I was passing through town in my RV and concerned about an outbreak of welt like eruptions below my left knee. Through a pleasant conversation and exploratory questions, NP Nora determined that it was a delayed reaction to a jellyfish sting I got in Florida a couple of weeks earlier. She prescribed some steroids, ointment, and over the counter allergy medicine. It’s only been a day, but I’m confident this will do the trick and relieved to know the source of the problem.

A lot better than going to the emergency room. They were very kind. Wait time was not very long. They get you in take care of you, and you are done. I am so glad they are here. Not crowded with a lot of people. I tell all my friends about Urgent Care.

Everyone was friendly and smiling on a Saturday morning. I felt like the doctor really listened to my concerns and addressed them clearly so I understood what was going on. I would recommend this walk in clinic and have been telling people to use them. I drove 45 minutes to get there and it was worth it. 5/5 stars! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Received a deep gash in my finger. Doctor was able to stitch the gash at the office rather than going to the ER. Few weeks later doctor recommended an x-ray due to swelling. Have a piece of bone that broken off. It would have been nice if an x-ray would have been ordered the same day though.

I was greeted by a professional assistant at arrival, The reception area, bathrooms and inside rooms were very clean. I was taken inside within 1 hour and received a good care. I was seen for an ear infection. The doctor was very patient, caring and knowledgeable. She also gave me a good advice about how to minimize the negative effects of the anti biotics on my body during the course of the treatment. I loved this place. I live in a metropolis area and was very satisfied with the level of care I received at this office.

I found the lobby of the clinic to be clean and comfortable. The ladies at the front counter were friendly and personable. The nurse practitioner I saw was also very personable and friendly. We were able to share our mutual experiences of working in a part of the country as traveling medical professionals. . The front staff were very good at informing me that they had a change in staffing that would require approximately a 45 minute wait. Fortunately that new staff person came earlier and the wait was not as long. The new staff person jumped right in and got me taken care of so the nurse practitioner could see me. My only negative comment would be the front staff could have been a little more helpful in that I came in to the clinic with severe pain in my foot carrying my shoe in my hand. Instead of coming to collect the paperwork needed to be filled out, I had to bring it up to them. Then when they were returning my ID and insurance card, I had to go up and retrieve that as well. Getting a 5th star would have been them bringing my ID and insurance card back to me so I didnt have to get up and try to walk. I would go back.

The physician was great...... However, the facility was disgustingly dirty. I got there before they opened. Once I was let in, the floors were visibly dirty and a drink had been left on the floor near a chair. The chairs were visibly dirty and sticky. I went to the bathroom thats near the exam rooms and there was detoured urine in the toilet seat (shouldnt be like that upon opening). The exam chair in the exam room was also gross and sticky. This was literally THE MOST disgusting doctors office I have ever been to.

Horrible place to get seen at. The NP who attended me for a wrist injury didnt even bother evaluating my wrist. Just walked in and said so do you want an x-ray or what?. Again, want to reiterate that she didnt even bother looking at my wrist AT ALL. Ive worked in healthcare and even if you think an injury is minor the doctor/mid-level should ALWAYS evaluate the patient for what theyre present for. Im literally paying for that. Nurses and x-ray tech were really nice though.

Google shows this Urgent Care clinic closes Saturdays at 7:00pm. I arrived right before 3:00pm to take my kid to see the doctor. We were told by the receptionist (Victoria) that the clinic closes at 4:00pm but are no longer accepting patients for the day. Not even a little kid. She denied to talk to one of the nurses or offer any other help. This is, of my knowledge, the only urgent care clinic that opens Saturdays in the City of Carlsbad NM. So there is no place to take my kids to see a doctor, but the only Emergency Room in town, which is another whole billing story. Very sad that medical services are so scarcely available for children in a town of over 30,000 people. This is a call to the Pecos Valley Urgent Care in Carlsbad New Mexico and its administration, the City of Carlsbad, and the medical field in South East New Mexico. This is a Public Health issue.

