I gave this office 1 star because at the very least the reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. I met with Joel Crockett regarding a hair loss issue I’m experiencing. I left my appointment feeling embarrassed and degraded. I never pull the race card but I felt that because I was a black woman he completely dismissed my issue as soon as he walked in the door. He barely greeted me, he didn’t ask any questions or ask my concerns at all. He looked at the problem and said pretty much said here, take this and dismissed me. He saw me for under 5 min and half of that time he was on the phone and claimed to be looking something up. He prescribed a steroid to me and told me to see the desk for a follow up appointment. He didn’t say when, just here try this and let me know how it works. The office was kind of small so when standing there looking and feeling stupid trying to schedule a follow up appointment, I questioned if I wanted to request another doctor or not even come back at all, but please know I will NEVER come back here. I’ve never felt so degraded in my life. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, you are better off going on google to figure it out yourself.

Dr. Joel Crockett, MD is a fantastic. I never felt any pain or bruised with any of his treatments or procedures. I was always happy with my results. Unfortunately I moved to Texas, I have been to two different locations, cost is the same as California but the service, pain, and bruising is really bad. Im seriously considering flying to California to see Dr. Crockett the next time I need a treatment or procedure, Ive discovered and realized how good he is.

Very efficient and friendly. Always grateful for good timekeeping though we understand there can be emergencies. We caused one once which made us realize these things can happen.

Great Service!!! Friendly folks answered the phone & squeezed my Mum in for an appointment the very next day!!! This was in regard to a Terrible Rash, getting Worse, not better, that would have been postponed for Weeks with Kaiser!!! When Kaiser Dropped the Ball we were so Glad to find a Reasonable Private Pay Dermatologist!!! Joel Crocket was Awesome!!! Well probably return for some follow up appointments!!!

Excellent service from Dermatologist Dr Joel Crockett. I had many dark bumps, skin tags, and discolorations on my neck and chest. My appointment was just 3 days ago (09/02/2021) and my skin is healing nicely. I will be able to wear my low cut blouses again. Thank you so much. 😊

I didn’t receive the time and thoroughness I expect from a doctor. I estimate the doctor spent 45 seconds in the room with me for a full body skin check, with a history of non-melanoma skin cancer. Probably the right doctor for some people, but I made a follow up with a different practice for a thorough check

Excellent experience in the office with the staff and the doctor. However, one of my prescriptions didnt make it to the pharmacy. After leaving three messages and waiting three days I still havent heard back about getting it filled. Again, wonderful in-office experience but definitely lacking in follow-ups. I hope I dont really need that medication!

Dr. Crockett and his staff are top notch and I always appreciate that they are timely and efficient. Dr. Crockett took care of a very stubborn wart my daughter’s previous dermatologist charged us a fortune for and, after repeated visits, never removed. Dr. Crockett took care of it and we never had to revisit the issue again. I appreciate someone who respects my time and is able to solve the problem in minimal appointments. Dr Crockett is very personable and professional. Assistant Luz was super helpful and accommodating. The facilities were sparkling and the air conditioning was perfect-not blasting. My wait in the group waiting room was short and once in the exam room I waited only a few minutes for the Dr. Id say my experience at CSI was very positive. Lutrecia Koffi.

Dr. Crockett and California Skin Institute are a great one stop shop for all your skin needs. The entire staff is well trained and professional and really aim to please. I definitely recommend them to anyone needing dermatology.

In and out within a few mins. I was referred by my primary care physician. Dr. Wapen did a visual inspection of a mole on my ear and confirmed it was benign. As side from that, the staff was great and it was very easy to schedule an appointment. I will return for any future skin appointments.

I would not recommend this place. I am a new patient and everything felt so rushed when I saw the dermatologist today. The entire session lasted shorter than 3 minutes. I am not sure why this dermatologist was so rushed but I would not recommend anyone to go here if you want someone who’s patience and detail oriented.

We were tired of waiting for a referral from our pediatrician and was referred to CA Skin Institute by a neighbor. We were pleased to get an appointment within days of that recommendation. From check in through exit was seamlessly easy. Our visit was with Elena (sorry if I mispelled) the PA. She is absolutely fabulous. She considered all angles of our sons needs and then gave us a couple of treatment plans to consider. We are extremely pleased with outcome of our visit.

