I made an appointment for my dog and cat hoping to establish a relationship with this vet for the foreseeable future, unfortunately it was a waste of time. Dr. Baggs (I assume he did not introduce himself) did not even come withing two feet of my dog let alone do an exam on him. He probably spent a total of 3 minutes in the room with us and spent the whole time talking, rarely let us talk about what has been going on with either of the pets or their medical history. Ive given this a second star only because the technician was very nice and actually interacted with both of the pets. Ive never been to such a rude and dismissive vet.

I went to the TAMU small animal hospital on the weekend and they charged me $900 and I waited 7 hours before they saw my dog on a Sunday night. I took my dog here the next weekend because TAMU didn’t know what was wrong with him. They diagnosed him in 30minutes to an hour and charged me $59 including medication. On top of that they were incredibly respectful and helpful. Best vet in college station for sure.

Sadly, this is the worse veterinary service I’ve experienced, far from professional, far from considerate. The service provided was detrimental to the health of my pets. We took In both our emotional support animals for procedures and it was not done right. We had to take them in to repeat the invasive procedure. After the second try, we noticed it was not done correctly, yet again. I called the clinic asking multiple times to speak directly to Dr. Baggs. The phone receptionist, Marissa, acted like she didn’t care. We paid a lot of money and now both pets have the same issue, their procedures were botched and the vet hasn’t tried once to alleviate our concerns with his work, poor performance, bad customer service. I regret so much taking my beloved pets to him.

I dont leave reviews often but they are just so amazing. They literally went above and beyond for our bearded dragon.. Very knowledgeable about reptiles, Im so thankful for bringing her there. Best reptile vet in the area hands down, thank you for everything.

I was searching for a vet as we are new to the area. This vet office is not complying with Covid-19 safety guidelines, not one staff member that we saw was wearing any type of face mask. I noticed another reviewer had a similar experience in November. We did not stay for our appointment. If they can’t show compassion towards their fellow humans by following the recommended safety guidelines, I can’t trust them to be compassionate and thoughtful towards my dogs care.02/25/21

First off Id like to thank Dr.Baggs and his entire staff for they help and heartfelt sympathy. We brought my daughters guinea pig in right at closing and they did all they could for us. Sadly she didnt make it but the sympathy and compassion of Dr.Baggs and his staff was above and beyond. It was my first experience here and I can guarantee it wont be my last. I would recommend them to anybody looking for a good compassionate Veterinarian.

Theresa at the front is absolutely fantastic! I had never been there before, but my cat needed to be seen today. She got me in, made sure my cat was seen and well taken care of, and they had a diagnosis in just over an hour. They’re also WAY cheaper than the vet I was going to. I truly cannot say enough good things about this clinic. They are professional, reasonably priced, extremely through and very responsive. I have brought both my reptiles here. When my chameleon was eggbound they were the biggest help, and when she had to be euthanized they were very caring and helped us feel much better. They have amazing front desk people, very helpful techs and Dr. Baggs is outstanding. I will definitely be taking all my pets here.

Dr Baggs is an excellent diagnostician and caregiver. He takes the BEST care of my 6 dogs. I was so impressed with him that I transferred care from another local vet clinic to West Villa Maria Vet Clinic. He and his staff are very detail oriented which is paramount as I have chosen to adopt several pets with health issues. His vet techs and office staff greet my pets by name when we walk through the door which is a really nice touch. And challenging with 6 dogs :D . Another thing I appreciate in addition to the great care is they never try to sell me something my pets dont need. The focus is all on exceptional care here. If they accepted human clients, I would be the first to sign up!

I accidentally showed up late to my appointment! I thought it was 8:30 and it was 8:00. I showed up about 8:20 and the receptionist was super polite and got us right back! Maria was gentle and kind with our dog! We love Dr. Baggs! Hes personable and really good with our dogs! Very great experience! The KINDNESS everyone showed us was overall the best part of the experience.

I took my dog Copper here to the clinic last Saturday. She needed a tune up, Ashley and Elaina were great with her before and after her treatment. Staff and doctors not wearing masks in violation of Brazos County COVID-19 face covering policy. Technician wore mask in room when asked to do so; doctor would not cover his nose. Recommend that anyone looking for a new veterinarian (or returning) ask about COVID-19 policy compliance when booking an appointment. Visited 11/24/20. I will not be returning.

The only vet clinic I will go to. It is small and quaint however this is made up for by the excellent service provided. Each employee was more than willing to help me and my pet. My husky usually is not good with people poking and prodding her at her but the vet tech and the Vet handled her so very well. She let them do their business and they made it look easy. They were also so sweet to my pet.

