Trash. Have had many interactions at this hospital that were far less than satisfactory. Staff had poor attitudes and they missed things that even I could see on X-ray. This was all in the past when it was “Mercy” and not “Munson”.Today I had a new experience.I understand that the ER doesn’t let visitors in because of covid. I understand that they are busy. But illegal I don’t understand is how being rude to me when I call for an update is acceptable when I have been nothing but polite. I did talk to one person who was good and answered my questions though. Credit goes to Scott in the ER; you deserve a better employer.

Im new to this Google review thing, but in Nov of 1999, I went in for a simple Gallbladder surgery and nearly died, its a long horrible nightmare of a story that no one has time to hear, and now Im paying the price with my Kidneys as a result of it I believe and I believe I was lied to by my surgeon. If I could Id give you no stars....I lived in pain for years and hell for what he did and you all helped him cover it up.

Honestly worst experience I’ve ever had at any hospital I’ve ever been too. I had severe pain in my back and left leg so I came in to get checked out the nurses were very condescending and rude I even had a nurse deny me a wheel chair as I was leaving “cause I don’t have one at home” which was very rude and unprofessional. If I could give this hospital zero stars I would honestly. The only people who were kind were the ladies that checked me in and the lady who gave me my medications. I was in the ER Fri. Nobody listened to me. I was verbally and almost physically attacked by a male nurse for requesting my port be removed after he stated they were discharging me. He threw a paper on my bed n said I had to sign it.. reading it, it stated that I was leaving against medical advice.. NOT TRUE! He then lunges at my arm to remove the port and I pushed him away. My needs and concerns were not heard or addressed by any of the staff and I went home in worse shape than when I went in (5 blown veins). I regrettably returned today to try to get help for my main reason for being there the first time.. was promptly put in a room and left for 45 mins and saw not one person. Less than 1/2 the beds occupied, the waiting room completely empty. This time I did get dressed and leave. This testimony stands as my medical power of attorney.. if I am dieing do not take me to this hospital! If I could give no stars or -⭐⭐⭐⭐I sure would!

After going somewhere else I found out its embedded into my uterus 😭 ladies dont go to the ER for IUD removals. Also after traveling I saw over loaded our hospitals are yet Sunday night Cadillac was dead. We need to trust out local ER. I also understand this also depends on they resources and technology they have.

The billing department was rude. I am a Veteran and my medical service was set up by the VA. The billing department would not listen to reason. I had to have the VA call at least twice to straighten things out. They kept calling and asking me to pay for services the VA had authorized. The person who answer the phone for the hospital treated me like a non-human. I have asked the VA to never send me for services at Cadillac hospital again. It’s a shame because the medical staff was great!!! The person who answers the main phone for the hospital should never be allowed to talk to people

Came in with my pregnant fiance, they diagnosed her with bronchitis. Respiratory techs took at least an hour to get there, they had to call them repeatedly. Once they finally came, no nebulizer treatment, just an albuterol inhaler. Gone within 10 seconds. They didnt tell x-ray shes pregnant, told us they could cover the baby up before the x-ray then the x-ray techs told is the covers are actually bad. Finally, they prescribed her prednisone which apparently is bad to take during pregnancy and can even induce pre-term labor (shes 36 weeks). As if thats not bad enough, we got home and did some research and found out prednisone doesnt even help with bronchitis, it helps with asthma. Fantastic staff. Great work.

Dr. Hess and her staff were great with him and me, they checked in on us frequently and made him comfortable until they could set his appointment arm. Very impressed with the quality of care we received.Edit: I wanted to add that because of the staff my sons arm does not require surgery! We are more than thrilled and so thankful!

This place is deplorable at best. I am only leaving 1 star because it is required, but would prefer not to leave any. The ER nurses have no idea what they are doing and should NOT be treating patients in any capacity whatsoever. My brother who recently had a colonoscopy with limited instructions on how to change the bag, had a horrible infection and the bag blew up, literally exploded. There was not a single nurse in the ER that knew how to change a colostomy bag!! BEWARE!! DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU NEED LIFE SAVING TECHNIQUES!!

Wouldnt trust this place with my dog. Third floor nurses have NO idea what theyre doing. Staff is friendly enough but friendliness only gets you so far when youre dealing with peoples health. Yes, Manistee Munson and Traverse might be further from you but its worth it if you want better care than what this below-mediocre excuse of a hospital has to offer. My husband has recently went into the Oncology department for the past 9 months. What a fantastic group of employees. From the receptionist , nurses and Dr. Word the Oncologist. There is not enough stars to rate this hospital. Last December the ambulance brought my mother in and she died in the ER. I would have never gotten through losing my mother if it wasnt for the compassion of the entire staff. A few months later I brought my dad to the ER and he was admitted for breathing problems. Of course the treatment to my dad from the ER staff was no different than before.. It was so much caring and compassion to him. Once he got to the floor the PCA and the Nurses were so much concerned about him as we were. As you can tell Im the one that would say to anyone. I would for sure come to this hospital and send my family as well. Keep up the good work.

