Myles Standish State Forest
194 Cranberry Rd, Carver, MA 02330, United States

Review №1

Great hike with lots of elevation and terrain changes. If you leave the trail and walk down to some of the small ponds it adds some great views. Trail is fairly well marked but Id recommend an app like AllTrails just in case.

Review №2

Loved the hiking trails in this gorgeous pine tree filled park. There are several lakes and ponds you can meander around. Some paths are more travelled than others. Trails are well marked.

Review №3

We camped for five days in Yurt A and loved it! Site was spacious and yurt was great for the rain!! Bathrooms were quite clean and the campground around Barrets pond was quiet! Loved being a short walk from the pond! Would 100% return again!

Review №4

Beautiful state forest, great camping sites, conveniently located from Boston area. Camping sites are well maintained, pretty popular and crowded. Facilities are cleaned everyday. Security is tight which is great. Requires advance reservation. Great small lakes with sand beaches. Great for summer vacations. I wish people who reserve and dont go, cancel their reservations so that more people can enjoy what the state is offering.

Review №5

Great paved bike paths that offer roller coaster like thrills! Gravel and sand roads intersect the paved trails for mixed terrain cyclocross/gravel bike adventures. The sand tends to accumulate at the bottom of hills/dips, often too deep to power through...but dont let that deter you. Highly recommended for variety and beautiful setting.

Review №6

Awesome forbike riding walking nature trails. theres a parking lot at the one of the main entrances off of Long Pond Road

Review №7

First, the good, pretty large forest close to major cities, shady, paved bike/walking paths though woods. The not so good, no hookups, poor phone service and too many noisy youngsters

Review №8

Is a very nice, peaceful, warm water, super clean lake to go with the family I recommend 100%%

Review №9

I luv it here. But there needs to be more supervision, checks. Lots of people smoking dope and cigs. People taking too many tables, and littering. I found bandaids and chip wrappers in the water. Plus I paid to get in, but the other 2 cars didnt.

Review №10

Weve been tent camping at Myles Standish, for over 30 years. We always camp in the Charge pond loops. The campsites are fairly secluded and each has Its own fire pit and picnic table. The bathroom has electricity, showers, sinks, mirror and toilets. The showers have decent water pressure and hot water. The park department clean the bathrooms and restock toilet paper, every morning.Theres a large industrial sink, just outside the bathroom, for washing dishes. There are water faucets (cold water only) every 6 campsites. The pond is clean and the beach is good sized. There is no electricity on campsites.I love this place. I highly recommend, if you enjoy, roughing it, for old school camping.

Review №11

Great place to take the family camping, cheap and the place is HUGE! Even the do had a great time!

Review №12

Breathe in the sweet, fresh air. The forest hike from the parking/headquarters around East Head Pond is about 2.5 miles. Lots of turtles to gaze at.

Review №13

Hadnt been in a few years. College pond seems to have been cleaned up a little bit. Good place for families to go.

Review №14

Love our state parks. The sites here area A are large and most have privacy. Easy walk to charge pond, nice beach area. Lots of frogs and fish. Its super quiet and can see the stars forever on a clear night. Many trails for walking biking and horse back. So thankful for our conservation land. Alot of trash left from previous campers all over. Please pick up your garbage and put it in the dumpsters!

Review №15

I went here with my family for a short vacation and it was awesome. We managed to get a weekend where the weather was fantastic. The headquarters were busy, but we got in and out of there fairly quickly. They dont allow you to cut or bring any wood, but they do provide firewood for sale at $7 per bundle. Our site was clean of debris and nicely sized. Two large family tents (10 person sized), a shade canopy and 2 parked vehicles can fit in their standard campsite. Sites also come with a picnic table. Ours had definitely seen better days and I hope it gets replaced soon.I wasnt a fan of the provided fire grate/grill set up that is provided. You cant move it and it is small. On the plus side, the wood sold fits in nicely and it does hold and control the flames well. I may not be fond of its looks, but it works as it is supposed to.The camping areas all surround one of the numerous ponds that are in the forest. The pond for our site, Charge Pond, was lovely. There were plenty of access points all around and the section we went to near the pavilion had a mini beach there as well. The kids enjoyed the water immensely. The forest has plenty of things to do for those who like the outdoors. Hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, 1-2 person non motorized watercraft, and if have horses, they can come too. My dog had a really good time as she loves to be pet by strangers. If you like camping, this is a great place for that. Leave you cell phone, tablet, or laptop at home and let nature soothe your ragged nerves.

