Really good for being a “park district” gym. Everything you can ever need for working out.. all the way from the beginner to the experienced. Plenty of cardio. Good size pool and locker rooms. Staff is very friendly.

Great fitness facility with indoor track, yoga, pilates, basketball and pickle ball courts, sauna, steam, hot tub, warm pool and lap pool. The facility was recently updated. There are many classes catering to all types of activities. It is located in the one of the many Buffalo Grove Park District parks so there are also nearby outside facilities such as a splash pad, basketball, hockey, pickleball and skate park. The photo is of the Buffalo Grove Days festival which is held on the grounds. With the Covid pandemic, the Buffalo Grove Fitness Center modified to insure the safety of all members. Strong protocols are being followed and the equipment has be rearranged to provide significant social distancing. The staff is very diligent about cleaning.

Been a member a few months. Great facility. Staff is all super friendly and helpful. Facility is very well maintained and spotlessly clean. 3 of the 4 cycle instructors that I have experienced are quite good. One needs a ton of training and education, please. I highly recommend this facility if you are seeking a new gym. Thank you

I have been a member for about 18 months. The general overall cleanliness dropped off pretty dramatically in the last 6ish months. Complained 3x over a one week long period about one particular grossness in the locker room. Front desk gal told me they cant communicate with the cleaning crew and kinda shrugged her shoulders. Sadly, going to be moving on to a new place.

If you are thinking to join the fitness center this is the best choice you can make. They have everything you can imagine, from all equipment to million classes available to members. Amazing pool and sauna and the most important the cleanliness of this place makes a huge difference. I highly recommend this place to everyone who loves the gym!!

Very grateful to live so close to this great center. The facilities are excellent. The group exercise schedule and instructors are outstanding. My favorite classes are MMA, Weekend Warrior, Restorative Yoga. The cost has gone up over the last year, but no where near Lifetimes prices! I recommend, especially if you live nearby. I also appreciate them opening up the therapy pool to children and not just the lap pool.

We were going to pool family hour every weekend for about a year. Now we have to switch the pool to Vernon Hills (cheaper by the way) because new guards are rude and unagreeable. Our daughter was afraid to use therapy pool unless we were standing very close to her because of the guard. 16 years boy was making inappropriate comments and ruined our weekend. We never coming back there.

I love the pool and the people...BUT, seriously, if you are a swimmer PLEASE dont spit into the drain thinking it doesnt go into the pool!!! That is so nasty! And it would be great if the water aerobic teacher would be on time so that when they close the lanes to the swimmers it isnt 10 minutes before the class even starts (she is NEVER on time!!! ) One more rant...The showers and locker room are NOT your home....please dont clean out your comb/brush in the shower and leave your hair in the drain, ALSO NASTY!!!! And rude! The lovely people who clean up are not your personal maids and dont need to be cleaning up after you...This is a wonderful place for our community, lets keep it nice! Just common curtesy !!!

Runners beware: you may be tempted to join to use the indoor track to escape bad weather, but you’re better off braving the elements rather than the unsafe and unpleasant conditions at this facility. On the surface, the center has every advantage to deliver a great experience. This is the largest indoor track in the area, with the two outside lanes reserved for runners, and there’s a large space at one end that was once wide-open for runners to warm up. When the center first opened, the track was a welcome alternative to treadmills, and very popular with the local running community.Over time, conditions have deteriorated to the point where the track is virtually unusable by intermediate or advanced runners. Club policies from lane designations to cell phone use are not only not enforced, but management sides with violators over runners who are trying to do their workouts. It’s one thing to change lanes to pass slower runners, which is to be expected; or even to pass a herd walking three abreast; it’s quite another to be rounding a curve while dodging someone who’s sitting with their legs crossed out over the running lanes of the track while they’re texting on their phone. The warmup area at the west end of the track has become a dumping ground for the facility’s past-prime machines, making it difficult for runners to conduct a decent warmup routine without knocking into equipment. Because of the placement of that extra equipment, lines of sight for people leaving the area to get back on the track in the middle of that curve are limited, and near-collisions are all too common. And, even if you’re able to find some floor space, you’ll have a wonderful view of rotted mats, rusted pipes, and dust bunnies that look like living incarnations of the bubonic plague.Unfortunately, when you share your concerns or opinions, management and staff are alternately unresponsive, dismissive, or argumentative. This is true in all communications channels from the suggestion box to in-person interaction to email to telephone, and up all the way through the chain to the Buffalo Grove Parks Department which currently runs the facility. They simply do not care. After one recent incident, this nearly-20-year member finally decided that I no longer care either, and I closed out my membership and very reluctantly bought a home treadmill. I hate treadmills. But there was no staying there. All of this is why most of the runners who used to crowd the track are long gone.

