The Carmel location has refused to answer phones so after multiple attempts to get in contact with them —we showed up in person and they told us we made them feel unsafe and to never return when we just wanted to inquire about getting our dog in for an evaluation after not being able bring him in for the last year. (We all transitioned to working at home.)We also had about a month of day passes that had apparently expired ( which :/ fine I understand, it had been a year…) but for $400 and covid making everyone work at home you think they’d have SOME leniency about a refund or partial refund? We really did like camp bow wow but they’ve treated us in an extremely unprofessionally manner and claimed that we’ve harassed them because we had to go to the physical location ONCE to get ahold of anyone…(Including some photos of our dog, Köpek who at one point they were using for doggy evaluations in order to help boost this review.)

Horrible horrible horrible. Campers didnt receive the playtime advertised. Spoke with the owner, Michelle, and she tried to tell me it was because of a worker shortage. If thats the case either dont charge full price or take less campers. She told us shed put something in our account because of this but she didnt. We spoke with a manager when we picked him up and he argued with me basically telling me were okay giving okay service and not great service. We still paid full price because they wouldnt give us our dog unless we did. He told me they willingly overbooked and therefore couldn’t give the campers the promised playtime. Also they told us that they fed him all his meals, yet his stomach was sunken in and immediately ran to his bowls for food and water when he got home.No body should even consider this place. They treat dogs and their owners very poorly.

Hi,I boarded my dog for seven days The week of June 19th. I prepackaged 7 bags of food, one for each day- measured out in portions, my dog eats.I picked her up on the following Sunday and was given back SIX bags of food back. I called Monday to ask how my dog ate last week. The girl on the phone, JULIA, was extremely rude and said my dog ate during EVERY meal. I asked why I was given back six bags of food. She’s responded with, “Oh that’s weird. I’m not sure, we don’t store dog food and only give what the owner brings.”I’m unsure why no one could give me an answer on why I had so much food left or what happened during the week. She then retracted and said,“Maybe my dog didn’t eat all week.”My dog lost 4 lbs while staying here. No one can tell me how much or when my dog ate. This is neglect. I can’t believe how much money I spent to have my husky treated like this.I paid for bath services to find out when I picked her up there was no bath given. The girl working said they ran out of time, but put that they would give her a bath, if I brought her to doggy day camp. So it’s now assumed I’m bringing my dog back? Why wouldn’t my money just be refunded for the bath not given? I’m in disbelief on everything from this place. Also to add- my dog went to the vet today and diagnosed with kennel cough.I’ve tried contacting the owner several times and have not gotten a response. She did however reply to a review I left on Facebook, very unprofessionally.I can’t understand how this location is in business.

Camp Bow Wow is awesome! I’ve been taking my dog there once a week for a few months now and my Lab loves it. She gets so excited to go there and comes back exhausted. The employees there are very friendly and even know my dog’s name when we walk in the front door (which is pretty amazing since we have only been there a few times). In addition they have gone above and beyond the call of duty whenever I’ve need anything from them. If you’re looking for a daycare for your dog, this place is great and you’ll love it.

Be aware of the money grabbing! We have using the service since 2015, we loved it back then. Over the years , services declined drastically. Personal changes all the time. Billing systems is terrible, not sure how many unused day passes and boarding passes got wasted. Due to the Covid shutdown, we havent got use the service for over a year. Finally this year March we decided venture out, I went head booked two nights boarding for the weekend, and then we decided canceling our trip due to the spike of the Covid the place we traveling too, it is about 1-2 hours after booking I called back to cancel the reservation, the girl on the phone said the manager will refund the deposit later. A month later, I still not seeing the refund, I called, and was told the girl I had dealing with no longer work there, and will have manager call...the long story short, they just refusing to refund the deposit! Who would use and trust the business like this!

We jumped through hoops just to schedule a bath and nail trim at this location; got paperwork faxed, filled out a behavioral assessment and even scheduled a ”doggie interview” before our Sheltie could be seen. When we arrived, I’m told by the manager, Laura, that since we didn’t have a collar, we couldn’t be seen at all. ((My Sheltie cannot wear a collar because of her coat. She matts.))It was a VERY hard no; “It’s our policy and she cannot come here without it.” But if it’s such a HUGE policy, then why am I not made aware of it? Why not have the customers sign a separate sheet of paper with this info on it?I asked for the owner/district manager’s phone number and this manager refused to give it to me. She refused us all together. You would think an exception could be made for the customer because of the misunderstanding, but no. Make us go through 5 steps just for a bath, then refuse us at the door at 8:30am on a Friday.I called another Camp Bow Wow location to see if I was losing my mind; I’m not an unreasonable person. That employee completely agreed with me and said this should not be a problem especially for a bath. I asked the manager again “Are you sure this is a huge deal even if we’re only getting a bath?!” She responds, “We don’t even do JUST baths.” So please tell me why I have an appointment for a bath IF YOU DON’T DO BATHS!!!!! To think I wasted so much of my week and now my Friday on this place.Hands down worst customer service of my life.Update: In response to the manager’s comment, you have completely lost your mind. I should have read the MANY 1-star reviews before ever considering this facility, citing animal abuse, poor customer service, lying to customers, withholding funds for services not received, and so on. 👌🏼

