The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because there was only one clerk doing both check in and out. The line got quite long. She kept her cool and kept the line moving as quickly as she could.

My Mother was recently admitted via the emergency room to CCU and had surgery. The staff is competent and genuinely caring. Everyone from housekeeping to the physicians took time to answer questions for my family and gave excellent service. All employees we encountered were knowledgeable and efficient in their departments. Being a retired medical services professional, I know what to look for and this facility deserves top JCAHO ratings.

I delivered at this hospital in 2014 and I am set up to deliver here again next week actually. I wanted to write a review because Ive heard a lot of negative and wanted to share that this hospital isnt terrible. I was induced and I had a normal induction. My doctor Malloy not sure how you spell it. But she was great as well as the nurses helping out. If you have high expectations thinking you are going to get fancy room service or people bending over backwards to do anything and everything I would say look elsewhere or lower you expectations. Its an average hospital with some very kind employees.

Ri
Review №20

My doctor recommended this hospital and I had no idea it would be such a horrible experience. I went in for a fairly standard procedure that Anthems website estimated would cost between $300-1500 max and Chambersburg Hospital charged over $2500. Somehow this hospital deems it reasonable to charge nearly twice as much as was estimated by an insurance company. This hospital has fallen under the illness of many other industries in this company and will do anything possible to wring as much profit out of patients as possible. I dont believe I met a single person there who viewed patients as anything but wallets with legs. Avoid.

Easily one of the worst experiences Ive had at a hospital ER. The physicians assistant I saw, Josephine Wisner, was rude and uncaring. Doctors are strained and most are interns that read a book with out common sense to care for patients, most of the time things are google or they say its anxiety. Here take this pill so we can call you an addict. Treated poor because of state health insirance, Be strong poverty.

Every time I have been in the facility (especially ER), the rooms have been disgusting. Blood spots or some type of red fluid on the floors, stained sheets. Doesnt seem to be a top priority to sanitize and make sure the rooms are safe after one patient has left. The staff seems to be on their own time, no urgency for patients needs or requests. Attitude of most staff is rude, and belittling.

I had heard negative things about this hospital when we moved here but I can only judge on our personal experiences. Ive been in more modern, updated looking hospitals, but when I had an ER visit two years ago, they got me back into a room rather quickly. I was severely dehydrated and they put fluids in me and treated my severe migraine and we went home. I cant honestly say anything negative about that experience. My husband just had his knee replaced in January - in our research, we found out that the best surgeons around work out of that hospital. The other knee 8 years ago required a hospital stay, but they wanted to send him home that evening if there were no complications. He was admitted into a room on a floor for Out Patient recovery. It was private like a normal hospital room. It was a few hours, but the nurses were kind and even recommended that I run out quickly to get his prescriptions filled before the Pharmacies closed, and I made it in the nick of time. You pick the patience up at the back entrance after hours. Really, everything went smoothly. Depending on what circumstances might lead you here (heart, cancer, back surgery, etc.) I would definitely do my homework. Not every specialty has great reviews for this location. But both of our experiences were positive. I would have even given 5 stars if the rooms were more updated and modern, but Chambersburg is a small town. If you need knee surgery, thumbs up!Look into the practice with Dr. Day, Dr. Lutton, and Dr. Richardson. They are known as top in their field within a two hour radius. Great practice, and they work out of Chambersburg Hospital.

Theyre friendly and surprisingly fast ER department. My only dislike is when I took my infant daughter there. Ftm, she got a fever and I didnt know what to do, so took her to the emergency room. She was under 3 months old and they kept putting her through so much pain to put a cather in, to dismiss a possible uti all because they got a improper bag example. I really hated it, I couldnt keep watching them put her through so much especially when it turned out she had nothing more than a cold. I regret taking her there all the time. Ftm mistake, will never happen again.

Between myself and my wife & my mother Ive been their too many times to count. Many rude staff members though that just reflects most people in the town. Slow service the average time for an ER visit is 5 hours with about an hour wait per 5 minutes of doctor time.Poorly cleaned rooms many times their has been food and other trash on the floor both in er rooms and private rooms as well as an all over dingy and grimy look to the place. On last visit my pregnant wife requested a cup of water and something for her heartburn when we arrived the nurse said sure thing three hours later when we finally get checked up on were working on it so after 6 hours of waiting for my wife to be admitted I head home her still without a drink nor tums. No not even during a busy time between 11:30pm-5:30am no one could be bothered.

Just about killed my relative....they do not do regular nursing assessments on floor 2 which is nursing 101. Had an error in surgery and caused more damage then they helped which caused Many other complications. Didnt catch or monitor for complications which were many. Nursing on that floor was poor. Infection control policy implementation is extremely lacking. Had to go to Hershey who corrected Summits poor care. Dont go to this po-dunk hospital if you want you/relatives to survive minor health problems. Drive to HBG area and go ANYWHERE else. There are many state/federal citations that need addressed. Cms will be doing alot of writing citations when they do a survey.

I have had a lot of experience with Chambersburg Hospital. I gave birth to 2 kids there and several trips to the ER. My most recent on July 24th 2015, i came in for my son having foot pain. Immediately the ER doctor ordered several labs. Turns out, he has leukemia. I feel that some doctors would not have immediately done this, rather generalized it as foot pain and maybe offered pain killers and then had us take him to his pediatrician. I wish I could remember the doctors name because he needs to be recognized. this illness was caught immediately by him and treatment began right away at Hershey Childrens hospital, which is AMAZING. Otherwise, it may have been another week or so before I could have gotten him in to see his pediatrician, prolonging his pain and possibly making his blood counts a lot worse. Kudos to this doctor. I am grateful.

When we arrived the staff member by the name of Sharon registered us and was unprofessional and rude during the entire process. I have a lot of experience in the medical field due to working atogether a hospital and have never encountered a registrar so rude to the public, maybe a doctor but never a registrar. IIII went into the ER last night with intense shoulder pain due to a pinched nerve. I had the rudest nurse Ive ever experienced in my entire life. The doctor that originally check me out must have left while I was there and the next time I saw a doctor was when they were checking me out basically telling me theres nothing wrong with me. Ive spent my entire visit bawling my eyes out from how much pain I was in and tell him the nurses I was in the worst pain Ive ever experienced. The nurse gave me absolutely no information was very rude and direct and had absolutely no bedside manner whatsoever. I asked to see the doctor before I left and he basically came in and said my MRI didnt show anything so I was fine and I needed to leave. All this happening while Im sitting there bawling my eyes out saying what am I supposed to do tonight because of all the pain Im in and they said well get your medications filled tomorrow and thats all we can do. Luckily I had some meds on hand from an old injury and was able to take those and I happen to have some muscle relaxers left from a previous injury as well. I went to a friends house whos a nurse at 11 oclock at night and she looked at my shoulder and could not believe they had let me leave in that condition I spent the next two hours laying on her couch crying my eyes out from how much pain I was in until I finally passed out from the muscle relaxers. Its now the next day and almost as much pain as I was in yesterday. So thanks for nothing Chambersburg hospital.
