Im not sure where to begin. My wife and I were forced to find a new optometrist because our insurance changed. I searched the directory and found Thomas Eye Group near our home. September 30th, 2021 My 10yr old daughter and my wife was scheduled to see Dr. Phaup and myself and my 10yr old son was scheduled to see a different doctor. Unexpectedly me and my son appt. was canceled the same day due to the Dr. having a family emergency. I immediately called the office to try to have my appt scheduled with my family and Dr. Phaup was open to seeing my family of 4. We arrived at 3pm and was greeted by two pleasant office employees. We proceeded to complete the new patient paperwork and was informed Thomas Eye Group has a patient rule where you have to opt to have your eyes dilated (every patient) I was not in agreement with not having an option to say no and my kids having their eyes dilated as we were given a choice at our previous provider. My wife and daughter were seen first and all went well, myself and my son went last. After my eyes were dilated, Dr. Phaup proceeded to look at my eyes and saw something in the back of my eye. I opt out of having the film of my eye but Dr. Phaup proceeded to take the film just out of concern for me. After the film was taken Dr. Phaup saw something very concerning and immediately took my blood pressure. My blood pressure was stroke level high and Dr. Phaup recommended I go to Urgent Care ASAP. After monitoring my BP, Urgent Care was the next stop. Dr. Phaup did something Ive never seen a Dr. do EVERRRRRR. He ask my wife to take our children home and he will monitor my pressure until she return. When my wife returned my BP was still high so off the Urgent Care we went. Dr. Phaup left his practice and followed us to Urgent Care. I was seen immediately by a nurse and Dr. Phaup went to the back with me and my wife stayed in the lobby due to COVID Restrictions. My BP remained high and I was immediately sent to ER for care. Dr. Phaup did not go to the ER with us however he did extend his services again by writing a note in my wifes phone to show to the ER Personnel when we arrived. When I arrived in ER, I was seen STAT. I stayed in ICU for 2 days because my BP remained high. Because of quick action from Dr. Phaup and his amazing staff going ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure I was going to be ok, my wife and I are forever grateful for his expertise, his willingness to take extra test to look into my eye, caring enough to speak to the Drs on my behalf and ensuring I was ok even after he left us. He called & texted my wife on several occasions to check on my and my family. I am a believer and I know Dr. Phaup was sent to us by GOD to orchestrate this entire process as he knew this was going to happen, GOD did not want me to worry. I am on my way to a new and healthy lifestyle. If you are looking for an Optometrist in the Gwinnett area who goes above and beyond, who is very passionate about his work, who is unselfish in all ways, who is funny, who cares more for his patients then himself, then you have this and more with Dr. Phaup. MY FAMILY IS FOREVER GRATEFUL TO YOU AND THOMAS EYE GROUP. THANK YOU VERY MUCH..... ***PLEASE NOTE**** Thank you Dr. Phaup for have the mandatory/required tests in place for your patients. It saved my husbands life.

I would definitely recommend this optometrist. Dr. Duncan was so calm and patient. The staff was amazing as well. Everyone was very friendly. My son and I were in and out in no time. I had a very pleasant experience. Thomas Eye Group Hamilton Mill is my new eye doctor. Now I wont mind seeing my optometrist every year.

Dina, Mary, and Dr. Phaup were amazing to work with, along with all the team members! The whole facility is very welcoming and they make your appointment fun! They walked me through every step so nothing was unexpected. I couldn’t think of one bad thing to say!

This team is amazing. From the moment you walk in the door, to the bright and extremely clean space, I felt like I was taken care of in an friendly and professional manner.I came in with an old prescription for contacts, and glasses, and was able to spend a good amount of quality time with the doctor until we got it right.Super glad I found this place and would highly recommend to anyone looking for an eye care team in the area.