Good experience so far here. The dogs return from this kennel and they don’t seem shook up like with some other places. The prices are not cheap but everything is included and you don’t have to add exercise or daycare or what should be standard offerings for an additional fee. You can have the dogs groomed/bathed for a fee, but it is a reasonable one and they do a good job. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is no trouble to add on an extra night or two if it’s not Christmas or Thanksgiving or something. You can watch your dogs in their kennel on camera, at least with some of the kennels. We are sticking with camp Bow Wow for our two dogs.

We paid $1000 for board and daycare packages. After payment we used some of the days then we were told the dog had to be neutered. We had him neutered and returned. We were then told they had no records for him.Two days later we returned and were told they called our vet and the vet said the dog had behavioral issues (we verified with the vet that this was not true). We then requested a refund and were told everything is non refundable. We are out $. Do not take your dog to this place!UpdateWe take our dog to a new place. Owner is present, not like this place. We had the opportunity to visit Camp Bow Wow this week with our 1 1/2 yr old, 77lb German Short Hair ...Grizzly. He was immediately greeted and welcomed by the staff. Everyone was very friendly and patient with answering questions. LOVE the cameras through the play areas that we were able to access on our phone app as well as the computer. We also liked the size of the play areas, the indoor/outdoor options and the breakdown of dogs by size. Grizzly had a great time and was ready to rest by the time we got home...which we like very much!

The thing I like the most about camp bow wow is the staff. They are friendly, customer-service oriented and they know me and my dog. They show they care about my dog and know us both by name, which makes me feel comfortable and trusting of them with my dog. They also know my dogs personality and have worked with him to make him feel comfortable. I think this culture at your facility is what sets you apart from other daycare facilities. Keep up the great work in hiring great staff and developing a culture of caring and customer service! It definitely makes a difference!

I echo the experience of Anne E. below. Our dog had an overnight during Labor Day weekend, and I too obsessively watched the cameras to find that my dog played no more than 30 minutes all day long. Our phone call and voicemail that weekend also was not returned. We were so frustrated that we picked our dog up early on Sunday. When we expressed that we did not feel comfortable paying full-price for the service, the on-site manager informed us that they were understaffed so the dogs did not have a normal play schedule. The manager told us the owners needed to approve a refund, and she would have the owner call us right away. No return call for over 3 weeks. We called 2-3 times per week for over 3 weeks requesting a follow-up call from the owner. Refund eventually denied. The facility has explained that when they have too many dogs and not enough caretakers, play schedules are minimized to maintain safety of dogs. I do not, however, think it is fair to charge customers the same price for a day with 30 minutes of play time when customers expected their dogs to receive much more than that.

Folks should pay attention to the single-star reviews. I never got a super-great feeling about this place, but Ive used them several times this past year and our visit this week was quite bothersome. First, no dogs were in the play rooms during a good chunk of the hours they were supposed to be (I always watch them online). Second, they failed to cut my dogs nails early in their visit, as I had asked, so they wouldnt have long nails on concrete all week. Third, I left them there all day Sunday in order to have baths; they were supposed to call me when they were ready, but never did, so I just went over about half an hour before closing, assuming theyd be ready. They didnt have baths; front desk guy said they had refused to get in the tub and were so uncooperative that he didnt want to force them. My older dog is ten and younger dog is five. Both board many times a year and neither has *ever* been characterized as anything other than easygoing, over the course of perhaps ten different facilities in several states. He kept saying how many dogs they had there, so I assume they just didnt have time to do any of this, and instead of being truthful, tried to cover it up. Not acceptable. My older dog is noticeably limping now that I have her home, after struggling to get into the car. I dont know what is going on there, but its not good. Ive had good experiences at CBWs in other cities before (in NC and SC), so I gave this one several tries, hoping they were just having a rough day on past visits. So... this is really disappointing. I wont be back to this particular branch.

