I just moved into the area and was recommended by a friend. I called to schedule a first time appointment and was hung up on. I called back and the person was rude and asked to take down my number to call me back. Its been a week with no call back. Left a bad taste in my mouth. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Overcharged by at least 100 percent. For instance shampoo 16 ounces 25 dollars!Cost him maybe five. One ivermectin tablet 25 dollars!( I pay 2 dollars on internet). Sixty three dollars for first exam.Twelve dollars for nail trim. Sixty three for scraping for sarcoptic mange. Then he wanted to see dog back four more times to check on dog’s progress. His groomer said to me over the phone that ounce is usually enough! Then Gary Lainer said to me that he would make an exception in my case to 40 dollars for four weeks . I did the dog myself in lime sulphur bath which he said was no good

While this place does get the job done, this was our experience. We had to park in the lot and call due to covid. We showed up to the appt 15 minutes early. After 30 minutes past appt time we called to check how much longer it would be. 50 minutes after appt time they called and said they didn’t see our car in the parking lot and to come closer to the door because it was raining. We moved to the front spot, and 20 minutes later at 6:10pm we were able to get our cat the vaccine he needed and the actual appt took about 10 minutes. The price was $72 for a 1 year rabies vaccination. Moral of the story, I shouldn’t have had to take off work early to make an appt that was going to run 70 minutes late. Overall, the job got done and it was fine, just inconvenient and a bit pricey.

Dr. Lanier’s Animal Hospital has been the worst veterinary experience for me and my dog. I lasted 3 visits before making the decision to find a vet practice more focused on customer service and care. There wasn’t a single visit they were on time, most times making us wait over 30 minutes (with a dog you know sitting still waiting that long can feel like an eternity) while squeezing in as many rushed visits as possible. Gary Lanier always appeared to be pleasant enough and know what he was talking about, but he’s surrounded by amateurs who you end up dealing with 90% of the visit who are clueless. When it comes to care for my dog I spare no expense, but I feel like I also need to mention the outrageous amount of money he charges for normal visits- and the worst part is they ask for you card and swipe it without telling you how much it will be! I have asked each of my 3 visits what the amount would be and the staff just say ‘we don’t know it’s up to the doctor’, take their time processing the transaction while getting distracted with tasks that will allow them to close on time, and then come out with sickening receipt amounts. The worst part is when you express dissatisfaction, the staff make ZERO attempt to make it right or apologize. For me it was three strikes and they were out- such a shame because I was hopeful since they were so close to me. I wish Dr. Lanier the best but he really needs to find better support for his reputation.

Dr.Lainer is very nice and was great with my dog. We are very lucky to get an appointment right away when my dog had an issue and we had a great experience with her surgery and the staff as well. We have also used the daycare in the past when my dog was younger and needed to run around which was great.

We’ve been bringing our cat Ren here since 2013. The staff are always friendly and understanding that she can be nervous whenever she comes in. We appreciate the separate entries for cats and dogs. The doctor is wonderful. Very nice and obviously knowledgeable and knows his stuff. Highly recommend them for your fur babies. They also have doggie daycare which I’ve never used but it seems like a nice option to have if needed.

Dr. Lainer is outstanding. Solid, friendly and professional staff. High touch service and excellent communication. Been taking our dogs here for 15 years, give-or-take. Dr. Lainer has made many good calls (one of them life saving) in that time. If you are serious about your dog’s health, this is where you should go.