Review №16

This is a clean, lovely park with plenty of paved and dirt hiking and biking trails. I was there for a Triathlon, Pumpkinman, and though it was a damp day, the event was fun and the park accommodating. Their restrooms were open and very clean, and plenty of parking

Review №17

A truly beautiful Forrest allows for great hiking and outdoor activity.

Review №18

One of my favorite camping sites with amazing fishing to boot!

Review №19

Its nice here but the map is very deceiving when you book. You think youre near the pond but youre actually 300+ yards away. So if you think youre staying pond side like many of us did that I talked to, myself included, youre not. 5 min walk to the pond and only a small section is cleared out nicely. Still good trails though

Review №20

The camp sites were great and majestic sunsets. There was something to do for all ages. This is a great place to bring your kids and enjoy the outdoors.

Review №21

Our go to place to walk, ride bike trails, swim and camp. The DCR staff go above and beyond to make sure your time is nothing short of an amazing time. Love this place!!!!

Review №22

I am no longer dragging my butt to new hampshire. I can drive 45 minutes to get a similar experience. Great place!

Review №23

People clean up.after yourselves and your children. Those bathrooms, Charge pond area A everyone should be responsible and cleaning after yourselves. Plastic and trash in many places trails and sites. Bathroom were so gross because of people. Ive been coming here for over 20 years the worst Ive ever seen people treat this environment. Very little gave respect to the earth youre vacationing on.

Review №24

Was awesome except there was ALOT of dogs on the beach and in the water! There is a small swimming area and no dogs allowed on the beach. They should definitely let people know when checking in a dog that its not allowed! A lady told me near her site a lady was letting her large dog roam around without a leash. I have to say the park came right away to tell them to remove their dogs. But in the 5 days we were there a total of 8 large dogs were on the small beach when i was down there! Something could have gone wrong real fast! One dog was growling and lunging at people tied to a very thin rope, he was very large! Other than the dog problems i had a great time! For the most part bathrooms were clean and people were respectful.

Review №25

For me 4 stars means everything met my expectations. 5 stars means it exceeded my expectations. Why only 3 stars? First Ma charges too much for out of state folks. When we arrived the camp site had not been cleaned. Lots of trash all over the place. There are no water taps to fill a small RV or popup tank. You can use the tap at the dish cleaning sink. The bathrooms were clean but the floor drains did not work and the building itself needed repair. But the oddest thing is about the pump out station. Yes they have one, actually two. A very old design. However it is not on any map. You have to ask a ranger where it is. It is behind closed gates that is marked official vehicles only. Security was good. With a little maintaince this could rate 4 or 5 stars

Review №26

Was a very nice camping experience for my first time. Was a little upset with young men showering in the womens bathroom because the mens bathroom was full. There was also a couple in the shower together as well. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I was over charged for firewood the first night of check in. Overall I would go back with my family again.

Review №27

Beautiful place. Couldnt believe how big it is! Could spend a week or more walking the trails and never go down the same trail twice!

Review №28

Nice quiet and peaceful! You really get to enjoy nature.

Review №29

I had a wonderful camping weekend I cant wait to go back. Only thing I wish could change is the visits I understand about covid but feel the sights are well spaced apart

Review №30

Super nice, dog friendly, cant get lost and beautiful view of the lake.

Review №31

Would give it five stars if it had a closer store for ice or if they themselves had a machine or bagged ice chest. Other than that, loved every minute of it.

Review №32

Nice placeFriendly people

Review №33

Absolutely beautiful. Nice and quiet, a perfect get away.

Review №34

An amazing forest ... A hidden gem in Plymouth. So much to do or nothing to do & just relax ... One of my favorite places on Earth

Review №35

Really good for a quick hike or just lounging by the pond. There were parts of the Bentley loop that were not marked very well. All in all very nice and Im definitely going back for another hike or a run.