Weve used West Villa Maria Vet Clinic for all 5 of our animals. Staff is always so friendly, they make a true effort to get to know owners & animals.I love that Dr. Baggs takes the time to explain things and asks if theres anything else (even sarcastic remarks). My boys love seeing him each time we come in and giving him high fives, telling him stories or asking him strange questions- he truly is down to earth. Dr. Baggs quickly took care of our emergency (fish hook in cat paw) in a professional manner. The tech had good bedside manner and explained all the actions they were taking. It was as stress free as possible for our cat and myself. The vet staff was very accommodating and helpful as well.

I took my cat here for the first time and every single person I spoke to from making the appointment to the visit itself was very very nice and professional. They took great care of my cat and I will definitely be coming back in the future.

I brought my pet rat in for mites or fleas and was told they are itching and have scabs because they fight and their males. Obviously this was not the case and had to go somewhere else. Cannot say for other exotic animals but would not recommend bringing your pet rat here did not seem very knowledgeable about them. Other than that nice service and place.

I had a few concerns and called to get a possible visit. I was able to get same day appointment. My gsd was able to get seen and given a full exam. Being a gsd, he needed to be sedated. I had everything done within an hour. Vaccines, routine check up, ears cleaned and nails trimmed. The only draw back was that his one paw was clipped too close, I had to go back to get it looked at. I was very satisfied with the service given. Same day check up was great. Called in to see availability and was seen just 3 hours later.

They saw us last min before closing on Sat. We had a very sick little ferret and I went in knowing what the outcome was most likely going to be. My fears were confirmed. I loved him so much. I have another ferret and an 11 year old lab that I will be scheduling to bring in very soon. I feel comfortable knowing that they will take care of my loved ones as best as humanly possible.

Dr. Baggs was very attentive, answered all my questions and addressed all the issues I was having with both dogs, even though he had a very sick/emergency pup to take care of. Wait times were minimal and we were sent directly to a room and didnt have to stay in the lobby which I was worried about due to social distancing. I felt like Dr. Baggs listened to all my concerns and addressed them. Plus he was super sweet to my pups.

My cat ate something poisonous and I just googled the closest vet clinic and hoped it would be a good experience. This place was so awesome that I am going to be a permanent client! Even though they were very busy and I had never been there before, they took him immediately and gave him meds to vomit out the toxins, and then more meds for me to give him over the next four days.I was able to schedule a follow up for the beginning of the next week, and during the follow up they were so sweet to him while taking blood to run tests. They had me wait just a few minutes to get the results, and then he was given a clean bill of health. At both visits, they charged me minimal costs for the tests and exams, so my final total between the two visits was about $100, which was really fair.In the end I had interacted with both vets and two other staffers, and all four of them treated my pet with love and me with respect and professionalism. I recommend this place highly for anyone searching for an honest, sincere, and all-around great vet experience for them and their pets.

I decided to take my 4 month old puppy to this clinic on May 8 since I just moved and live about 5 minutes away. I should have brought her elsewhere.I was very pleased with the professionalism and kindness of the office staff. Josie really took her time in introducing herself to my puppy, who is incredibly anxious. It realled seemed to helpHowever, Dr. Baggs needs to work on his bedside manners. Before even meeting her, he came in with remarks about how her breed are incredibly combative. He didnt bend down to let her sniff him, and when she barked he said Im not the person to bark at. He then was talking about how if she continues, hell want to sedate her. I understand sedating animals when necessary, but all she did was bark!He quoted this statistic about how the breed delivers the most dog bites. I have never heard of that, and through research have found that is absolutely not true. To give a client false information is unprofessional.She only growled once and was shaking. My dog was terrified and all he did was talk about how her breed is not nice. He even said that my older dog, who is the same breed and has never been to this vet, must not be normal since he is nice.The moment Dr. Baggs left the room after only a couple minutes, my dog was noticeably calmer. He really seemed to scare her.I had previously worked as a vet tech for four years and have never seen a doctor talk like this to a patient. Im sure Dr. Baggs is a capable vet, but his immediate dismissal and disdain for my dog made me incredibly uncomfortable. If he was concerned about her being difficult to work with, he should have taken the time to get to know her instead of talking down to me in my opinion.The only reason I left two stars was because the office was clean, the front desk ladies were professional, and Josie helped make me feel better.

I URGE YOU NOT TO USE THIS CLINIC if you care for your familys pets. On October 13, 2015, I brought in my very sick Australian Bearded Dragon to West Villa Maria Vet Clinic. Our lizard has been our family pet for more than 5 years. The lizard had a fluid-filled, infected abscess on its lower jaw, causing it pain and difficulty eating. The staff took a sample of the fluid, supposedly examined it under a microscope, and then told me they were sending the sample out to a lab for analysis. I was told I would hear back from them in a day or two with the lab results. They sent the lizard home with a 6-day general antibiotic and charged me $143.71. By the next day, Oct. 14, the lizard was even worse. I proceeded to contact West Villa Maria Vet Clinic numerous times over the course of the week to inquire about the lab results and to reiterate that the lizard remained very sick. I called them on Oct. 14, Oct. 16, and again on Oct.19. Each time I was told they would check on the lab results and call me back. They never called back, despite my repeated requests for help. It is now seven days later, and I still have NOT received the lab results. In fact, during this entire time they called me just once, on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m., and only after our new vet had contacted them also asking about the MIA lab results. Did Villa Maria Vet Clinic apologize and own up to their mistakes? NO. Shame on them! Luckily, our new vet has been compassionate and genuinely concerned for our familys pet lizard. Villa Maria Vet Clinic repeatedly showed a complete lack of professionalism and ethics, and showed little-to-no regard for our lizards ongoing care. I dont care if the mistake was theirs alone or the lab they used, the bottom line is they should have followed through with this lizards care and called me back (with or without answers). At the very least, they should have refunded all or part of my money (why pay for lab work you never receive?) Again, I URGE YOU NOT TO USE THIS CLINIC.