For the first time of being a patient at the clinic I was less than pleased with my experience. Peggy Denton did not listen to my concerns or listen about my health history. It was like pulling teeth to get her to do a strep test. She was quick to call my sickness Covid like people don’t get Strep, Bronchitis or the flu anymore. Not everything is Covid and she shouldn’t be treating everything as if it was. I ended up going else where for a second opinion. Sure enough it’s not Covid!

Probably one of the worst experience ever seeing a Dr. She was rude af! was seen for a sprain knee and ankle. I believe she thought i was in there for pain meds. which was not the case!!. Just wanted to make sure it wasnt broken. instead walked out feeling like I shouldve went somewhere else, since she told me to stay off my leg since the more im on my knee the longer it will take to heal. and could possibly hurt it more. But was against giving me a note for a few days since supposedly employers fire ppl for missing days. Thats after she said I need to do RICE( rest, ice, compression, and elevate) knowing I work for a restaurant that requires to stand and move around... Need new staff ASAP. People that actually want to do the job.

Called ahead and asked if I could be seen for a after surgery medical problem. Was told that they could help me for this problem and could also see me that same day. I got there and filed the proper paperwork and payed, while waiting more ppl started showing up.When the nurse called me back, she asked me why I came in. I gave her the same story I told over the phone. She said that they couldnt help. When the nurse practitioner came in she told me that she couldnt help me because they couldnt do anything that deals with blood. They recommend to go to the ER.After getting my money back, I went to the ER. Weird thing is while I was waiting to be seen at the hospital, the other patients from Urgent Care showed up as well. One by one I saw the same people... Found it weird they sent them all the the E.RP.S. Dont send ppl who are out of state to this place. Had a family member get charged $2000 to be treated for the common cold.

I was in and out quickly. The staff were very kind. My only complaint that prevents a better rebiewbb VI is that the hours listed on the web, on their brochures, and on their phone messages and the referral message from the family clinic all say they are open until 9pm, but they are not. I arrived at 7:30 and the receptionist had to ask whether they would see me as they were getting ready to close. They actually locked the door in the face of another person at 7:50 just before I left.

We visited this urgent care for the first time today. My 5 year old was bit by a dog. The wound was small, but deep. She didnt need stitches. We just got it cleaned and bandaged. My child was crying (of course!) And the doctor kept telling her she needs to stop crying. At first I thought she was joking.. until I realized she was serious. She told my daughter that she cant stand the sound of kids crying and she isnt going to clean or bandage her wound until she stops crying. She even said she was going to leave the room until my daughter stopped crying and even walked towards the door and said and would come back when my daughter was quiet because the sound of kids crying drives her crazy.

If I could give a 0 star rating I would. Before visiting, I called the night before to double check that they had an x-ray machine. The lady at the front desk caught an attitude (since it was later at night before closing) and told me they did, but no one was there to use it as they would be closing in 15 minutes. I said thats fine, Im not coming in tonight, I was just curious because I would need to visit the next day. I called the next morning to confirm that an x-ray technician would be in and they said yes so I went right over. I sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes filling out paperwork and waiting for my turn. Once called back, they took my vitals, and put me in a room. The nurse who took my vitals comes back in and says shes sorry but there isnt an x-ray technician available and I would have to go to the hospital. An entire hour wasted because the employees couldnt get their act together. Fast forward one month and I receive a bill in the mail for an office visit that day even though I WAS NEVER TREATED BY THEM. Called their billing department and my insurance company as I will not be paying them since they never treated me. AVOID AT ALL COST! RUDE AND INCOMPETENT EMPLOYEES!

I was visiting Carlsbad when I developed excruciating pain from my left shoulder. The staff from reception through to the clinicians were great. Dr. Barnes was terrific at diagnosing and treating me, making me understand exactly what the problem was and how to treat it. I have been in health management for years. My wife and I both read the other reviews and felt the weaker ones were about wait times. An hour was not too long to wait, and the quality was great. Thank you for my best urgent care experience ever.

