I’ve had my black card membership with Planet Fitness for about a month and so far it’s been very convenient. I’ve used it to exercise at three different clubs without any problems. When I tried to work out at this location, however, I had a strange and annoying experience. The woman at the desk wanted to retake my picture, even though I already had my picture taken by Planet Fitness just a few weeks ago, which was fine. But then she wanted my bank routing number, stating that the company’s system “doesn’t like” receiving payments from debit cards — something I had never heard from any of the other three locations I had gone to. When I asked if I could just set that up later because I didn’t have a ton of time and because the company obviously hadn’t any trouble charging my debit account for both my monthly fees and my annual fee the instant I signed up, she acted like it was strange I didn’t want to pull up and give her my routing number on the spot and asked to instead see my ID, something I also had never been asked for when trying to check in at PF. By the time I had walked to my car to get my ID, I decided it wasn’t worth my time and instead went to the other location ten minutes away. Big annoyance and waste of my time when I just wanted to use the service I was paying for.

You get what you pay for. Staff is friendly, but don’t do a good job cleaning. Facility is also small, so they have limited machines, weights, and benches, and very little room for stretching. They do have amply cardio machines.

Clean but busy.The worst is when you get these jocks that bang weights and grunt for 1/3 of the weights that I lift🤣 feel like they need a poster that says if you need to grunt or make girly or constipation noises take 30lbs off because I can’t judge you!!But this is the case with all gyms and not just planet fitness so it’s not factored into my rating. I won’t be call the manager. Not worth it but instead fine tune your grunt and clang alarm for more sensitivity.

Had a great experience at the Canton Planet Fitness. Amelia Carey is my favorite worker there. Always so kind and helpful. It does bother me that she looks like Brennan from Step Brothers but I let it slide

The staff is really nice and friendly and do a good job at cleaning. But the place is really small and there’s only 3 smith machines it’s almost impossible to get one when it’s busy :( just wish it was bigger!

I got a lot of nephews who work here and they make me feel like a proud uncle when I see the quality of the club

I recently got a planet fitness membership because I moved into a new area. I really enjoy going to this location the only downside is it is always busy. You are usually waiting around for people to be done on the machines but It is clean and perfect if you like to work that body. Overall recommended

Out of all of the Planet Fitness gyms that I have visited, I can confidently say that PF Canton is the most cramped and poorly organized location. Regardless of the time that I visit, there is barely any area to move around whether its in the weights or abs section (even cardio sometimes). Even something as simple as the Smith Machine is so outdated, that some exercises cant be completed using the machine. I have been a member here for 3+ years, and remember that the new canton PF was planning on opening in Fall 2018. It is now Summer 2021, and whenever I ask about the new gym I am never given a clear answer. Overall, stay away from this gym, it is tiny, there is no space to workout and the infrastructure is old compared to other PFs in the area.

Nice clean and one of the best in the area.

Good effort to maintain sanitary conditions and social distancing. I feel safe working out there. Although equipment is somewhat limited you can still get in a decent workout with a little patience.

I would give 0 stars. They claim to be number one on customer service but In my opinion they dont even know the meaning of customer service. They kept charging my bank even during COVID lock down and when called to reverse the charge they denied the request. They said thats how their business model works and asked me to come in person to cancel membership if the billing has to stop. I have seen almost any establishments reverse charges as a courtesy for customers as a good gesture for at least one time but these guys were rude and quoted to look into the terms and conditions when we signed up.

The experience was good. Friendly staff and the gym is clean and equipment is in great order. You can tan here too. Ill be back soon!

The facility was quite small & equipment was very limited in comparison to other Planet Fitness locations Ive been to. The gym was clean and staff was nice. I still was able to get a quality workout.

I love my local gym it’s always clean and the employees are friendly. I like the crowd that comes in everyone seems chill. My only complaint is working out in a face mask it makes me dizzy and winded when running on the treadmill. I’m understanding to their policy just pace yourself breathing is 100% the most important part of exercise!