This is the second time in a few years I’ve gone to the hospital in the middle of the night while we are visiting for vacation. Today I tried my hardest to wait to go to the clinic when they opened but was up all night with a full blown bladded infection and in extreme pain and discomfort. The woman at check in were so kind and fast at getting me back, no sooner did I have a bracelet on and the Nurse was already bringing me back and taking a sample from me to test it. I checked in at 5:20am and was discharged with antibiotics and bladder relief medicine by 6:30. The doctor was thorough and fast and a few hours later I’m already starting to feel better. 10/10 recommend and they were so kind and understanding even though I kept telling them I know this isn’t an emergency and I tried my best to wait for the walk in clinic to open but It was un bearable and I was up all night in pain. After a couple tests the doctor determined that my gallbladder was perfectly fine, so he ran a few more tests to find out what was wrong. Come to find out, it was a severe stomach ulcer. What impressed me the most was that he didnt just let me go after finding out it wasnt my gallbladder, that he cared enough and took the time to find out why I wasnt well. Not only was the doctor caring and professional, but the nurses too.I dont understand the bad reviews for this hospital. I went in for a MRI. Everywhere online claimed that I didnt need to remove my titanium daith piercings for a MRI scan on my brain. That is not correct and they had to come out. This would be the first time they would have been removed and made me quite anxious. One was still quite sore. My radiologist Stacie (sp?) was nice enough to help me and even nicer when she sought someone with daith piercing experience. Beth! Nurse Beth (A. I think)! I cannot thank her enough for coming to my rescue; For pulling them out of my head, for pretty much carrying me to a chair, for sticking around to put them back in, and for guiding me to the front doors. I feel awful for running out on our conversation there at the end. Im sure we woulda been friends. Youre definitely my hero! lol. Thanks again Beth! By the way, my piercing has never felt this good. Best ER experience ever! We were vacationing in the Cadilac area from out of town, when my elderly mother contracted a respiratory virus. We went to Cadilac Hospital ER and the ER administration staff quickly took her med info, and was courteous and patient even when my mom didn’t know her social security number. Thankyou Bev for your kindness and professionalism! The nursing staff brought her quickly into the exam room with only a few minutes to wait in the waiting room. My mother was frustrated with herself that she didn’t have her medication and allergy list available (due to all her info is in another hospital system out of town) but that didn’t deter the nurses to kindly, respectfully and patiently acquire the information they needed to care for her. The Dr was also professional, kind, attentive and thorough as he ordered an X-ray of her lungs. A respiratory specialist also came to help teach my mother how to use her inhaler (that was previously prescribed by the primary physician back home) and the therapist answered all my Mother’s questions exceeding our expectations. While we waited in the exam room for the X-ray results , a hospital volunteer graciously asked if we needed anything, she directed me to the restroom and then later brought me fresh hot coffee!! The X-ray report came back quickly and the Dr prescribed the appropriate medication and encouraged my mother if she didn’t feel better in 2 days to come back. In all we were at the hospital 2 hours which actually didn’t seem that long. Very impressed, again it’s about the caring professional people! 5 Stars!! 😃👍

I was admitted to Munson Healthcare Cadillac twice in the last six months, My first visit was in November for emergency surgery, and I was in there for about ten days. The staff was kind and helpful, and after three weeks in rehab I returned home. I was again admitted again in late January for a sudden illness, taken to the hospital by ambulance. I did not have a chance to take my medication list, but told the staff they should have it on record, and I knew what I took,, a combination of three pills. A nurse told she got my records, and went over the list with me. The list of medications she had was a long list of meds, including synthroid, depakote, and dilantin. I told her I was not prescribed any of these pills. The staff continued to pass me some of these meds, particularly the depakote for the next three days, even though I told them I had not been prescribed it, asking me if I were refusing it. I felt I wasnt being taken seriously, and felt patronized. I was also told that the depakote was on the list I had to ask them to have my PCP send over. I asked for a copy of the list they sent over. Depakote was not on that list. This kind of error should NEVER happen. If I had been in an accident or unconscious and not able to speak for myself, I would have been given a cocktail of drugs that would have affected my moods, caused tremors, and a host of other adverse side effects. I am thankful I had the ability to always ask what medication the nurse was trying to pass me instead of blindly taking the pills just because they brought them in .

Beware medical price gouging.Buyer beware. When you have a medical emergency, it’s not often the time to check your hospital or facility to see if you are getting the best prices. Your main goal is taking care of the emergency in a timely fashion and prevent further injury. Many times, it is difficulty to ascertain whether you are getting a good deal or not. Many of us just hope for the best when the bill comes. Well, last March, I had an emergency. I went to an in network urgent care because of a sore throat, and ended up being sent to an ENT for an emergent tonsillar drainage of a peritonsillar abscess. I tried to be referred to an ENT in our medical network, but no one was available. I ended up going to an out of network hospital and doctor for this procedure. Two weeks later, I needed a tonsillectomy. Not wanting to start over with another physician in another region we decided to stick with the ENT that did the tonsillar drainage. It was pre approved with our medical sharing company even though it was out of network. We hoped for the best. The hospital experience was fine, and I have no complaints about any of the medical staff. Everything went according to procedure, I was discharged shortly after my stay. Two months later, we started receiving bills and it wasn’t pretty. I paid the surgeon promptly, her fees more than reasonable. The hospital on the other hand wasn’t. I was charged $6700 for 23 minutes in an operating room. Reasonable and customary charges, i.e. charges that a major insurance provider like Blue Cross would pay were about $3000. All of this information is easily accessible through medical blue book and google. What’s worse is that Cadillac hospital is in the Munson network and our insurance provider is accepted in every Munson hospital but Cadillac and Grayling. We petitioned, called people higher up and even worked with a medical bill negotiator. Apparently, Munson Cadillac is in the 3% of hospitals that don’t come to a settlement with our medical bill negotiator. If you have good insurance, good for you. If you don’t, stay clear of the Munson network. They have no trouble charging more than double to a private paying person on a small income than they would to an insurance agency. Lesson learned, drive south for any medical issues and bypass the Munson system for good!