This place just sucks overall, I was in there from 3:15 to 6:28 because I was ill and I had never been here before, well never again, first off the wait is bad enough, the E.R is quicker which is sad, the woman who took my vitals was a helping hand who generally worked as an x ray tech and she was very nice, but then I get into my actual room and as the other reviews say the nurse that works there is a very condescending unprofessional being, not to mention it seemed like every time I explained a symptom or what medicine I was taking she just looked at me like I was the stupidest person on the planet. to top it all off they called my prescription in to a closed pharmacy and I wont have it till tomorrow, you figure if this was a medical practice they would know vital things like that for prescriptions but no, I know the Carlsbad E.R isnt that great either but trust me you are way better off going there than here or just out of town in general, hope I helped and I highly recommend staying away from this pathetic excuse for an Urgent Care building, its definitely not Urgent and they definitely DONT CARE

The definition of urgent care: “Urgent care centers are primarily used to treat patients who have an injury or illness that requires immediate care but isn’t urgent enough to warrant a visit to an emergency room.” They do not replace your regular doctor. Most urgent care clinics are staffed by nurse practitioners.Urgent care clinics are busy. Peak times are the first 2 hours after opening, 5-7 pm when people get off work, and ALL day Monday. If you can avoid those times the wait time may be less.Urgent cares are not mini ERs and do not replace a primary care provider. They do not carry strong pain medications or anti-anxiety medications. They are not prepared to provide primary care services or medical specialties. If a person has a chronic condition that has been diagnosed by a medical specialist going to an urgent care nurse practitioner will not improve their condition. For example if someone has chronic gastritis for 5 years and is being treated by a primary care physician and a gastroenterologist…..the urgent care nurse practitioner will not be able to cure them, nor will they change another provider’s plan of care. Some symptoms take more diagnostic testing than an urgent care can provide. They can treat symptoms and may start diagnostic testing but then the patient will be referred to the appropriate provider whether it is primary care, orthopedics, general surgery, or another specialty. Urgent care clinics are NOT equipped to provide extensive diagnostic testing or treatment. They start the process and refer to a provider more equipped for long term follow-up.About pricing: when someone visits an urgent care they are billed at a higher rate than when visiting their primary care provider. Because it says URGENT above the door the insurance companies frequently charge a higher co-pay. Insurance companies will not pay for an MRI if it is ordered by an urgent care office. Insurance companies may not pay for some diagnostic testing if ordered by urgent care. Orders may have to come from a primary care provider. There is limited diagnostic testing at Urgent care clinics. They may have xray but they usually do not have MRIs or CT scans. They are able to do cultures and draw blood but the results may take days to return. For example: if you have the worst headache of your life, the urgent care may send you to the ER for a CT scan. How to choose where to go:Urgent Care: allergies, colds/flu/fever, ear pain, insect bites, minor asthma, minor cuts/burns, new rashes not previously seen by another provider or dermatologist, sprains/strains/simple, minor broken bone with no skin penetration, sore throat/cough, urinary tract infections, migraine uncontrolled by migraine care plan in place by primary provider, nausea/vomiting, food poisoning, or if you have called your primary provider for an appointment and they cannot see you for 3 weeks and you are having an URGENT issue. They will give referrals to primary care or specialists if needed.Emergency Room: chest pain/discomfort, high fever especially in infants under 1 year old, shock, severe burns/cuts, severe headaches, severe trauma/injuries, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, sudden paralysis or slurred speech, unconsciousness, uncontrollable bleeding, visible fractures where the bone is showing, severe diarrhea or dehydration, head injury, vaginal bleeding during pregnancy, fainting, snake bites, seizures.Primary Care: yearly physicals and blood work, chronic condition management including pain management, prescription refills, vaccinations, screenings, a health problem where you need advice. A primary care provider is the manager of your health care and will make referrals to specialists and will order detailed extensive testing to diagnose symptoms. Primary care looks out for your PRESENT and FUTURE health.