This place was an absolute NIGHTMARE. I saw Dr. Wapen and I am very disappointed with the service. She always seemed to be in a hurry and very dismissive, and talked over me every time I tried to ask a question. I had to start a program for accutane that required a monthly visit and release for my prescription. To give you a bit more info about how this program works, basically after every visit the doctor needs to go online and allow me access to answer some questions and then they need to release the prescription. With this place I had to always be the one to try and reach them in order to ask them to grant me access to do my part and release my prescription. Dont even get me started on how hard it is to reach anyone at this office. Every time you call it goes straight to their voice mail and if youre lucky youll hear back in about two days. I gave them another chance the following month just to give them the benefit of the doubt. Next month rolls around and I go in for my visit and see Dr. Wapen for maybe 5 min max where again she made me feel like I was bothering her. And you guessed it I had to call them again couple days after my visit and ask them to do their part so I can get my prescription in time. After this month I had to leave. This place does not care about its patients, has HORRIBLE communication, and nobody here seems to know how to do their job. I have never written a review for any place because I just dont care that much, BUT this place was a complete nightmare and I have to warn other possible patients.

After much research I ended up going to California skin institute. To schedule with them was very fast compare to other places. the DR was friendly and extremely professional! I removed a mole from my face and for years I was afraid that it will leave me a huge scar, but after 2 months I can barely see anything!! I’m so happy. Thank you 🙏🏽

Paid $200 for some inexperienced dr.to tell me something I seen on Google a night before, in less than 3 min I was out of there no lie. Didnt even give me the time of day.

I love this cozy but full service shop. I go for the facials with Christina who is delightfully pleasant and friendly. She does a relaxing and high class facial. I look much younger, brighter, and even thinner and richer for many days after! The front desk ladies are always friendly, professional, do scheduling perfectly and send reminders via text. Big parking lot with plenty of space too. Near the mall if shopping is needed!

Asked for first appointment of the day made sure they knew I’m immune compromised. Came in receptionists mask was under her chin. She put it on for temperature check. Put it right back under her nose. I was really uncomfortable and worried. I look up, mask off again. We are in the same room. I leave citing that I am worried, she says is making a phone call, apparently she can’t do that while wearing a mask?Here is the thing, masks especially in a doctors office should be worn. The staff should do everything they can to make patients feel safe. I had stated that I am high risk. I am visibly disabled. She should have worn a mask at least for the entire time we were sharing a room.I can only speak to this interaction but there were doctors walking around who did not tell her to put a mask on. If you have concerns about CoVid I would recommend finding a place that shows in their actions they are concerned as well. On the phone they outlined masks worn all the time in the office, hand washing, and distancing. Obviously the mask issue was not followed I did not stay long enough to find out about the rest.

The doctors take really good care of you. And its really fast unlike other hospital or clinic, once you get in the exam room, the doctor attends you fairly quick within few mins. Very impressed!

I went in today to have them look at a small mole on my left shoulder, my doctor felt I should have removed. I was lucky to get an appointment, as someone had canceled. I saw Dr. Crockett, he was very nice, personable and had great bedside manners.He looked at the mole, wasnt very concerned about it, but took it off, just to be sure it wasnt cancerous.All of the front office staff were nice and Luz his assistant, was very nice as well. Id definitely recommend this office. There was a lot of foot traffic, which says a lot, in my book :-)!

Went for my third annual exam and must say the doctor has been pleasant albeit a bit quick in his exam unless he can truly tell in two minutes I don’t have skin issues. The assistants/nurses on the other hand are less engaging and appear annoyed or try to move patients in and out as fast as possible. They aren’t rude per se, but provide limited guidance and little expression or compassion when interacting with me. For example, when the doctor finished his exam and left the room, the nurse left with him, saying nothing more than “your done.” I was not informed how or when to schedule a follow-up even though recommended by the doctor.

They are very detailed in having me use an iPad to give my medical history. The doctor answered all my questions. The front desk people were helpful with questions I had.

Even though the staff is very business like they are also attentive to your needs and make sure you are comfortable. Dr Cabral is an excellent surgeon and keeps you informed as to what he is doing. I felt comfortable with him and his demeanor.

Most of my visits here have been for minor moles and small skin cancers. Last fall I had an extreme life-altering rash and itch that Dr Crocket correctly diagnosed and put me on the road to recovery. Visits have always quick and easy, so glad I found this place.

Dr. Joel is the best. I always have the best experience. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and always takes his time. My skin has never looked better.

Glad to state I had my medical issues resolved, although I strongly believe this institute could benefit from an in-service for all staff working with patients. The atmosphere and patient interaction is not warm, and in fact I did not look forward to interacting with the front desk or assistants most of the time, as they did not seem to care for the patients. Perhaps this institute could review their mission statement and values and recommit their unwavering commitment to excellence in patient care.