I agree with all the great things said about a great staff! When you get your bill, believe me, you pay for it! While I’m more than willing to pay for great service and staff, you end up paying 3-4 times what other offices charge. If you have plenty of money, highly recommended! If not, search for another place. I’m confident there is other reputable places that don’t charge so much. I have medical and vision insurance and for 2 tests, 1 pair of glasses and a routine exam has set me back about $600.

The staff at Thomas Eye Group off of Hamilton Mill were great. Got me in and out in no time. Watch out if you are a Cowboys fan though…. Great people all around!!!!!

Horrible experience, not so much with the staff or doctors in the Hamilton mill location but if you try to call them you will never get through to them and no one ever calls you back if you leave a message. They also billed me incorrectly and trying to get in touch with someone to get the billed corrected impossible. I would no recommend this based on their customer service and call center set up.

Great place for glasses , they have done the best job with my special needs daughter , dina , amber , mary , r all fabulous people and dont forget alex , awesome as well will do anything to help you

I would definitely recommend this practice. They were very friendly, quick, and professional. The doctor explained things in a way that my child and I could understand. Even more so, they called my child by their preferred name. That almost never happens for my transgender child. I was very impressed with the visit.

The entire staff is awesome. Very family oriented and a great selection of glasses. The opticians there Dina and Amber are phenomenal. They make sure you love and look awesome in your glasses.

DONT GO. You will have heart attack just by calling them.Very frustrated about their team in Hamilton branch. I went there in June and they charged me $175 with an in network doctor. I called them twice (AND insurance company tried to contact them as well), and asked them to resubmit the claim correctly to Cigna so they can process again and pay for me; they never responded to our phone call. Now they are threatening me to collect the money through agency.Oh, and I called their billing team and they said they will talk to manager, and talk to insurance team, and talk to agency for further steps. So after almost 3 months, nothing is solved!Why is it so hard to communicate with client and insurance company when you are such a big company???

I just had my first interaction with this location of the Thomas Eye Group and was blown away. Dr. Phaup Was professional, responsive, compassionate and thorough. I have been a patient of the Sandy Springs location for years but needed an emergency call back on a Saturday and I just can’t say enough good things about this new location. As I was traveling and out of town, I needed to find care elsewhere for my emergency and Dr. Phaup walked me through everything I needed to do - and he followed up with me afterward. I’m so impressed. This is a fantastic practice!

Today, 06/21/2021 I went for my new patient appointment at the Hamilton Mill location and I have anxiety when it comes to eye or dentist appointments but let me give you my word to anyone who may be researching for eye doctor. I had LASIK surgery to correct my distance vision about 25 years ago and its still 20/20ish. My problem is my close vision which has gotten worse as I age.Dr. Duncan was able to get me into a set of contacts that have been the best so far at being able to see up close and still maintaining most of my distance vision.

Best place I have ever been for my eye exams and glasses. All the staff were extremely friendly to myself and my 9 year old daughter. She was afraid to go to the eye doctor for the 1st time and they made her feel extremely comfortable and she wasnt scared anymore. I was treated with much kindness and respect. I recently had the opportunity to visit the Thomas Eye Group, who quite a few years ago was my provider for eye care, but due to insurance changes, I had to use other providers.I am so please to have new eye insurance which allows me to return to TEG after almost 15 years.I had the most thorough and complete eye exam. I can honestly say that this is the BEST place to get an eye exam! I have taken my entire family over the course of the last month and they were able to find corrections needed for my husbands vision that the last doctor missed. Their system has major issues. I used to go to the Suwanee location and there were no problems. Same insurance everything. I tried to take an appointment at the Hamilton mill location and they say my insurance is not verifiable. Something is wrong with their system and they have no patience look it up nor did they offer the option of trying to call my insurance to verify.

This entire office is great! They will go an extra mile to make sure everything is fine and you leave their office happy. Knowledge, courtesy friendly approach and satisfaction at the end is what you can expect from this team.Thank you!

