I absolutely recommend this company! Elaine is amazing and I love her training methods. We are only halfway through our class and my 9 month old German Shepherd is heeling so well. I know a bit about training on my own, but Elaine has taught me so much already! My dog is much more well behaved and his engagement is improving everyday. She does send you home with a goal to come back and show. So be prepared to actually learn and teach your dog some awesome stuff. I will definitely be back!

Ive only been in one beginner obedience class so far, but I have been to and used many training facilities and trainers over the years. I can tell I am going to be very happy with the class. Due to COVID-19, class sizes are smaller than usual. I cant say I would be as happy with it if they were running a full sized class. The number of dogs and distance were able to maintain now seems appropriate. More dogs makes me think the experience would be much less positive with only one trainer and the noise that comes with more dogs and people. I expect hearing even without masks in this facility can often be an issue. I would most likely deduct stars under those conditions. Im excited for the class and to really see how Tails Up functions, as I expect to have my puppy in training for years before hes exactly what I want.

My golden retriever puppy and I had a wonderful experience taking Puppy Kindergarten at Tails Up! The instructors were so knowledgeable, helpful and puppy loving. They knew every puppys name by the 2nd class. If one technique didnt work, they were right there suggesting another method to try. The individual attention to each puppy and owner was just awesome ! Informative, weekly handouts made learning the the new skills and practice during the week very manageable. My puppy especially loved the opportunity to socialize and play with his new friends each week. I highly recommend Tails Up Dog Training!

After a bad experience at a different popular dog training company, Ive been taking my now 1 year golden doodle to Tails Up Dog Training ever since! Archie has completed Puppy Kindergarten, Dog Obedience 1, Intermediate Dog Obedience, Agility and hes now enrolled in a Tricks class. I LOVE the instructors--ALL of them!! I especially appreciate their commitment to keeping all dogs safe. Something that was not a priority at the first dog training company we took classes with. Because of an aggressive puppy experience (not my puppy) I switched to Tails Up and Bonnie was able to help us work with our puppy so that he would no longer be fearful of other dog. Its been a positive experience and I would highly recommend!!

Addie is a year and half and she is now a Therapy Dog! We do the drop- in class to keep both of us up to date. The staff does an excellent job of working with you and your dog. They answer all your questions and even though they have answered the same question over and over they dont believe in a stupid question.I am so glad we found Tails Up it has definitely worked for us.

We brought both of our dogs here (5 years apart) and had an awesome experience each time. Our dog Jill did Beginning Obedience and Storm did Puppy Kindergarten, Puppy Agility and Beginning Obedience. Puppy agility was definitely our favorite! Just wish there were more agility classes offered at Tails Up! Our dogs were SO EMBARRASSING on day 1, I seriously thought we would be kicked out....but by the end they were attentive, well behaved (most of the time :) ) and wanting to learn more. The instructors are SO PATIENT and are happy to help. I highly recommend!

I recently completed three Tails Up Dog Training classes with my lab puppy: puppy kindergarten, tricks, and beginning obedience. The instructors we had were all very knowledgeable and explained the training exercises clearly, with demonstrations. If I needed extra help or had questions, they made sure I understood and felt comfortable with the homework. My puppy loved the format of kindergarten (obedience, plus intro to different obstacles), so we just kept taking more classes! If you haven’t tried a tricks class, this is a great one to further bond with your dog - lots of fun! The beginning obedience class covered essential, practical commands. We’ve had a great experience and highly recommend Tails Up for anyone wanting to work on puppy manners, puppy bonding, and practical dog obedience! We’ll definitely be back!

I brought our current dog Sadie to Tails Up Dog Training as we had just rescued her and at 3 years old, she hadnt had much training or consistency in her life. They offered a class that was specific to dogs that were not puppies, but still needed a beginner training class. I have taken dog trainings in other states with other dogs, and this was by far the best experience I have had yet. The staff and trainers are both friendly and knowledgeable. They provide guidance and training for your dogs that is easy to understand and easy to be consistent with. I also believe they strike an incredible balance of being fair and loving the dog, but also reiterating the importance of being consistent with discipline and training. I would highly recommend Tails Up whether you have a new puppy or a just a dog thats new to you. They are absolutely wonderful!

I would recommend Tails Up to everyone. They also have training collars and other items available for purchase at reasonable prices and total convenience.

After adopting our high-energy female yellow lab, we signed up for Basic Obedience Class at Tails Up. The staff and their training methods were so effective and fun that we went on to complete Intermediate Obedience and the Canine Good Citizen Title. Learning to effectively communicate with our dog makes it more fun to do things together at home and when were out.Weve trained at other facilities in the twin cities over the years, but our experience at Tails up has been by far most positive of all. Our dog loves going to school there and we do too. Tails Up staff encourages questions about individual behavioral challenges and provides great practical advice on overcoming them. They are positive coaches for dog owners and dogs.Next, we will be working on therapy dog training with Tails Up. Our highest recommendations go to them.

