This facility outstanding! The staff is very friendly, respectful, and helpful. The atmosphere feels more like a home rather than a nursing home. As well, it is very neat and clean. Alta Vista is a very special place that has residents not patients.

I have worked at Alta vista for 2 years and 8 months it’s a wonderful place to work. All employees are caring employees. I love my job. Thank you Norma Guerrero Administrator for giving me a chance to work here.

Since we have placed our aunt in Alta Vista we have been very pleased with the care she has received. The staff have been very friendly and helpful. We would recommend this facility to anyone that worries about their love ones.

The best place Ive been admitted to i thank god for giving me the opportunity to visit and make friends in this wonderful place thanks to them Ive advanced in the healing of my wound. I really wish i could go back to completely heal but with these insurance companies its impossible.

My grandmother was recently placed at Alta Vista and all I can say is the therapy was amazing and the people where amazing she will be continuing with out patient therapy! Thank you Alta Vista.

My father is currently residing at Alta Vista Rehab, he’s been there for a while. He’s not the easiest person to deal with, but the awesome staff has managed to find his good side. They are a very caring and attentive team and always makes sure he has his coffee with his meals. He knows most of them by name because of the level of interaction they have him. Thank you Alta Vista for the continued care you provide to daddy!

Alta vista has been a blessing for me and my family. When all the other facilities turned our father down because he only had Medicaid benefits; Alta Vista opened their doors to our father and family. This facility is not the newest but it is very homey and has a loving caring environment. I would recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for a place for their loved one.

Great place for rehabilitation everyone is friendly. Today is my last day here, I will miss you all but I’m going home feeling better thank you for everything.

Unfortunately my family and I had no choice but to place my father in a nursing home. I was very pleased with Alta Vista and their staff. He received the care and attention he needed. The staff was always friendly and caring treated him as he had been there a long time and made him feel right at home. Best choice by far! Thank you AV for what you did for my father.

Alta Vista is a great place to have your loved one cared for. I have my grandma there and she has made an amazing recovery. The staff is very loving and compassionate they are always willing to help.

My father has only been there a couple of weeks and I have gotten an enourmous amount of help from their office. Both Ana and Olga have answered my questions. Olga has been a God sent since Im in NC and my dad is in Brownsville. I just havent been able to fully communicate with the nurse director, but Im hopeful that we can get that situated as well. I pray for all that work in these type of facilities, for patients and care givers.

I would like to thank Ana Gonzalez in assisting us in placing my mother in Alta Vista. The cnas and nurses are wonderful and have always attended my mother professionally, very courteous and respectful. I am very pleased with the staff. They all work very hard the driver, administration, housekeeping, and the entire staff. They are very compassionate, understanding on the residents needs. Thank you all for all your hard work. So disappointed with this facility. The attending CNAs did a good job meeting my fathers needs. The administrative staff definitely needs training. It is very obvious that this facility is only interested in keeping the patients for their financial benefit. My father will never set foot in this place again!

My father was a resident in hospice care. I have been in the medical field for over 20 years and am now in nursing school. I have been to several other nursing homes in central Texas and visited some in Brownsville. Alta Vista did not feel like other nursing homes. Alta vista may not be a newly painted building but the staff are exceptional. I was always greeted and no staff member was rude or in a hurry. They took care of my father as if he was a member of their own family. Me and my family are so thankful for the care he was given and will always remember them as we move forward. Thank you doesnt seem adequate for the difficult job they do in this nursing home.J Herrera

This place is amazing helped my grandfather get better and I would recommend to most elderly people in need for help

My mom was here for over a month, and I would visit her all the time, and everyone was very nice. The building was also very clean, the food was good and the people were very well cared for. My mom is at home now, and she says she misses being there. I also kind of miss going there to visit her.

As a former employee what I can visually attest to is unlicensed/non-certified personnel administering medications. One would think no big deal right? As long as its done under the supervision of a nurse. Well it was done under the supervision of a medication aide who failed his last med pass with state. The CNA that administered the medications can barely speak or write any English, (at the time) much less be sure of what medications were administered. She wouldnt know what side effects to look for if anything should go wrong. The buildings own Executive director personally admitted to me that the facilitys van driver had a complaint of wreckless driving against him, which to me would make any future complaints more credible. She forgave it, and let him continue working there. Its my understanding that this person has now moved up to accepting money from residents (one at least). Due to HIPPA regulations I am not allowed to use the name of the resident or family member involved in the driving or borrowing money incident. I would not shy away from speaking to an ombudsman or other agency though. Nevertheless I would be overall wary of putting my loved one into this place. Sadly you have to be a member of the Executive Directors super-clique to thrive. If you should happen to have any real concerns, lets hope whatever is going on the administrators phone isntmore important. Unfortunately her phone is where her attention will be. For whatever reason this building is unable to sustain any real leadership in the Nursing Dept. They have an excellent Therapy Dept all of which are dedicated professionals, and a wonderful kitchen staff. In fact the food is probably the best in the city. I was employed over 7 years with the company so it was sad watching this place lose its internal integrity over the last two, and half years. It just goes to show. There are no bad crews, just bad leaders.

I advise anyone who considers putting relative to Alta Vista: Dont do it! my sister brought my 95-year-old Dad here in Aug. 31 with the basic assurance that we would be covered for 100 days; when in fact, he was only covered for a month due to a Negative therapy review from the director of the therapy unit which was false and specious. They yanked him off therapy which provoked a possibly irreversible downhill slide; he fell at least 6 times that I know of, he was taken off a very important medicine that prevents delusions and it took weeks to get him on trap, my father now pays almost all of his pension to the nursing home and there is none left for him to even have a little pocket money, and that is just the beginning.Alta Vista has a poor rating from U.S. News which surveys 15,000 nursing homes each year. You are taking your relatives life in your hands if you place them here. I have been trying to get him out of here for 9 months. but so far the money flowing out of Dads account wont allow it!

It’s the worst place I’ve ever visited. My poor aunt is a victim of neglecting staff and a very dirty place. The staff doesn’t change her clothes regularly and her bed sheets are always unclean. It’s very sad to see how low and third-world the standards of this place are. Unfortunately, we are not in the power to make the decision to transfer my aunt to a good American place... wish this place would act responsibly.

I came to visit my aunt. The place is not clean. It smells terrible. She had not been changed in quite some time. If I could, I would move her elsewhere. Unfortunately, I am her niece and not next of kin, and do not get to make the decision.
