The receptionist, triage nurse and room nurse were fabulous. However, I feel that the doctor that saw me wasn’t fully aware of the past two weeks of agony that I’ve been in. I feel as though I left with more questions than I walked in with. Sigh.

I absolutely loved the care and treatment that I received! I had been involved in a head on collision and needed medical care. The nurse was caring and attentive and the doctor was timely and thorough. All in all it was a wonderful experience given the circumstances. Thank you to the staff of the emergency department! Keep up the great work because you really do make a difference!

Called the ambulance for my elderly Mom and all of the hospitals were on divert except St Johns Broken Arrow due to Covid variant. St Francis is in her network. All of the ER staff were very nice. Only reason for not giving five stars first thing they told her they prefer patients in their network. Well we prefer her seeing her own doctors and medical staff that know her medical history. Not our fault! Second thing, when she got home I looked down and the IV needle was still in her arm and bleeding. Yes I had to remove it. Wasn’t too happy about that. They sent her home with all of the lovely monitor stickers on her as well.

I came to the ER with complaints of swelling and pain in my right leg and feet. I was concerned that I may have a blood clot. I arrived at the ER at 11:40 a.m. and was not released until after 6:30 p.m. . They finally called me to the back at 1:00 p.m. the doctor ordered X-rays and a Doppler at 1:15 p.m. . The x-rays were done in a timely manner but I waited over two and a half hours for the Doppler. They said that there were lots of people ahead of me for the Doppler. I am a registered nurse and worked in St Johns Tulsa for over 15 years and I know that orders coming from the emergency room takes priority over those patients that are admitted in the hospital. They never came in after that to check on me nor did they offer me food or water. I got a sip of warm tap water with a pain pill. I finally had to go out to the desk and ask why I was taking so long and ask to speak to the doctor. She eventually came in and said my tests were negative and she had no idea what was wrong with my leg and feet and advised me to follow up with my primary care doctor. A 6-7 hour stay in the emergency room was very excessive for what my complaints were. The care was subpar and non-compassionate. I will not go back to that particular ER again.

I was so sick I couldnt stand up. I was vomiting+experiencing chronic diarrhea simultaneously. Im uncertain whether I ever got tested for COVID-19. I was exhibiting every symptom except fever. How can there NOT BE A protocol for testing everyone who comes through the ER for the nastiest, most lethal viral pandemic in centuries?Half the staff was great but the other half was terrible! My husband and I both asked about the COVID testing. The nurse drew blood and said it was for tests, etc. Yet I have inquired several times about which tests were being done. We never were informed. At the present time, we remain disgusted and offended.Sincerely,Jamie L SmithPatient, no longer patient

Hands down one of the best ER experiences ever thanks to Dr Fischer and her team. Its good to see that there are still Drs out there that truly care about the patient and listen with an open mind. Most Drs these days look at you when you describe your ailments as if every thing that is coming out lf your mouth is just absurd and I you clueless when it comes to my own body and what you are feelingThen there are the ones whom act as though they dont have time for the patient and the patient suffers as a result. Thanks again to the staff at Ascension Saint Johns in Broken Arrow you are all awesome. I hope I dont ever have to go to the ER again but if the need arises i know where Ill become going.Melissa Graham 🏨😊

I was very scared when I arrived at the ER. My condition was rapidly declined over 48 hours at home. What a huge blessing to have LIsA as my nurse again!! She rapidly and calmly provided competent and proficient care. I told Lisa she was a blessing for me today. Thank you doesn’t seem sufficient. I know the ER was yerriably busy but she made me feel like I was the only patient in the department. I hope every nurse in your hospital is mentored by Lisa!! She is a genuine treasure !!

The ER doctor had the worst bedside matter. Acted as if I was inconvenience him. Didnt want to hear about my complaint and gave rude responses. When I told him I have numbness and tangling in my hand and fingers. He told me that was normal with a laceration. He didnt do anything. No xray, antibiotics. Nothing!! I cut my hand with a welding grinder and he didnt even prescribe a antibiotic and sent me back to work on full duty with sutures in my hand. Im a welder. So I refuse to go back to St. JOHNS DUE TO THIS TREATMENT. I had to go Saintfrancis the following day because swelling, redness, pain, burning in my hand and unable to bind my finger.

Not gonna lie, I had given up on St. Johns due to past experiences. This ER visit was hands down the best treatment, care, staff, wait time you name it I have EVER experienced. The worst ER visit I have ever experienced. I came in with facial swelling and facial pain and was not seen for 6 hrs. I arrived at 8:30 pm and did not leave until 3:15 am. I was only seen for less than 10 mins of the time and the rest was spent in the waiting room or just sitting in the room. The The ER doc did little to nothing to examine my concerns, acted as if my being there was an inconvenience and was annoyed that I was in the ER for those symptoms. He ran no tests and did not even try to ensure that it was not an allergic reaction I was having. They did not a single thing for my pain or to make me comfortable. I was never offered food or water, I had to request a blanket, to which they hesitantly gave me. I sat on the floor for 2 hrs of my wait time to try and rest. One man laid on the floor in pain for hours in the waiting room and not one nurse checked on him. He eventually left and was never seen. In my time of being there I saw multiple people walk out because of the wait times and the employees were not concerned about that fact. Not one employee apologized for the wait or was kind while interacting with them. It was the worse experience I have ever had in healthcare and urge everyone to use a different hospital in the area!!!