I have had animals all my life and absolutely love Lainer Animal Hospital of Canton. I live about 25 miles from this hospital but happily travel this distance for them on the almost always traffic filled highways of Massachusetts. There are obviously many veterinarians much closer to where I live, but Ill never go anywhere else for my buddies. I want the best vet I can fine, and Ive found that with Dr. Lainer.Dr. Lainer is caring, compassionate, extremely knowledgeable, friendly, patient, extraordinarily ethical, and just a nice guy. He gives me as much time as needed when Im there. I never feel rushed wether its for an annual checkup, or something more urgent.Hes called after visiting for urgent matters to check on the health of my pets. After all...they are part of the family. He always calls back if I call with a question and hes not immediately available. I wish I could get my doctor to do that!Another thing I love about this practice is that there in only Dr. Lainer. No big conglomerate with dozens of vets where you may go for years and never see the same doctor. He knows the history of my animals, which to me is priceless. He knows what medical issues they may have, what medications they may be on, their personalities, and everything else about them. If its something other than a medical issue Dr. Lainer will suggest options how to resolve it.On the medical side, he is thorough, but will only do tests he feels necessary for any particular issue. He doesnt run multiple tests just to increase the bill, just tests that are necessary. Very ethical in my opinion.I cant say enough good things about Lainer Animal Hospital of Canton. I highly recommend using Lainer Animal Hospital of Canton for all your veterinary needs. I promise you will wonder why you didnt go there sooner!

Does not seem interested in promoting an honest and transparent way of doing business. A simple request to get a possible price range - wasnt looking for a commitment - just a range.... for an elective procedure to determine if it was affordable... results in an unpleasant exchange. Wouldnt say if it was hundreds... thousands, or other. Rang very business/profits... not compassionate/healthcare ... not my kind of vet or human. Well go elsewhere... thanks!

We heard about Dr. Lainer through a friend and we have to say, we are very fortunate to have met him, we wish we had met him a long time ago, our fur babies would have benefited a lot more from him for sure. Dr. Lainer is simply extraordinarily, very attentive, very professional, very knowledgeable, very affordable and most of all a true animal lover, he’ll go above and beyond to help your fur babies, if it wasn’t for Dr. Lainer, our Max would have died and he still helping him, he has done so much for our fur babies in just a few months what our old vets of 20 + years didn’t do. We highly recommend Dr. Lainer. We travel about 1 hour to go to Dr. Lainers hospital and its definitely worth every minute. Were very thankful to our friend to have told us about how awesome he was. Dr. Lainer we thank you so much for all you have done and continue to do for our fur babies, may God continue to bless you and your practice. Chirleia & Paul.

So unhappy with the service here. My dog came into contact with a Fox a couple months ago and developed Mange from the interaction. We brought her immediately to Lainer to make sure she was ok. For the last two months she has been uncontrollably itching. Two times she was brought to the vet for the itching the first time wasn’t at lainer but the follow up was. They knew she had already had some treatment for what was thought to be a allergy. Knowing she had been near a fox he should have done a thorough inspection of her skin...he didn’t even look at her! Just gave her steroids which did nothing but make her have diarrhea and feel more horrible. I am so upset it’s taken this long for a diagnosis. Not to mention my 1.5 year old daughter could have gotten it too from hugging the dog.

DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE!!! READ THE BELOW REVIEWS. I also had a horrible experience recently with this vet and will never be going back. Lainer made me feel insignificant after declining some of his services. His prices are sky high and he will push extra unnecessary services at every appointment. Im glad I am making this decision to change vets now as it seems from the below reviews that he becomes less interested in your pet with age especially if you decline testing in your dog’s senior years.

If zero stars was an option I would have chosen zero stars. I’ve been bringing my dog here for ten years and should have stopped and switched vets about 8 years ago after Lainer failed to respond to an overnight emergency that my dog had even though he supposedly offers emergency service at his animal hospital. I gave him the benefit of doubt at the time. I recently had another horrible experience at Lainers and will not be bringing my dog back. I strongly suggest you look elsewhere for veterinary services as Lainer is a greedy and seemingly heartless vet that wants nothing to do with you or your pet unless your willing to cough up unnecessary amounts of money every single time you walk through the door.

