Really nice store for all your outdoor needs. I personally bought some dehydrated meals and a hat and gloves this past time. Highly recommended this store.
The products REI sells are always top quality and the associates are very helpful and friendly, it is a great shopping experience.
My favorite camping store. A little pricey but their gear holds up really well. One thing I dont like is that their credit card utilizes a bank that funds fossil fuels (us bank). They have an awesome selection of products that are known to be rated very well. They sometimes dont have the newest products because they wait to make sure it holds up before they sell it on their shelves I think. So I trust that what they sell is going to be quality made. Customer service is always excellent. They have a useful 1-year guarantee on all their products. If something you bought isnt what you thought it was going to be or if it doesnt live up to your standards, they take it back, no questions asked within a year of purchase. I have returned two pairs of boots in the past without a problem. Not due to quality, but I have ankle hardware and some boots rub on it. They have classes, trips, garage sales. Truly a unique store.
Greeted at the door. All the staff were wearing masks. 👏👏👏 Asked for help with accessory parts for an old Yakima roof rack. The staff were able to show me the parts I needed. Let me take photo of computer screen so I could remember the needed part. Referred me to Yakima website for parts because it is for a very old rack and would be available through them. I was grateful for the help because I wasnt sure if I had to trash the rack. Also bought a Solo smokeless firepit. Staff carried the large/heavy solo firepit box to checkout counter. After purchase they also carried it out to our car. All the employees were pleasant and helpful. Thank you. If you need equipment and clothing for your outdoor life visit REI.
Terrible individual working in the bike department...was greeted by an awesome gentleman at the service desk but he was unable to help or didnt want to...so he walked back into the bike shop and was followed by an absolutely arrogant bicycle mechanic who actually tried to tell me the customer what I wanted which then became a sort of battle of bicycle knowledge to him completely rude and uncalled for...nevertheless took my money over to wheel and sprocket where a person would expect bicycle arrogance..lol...and actually found an awesome gentleman who listened to my needs and took his time to place the order in which I would have placed earlier at rei if it werent for the completely unnecessary rudeness of their bicycle mechanic
My son and I were shopping for his first pair of hiking shoes, some outdoor clothing/gear, and anything else that may have caught our attention.Upon entering the store we were ignored by the greeter, he looked past us to the couple entering behind us; unfortunate as we had some questions. We were unable to get assistance with some of the things we’re looking at. Later, we spent time waiting in the shoe section for help in a non-existing line before another customer said, “You have to get their attention then they give you a pager”.After making our way through the camping, hiking, and clothing sections we were finally paged to the shoe section, only to be informed we needed to go to the ‘Kids section’.We left without making a purchase. My typical REI visit includes warm greetings and helpful associates; this was definitely not my typical experience.
Tom was extremely helpful in a shoe department today. It was actually my first visit to an REI. He took the time with me to weigh many different options and talk with about the co-op. After about a half hour, we landed on a great pair of Hokas. Huge shoutout to Tom!I was also in need of a trail pack and unfortunately never had someone come to the front of the store to help with a pack fitting at the desk. I did some general fitting myself and ended up finding a pack that I liked.
Staff are knowledgeable and prices arent too bad but the selection is fairly lackluster. If youre an ultralight hiker dont plan on getting too much gear here. The membership is a great option for a lot of outdoor enthusiasts and there are still plenty of useful items that can be found here. If you have a certain brand in mind for some gear be open to the possibility that they might not have it. The stock is low right now but that is only due to covid, otherwise its good.
REI. Ravishing-Epic-Idyllic. Really-Excellent-Inventory. Rude-Evil-Impish. Return-Every-Indiction (who cares about periodic reassessment of the Roman Empiress taxation...?) One (fine, two)of these doesnt belong...you decide.
Great store, always super friendly staff, theyll hook you up with whatever outdoor needs you have. Join the co-op and help the community while also getting some good rewards! :)
5-star review for employee Faith who swooped in to save my boyfriend and I from buying the wrong size pack and gave some great recommendations for backpacking gear. Super friendly, very knowledgeable, top tier customer service.
