourage use. Anyway, I will switch companies soon.

Walgreens in Danville was not prepared for the volume of prescription transfers from Walmart. I waited today for 61 minutes to transfer a prescription. over an hour and a half to pick up an antibiotic. Very poor planning on Health Alliancrypla.half for a

My husband is a United States Veteran, he works for the military as a government employee and they just raised his insurance by 40%. For just a single person, he pays almost $300 a month for a single person !!! they are only out for money and not the young families they insure. We are switching insurance as soon as we can.

Had a horrible experience filing a claim. First time I got the member id wrong, so the reimbursement was rejected. After that, I sent the same claim 3 times with the right member id, but they all got rejected for the same reason. Now its almost half year passed the service date, and I still didnt get my money reimbursed.