Love the swimming pool here. Warmer pool for smaller kids. Have good swimming coaches. The staff is very helpful and social. Only problem I faced was with the family rooms. they do not have enuf space for kids. Has been a pain all the time when a dad is taking his girl here or vice versa. Else this wud have got 5 stars

People at the front desk were nice. But had a horrible experience with a staff member. She was rude, impolite and made offensive personal remarks against me. I complained about her and just quit the place. The have my doubts about the review above. The above reviewer is a social strategist. I donot know if the above reviewer was asked to post good reviews about this fitness center. Just google his name and you will find out.Stay away from this place and find a less expensive gym where people do treat you well.

Got in trouble for taking off my shoes!! THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING TILL 1 MONTH AGO! now there arent any good barbells and us teens arent allowed to use the good olympic bar. me and my friends are thinking about leaving this place. i usually deadlift and squat and i dont have good shoes and i take them off to be more stable and safe but no i guess not. so now i have to go out and drop money on new shoes just for this place. dont go here! it was the **** a bit ago now everybody complains about u. and also if your looking to go here and are under 20, most old men and workers will complain about you if u do anything but the norm.

This place is huge, personable, family-friendly, and other things that I find lot of corporate-owned gyms often lack. Ive reached all of my fitness goals, really enjoy the group exercise classes, and the trainers are most helpful.PROS-- Trainers. They have a lot of trainers to choose from, based on your fitness assessment and goals. Ive worked with trainer Tim Andel who put together some great workouts for me, that has helped me a lot with losing weight and looking more cut. Definitely ask for him and I think youll be impressed!-- Group classes. They have a wide variety for all exercise levels and activities. Ive done the spinning class a lot, and some total body workouts. The groups are well attended, but never feel too crowded. And they even include pilates and yoga!-- Excellent Customer service: Everyone was very helpful to me, especiall the Member Services Associate (Ask for Liz Sass, shes great!).-- Large Size: There is a huge amount of space in this building. You get an indoor track, large training areas, exercise courts, specialty fitness rooms, café, spa, great locker rooms, saunas, Jacuzzi, and large and small swimming pools. I find myself using the indoor track upstairs a lot, which is great for warming up for your workout.-- Classy Interior Design: This place has great architecture and scenic view. The building has wall-high windows, allowing for lots of natural light. The furniture throughout the building is very comfortable, and gives it a quality feel much better than what youd find at other municipal fitness centers nearby.-- Tons of Equipment: Theres a large amount of weight machines and free weights, and a ton of cardio. The equipment is modern enough to plug in your headphones to get a number of TV stations (including music videos), and easily portable for your own music player.-- Good selection of Classes: Some fitness classes are included for all members - not a giant amount of classes, but certainly enough for those looking to work out in a group. There are many specialty classes in the regular gym facilities, pool, and special workout rooms as well.-- Flexible Hours: Good hours 7 days a week. (Not 24/7, but realistic for people with early and late work schedules.-- Reasonable Fees: You arent locked into an annual membership, so you can do month-to-month.-- Free Trial: They are very generous with the guest passes, and even gave me several for my girlfriend, and one I could give to another friend. Thats typically a good sign that they have a lot of faith that peoples experience will be so good that theyll give it serious consideration for signing up. (Contrast that to the Wheeling Fitness Center, where they offer no free trial pass - and Im a resident there!)-- Lots of Parking: Lots and lots of free parking!-- Minor Traffic: I drive about 5.2 miles from Wheeling, and find it a smooth and easy drive to the place - never any serious traffic congestion yet.-- Cleanliness: The entire place was very clean and well-kept.-- Follow up - very nice and courteous. (Wheeling did absolutely nothing with me - no email, nothing. That makes no sense since they had me fill out a form requesting my email!)CONS-- High fees for non-residents: Monthly fee is $80 minimum if youre not a resident of Buffalo Grove. (I live in Wheeling which is the town to the East.) But honestly, paying $80/month is actually a great value youre committed to going, which I definitely am.OVERALLMunicipal fitness centers biggest challenge is their higher price to places like Ballys, X-Sport, Fitness19, and other chain fitness centers. The corporate chains can cut costs and offer lower rates than most municipal gyms can, which can make it hard to compete. However this place does have a good feel of community, great equipment, great atmosphere, and excellent customer service. Very importantly, it makes you feel inspired to exercise, and to enjoy just being in the facility.