I have been going to Dr. Lainer for 23 yrs and I would not even think about or want to go to another vet. Dr.Lainer makes me feel as if my best friend is the only patient he sees. Dr.Lainer is very thorough with me and he takes all the time with me no matter how many questions and makes sure I do not leave unless I fully understand requirements that are needed on my part for the health of my best friend. Dr.Lainer does very well with me being hysterical and has the best bedside manner so that he is able to deal with me and care for my girl, altho she gets a treat for being good,I do not. I get a return phone call immediately. I get an appointment that day. Dr. Lainer will call to find out how my best friend is doing. Dr. Lainer does not immediately go for the expensive tests. He likes to try the simply test first so as not to cause any unnecessary expenses or discomfort for my best girl.Dr. Lainer is very candid which I respect as I do not want to be kept in the dark. I want to know every possible outcome and what the solution will be for that outcome. Dr. Lainer is very easy to talk to and I am not intimidated,my girl is not either which is great because the last thing I want is my girl to be excited, anxious, nervous especially if she is not feeling well. Dr. Lainer knows my best friends medications, history and everything else without needing the chart. My Dr does not know mine. I feel very safe and I know nothing is done to my child that the Dr. himself would not do on his.Dr.Lainer has never once been short with me,he carries a smile with him Everytime he enters the room, and immediately he listens to the symptoms and usually has a pretty good idea of what is the matter. I fully trust Dr.lainer will do everything and anything for my best friends health and to get her back to being good as new. If only he would remember she does not catch treats very well, but most importantly,he has never once stopped trying. A day after coming home from the vet all relaxed and starting to feel better thank you Dr.Lainer. Love,Smokie

I have been visiting this vetinarian clinic for 26 years. One hamster, two cats and two golden retrievers. I highly recommend this practice. As with our own children, we choose the best for our pets. The relationship with the doctor is critical. It needs to be one of trust: expertise, ability to make difficult diagnosis, efficiency, promptness, follow-up, and emotional support. I have all of these in this practice.Dr Lainer is direct and forthright. He will tell you what is best for your pet, even though it may be tough to hear. He listens to concerns and works with you, respecting your personal decisions. In two cases, my family decided not to perform extraordinary measures for two pets: Dr. lainer could not have been kinder: I received flowers and a personal note from Dr Lainer in these instances.Staff people come and go. Cut people slack on the learning curve!!!!! My dog can’t wait to jump into the car for doggie day care once a week. She adores her handler!!!In terms of cost, quality pet care insurance is expensive. Invest in pet insurance. You get what you pay for and even though my pets have cost me a pretty penny, Dr Lainer is no more expensive than any other vet.Dr Lainer’s Years of experience mean he doesn’t jump the gun or panic, but he also can spot a problem early on.I am so grateful my pets have this attention and care and that I have a vet and staff who support me

I had taken my chocolate lab Rocky to MD Lanier for the past 7 years. During his final weeks I called the office distraught 3 Times as he began to fail for guidance about what to do. MD Lanier could not have been less supportive. He called back once, left a message and failed to respond beyond that. As seen in previous comments it seemed once I wasn’t willing to do tests in my elderly lab he wasn’t interested in Rocky anymore. At a time when we needed him most he failed us miserably. He ignored us in our time of need which is inexcusable. This is not the place for any animal or family who wants their pet family member to receive compassionate, supportive care. Very sad and disappointing.

I have to say I would agree with most of these comments up until today. I am mortified beyond words that Dr Lainer was a coward and had his assistant send me on my merry way with my 18 YEAR golden with out being able to fill her prescription of pain meds because I refused to do unnecessary blood work. He couldnt just do the necessary lab that would be needed to test the liver for the Rimadly he wanted to do a SENIOR lab that was not necessary and a lot more money. My dog Sunnie is amazing. I am trying to keep her comfortable in her final days/ months. If I were to do blood work and something came back positive of something I would not be treating it anyway. She is 18 and has lived a long and VERY HAPPY life. Dr Lainer is leaving today to take the month of February off so I am sure he doesnt NEED my money that I dont have. He is being what I would say cruelty to an animal that is in her final days and refused to even exam her with out making a buck to take on vacation..Thanks Dr Lainer, when I am out of medicine and my dog is really suffering and i have to put her down not because it was time but because my vet refused to give pain medicine I will think of you. I am also sorry to the people that I have referred to you and hope they do not reach the same situation I did today.