We have researched dog training places for two months before we’ve got our Mini American Shepherd puppy. We settled on two places with the “Tails Up Dog Training” being the one for the obedience training. Our goal was to have puppy trained and keep her occupied, preventing boredom. We started taking puppy kindergarten class at the “Tails Up Dog Training” with Nicki when she was just 12 weeks old. It was very helpful, especially given that she had problems being very shy, insecure and overly excited. In the next seven months we have completed many more classes – beginning and intermediate obedience, tricks classes, etc. We happened to take classes with four different instructors – all of them being very professional and very helpful, answering owners’ questions during and after the classes. Nicki has changed so much in that time! She has worked out some of her character problems, got more confident and benefited from training in so many ways.Being less than 11 months old, Nicki got her AKC “Trick Dog Novice” title and passed her “Canine Good Citizen” test! “Official” achievements aside, just being able to walk in the neighborhood with your dog, when it calmly walks next to you without pulling on the leash is a great feat! All people at the “Tails Up Dog Training” – owner, instructors, helpers seem to be striving to help you and your dog succeed. We would definitely recommend “Tails Up Dog Training” to everyone who wants to give their dogs training and socialization, and wants to bring the structure and goal in their lives.

After tiring of power struggles for three years with my female GSD/Border Collie mix, I finally swallowed my pride and asked for help at Tails Up. I enrolled Zoe in Beginning Obedience was so impressed I followed up immediately with Intermediate Obedience. Kori and her staff are patient and helpful. I felt comfortable asking stupid questions and received useful, practical advice that has made life at home so much better with my too-smart-for-her-own-britches girl. While occasional power struggles are still a part of my daily life with my dog, I feel more confident in addressing them. (And I win more often.) Their tips were pragmatic and immediately effective. Honestly, I am not interested in competition-quality obedience; Im interested in enjoying a pleasant lifestyle with a dog that is relaxing to have around and enjoyable to be with. I found Tails Up to be exactly what I needed. (I know they do the super-advanced stuff really well, too.) Zoes most recent classroom experience was successful completion of Canine Good Citizenship certification. Now Im proud to walk her in the neighborhood and I even bring her to the office for a visit now and then, too. Thank you, Kori, and the entire team at Tails Up!

As someone who loves dogs and has shown them in several performance venues, I have been training at Tails Up Dog Training since 2013. I was already familiar with their style of training and came to believe they could help me achieve my goals with my dogs over the long haul. However, over the course of time I see that they are able to help people with both long-term and short-term goals. Their love of dogs and respect for individual owners and families shines through in the broad range of services they provide, from teaching basic manners and living room tricks to working through more complex behavior problems and coaching competition obedience performance at an elite level. They bring a level of professionalism to dog training in our area which makes me proud to say I have learned from the best!

We adopted a dog from the humane society in April 2012. I started dog training with her when she was 7 months old. She has been a very challenging dog to train. Kori has been excellent with helping me to work with her to make her a well trained dog! We made it through basic obedience and did great! We then went on to do a tricks class, which was very fun and did puppy agility - which is where my dog seems to excel. I am going to show her in a 4H dog show in a few weeks and Kori has been helping me to refine the basic obedience skills with my dog. I cant wait to see how she does! We will eventually take the intermediate obedience class with Kori.Everyone here that we have had as a trainer has been great. They are all professional and offer good tips to help each person out with their individual needs with their pet.We would definitely recommend them for ALL of your dog training needs.

Ive taken four classes with our Golden Retriever, starting with puppy kindergarten, then puppy agility, basic obedience, and now intermediate obedience with the Canine Good Citizen component. The classes are very helpful for us dealing with a big dog who has no idea how big she is. The trainers have very practical advice for dealing with unwanted behaviors. They have a great deal of love for dogs and experience with dog training which are both good things that they bring to the classes. I have enjoyed the classes and learned a lot, and the dog cant wait to get out of the car when we arrive so she must like them, too.

