I almost want to give this one star so I can continue finding treasures here without competition.Whether youre building new, remodeling, or looking for something small to change your space, youre bound to find something great! Theres lots of new items every time I visit (which has been frequently, as we build a new house), and we are very happy with the paint (recycled!). I found there was a slight difference between colors labeled the same, but with different lot numbers, but thats on me. Ive only experienced great customer service!

Excellent alternative to the traditionally oversold and overpriced items. Doors solid/hollow wood doors all shapes and sizes. From lighting to tools never a mass produced item unless its boxes of wood/tile flooring. 👍👍. Half off lighting with pink sticker today..

We designed our kitchen with Rachel in the design center. She was professional, punctual, and had attention to detail. This was very important to us, as we were the general contractors for our home build. It was also nice that she communicated with us via email to expedite the design process and minimize driving to ReStore. Prices were VERY affordable, and the quality is above par.

This is my third Restore to shop at, and its been really interesting to see how each has its own unique flavor and niche. They definitely arent all the same! Personally, my favorite is the Quad Cities for breadth of offerings and space. The strengths this one offers is a pretty large variety of new area rugs, new flooring options and a kitchen and bath design area including various current cupboard/vanity offerings. They also usually have some new appliances along with some used. They also seem to get a nice selection of used furniture and usually have a variety of new and used lighting options at good prices. If youre remodeling on a budget, flipping houses, or just have some repairs to make, its a great place to check out! While hit or miss, you never know when theyll have just what you need at a great price!

Such a great experience! I stopped into the Restore on 6th Avenue the other day, and having been to a few H4H Restores across the US, I was just surprised and so impressed with the layout and the organization of this particular store. I just had to stop a volunteer there and tell them that it is quite obvious how hard everyone works to keep the store organized and looking retail ready. Many resale shops, even in their best efforts, tend toward disorganized piles in unmarked aisles that a shopper must wander through and sift through to find anything they are looking for, and while this is still a commendable effort by community volunteers, this particular store showed an exemplary degree of effort from their volunteers. I felt, as a donor, that they provide the community a place to shop with organized aisles and clearly marked items neatly displayed, and this must give shoppers of all incomes a sense of dignity, not having to sift through piles of discards. Clearly, this reflects the intentions and concerted efforts of the volunteers at the Cedar Valley H4H Restore as they provide a clean, organized, and friendly environment for the Cedar Rapids community to shop and create their home. Thank you so much for all of your efforts - it has been noticed and is greatly appreciated! :)

We have been to numerous antique and 2nd hand stores the Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity is OUR store. They always have plenty of stuff, have great sales and even better volunteers that are very helpful and knowledgeable . We have brand new huge area rugs in our 110 year old home that the manager helped us pick out, I get so many compliments on them. I cant say enough about them. They will be helping us do our brand new kitchen cabinets too, I have total trust that I wont want to leave my kitchen when completed. Thank you for being there.

One of my favourite places to shop- I never come out empty handed- usually a cartfull! Most items are priced fairly, but like any business of this type, you have to evaluate each purchase as to its value to yourself. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Wonderful place to find inexpensive items for home repair or items that you did not even realize you needed. A great place to donate almost any item from your home that you are updating. I recently took the an old dresser there and got new plates for my bedroom plug ins for 10 cents a piece. All proceeds go to Habitat to Humanity and anything you buy is tax deductable. It is a great place to get new paint brushes and light bulbs. Check it out there is always new stuff coming in and if you want to get rid of anything try there first, I havent had them say not to anything yet.

As a fixer of many house repairs, finding older stuff can be a challenge in the newer stores but this store is always Rocking it with the things I need. I cant walk out of there without buying something!! And the staff are always awesome being knowledgeable and friendly!! Just wish they were open later!!

Review №38

Great source for used tools and building materials. If youre looking for something specific, you probably wont find it on your first visit, but its a great store to stop by regularly and just see what they have. For example, I was looking for a new light fixture to replace a hideous chandelier in my dining room. It was probably on the third or fourth trip when I finally found a new light fixture I liked. In the meantime, I ended up with a hacksaw, a square and shelf brackets for some garage storage, all of which cost a dollar each.

Fa
Review №43

VERY hit and miss in this store. You can find some real gems if you go there regularly, but it is very easy to be put off by the outrageously priced merchandise. They used to be competitive with what you would pay at Menards / Lowes. I even overheard one of the managers saying that they had raised prices to nearly what items cost retail / new in an effort to raise more money for the charity. Unfortunately, this is a pretty backward philosophy. The Iowa City store and its management are much more reasonable about pricing and what the goals of a charity such as Habitat for Humanity should be.

Great place to find random and discontinued building supplies. Once in awhile the prices can be inconsistent (example - nuts, bolts, screws, ect.) or marked excessively high (example - a dresser with drawers that dont work and paint spilled on it for a $100.00?). So I end on a positive note, the employees have always been friendly and helpful.

If youre on a mission to find a particular type of item, call ahead: The staff here is wonderful about checking to see if they have any available before you leave your house.I find it best to shop here when I have several general goals but nothing super specific. That way I can be open to all the options available. My latest success with this tactic: I needed storage for my gardening tools and was thinking of metal shelves. However, since I was open to any kind of storage, I found a great little cabinet with doors that was not only cheaper than metal shelves but also tidier. Also, when it comes to donations: If you have something a little outside the box, call ahead and see if theyll accept it. If they do, yay; if they dont, you havent wasted time and effort schlepping it over there only to have them decline to take it.
