When I saw that my ex-therapist, Cynthia K. Hodge, LCSW joined this practice, I felt compelled to write a review I hope others find helpful. I started seeing her at Pathways Counseling Services in Chambersburg, PA several years ago having no choice myself what therapist I wanted to work with because this therapist was chosen by the office, NOT by me.Being a very perceptive person, the entire time I was seeing Cynthia I suspected, knew she was looking for an exusce to drop me as a client. When I explained to her I didnt think my therapy was being helpful, what do you think she did? She dropped me as a client.A professional therapist would have seen me one last time to tie things up professionally by: talking over issues I felt, resolve them if the concerns could be addressed further in therapy, if not, give support to move on to another therapist. None of this was done by Cynthia as I was told to go elsewhere.Of course when she expressed to me: dont ever call me unless its an emergency: you cant make it to an appointment. When I was feeling very sad and in need of just little talk, I knew Cynthia would holler at me, being totally unhelpful.I understand therapists have their lives too and cant be there for you 24/7. However working with people suffering from mental illness, the therapeutic professional has to be attentive, empathetic, understand and be helpful, during those extra times of crisis for the client. Cynthia provided NO support to me whatsoever during my crisis times.I would suggest that unless youre looking for a by the book therapist who shows no feeling, dont go to Cynthia. She will look for the best time to dump you, most likely when you need the attentive ear of an understanding therapist....
