Nice atmosphere and a good idea but it was not good and unnecessarily dirty. We took our two little ones in and the hot dogs looked like they had been cooked and reheated - I’ve had burnt dogs that were better. The pimento grilled cheese was freeze cold and not fit to eat. We’ve been before and it was better. Not sure what happened today but we won’t be in anytime soon. Thanks

If youre already in the area, its a good place to grab a quick meal and a drink. However, I wouldnt suggest coming here on purpose to eat lunch. The hot dogs are average at best. The soda floats are from a fountain machine. Its a little grungy. Its nice its been owned for a long time, but it doesnt live up to the original soda fountain phrase that I believed.

Great place for a quick, inexpensive lunch, reminiscent of the classic lunch counters from the 50s and 60s (not that that I was around then!). They are famous for their hot dogs, which are delicious, but make sure you get a lemonade or orangeade as well. They are made by hand to order.

Tiny drugstore with tiny lunch counter. A Town of Cary institution. Sat and Wed special 2 hot dogs for $4. Veggie, beef or Jesse Jones dogs. Go for the classic Carolina red hot dog with Jesse Jones. We do mustard, slaw, and chili. Take a block over and enjoy at the Pharmacy or Bond Brothers for dog and beer.

Don’t believe the website. The hours of operation posted is meaningless. If the high schoolers want to close down early then too bad for the customers. Clearly no management. Sign of the times, millennials don’t know how to work. And we wonder why the rest of the world is eating our lunch.

This place holds so many great childhood memories for me. My mom would take me there for a fresh orange or lemon drink. It was right down the road from my school from 3-5th grade(now the Cary Arts Center). It is still the same 43 years later.

Ashworths has been a family tradition throughout most of my childhood, I’m so happy it’s still up and running and keeps the same atmosphere of when I’d go back with my family in the 90’s. The hot dogs, orangeade and friendly faces keep me coming back!

Have been going here for enough years they know exactly what my meds are, but they check anyway. The two pharmacists are really careful and unfailingly polite. Excellent service, better than any other drugstore I’ve ever used. And the lunch counter run by Al is cool too.

Summary: The best pharmacy I ever had a prescription filled at!Details: My insurance would not cover my drug. Mr. Ashworth called insurance company to understand why, and then explained to me that this particular drug was sold to another company that did not have a partnership with my company. (Most pharmacists would just say drug not covered, and they do not know why.) Next, he recommended a similar drug that was covered by my insurance. Then, he called my doctor, and asked the doctor to re-write me a new prescription. This is how excellent customer service should be!

Customer service is top drawer. Came in today with my little boys and they loved the experience. One of them had to rush to the bathroom, so I had to take both with me and they threw out our lunches...we didnt have much left, because they thought we left. They were so apologetic and replaced the things we werent finished with. Great place to sit for a quiet lunch and friendly people.

Totally disagree with the dude that says not to get your meds here. They know me by name, are super helpful and informative, and always polite and respectful. I’ve tried Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, etc and this place beats all of the big box stores both in price, convenience (you can park right by the store), and time spent waiting. Plus it’s got a soda fountain diner! So glad I found this pharmacy.

Ashworth Drugs is the place to be in Cary. Its the one place that never changes. Whenever I go there, Im filled with nostalgia. We grew up going there for our medicine, from the yummy pink stuff to cold syrup. The pharmacists offered friendly, helpful advice that got me through a few ailments. They always had a fantastical, enticing collection of kids toys which made every visit worth it, just so I could stare at them. And best of all, their bright red chili dogs, orangeade, and ice cream are divine!

Hands down some of the best customer service ever. My girlfriend broke her leg and sprained her other ankle. We needed a wheel chair that had leg supports. Come to find out that no one really carries them for rental. The lady at the counter called around to other places to try and find us one. We finally found one and the price was fairly high but not over the top. Mr. Ashworth came out and told us he would buy a new one for the store and have it by 11 am the next morning. And for the same price as their other chairs. They even gave us the basic chair for a day while we waited. Little acts like this of taking care of your customers is why my family continues to support them.

Incredibly rude employees in the pharmacy. Instead of attempting to find a way to understand, the woman who answered the phone was rude and dismissive, and the pharmacist actually hung up on me. Go for the crappy hot dogs, but stay away from getting your meds there.

My family has used Ashworth’s for years, and we’ve never had a bad experience. Whenever my parents go in, they ask about me, my brother, and my grandmother. They know all of us by name, and that is one of the things I love most. Because Ashworth’s was near school, and now I work in Ashworth’s Village, I go for food occasionally, and they’re always fast, and the food is delicious.

Want to have a glimpse at how your grand parents ordered sodas. Ashworth drugs is a wonderful throw back to when the local drug store was the center of activity in downtown. Ashworths offers a real lunch counter serving up remarkable hot dogs and milk shakes as well as other sandwiches. This establishment is part of the historical make-up of downtown Cary, opening in 1957. Ashworths is the corner stone of the Ashworth Village which harbors several other noteworthy shops such as Blue Moon cafe and Serendipity deli. If you go... make sure to try the Orange-aid... it is a true classic. Also, remember to stop in around Christmas and see if you can spot the Elf on the Shelf.