Even though I cancelled my membership during COVID season , pF took my money for 6 months without my knowledge, went and talked at desk asked me come later to talk manager , not happy so all our family canceled membership

Today in the 30 min circuit there was no one in the Area ( and I mean no one, other than a staff person” Sydney S. I typically will make the circuit in 10-15 min. I have always respect the rules when it’s busy. But come on! There was no one using the equipment, and Sydney S. Told me I had to leave the area. Sydney S. was unreason and confrontational. Disappointed!Totally killed my chill workout!Others than that plant fitness has been a great experience.

A little cramped but they have a great staff and plenty of equipment. Probably too much for the space they have.Reply to Planet Fitness: When I talk about cramped, I dont mean number of people. I use the crowd meter. I am referring to the size of the gym in relation to the amount of equipment in it. You are on top of eachother working out.

The staff after 5pm are incredibly lax on any kind of floor supervision. Four out of five evenings guests have their masks down and are moving a machine to machine without cleaning them. Guests also sit on machines chatting loudly with whomever they are speaking to on their cell phones. Ive complained twice and nothing is being done about any of these issues. Unfortunately, Ill be canceling my membership and moving to a safer, cleaner gym.

If you are serious about lifting dont go here. The weights go up to 60lbs, no squat rack, no bench press. They will run you down if you pull down your mask when doing a set. This place is the Starbucks of gyms. I canceled my membership 3 days after opening it.

I called to ask how old I’d have to be to come as a plus one with some one who has a membership, the guy told me they’d have to be at least 18 and I have to be at least 13... but when I showed up they told me I need to be 18 unless I’m with a parent or guardian. Not only was I lied to but that’s an extremely stupid rule. I’m 17, not a toddler.

Exceptional customer service at this location, thoroughly impressed. Nick was flawless at his job and definitely deserves a raise or promotion. Very reasonable pricing for the value of the gym membership. Other gyms are way too overpriced in my opinion. God bless you all!

Absolutely ridiculous! How can you call it an annual membership when you charge it twice a year and then increase the price without telling me? And now you cant even call to cancel you have to send in a letter? You are taking advantage of people and making it too difficult. You will be receiving a multiple complaints.

Canceled my membership in March thought it was taken care of ,come August, September they’re still taking out money. noticed in October they took out the annual fee for a gym membership I’m not going to use,contacted them by email, I phoned, I sent letter. I want my money! back manager was very confrontational stating I had to jump through hoops to get my money back even though they receive my letter stating I had canceled my membership watch your bank accounts people

This place is very clean, their always cleaning everything!

This location has the types of machines I like. I travel the country year round, and am in a different Planet Fitness every week, so Im, familiar with pretty much every type of machine franchises use. Im also familiar with their practices. NEVER, at any location, have I experienced them shutting down all black card facilities at once for sanitation. Other locations clean the machines one at a time, which one does if she has half a brain, to make the facilities always available to members. It was a real treat to finish my workout and be greeted with NO MASSAGE. This location is also tiny and very overcrowded. Though I see from reviews that they are moving to a new location. EDITED TO RESPOND TO OWNER: I don’t have questions of the franchisee. The club closes down the ENTIRE black card area four times a day for cleaning instead of cleaning the machines one at a time like the rest of the clubs nationwide. It is preposterous and unnecessary. I would never join Planet Fitness if that were my club, or my first experience with your company.

I transferred to this planet fitness and felt no energy there. There are some machines missing here. But overall clean and friendly staff

Great gym and well worth the money. This particular Planet Fitness recently went through a renovation. They replaced all of their weight equipment.Also this fall they are moving to the the old Canton Cinema location on Ford road and it is expected to be very nice with new machines, parking and more room.The staff here are both knowledgeable and very friendly and will help you at any time.The environment is casual and friendly and open to all ages. Definitely recommend this gym.