Staff was helpful and pleasant to deal with. I had a membership for a few years prior and ordered everything online but I decided to go in store to see what they had, an impressive selection of top quality products with prices the same as they offer on line, they have everything you need to build a kit for any journey, highly recommend if youre like me and are too impatient for shipping. Yes you can use your dividends in store. 👍
A week or so ago I entered this establishment with a shopping partner and my service dog. There were two greeters at the front door. They asked if my dog was a service dog, to which I replied she is. They then loudly proceeded to ask me about my disability in public, in front of my shopping partner and the rest of the store. When I informed them that what they were doing was illegal, they argued with me, saying that they can legally ask me these questions, which I am very clearly protected from in the ADA. They failed to allow me to enter, and once I told them that I am not going to answer their illegal questions, and asked if they were denying me and my service dog entry, they called the manager, John, over. John was very polite and immediately allowed me and my service dog inside. The two greeters, and everyone else at the establishment need to be trained not to break the law, not to argue with customers who are informing them of their criminal activity, and not to publicly humiliate their customers by asking them about their disabilities.
Sarah was uber helpful and took the time to explain all the different backpacks along with test fitting them with my wife and I. They have plenty of items and the store is very orderly and welcoming. Glad we signed up to be apart of the co-op!
Went to the store to pick up a new down jacket. Everything went smoothly. Check out fine. Ordered on line so tried the jacket on prior to leaving. Just good service from Dawn.
All staff were extremely helpful and kind. McKenzie was really patient helping us with hiking boots and Tracy was so helpful finding some clothing. Really appreciated both their kindness and perspective.
Not as good as other REI locations across the country. It hardly has any rental gear and doesnt carry as wide of a variety of gear. If you are looking for something specific you are better off buying online.
Friendly knowledgeable team. The gentleman in the bike department was a great help and provided excellent feedback.Bianca was very helpful in assisting me with finding shoe alternatives to my present day worn out pair. Thanks again for your service
Anara and Eric provided more than excellent service in their shoe department. God bless!😊💓🥺Not even to mention all their camping products and its just a great inspiration and atmosphere to be there, u just wanna go camping or hiking!!
Staff needs product knowledge in order to sell. Will ask if they can help, and then proceed to look up information on Google, every ..single..time. When will management do their job and educate employees taking room up on payroll?
Great customer service, if you have ANY question or want some advice, ask because the staff is more than willing to help you out. Definitely recommend stopping in
Hiking, biking, running, camping, rock climbing, canoeing, whitewater rafting, or just laying in a hammock. They have it all. Awesome service, too. They take returns that were bought online, which is cool. I returned some items, and it was a breeze. They also have cool classes. Become a member and save $$!
Tom was awesome at helping us pick out hiking boots! Very friendly and helpful staff. This was our first time visiting. We will be back.
The staff was super friendly and helpful. Having been to several REI locations, I was a bit disappointed with the stock. There was a ton of clothing, but camping equipment was pretty limited.
Shout out to tom. Thank you for all the awesome help over the phone and in person.
Im a long time customer, having bought lots of biking gear here. Much better than local bike shops where they often push more expensive products. So glad that they require masks, as I dont want to pass the covid virus onto my octogenarian parents. If you dont require masks during a pandemic, you may as well permit smoking in your place. Covid is more dangerous than second hand smoke. Im also glad that they dont allow dogs, as I dont want a strange dog to impose itself on me while Im shopping. Anyway, I always go to REI, whether it be for tires, tubes, or shoes. They used to carry a lot more variety of cycling clothing, and I wonder why the inventory is down. Their Co-op brand of shorts/jerseys/jackets is durable and economical.
I had a great time. I couldnt get the 36 in the Columbia Silver Ridge pant because I had a little muffin top but I got into 38, my usual size.
I was a long time customer up until recently...REI has lost my business because they are not a dog friendly store. What outdoor store doesnt allow dogs? Its ridiculous. Shopping at local outdoor stores is a much better choice.
Helpful staff. Shelves are a little empty right now but they had what I was looking for
The Walmart of outdoor stores, sherpers is a better option
Amazing customer service here! I picked out a heavy winter coat to replace the broken one I have and Ryan pointed out that I could get one in a different color for even cheaper than the discounted one I found. He was super helpful and even helped me fix the account issues I had with the membership system!
Staff is attentive and willing help. Very knowledgeable about the products they sell
Rei is a great place. It was my first time going there and walking in I was over whelmed by all the things in there. They had bikes and climbing equipment and dry food. There was winter gear. Luckily when I walked in there was the greeter at the front door and she was very friendly and was explaining things to me. She was very nice.I had a online order and went to pick up and the cashier was very friendly and was explaining things to me and showing me different things about the back pack I had purchased and I didnt know about it.I will def be coming back to browse and purchase things. You can really tell the employees are into the outdoors and they are very knowledgeable and dont mind helping you out or showing you different things and I really appreciate that because a lot of times you go somewhere and the employees hide or ignore you to the point that you dont want to spend money. This wasnt the case at REI.Keep up the good work
My first visit to REI. Absolutely everyone working there was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I was lucky to escape without spending all my money, but I fear I wont be so lucky next time.