Ive been looking for a new eye doctor for awhile and I have finally found one! Dr. Phaup is extremely personable and makes you feel comfortable right away. He is thorough and caring and has a friendly personality. I also took my daughter to see him and he was great with her too. They have a big selection of frames to choose from and were more than willing to help me pick out the perfect frame for me. I never felt rushed. I left there knowing that I will be coming back for many years. I highly recommend them.

Fantastic practice! Dr. Phaup And staff are really great and make sure you are happy and even double check everything before making a prescription. From start to finish I was overly impressed with the way I was treated as well as the first class equipment. The office was Very Clean and make me feel comfortable. I will be bringing the rest of my family in for their yearly checkups.

I have worn glasses for over 35 years and I have never had such a fantastic experience at an eye doctor. I came to Dr. Phaup location by accident as all other locations were booked up for weeks. From the time I hit the door to the time I left the building I felt like family. Every person at the facility was funny and understanding. They went the extra mile at every step to ensure that I understood my options and to check my eyes for all solutions. I have tried to wear contacts several times in my life but they were all uncomfortable. Each member of their staff took time to walk me through their experiences with contacts and the Dr. found a pair of daily wear contacts that are very comfortable for me. This was all in the middle of COVID protocols. I had not laughed so much in a long time. 10 STARS! Please support these guys!

The staff at the Hamilton Mill office were awesome. They took good care of us and made sure they addressed all of our concerns. The location is very nice. They practice social distancing and I felt comfortable.

This was not a great visit, actually not a visit at all. I called to make the appointment and they asked all kinds of questions ( none about medical history ie: diabetes or eye problems) which I understand was normal. I took the day off, drove to an office further than a closer office to be seen sooner due to I really wanted an exam and a new rx and glasses. When I got there they told me I had to take a mandatory retina test for either $40 ( which would not require my eyes to be dilated and not covered by my insurance) or have the test where they dilate your eyes which blurs your vision for several hours. I explained to the receptionist that I drove alone and would prefer not to drive home with blurred vision. She said she would asked the dr if I could skip the test and he said no it’s mandatory. The receptionist told me I could drive home with the blurred visit...?????? REALLY- do you think that’s a good idea????My issues with this office is..... Why wasn’t I told this the day I was making the appointment. So I could have made a more informed decision, before I took the day off and drove all the way to this office only not to be seen. A complete waste of my day and time. Mind you, if they would have told me I simple would have had someone accompany me to drive me home safely.I did call several other offices when I got home to make a new appointment and I asked if I needed an mandatory retina test and not one of the offices said they require a mandatory test. Most said they would look in the back of your eyes and if you had medical issues they would recommend see the retina test. But not mandatorily force you to take the test.I did go to another office and had a wonderful experience!

Had a wonderful experience at the Hamilton Mill location. Weve previously visited the Suwanee location but this location is much more convenient for us. The office was bright and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. There was very little wait time.

THE BOMB! I have the hardest time finding a good eye doctor. I have extreme astigmatism in one eye in particular and have always had the worst time finding a practice I liked. I am SO GLAD I found Dr. Phaup and his amazing team! They are a breath of fresh air and so convenient right here in Hamilton Mill. If there were more stars I would give them. Thank you to Dr. Phaup and your amazing staff!

We have been going to Thomas Eye Group for 24+ years starting at the Lilburn office. We have always had positive things to say about the group. This was our first visit to the Hamilton Mill location and to say I was impressed is an understatement. The interior was a clean, open and modern look and feel to it. The selection of frames and sunglasses were modern and plentiful. The staff was very kind and attentive as soon as we walked in. That attitude never stopped throughout our visit. Once we got to meet Dr. Phaup it was easy to see why. Hands down the best experience Ive had at any medical facility. It was easy to trust him right from the beginning. He is extremely knowledgeable and kept us informed throughout. Well definitely continue going to this location to take care of our familys peepers!! I stronger suggest giving them a shot! You wont be disappointed...