I’ve lived in multiple cities in the metro Detroit area and I must say, the canton location is like no other. First off, the parking lot is massive. Secondly, they have upgraded their machines to higher end more techy modernized machines. It is a wide open space with tons of room and the best part is, the staff. This location is always immaculate. The bathrooms, showers and floors are always spotless.The friendly staff at the front desk are super accommodating, attentive and reliable. I am so grateful for this location. The vibe in the gym is awesome too. If I could give this location more than 5 stars, I would.

Best gym in canton. Never been a fan of these larger chain gyms but I swear this one makes me feel right at home. Plenty of machines, not over crowded, fantastic staff! Jake was kind enough to help me sign up. Thanks !

An affordable, clean gym with amenities such as hydrobed massage, massage chairs, tanning and more. They offer complimentary classes and instruction. Can be a bit crowded and is not for those among us who prefer the cutting edge of work out tech and more amenities, but is a great value for the more casual fitness routine.

Love the atmosphere here. Very spacious and tons of parking lot space. Never have a far walk to my car. Staff is great and peak times are not that bad once you learn how to adjust to it. Good job, guys!

The staff here have already been SUPER friendly, despite how new and bit understanding I ask about ANY of this. I have never been judged here either. 10/10.

I was surprised at how small this place is. It feels like you are in an oversized storage unit. Just filled with work out equipment and people.Planet fitness are always clean, great price, but I dont think I would purposely go to this one.5 stars for planet fitness in general. 3 for the Canton, I thought it would be bigger.

Such friendly staff! Eager to show me how to use things when I had questions. Very clean bathrooms and locker rooms! Ample parking space and interior room.

Been a member here for a few months after my previous gym shutdown and they honored my contract. Overall I enjoy the gym, the locker room is usually very clean, the staff is friendly and people tend to clean up after themselves when using equipment. My only complaint and it seems to be a common theme Ive noticed is, this gym should have been a little bit bigger to take on such large masses of members who come here.

Overcrowded, seemingly all the time. Small, hot and humid. I opened the door, then closed it and walked away. Planet Fitness needs to make a large enough gym suitable for Canton. Customer service is good though.

I love it. I’m a very small guy. Just trying to get bigger and this place is where I like to go. It is how ever small. But they still got everything you need or want. Treadmills All the way to benches. I would hate to see this location go. It’s close to where I live. And the staff is friendly and they r always cleaning.

This gym is great. Clean, friendly staff, convenient. I wish you could offer even a FEW group classes. I keep hearing about other gyms who have classes and I think they are great for motivating and showing new exercises.

They are very helpful and explain how to use every piece of equipment they have. I asked about the total body enhancement and they told me every part about the experience before I tried it out!

Very clean space and very friendly staff. This location is super spacious and there is TONS of parking! I will definitely be visiting again.

As far as planet fitnesses go, this one is a better one. Its very well it and generally very clean. They need to address the mix of weight machines though, as they have a lot of leg machines that dont get used as much and not enough of more popular machines.

Great gym. Staff is friendly and the place is spotless. The crowd ranges from young teenagers to senior citizens who use a cane to go from one piece of equipment to the next. A true melting pot of people! A true judgement free zone where it is very comfortable to work out at what ever level you are at.

Always open and always clean , everyone minds their own business and doesnt bother you and while the gym is small it has all of the essentials necessary to stay in shape

Nice friendly clean place to workout. Only complaint I have is they dont have enough room or amount of free weights. More than half of the space is cardio equipment, so if thats what your looking for youll love it.

I love this gym! Judgment free. lots of machines. The people who go can be a little annoying holding up the machines, sitting there texting. And the people who stand in front of the mirror just dying forAttention. I love the pf black card perks of getting to use the hydro bed and the massage chair.

Love this place. The staff is friendly and helpful. For 20 bucks a month you cant beat it. Unlimited tanning, hydromessage, and gym. Also I can use any PF I want and bring a friend.