Really excellent customer service! Glad to be a lifetime REI member!
The store was really nice had everything you need for hiking, also the staff were very friendly
Love REI. You can find anything you need for camping, and the staff is always so helpful and friendly.
REI is a great place with workers that truly seem to care! This invested mentality from the workers is sorely lacking at most establishments today. Whatever you have done to create this environment, keep at it, its working!
Poor selection ,sizing of clothes. No Selection on mats for camping. If we are to go on line... why have a store! This has been an on going problem there
If you need hiking shoes or boots, the ONLY person to see in all of Brookfield/Wauwatosa/Milwaukee is Tom.... 20 years of experience at THIS STORE... helpful, extremely knowledgeable, fun, and you walk out with the PERFECT footwear. I live in San Diego, but I get all my footwear from Tom! Fantastic. Awesome.
Very helpful staff at the rental area. Eric was super knowledge, friendly, and a great help to get me started. Thank you!
Yesterday was my first visit at REI. I was looking for carabiners when I noticed their bike shop. I happened to have my bike in my car because I just pulled it from storage and had been meaning to take it in for a little check, so I just took it out and brought it over. Moon at the bike center was AMAZING. Super knowledgeable, helpful, and clearly passionate about his work. He was honest about what he thought my bike needed and didnt try to push extra services/products on me. I have very little knowledge about the innerworkings of bikes and he explained everything clearly and got my bike checked and in riding condition within the hour. Not only that, but he also gave valuable advice about choosing locks and even hooked me up with a rack to put a crate over my back tire. Seriously, I was blown away. Everyone was nice and respectful of covid safety measures from the moment I walked into the store. I always appreciate it with a company takes mask wearing and social distancing seriously. Like I said, it was my first time going into the store, but I walked away with a co-op membership, not because it was pushed on me or anything, but just because I was so dang happy with the service and I knew Id be coming back for any sort of bike or outdoor gear needs. Thanks Moon and everyone at REI Brookfield. You all made my day!
I am so pleased with the quality brands of waterproof low hiking shoes for my family. The Labor day 20-25% sale certainly makes their prices reasonable. Plus you get the unbeatable REI membership benefit of a year to return if dissatisfied. However with such great quality, I have yet to return. I have purchased and used their Keen and Northface brands with no problems over several years. Expect to pay about $100 for great quality at REI. Why pay less elsewhere and then find out you have to buy replacements more often for lower quality?
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff helped us with cold weather camping ideas and gear.
Great customer satisfaction and my Salomon arrive in less than 48 hours
Curbside pickup. All employees wearing masks. All customers must wear masks.Store customer limit supports social distancing.Great selection!
Was not allowed in store due to mask requirements. What happened to having a choice. I will not support stores that force beliefs on others.
Friendly staff overall, the snowboarding helmet I wanted wasn’t available in store but I can just hop online for it since it’s end of season. Plenty to look at for anyone who enjoys the outdoors.
12 rude staff members there. No hello, no offer to help you find anything- All they care about is that your mask is over your nose. I wouldnt spend a dime here. Ever.
Nice and friendly. The associates are very knowledgeable and helpful!
Friendly staff. Great collection of products. Super easy and free Ship to Store oprion
The employees are so nice and helpful! They are happy to teach you and make sure you get exactly what you need without overselling. Tom, in the shoe department, is especially knowledgeable and awesome! I highly recommend this store and its employees.
REI is one of those special stores that if you arent careful, you can spend a lot more money than you planned. Their owners/team members are excellent and the product quality is exceptional. Always a pleasant experience shopping here.
Full of Amazing stuff!
Staff is not very attentive and the store is very disorganized.
Whats the point of stocking dog flotation devices and packs if your policy doesnt allow for them to come in and try it on to make sure they fit?
I got excellent help finding rock climbing shoes
As always, all REI employees are very helpful and happy to lend a helping hand. They are taking COVID protocol seriously (which is appreciated), so there currently will likely be a line. However, it does move pretty quickly. Masks are not required, but are recommended.
Great experience 🙂 Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
New remodel, looks bigger, got a north face jacket. Very friendly and efficient sales person. Informative told me to hold on the the gift card if I wasnt satisfied.
I feel like a commoner
Wonderful help inside the store
Extremely professional. Easy to talk to in laymans terms. Would recommend any day.
REI is always a great place to shop if you are an outdoorsy person!
