Our son was approximately 5-6 years old when he unfortunately developed an abscessed tooth that required extraction. We took him to a different dentist to address this and it was the worst experience of his little life thus far. We took him to help him, not traumatize him! In addition to that, they quoted us an astronomical amount of work that needed done to his teeth, in addition to placing a spacer where the extraction occurred. Without unnecessary further detail, I consulted a dear friend of mine who is an EFDA, and hands down without hesitation, “take him to Stephen Girdlestone in Canton.”We did. And have never once regretted it. Dr. Girdlestone is kind, patient, and educates parents and his little patients on what is going to need to be done. His staff are so kind as well. (And our son loves the video games in the waiting room ha-ha). Not long after our visit and corrective appointments for our son, he face planted on ice playing hockey and his two front teeth wedged in the ice. Off to the local ER we went. Dr. Girdlestone was available to speak with the ER doc and guide us what to do next.Following our sons first experience with a different dentist/office, he cried non-stop when it was a dental visit day because he was so afraid. Since that first traumatic experience, he has only seen Dr. Girdlestone and it did take patience and dedication, but today (our son is 9 now) he left me in the waiting room and said, “it’s okay, mom, we got this. I’ll let you know if I need you.” THAT speaks volumes!! He got his teeth cleaned, fluoride applied, the spacer removed and returned to me in the waiting room smiling and good-to-go!This office is beyond incredible and built a relationship with our child based on kindness, gentle/understanding, and has accomplished the ultimate. Our son’s trust.Truly wonderful practice all-around!

They make the kids feel so comfortable with their friendly demeanor, compassion and gentleness. My youngest daughter just turned 12 and has been going to Dr. Steve since she was 3! The staff is always pleasant and they take special care to make the kids (whatever age they are) feel safe and comfortable. If you want your kids to love going to the dentist, this is the office for you!

I absolutely adore Dr. Girdlestone! My daughter was 3 when she had to have 3 teeth taken out and he was so calm and took his time with the whole procedure. We got to be right there next to her the whole time and he even checked on her before we left the office. Hes a great dentist and excellent with children. This is truly his calling and you can tell by the care he provides that he really loves what he does. I would recommend him to anyone 🙂

Absolutely fabulous experience for my sons first tooth extraction. He was terrified going into it, but he was trying hard to mask it. But by the end he told me how much he loved the dentist office even after getting a tooth pulled.

The Dr. and his staff are excellent! We called with an emergency, as my son had almost knocked his front permanent tooth completely out, and they told us to bring him in immediately. They were ready for him as soon as we got there and worked on him for 1.5hrs and saved his tooth! Absolutely Outstanding service and quality.

Our first visit there could not have gone better. I was impressed—they were on time, clean, had great attention to detail, and both the environment and staff were very kid-friendly. All three of my kids were seen in a room where there were three chairs, I could engage with all of them simultaneously, and we were out the door in about an hour. Great Dentist for kids

My child loves going to Dr. GIRDLESTONES office. He likes all the special treatments such as picking out what video to watch, the sunglasses, the pillow under his knees and the blanket. He likes being independent in a safe environment (he just happens to have a few special needs.) He loves the prize room at the end. The staff is very professional. They take the time to reschedule appointments to help better serve our needs.

Staff is friendly and Dr. Girdlestone is very gentle. My 8 year old son had to have a few teeth pulled and had no idea when he did it. When they showed him the teeth he couldnt believe it had already happened!

My 6 year old needed extensive work done and after a failed attempt at a regular dentist because son didn’t cooperate at all. We were referred to Dr Girdlestone and decided a conscious sedation was the best route for my child with the amount of work he needed. Naturally, I was a wreck but they were caring and patient with him. Their office is completely geared towards children and earning their trust to build a great patient/doctor relationship. They went above and beyond to keep my little one calm and relaxed during the entire procedure that was over 2 hours. Dr Girdlestone and his staff took their time, explained everything to my son in a way he would understand and were patient and calm with him throughout the entire appointment. I can’t say express enough how much I appreciate them going above and beyond. When we walked out of his office my little one was smiling and happy and confident in himself.

Amazing! My 7 year old had a lot of dental work at another clinic when she was 3 and it was a very traumatic experience for her. She now gets extremely anxious at the dentist, but Dr Girdlestone has been soooooo patient with her everytime she comes in. And she is not always easy to handle there at times. My son has special needs and the staff are very patient and reassuring with him.

We took our son to have dental work. After the procedure we paid a “decent” amount of money and have the paper by the front desk worker showing account as “zero.”A little time goes by and we receive a bill stating we owe even more money. Lets just say even tho I have the papers that say “account zero” i was still put into collections. That bill has since been zeroed.Fast forward to now. We have another kid who needed to see a pediatric specialist. We called. Made an appointment. Well today we received a call saying “becauae that went to collections my OTHER son was discharged and per policy no other of my kids can be seen.”So my wife and I went online to their policy. And what is NOT LISTED anywhere is this rule about “because something was placed in collections no other kids can be seen.”Well lets keep going with their policy. In BOLD it states under patient financial policy “IT IS OUR POLICY TO MAKE DEFINATE FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS WITH YOU BEFORE ANY TREATMENT STARTS.”So tell me why I had an additional bill AFTER my treatment and after I paid the amount I paid if their policy states “DEFINATE”.We know a lot of kids and will NOT be referring any of our friends or their children here because I dont think they will like prejudisim either.

Ive been taking my girls here for ten years. We went somewhere else once for insurance reasons and decided we would rather pay out of pocket than go anywhere else. You wont find anyone in any profession that has a better report with kids than Dr. Girdlestone.