**UPDATE** July 2019 - Dr Baggs has performed multiple surgical procedures on our 8 year old bulldog this year without any complications.We always rest assured knowing she is in safe, confident hands with him! We move frequently due to being a military family, and Dr. Baggs is hands down the best, most caring and competent veterinarian that I’ve ever dealt with.He is truly a person that is following his calling in life, and his passion for this field is very evident. I can’t recommend him enough.Original review April 2019-Feeling so grateful to have found Dr. Baggs @ West Villa Maria Veterinary Clinic today! He performed laser airway (Nares and palate) surgery on our French bulldog in November.For those of you that might be unfamiliar with bulldog breeds and their struggles, many of them were born with nostrils (nares) that are pinched together like slits instead of open and round like human nostrils. They also have a compressed airway and palate inside their throat that impacts their ability to breathe and regulate their body temperature like other long snout dogs. These things can only be corrected by a veterinary surgeon.Dr. Baggs encouraged us to do these surgeries on Emma for years, and boy do we wish we had listened to him and done it years ago! He was right, her quality of life was improved by t tremendously. Ever since her two week recovery period, she’s been able to breathe better and enjoy life so much more!Last year we could only take walks before the sun came up and after it went down because she couldn’t regulate her temperature or breathe well enough to stay cool.We just got done with our late morning walk and she even ran up and down the hills in the park! She is a whole new dog. She has lost weight as well because she’s able to walk more without losing her breath.Thank you so much Dr. Baggs! 💝

I absolutely love West Villa Maria Vet Clinic and I recommend them to every single person when they get a new pet. Dr. Baggs is great and his entire staff is so friendly. I drive from Houston to Bryan just to take my dog here!

Our dog could no longer walk this morning. We took him in to see Dr. Baggs who only poked near the hind legs. No other examination was done and he said we had 3 options. 1) Take the dog to A&M and have an MRI and surgery done at the cost of $4500. No idea what the actual diagnosis was, 2) medication (he said not recommended because the dog cannot walk), or 3 put him down.Since our dog was old, we felt it was time. Dr. Baggs first gave our dog a shot to knock him out and then injected him in the arm, but that didnt work and our dog was still breathing. He then injected it in the RIGHT SIDE (he said into the heart). For a vet to not even know proper anatomy is outrageous. He never had a stethoscope, and said he was going to get a bag... Our dog was still breathing.. We said wait a minute, hes not gone yet, hes still breathing and then he injected him again this time on the left side. He then tried to cover all this mess up by saying the dogs heart was probably displaced because of heart worms. Our dogs are all on heart worm preventative so thats a load of crap for trying to cover up your mistake.It should NEVER take 3 attempts to put a beloved pet down. Weve had to have other pets put down in the past and other vets have done a much better job of the process.He then tried to sell us cremation services. We took our dog back home and buried him.If you love your pets as much as we do, you will not take them here for treatment or to be euthanized.

They took my dog in on a busy Friday afternoon. Very professional, kind, and knowledgeable. My pet is now on the road to recovery.

During the process of adopting a heartworm positive lab mix from the Bryan Animal Center, they highly recommended West Villa Maria Vet Clinic. I called them to go over what her treatment would consist of and how much it would cost, and the vet techs I spoke with were extremely helpful and friendly. My dog, Eva, needed 30 days of antibiotics and three injections, and Dr. Baggs and his staff were professional and caring toward Eva and always available to answer my questions over the phone (Im a first time dog owner with a lot of concerns!). Eva had no anxiety whatsoever on return visits and the vet tech cuddled and soothed her while Dr. Baggs gave her the injections. When I noticed a hard lump on Evas rump after the treatment was over, they checked her out at no cost the same day I called, assured me all was well, and encouraged me to contact them if I had any further concerns.Based on my experience with my dog, I also brought in my two senior cats several months later when they were due for routine shots and teeth cleaning. They saw Dr. Worrell and everything went well, which is saying something since one of my cats has reacted to a vaccine in the past!I cant recommend this vet clinic enough, and it will be a sad day when my time in BCS is over and I have to relocate and find a new vet!