They seemed understaffed. I heard an individual screaming at the dogs for the entire time I was there waiting to pick up my dog. An employee came out very flustered/overwhelmed/disheveled and asked for the name, mentioned my dog didn’t eat and then left to go get her from the back. Cameras were rarely on. My dog doesn’t want to go back. Not sure what happened but we will not be going back to this dog daycare. For being part of the Camp Bow Wow franchise, I was very disappointed.

We had taken our 2 dogs here for the last two years and had no issues until the new ownership took over in January. Since then, an employee left our dog unattended in the front area, so she jumped over all of the gates to get to the front door, where luckily my husband still was. The employee then lied about what happened, but had to backtrack when the video corroborated my husbands story. We were told we would be called by a manager/the owner, never happened, nothing was done, no consequences to the employees negligent actions. Then last week, our dog was being too rough repeatedly with another dog, so they put her in time out. Fair enough, I understand that all the dogs need to be safe. However, my dog was in time out for an hour and a half, after being put up for an hour for lunch. So no playtime for two and a half hours, even though that’s what we’re paying for. When watching the videos, we saw that the man in the back with the dogs was constantly on his phone or vaping, not paying attention when other dogs were more aggressive, and only yelling at them to break them up. Also, we saw him grab our other dog very aggressively when we came to pick her up. Our dog acted scared and like something had happened to her for 3 hours after we picked her up from camp. I was told by an employee that the new owner only cares about quantity of dogs, not quality of care. For the safety and health of our two dogs, we will not be returning to Camp Bow Wow. I highly suggest not bringing your dogs there.

I took my dog here for daycare the other day. I gave the employee a toy and a blanket for my dog to have when he was in the crate. She told me she would put it in his crate. However, nearly 8 hours later I saw him in the crate on the camera with his blanket and toy still on top of the crate which I found very disrespectful that he had to sleep in the corner of a concrete crate with nothing.I never saw any of the dogs have water either. When I picked him up he had blood on his ear, which no one said anything about. When I got home he gulped down a whole bowl of water immediately.I question how well the dogs are being taken care of. I would like to point out that the website states “At Camp Bow Wow® CampBow Wow Carmels Overnight Camp, a premier dog boarding service, Overnight Campers enjoy all-day play and are tucked away each night in their individual cozy cabins where they sleep on cots with fleece padding.” This is a lie. I boarded my dog over Labor Day weekend from Thursday until Tuesday. My dog enjoyed playtime on Thursday and Friday, but when I went to check the cameras on Saturday (around 10 am), there were no dogs to be found! I thought that seemed a little odd, so I checked again at 2 pm and 4 pm. Nothing. I called to ask what was going on, but I was routed to the voicemail system. Finally, around 6 pm, my dog was allowed some freedom (for approximately 30 minutes). Upset by what I saw on Saturday, I began watching the cameras obsessively on Sunday and Monday (Labor Day). Based on my constant checking in (every 30 to 45 minutes), I estimate that my poor dog was lucky to get more than an hour outside of his kennel on either of these days…not exactly what I would call all-day play. When I went to pick him up on Tuesday, the employee mentioned that play was limited on the weekends (that comment seems like a gross understatement). Not only did my dog suffer what I would refer to as borderline neglect, I was charged full price for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday even though my dog was not offered the full services listed on the website. My dog was also extremely energetic and needed exercise when we arrived home. I previously used another doggy daycare facility where I used to live, and my dog would have to sleep for two days after visiting that facility because he was so exhausted from actual all-day play! I previously recommended this place to a couple of friends (stating only good things after my dog seemed to have so much fun on his interview day). Rest assured, they’ll be getting an update from me letting them know that they should never take their dogs here. I know I won’t be back. The management team should be ashamed of themselves for their treatment of pets on the weekend and the false advertising they promote. I hope they don’t own pets.

(edit from my I raving 5 star review from three years ago, when I loved the staff and my dog always came home tired)Im not sure what happened this year, but something is very different. My dog is all of the sudden extremely timid/nervous when I take him to camp, and recently a staff member has cancelled my boarding reservation last-minute due to required behavior training which I was never told he needed - not that I can reproduce the issue (being overly friendly to a dog lol).Hes been going to daycare his whole life (3 different daycares) and frequent trips to dog parks and hes never had any socialization issues reported or observed. I totally respect that dogs may act differently without their owners, but I think something happened at this place and I dont trust the staff enough to take him back there - training or no.

My husband finally called and we got a well notify the center that controls it very blasé response. We got our dog back, shes alive and doing well, so thats great.
