I cant say enough good about Cantril House. My elderly father moved here from his long time home in Illinois 4 years ago. He found incredible friendships with the other residents and Cantrils amazing staff. They truly were his second family. along with mine. Dad would have never agreed to go to a big, fancy assisted living facility. Everyone knew each other and always welcomed new residents to make them feel at home. We attended many fun get togethers during the holidays and Saturday cookouts with family, friends and even the great neighbors. The care staff was there for Dad up until the end always involved with him and his hospice team. I love the staff (does change at times) know that your loved ones are their #1 concern.

My mother has been a resident of Cantril House for a year and a half. When looking for her next and last home we toured together nurmerous facilities. Some very large and very fancy looking, some in between and closer to family and then she saw Cantril House. She chose this house because it is like a home not a buisness. She could get around on her own but help was always available if needed. A gorgeous outside patio that she can easily access without assistance. The singing cook at that time was a big plus for her! With only 10-12 residents residing there at a time, friendships were formed easily and staff names remebered. There are alwasy staff changes in these type of facilities. It can be draining work some days. But she has seen the same faces for a long time which offers her comfort and security. Management supports their staff and desires to advance within the organization hence they tend to stay within the organization. Staff is always gracious and kind to the residents and responsive to their needs, likes and dislikes. I think the most telling moment was the day she said to me. If I do not make it to a meal someone notices and checks on me. In some of the larger facilities she was afraid she would be lost in the crowd. From the director to the care staff and even the facilities maintenance people and cooks, they know the names of every person in this home and are respectful to the residents and always go the extra mile for whatever is needed. The new RN has brought great trust to family members regarding the hands on care their family members are receiving at her direction. From the director to the RN and the activities coordinatiors, they are present! Not tucked away in an office somewhere. Visibility counts. It really counts!Seeing your parent or loved one take that huge transitional step into the next stage of life is a big step for family and can be a scary one for your loved one. As my mother said to me, this is my forever home. That gives her great comfort as it does me. Thank you Castle Country Assisted Living for making challenging times enjoyable times! BBQs, birthdays, holiday parties--it is a life still lived with laughter and caring. Thank you for the patience of staff and the accommodations that are made on daily basis to ensure the comfort and care of your precious residents. Qmaps--the hands on caregivers--you rock! It is not a building you are seeking for your loved one---It is a home. This is home.

This is a great, locally run non profit. This historical house is just like being home! Small, charming and quiet with real personal attention. Publicly Owned companies put Profits before people. Shareholders before your parents...I highly recommend stopping by!

There is a lot of good to say about Valley House and the Castle Country Assisted Living facilities. They have so many wonderful amenities, so many wonderful people, and a great atmosphere. We love the facilities guy, Bob, the management staff was very kind, we had great interactions with residents and so MANY people. A physicians assistant visits the facility, a hairdresser, and a foot care man--so many great things. The food was great too--residents at the facility are even asked on a regular basis for their opinions and ideas.I wish I could offer a better review. We were very excited to have my grandma join the Castle Country Assisted Living family; we got all of our ducks in a row, we forwarded all necessary medical papers, we even verbally cleared Grandma to bring a pet along. The on-staff nurse spoke with my mother about Grandmas abilities to dress herself, go to the bathroom, etc. and assumed that everything was in order.Unfortunately, after ONE night at this facility, we were told that staff was (unexpectedly?) allergic to cats AND that since Grandma was shaking at lunch she was not a right fit for this facility. Also cited her past falls as a reason for Grandma not being a good fit. Basically, after moving my grandmother across the country, we were told we werent welcome in these facilities. It was very disappointing. Staff is attempting to help us find another facility for grandma, but it really would have been easier if we knew before we moved across the country that she would be excluded for a tremor and that, even though they say they are pet friendly, they are hiring people with common pet allergies.

I considered and looked at this place when looking for a new home for my mother. We were really hoping for something bigger and more grand for her retirement. This place is more just like a house.
