Rocks have never been so fascinating! What an awesome place to tour. Carlsbad has a lot of hidden gems (sorry for the pun!) and this is one you may not have visited, but should.

Great staff and security. Their display of various gems is educational and amazing. This is a bucket list place if you know or care to know anything about precious and semi precious stones.

Went to school for my study. The staff was very knowledgeable. Love my study and I dont regret it for traveling there for my study. Just wish there is more acceptant for jobs in US

Great gift, a Jewelers eye shot. Looks up his alma mater whilst traveling once more. Always like hearing whats new from resource counselor. We should work together for stronger trade for recycling industry. Great at sea although its been a cool while. Hit me for hire.

It was so interesting, so much to see. Many items were rare and many unusual. I learned a lot about GIA and how items are created. Glad I went.

Great free educational program. Recommend it for class trips

Had a field trip to GIA today. Loved it. My children, 9 and 13, were mesmerized and gained quite an education on the history, formation and kinds of rocks and gems. The teachers were kind, instructive, quite knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

Top rate museum and excellent security staff.

Such a nice place to study! Great campus, wonderful teachers and stuff. It is towards the priceier side, but it is really worth it, you learn A LOT during the short among of time you spend there and I made some great contacts! I hope one day they will have a BA or MA degree tho ;) You go GIA!!! Miss Carlsbad and the teachers there soooo much!

Worst place to be working at. Especially with supervisor Maly So from weights and measures. Treats everyone different. Gets everything her way just because shes been working there for a lot of years and its worthless to report her to HR. So here I am jobless with bad reference just because she doesnt like me I felt it since the first day I worked there her vibe was all in bad terms towards me. But Im happy I am no longer working for that company. Karma will always come back no matter what 😊 Im just going to miss my coworkers who made that job a happy place.

Pleasant place to tour and learn about gems.

I had a very bad experience there, the main guy that works at the Gemological section, big guy, communicated very rudely with me and my family. He couldnt explain to me that they didnt switch my sapphire for a fake one. Watch out and do pictures of your stones, and get a witness before you submit your gems!

GIA, if you are not aware they offer guide tour and they are fabulous! Its a must do if your a diamond lover!!!

Be sure to schedule a tour. The self guided one is boring and uninformative. Things are not well labeled.