Review №36

Beautiful forest, lot of random cops running around with their lights on. Very strange. Only one really good trail around the lake by headquarters.

Review №37

One of the best camping ground in Mass. Gorgeous scenery and peaceful atmosphere.

Review №38

Every summer my family and I enjoy camping. This place is very affordable for big family’s like my own. The kids enjoy it very much. If you don’t wish to camp the have ponds you can go for the day which the day pass is 8 bucks for mass people. They have bathroom with free showers when camping you can take your pets. I take are two dogs which one is a pug and Pitbull. The sites are all nice ferry pond and college ponds are great. July 4 gets so packed so we skip that day. Other then that’s kids enjoy fishing swimming going on paddle boats.

Review №39

Great place to camp. My family loves it

Review №40

Best camping that I ever had. Group campsites can fit many tents. Clean bathrooms with hotwater. Trash bins and drinking water. Peaceful

Review №41

The park is very beautiful and the water is clear and clean. As for the people that were at the pond today, one family was using language that was very unacceptable around small children. Also there was a family of 12 duckling and the parent. This family was throwing rocks and mud at them. I did get up and ask them to stop. They didn’t like it, but I believe if you had rangers around or a life guard that would not have happened to the beautiful wildlife around there.

Review №42

Very clean pond collage nice place for a picnic or grill tables available for many people must get there early for a good spot a must Go to pond love it😎

Review №43

I have been visiting here since the 1970s. Its a beautiful place big enough to make you feel as if your completely away from the world.

Review №44

One of the most beautiful bike trails we have been too. Definately the most fragrant one! The most scented pines all over. Enchanted.

Review №45

Great place for a hike. My son camped there as a boy scout in the 2010s.

Review №46

Beautiful area. Reasonable prices. If you like camping, its perfect.

Review №49

Great Boy Scout camp. The park has many bike and hiking areas. Pack your lunch, bring a drink and enjoy the day.

Review №50

They are doing a great job of restoring the native oak and pine barrens ecosystem!

Review №51

No electric. Water spicket every 4 or 5 camp sites. Decent sites and the ponds are all pretty good size. Nice place.

Review №52

Me and my family camp here twice year every year except 2020.....highly confused by the no visitors on your site this year...very disappointes its not posted on there website....also DCR amd State police where allover the camp sites friday....saturday nowhere to be found as people lit fireworks..littered the sites with beer bottles and made alot of noise till 2am will be going to NH for now on as this place seem to be turning into ellis haven 😔

Review №53

Ridiculous noise level from a group of a-holes. Even with consistent ma state police presence, some campers were quite obnoxious. Bike paths are terrific!

Review №54

Cant wait to the next one love this place also the staff does a wonderful job

Review №55

The water and park was beautiful a n8ce place for families. The park eangers were nice and attentive to there park. They even gave trash bags to make sure it was taken care of ill defintly be able to spend many more trips here

Review №56

Family outing was so enjoyable. Will go again!

Review №57

Great place to rest.beautiful, quiet and good infrastructure.but remember, this is a camping and not a hotel. bring on one bike and one float or kayak and will has the weekend perfect.

Review №58

Best place to go for cook out and cooling off . great place for family and friends.

Review №59

I enjoy myself every time I go there

Review №60

Huge campsite with tons of paved bike trails in the midst of beautifully untouched wildlife. The park ranger here is great as well. He was very enthusiastic and got all of the kids excited about animal prints and various other things about the woods.

Review №61

Great I love going there and its a great camping experience

Review №62

A great place to visit, with lots of hiking trails and places to camp. There are ponds for swimming like a college pond and they also have limited cabins and yurts. A great way to spend the day.

Review №63

Great for camping. Family friendly

Review №64

Nice seeing my family... had a blast

Review №65

400 campsites. Three of four areas have sites overlooking beautiful ponds. (Fearing, Curlew and Barrett) Dozens of miles of beautiful trails. Get a great map from the headquarters or online from the Friends of Myles Standish.