This has got to be one of the worst customer service experiences ever. Cashier became very upset after I didnt want to pay an extra $20 for the membership, since I rarely shop here due to it being over priced and over rated gear.I had to basically defend myself for 5 mins as to why I did not want the membership before she let me go on with my purchase. People don’t like being pressured into things and I will not return.Additionally, I’d really rather not see politically backed pins and patches on the employees uniforms. I am here to purchase your products, not get a 5 min runaround from a person wearing pins that align with far left ideology.
Great place to work and shop. I have always been excited to wear the green vest BUT Brookfields store has that small town charm.
One of the best experiences I have ever had at a outdoor store, the staff new exactly what I needed and was extremely friendly.
Was going to purchase a few hundred dollars in items today. Left store with nothing. While I was shopping in the store WITH MY MASK ON. A extremely rude employee came right up to my face (literally under a foot from my face) she demanded I pull up my face mask more! Are you kidding me!? She was super aggressive! She could care less about following guidelines. What a horrible experience and feel so bad for the paying customer whom continue to support this store that have to deal with this. You have lost a good customer.
Amazing place! Treated with love and care, things my parents never bothered to give me...
The employee was condescending and unhelpful.
Easy store pickup
The employee at the register named Tracy was rude and falsely accused me of wearing something I didn’t. I have no reason to lie and her language was pretty disrespectful. I will not be returning to this store.
Online ordering store pickup- seamless!
Great people!
They did not have a slackline, or any approach shoes. was really hoping that they would have those as most REI do. However staff was exceptional 🙌
REI is a great place to be. The staff is amazing and helpful. I would highly recommend.
Great selection & price ranges for anything and everything outdoor you might need. The friendly staff are very helpful, knowledgeable and dont try to up-sell you.
Love REI. I can count on them to have just about everything for my camping and climbing needs.
Helpful staff. Fair prices
Excellent. Handled the Covid-19 precautions well. Sales associate very efficiently helped me with each item I needed.
Safety precautions in place. Enough staff to help with your shopping and a very large selection of items in each department.
A lot of good stuff
I was greeted outside the entrance by the door monitor and questioned if my mask has a filter, I said no. Was told to grab a mask from their box and wear that, I refused and was told I wasnt welcome come into the store then. Pretty upset by the way I was treated.
I needed some hiking equipment and my daughter said I should go to REI during their annual sale. I went the first Saturday of their annual sale and the store was very crowded with shoppers. Being patient I was able to track down very busy sales people to help me, they were friendly and very knowledgeable. REI is by no means inexpensive but all their equipment is top quality.Online, REI still needs to learn to compete with Amazon for online orders shipped fast direct to consumers.
Not too busy, good covid protocols
Super knowledgeable staff
People were friendly helpful and courteous. I found what I needed and was out of there in no time.
Great store with wonderful customer service!
Friendly Helpful staff followed safe guidelines fast service
This is a great store for pretty much all your outdoor adventures! They do seem to be slightly overpriced on quite a few things. Hence my choice of only 4 stars.REI does offer memberships into their Co-op though, which allows you to save a bit more.
Great customer serviceFast unload
REI was well prepared for todays retail realities. The employees were helpful and social distancing guidelines were made obvious, so all but the dumbest of customers could figure things out.
Everything is so overpriced there, I dont know why I forget that and go back. First place Ive been that makes you wear a mask...oh, and they sell them for $17 which is convenient.
Not my experience, I reccomended a member of my hiking group go to her REI (this one) to get an outfitting done, her appointment was today 22 feb 2020...for the last 30 minutes I have listened to her Rave about your store and how well she was treated. By Tracy how patient and explanatory Tracy was. ...Great job Tracy and the team at this REI (I work at REI in NY) awesome job!
I love going to REI its great place to get all your outdoor gear. If your a crafty shopper you can some great deals if you look hard enough. I found really good deals on two pair of hiking pants. The employees always have a great attitude and can help you with all your questions.
We made a large purchase today, and Todd was extremely helpful in getting us set up for backpacking! He stayed with us for hours to get us all of the essential gear and gave us tips and tricks from his own experience. We truly appreciate that amazing service!
The workers here are very friendly and knowledgeable! My boyfriend and I want to go backpacking, but have no idea where to start. One of the guys on the floor had a depth of knowledge and experience, and could answer all our questions. Highly recommend!
I did outside pick up. It worked fine.
Excellent customer service. Mike helped me pick out new hiking boots and was very knowledgeable about each brand. I wish they had more plus sizes in store but I know there is a plethora of options online.