It would be a lengthy review if I got into everything. I just really dont recommend this gym due to disorganization of the way it is run and slim selection of machines. However, they do keep it pretty clean, which is definitely good when it comes to a place known to be a breeding ground for germs such as a gym.

Love this place. Getting back into a healthy me, at my own pace. Clean and friendly ALWAYS!!!

EDITED: The owner reached out, and seemed very sincere.The gym is great, but the guys here are gross. They are so disgusting, and will aggressively stare at you, and talk to you. I am not coming back here, its a shame because the gym is very nice- but the men here are so perverted.

The place is good, but there are not many machines, and dumbbells heavier, many useless machines are repeated. Membership is cheap tho. I would classify it as a beginners gym, people with more than 1 year doing exercise must search for a more professional gym.

This is my home gym that Ive been going to the past 5 years. The place is always clean with very friendly staff. They are moving in the fall to Ford road and ive been told all new cardio and weight training machines will be available

Soon as i walked in they were just really fake didnt speak didnt have me sign in energy just fake will never go to this gym ever again i dont care if its the last one available in town ive been to so many planet fitnesses and this one is by far the worst smh be more genuine stop being fake then as i was walking out i saw them having someone sign in felt judged

My husband and I took our son with us to workout for the very first time. Our son is special needs, and the staff there is just completely WONDERFUL, so polite, courteous and helpful. Had a GREAT workout, it was VERY clean, cant wait to go back!!

I thought they would do something about the congestion in this place instead they are still just Packing people in and not reconfiguring the floor plan for maximum potential. Only *3* free weight bench press stations in the whole gym!! Its a Good deal for $10 a Month but you have to go on really off times if you want to be able to do anything....

This is my new favorite gym, I started going a month ago and Ive had nothing but friendly customer service. The staff is friendly and the gym is very well kept up. After reading some negative comments on the gym I was hesitant on going but Im glad I did because its the best gym Ive been too and Ive been to a lot of different gyms.

Terrible service, terrible manager, terrible crowd, terribly small space. Overall terrible and unfriendly environment. I was hoping to find a new home club, since I just moved to Plymouth. But I guess this just won’t be it. The Livonia one is closer to me and the staff is very friendly there. Overall the Canton location was a huge let down compared to my previous Westland home location. I’m gonna miss it there, just too far away now.

It is a small corner gym with a corporate conglomeration attitude. Very little space to work out and a small selection of machines to use. As soon as you come through the door, they lay on the hard-core sales pitch. Therefore, they have sales people to push memberships, but they are not certified trainers. The Summit’s gym is just as good and is a better overall value as you’ll have access to the pool, basketball courts, and running track. The Summit’s staff is professionals. Spend a few more dollars and Life Time fitness provides a much wider verity of equipment and a much more sophisticated training staff.

Great place. Taylor is a great Manager... always concerned about Guests. Nice stable staff, that is genuinely interested in providing a good work out in a family-friendly, no-judgment atmosphere. People who shine are Tee, Zoey, Corey, Jason, Karen, Kristin, Beth, Khloe, Amber, Evan, Steve... and the rest of the Staff. We cannot forget the Rock of this Place, Raj, the General Manager... who has guided PF-Canton, very well, for the past 5 years.Good Job everyone.

Very boring staff

Staff is very friendly and responsive to everyones needs. Equipment is on par with other PF locations - especially after the renovation. Always a positive experience.

This gym will be moving to a larger location in the fall and I think that will cause my rating to increase. This is not my home PF, but I was in the area so I went to work out here. The space feels a little cramped and like everyone is watching you because of the orentation of the equipment and the layout of the sections. Plus, the 30 min workout is right in the entrance. As people walk in, you are the first thing they see. As someone who is self contious about public work outs, I was not as comfortable here as I was at other PF locations. I will check them out again in the fall.