I just had my first class tonight at Tails Up Dog Training. So far I’m wishing that I’d gone back to my local pet supply store where I went for my last obedience class. At the supply store, they limited the class size to 5 dogs so that everyone could have a lot of one on one attention. At Tails Up, there are 14 dogs in my class and only 1 instructor. The attention I got in class was very brief and if you or your dog aren’t understanding something, there isn’t a lot of time to ask questions with roughly 28 other humans to compete with. Classes are located in a large warehouse that is broken up into 3 different training areas. Our instructor was attempting to yell loud enough so that we could hear her over the other 2 classes and occasional dog noise, but it was still very hard to hear.Tails Up also has supplies for sale, some of which they require you to buy. Before signing up for a class, I read through their website and their class policies and guidelines; I thought that they were reasonable. When I got to class tonight, I was told that I was required to use a leather leash. The explanation was that it would be more comfortable for me to use and for the instructor to use if they needed to take control of my dog. Nylon leashes were called uncomfortable and banned from class. I also found out that I would need a training collar, either a prong or Martindale. These things would be required in the next class and were “conveniently” for sale right there at Tails Up. I don’t think a leather leash is any better than a nylon leash. They both have pros and cons to them and I think it should be left up to personal preference, but I digress. The trainer made sure to tell us that we are welcome to buy these items anywhere, but that they do have them available in house. Why this isn’t listed on their class policies list or anywhere else on their website is strange to me. I think that people should know that when they pay for the cost of the class, they aren’t finished paying. It makes me wonder what I will be required to buy next week.

I signed up for the obedience beginner class. I didnt feel welcomed. My dog is a barker and instead of helping they just wanted to spray him with cinnamon or water. Also I felt the class was too large and my dog didnt get much attention. The instructor stepped on the collar to have him lay down. The ring holding his name tag, rabies broke and she didnt apologize or anything. I stopped going and didnt finish the class.

We had our dog Leo and I go through two levels of training. He is a very challenging dog by nature but was very well behaved during classes. Thanks to the training he is becoming a very well mannered dog. We had company over last night and I told him to lay down in a corner and he stayed put for a good 30 minutes until I told him it was ok to get up. Afterwards he was very calm around the company. All of this at just 10 months of age thanks to the Tails Up Training.

We recently brought home a new Chocolate Lab puppy, Reagan. After a couple months of dog-ownership, we realized that we just werent equipped and knowledgeable enough to provide the proper training to her. After spending some time searching the internet for local dog trainers, I stumbled upon Tails Up Dog Training.I sent an email inquiry and heard back very quickly from Kori. She did a great job at explaining to me what options I had when it came to bringing Reagan in. We decided that we would sign her up for the Puppy Jumpstart classes, to be completed prior to her Beginning Obedience courses. As of this week, we have gone through both of the two individual sessions included in the Puppy Jumpstart course. Kori worked with us through a few of the common issues she sees in labs, as well as a couple of concerns we had. She was able to provide us with some exercises to complete at home and stressed how important consistent training is.Overall, we have been extremely pleased with our experience thus far. Were looking forward to beginning the obedience class next month.

We love Tails Up! And, perhaps even more importantly, so do our three French Bulldogs! We reached out to Tails Up when we were experiencing some pretty significant behavioral issues with our little “gang of three” – behavioral issues that threatened to break up the group. From our very first conversation, Kori sought to really understand the issues and provided expert advice that was thoughtful, actionable, and realistic. We have received the same professional and committed guidance from her entire team from that day forward. We have participated in several of the classes that Tails Up offers: Beginning Obedience, Intermediate Obedience, and the Tricks class. We learned so much in each of these sessions and had a lot of fun doing it. The experience was great for the Frenchies, too. We adopted all of them as adults, and we realized that in addition to basic obedience, our little “rescues” really needed socialization, too. The interactions with us and with the instructors and entire staff of Tails Up provided that! Everyone associated with the organization is so knowledgeable, so dedicated to helping all dogs and their people, and so much fun – it has been a pleasure for all of us to get to know everyone! (And the Frenchies even gained a new “auntie” out of the experiences!)We can’t recommend Tails Up strongly enough! The whole team is fabulous to work with! They helped us hold our little Frenchie Family together and for that we are beyond grateful!

We love Tails up! Kori(the owner), Diane and all the staff trainers really know what they are doing. One look at how they are with their own dogs and you know you have come to the right place. They use positive reinforcement to train the dogs and lots of one-on-one time with all owners and their dogs. Ive found it very easy to get tips specific to my dogs needs. I have seen all types of dogs learn here...big, little, really big, really little, happy, cranky, antsy, etc!I originally wanted to teach my dog some tricks, but was so impressed with the variety of classes offered that we started with Beginner Obedience. I loved it, my dog Enzo (3 1/2 yr old Shih Chon) loved it and we had so much fun learning together. He has now completed the Intermediate Obedience, earned his Canine Good Citizen Certificate and just started the tricks class (so fun!). This from a dog who my husband previously thought was a cute, fluffy oaf! This spring we will continue with agility classes and perhaps some training to become a therapy dog.Enzo gets really antsy in the winter and these classes stimulate his body and his mind. And the same happens when you continue to practice at home.Enzo and I have learned so much!!!! I never imagined he could do the things he does now. Thanks Tails Up!!!!