Review №66

My first time here beautiful Park. I camped out with my horse, its a must do on your bucket list

Review №67

I love this place 🥰 a lot of things to do

Review №68

Beautiful state park surrounded by Cranberry bogs. Great for either a day trip hiking, or camping

Review №69

One of my favorite campgrounds. Nice and quiet. Very clean toilets and showers.

Review №70

What a beautiful reservation. Their sites are large and shaded. Great bike friendly! So many beautiful ponds. The bathrooms are sadly in need of an uplift. We have a travel trailer and would absolutely love water and electric (we do know it’s camping though), hoping as state parks are getting water electric on sites, this campground will be one which jumps on board. Over all, love this place.

Review №71

Love this place. Just started exploring in past year. Every type of cycling. Not just for bikes. So much to do. I ll let other people review different activities. Plan on camping here this summer. Hidden gem.

Review №72

It is a very good place to spend as a family, it is economical, it has a grill and the canoes are very fun, we love the place and we will surely go back 😁

Review №73

Review №77

Its gorgeous .period. its like youve escaped the hectic world. The ponds are lovely and its a great experience. But make sure to grab a map!

Review №78

Took a great 4 mile walk around a lake, hilly. There were also people biking and running

Review №79

It is in the middle of nowhere and there is no only thing to do is to go swimming and thats about it

Review №80

Very nice park, we camped at charge pond area F, very spacious sites, very private, pond was super clean, lots of trails for biking great kayaking, a little confusing to get around but overall an enormous park with lots to do

Review №81

Great time cant go wrong its $17 a night

Review №82

Really enjoyed the visit. I just happened to go there on a drive to Plymouth and was impressed with how much there was to do. Lots of nice trails and staff went out of their way to provide us with info. Great for families, too.

Review №83

Wow what a beautiful park!! The campsites where huge with nice thick cover between sites. The park while not in the most rural area, you will be fooled into thinking you are miles from civilisation. The pond was clean and well kept but the beach/s was a little small. The main office and the campsites are miles apart and the campsite can be a little tricky getting round because the park is so big. Bathrooms were clean and the staff were very welcoming. Well worth a visit.

Review №84

Yet another amazing park in MA everyone should visit. Excellent hiking trails for people and dogs.

Review №85

Been camping here for years, Peaceful. Lots of improvements the past year.

Review №86

Theres endless options for recreation here; snowshoeing, hiking, camping, biking, and the best fly fishing at Fearing Pond.

Review №87

Excellent venue for all things outdoors.

Review №88

Its where I bowhunt for deer, and fish the gin clear kettle ponds for bass and trout. Its far enough from town, and also large enough to enjoy total solitude. Aside from the occasional car driving by, or a distant dog bark, its a very quiet place and gives you the feeling of being in a wilderness environment. You will enjoy great access to all the ponds and pine baron forests unique to SE Mass. Standish is my church and Ive been a devout congregate since I was a little boy when my late father brought me there...

Review №89

Lovely access to trails, ponds/lakes, and camp areas!

Review №90

Great camping location, BSA council does a good job keeping up camp.

Review №91

Great place for a hike on the many trails!

Review №92

Every year since I believe 2015, my family and I go camping here. It’s always so nice and fun. We find new trails every year. We ride our bikes down the big hills and skateboard at the basketball court. We love the pond near us. Every year my cousins and I discover something new that we always return to the next year. Overall, this is an amazing place.

Review №93

Whether youre just looking to spend a day enjoying the miles and miles of biking / hiking / equestrian trails, or booking a (wonderfully inexpensive for these days) weekend camping trip, I cant recommend Myles Standish enough. Support our state and national parks, and get out there!

Review №94

Love camping here sites are clean, rangers are helpful and polite!

Review №95

Great family beach better to go during the week

Review №96

Great with the exception of all the sasquatches running around

Review №97

Good place for a family walk or a bike ride.

Review №98

I love it here. Been coming here since my boys were 2 yrs old. Now my grandchildren. Camping is good here. Plus a 1 day pass to enjoy swimming--cooking & hikes. Many different lakes to chose from for camping. Night time is just beautiful here.