Went to the ER because my throat was so swollen I couldnt talk or even swallow. I was also worried about becoming dehydrated. We waited in the waiting room for hearly 3 1/2 hrs. Which compare to others Im sure isnt that bad of a time frame. The nurse was amazing and extremely helpful. However the doctor didnt seem to care all that much. He was very rough on my throat when feeling it. I asked him if I was dehydrated and he said I dont know. Thats all i got. They did not do any testing to as what was wrong or what I had. Just gave me injections and oral medication. And discharges me within 1 hour after being in a room. I only saw the doctor once which was the initial time. This was my worst experience ever here. Other than the nurse. I felt like my case didnt really matter and I was just getting the minimum treatment and getting sent out as fast as they possibly could. If it wasnt for the nurse this would be a 1 star rating. He was the only light in this whole experience.

I went to the ER, because I was having really bad stomach cramps and egg (sulfur) burps. My stomach was very tender. The pain was making me nay.The waiting room was full. They triaged people and sent them back to the waiting room. When they finally got to me, I was triaged and sent back to the waiting room. An hour or so later I was called back again and they put my IV in AND sent me back to the waiting room AGAIN!Once I finally was placed in a room it took an hour or more before I was given pain and nausea meds. After my CT, I given an IV antibiotic also.I felt sorry for the staff.I’m not sure what the problem was, but it was horrible. After spending 9+ Hours there, I was sent home with a UTI diagnoses that I already knew I had and a second script added to my previous. My pcp had already faxed in a script for my uti meds earlier. The UTI is gradually getting better. My stomach is still hurting, bloating and hurts to even touch.Needless to say, I was very disappointed of the care I received at St John’s BA ER.UPDATE: I could not reply to the response the hospital gave, so here is my REPLY: There is no reason for me to call the hospital. There is nothing that can change that I spent 9 hours in the ER for what was said to only be a UTI! I have 2 doctors running test on me because of my stomach pain. Some of the test could have been done the night I came to ER! Whatever is the reason I had to spend 9 hours there, it needs to be addressed. Whether it be staffing, hospital diverging, whatever! Step up your game BA!

Took mother there. The nurses and the ER doctor had no idea what a subpubic catheter was or even how to care for it. I told them what it was and what most likely needed done. 5 hours later they changed out what I suggested and it worked. The ER doctor did not even understand why a person would have one. Was very upsetting that ER staff had no clue. I understand that the hospital is not a full function hospital but if your working in an ER you should be very all rounded to handle whatever comes in the doors.

From the time we walked in to the time I walked out was about 6 1/2 hours. Seems a bit excessive for a kidney stone diagnosis. And there have been plenty of kidney stone visits to an ER to other medical locations ( for other family members during covid) that did not last more than 3 hours. The staff was kind but there seemed to be no communication from one area to another. Upon getting in a room and being told they needed to draw blood, my name and date of birth was never verified before a needle was stuck in my arm. That’s against protocol. Why is that important? Because you don’t want to be miss diagnosed with someone else’s symptoms. ALSO, I have been married for a year now and checked in with said married name and current address. Upon being asked my name and date of birth for the CT scan they called me by my maiden name. When a patient says no they then verify date of birth and address to confirm they have the correct chart and patient. Yeah they had an address from a decade ago and I had just updated it at the front desk on check in! I was in a room for so long (4 hours) I finally had to buzz the nurses station to see if someone could unhook me so I could go to the restroom and the nurse literally walked in the room and said “ oh hun you’re still here? Didn’t the dr discharge you?” What!? No. To which the NURSE tells me my diagnosis but says I’ll have to stay until the dr comes to tell me himself. Another half hour before the dr came in and said “you have a kidney stone give me a few minutes to work up your discharge.” Again wHAT?! You mean you haven’t already done that!? An hour later I am discharged. Fast forward to the next day ( after some sleep) I go to the pharmacy to pick up my meds the ER sent in and we go through the same information mix up again. The hospital sends over the wrong name, wrong address, and no insurance information!!! What!? After all the great things I heard about St John Broken Arrow and this is the experience I have I am not pleased or amused. And this coming from someone who works with patients daily. You can do so much better St John’s.

I walked in and told receptionist I need to be out by 4 to pick my 5 yr old granddaughter up at the bus stop. I went to patient area and told them the same. It was getting very close to 4 and I was still on gurney waiting for the docs return. It was an hour give or take a few minutes. I finally had to remove the items being use to assess my condition get dressed and leave. The Dr (Rasmussen)was sitting at a counter unoccupied and oblivious of what was transporting. Needless to say, I am not pleased with my visit to the er in Broken Arrow. I have heard a number of complaints about St Johns since Ascension took ownership. Too bad that patients seem to be overlooked and their needs not addressed. I would recommend process improvents be made that focus on patient care and their needs.

The ER at St. John’s need an internal evaluation. Waited an hour and half after the initial check in. No one checked on us after we were put in a stall. Did not appear over worked. My doctor called in a pain treatment so all I needed was a pain shot until the after hours prescription could be sorted out. I gone to see my regular doctor with a full house and at least was seen and checked on. I was there due to an emergency based on doctors order to keep from going into shock. We received word that a pharmacy was located where a prescription was filled during late night hours for a surgery procedure that was performed earlier in the day. We went to an Emergency Room for shortness of breath, fever like symptoms, phasing in and out, and a pain that was beyond anything I’ve experienced. No I will never return nor will I recommend this ER. The hospital side is top notch where oversight for patient service is awesome. The ER side is lacking in every aspect.
