My father stayed at kindred while rehabilitating from sepsis and knee surgery. They were very organized and always communicated all progress. We spoke to Veronica our Patient care advocate and Janice our Case manager almost daily. The care and the physical therapy were very good. They truly cared about getting the most out of his stay. All the nursing staff and the Therapist Jaime, Robert, Fernando and Jeff were right on top of his needs and advise on moving forward.Would definitely recommend!

My stay at Kindred Hospital in Brea was nothing short of the best. The entire staff works together as one team, and delivers on all of their efforts to make sure I was always taken care of.Veronica, the patient representative, did a great job of following up with all of our questions and concerns. She checked in often, to make sure everything was going as promised. Janis, our case worker, made sure to keep us informed of any and all procedures, and the moving back to my rehab. facility. The entire nursing staff that worked with me, was always personal and caring. Thank you to them for their compassion and professionalism. and lastly, my physical therapy staff that helped me get my feet back under me, and walking once again, i say thank you for all you did. Jaime, Robert, Fernando and Jeff were the best ive worked with anywhere. They were the best!I would highly recommend Kindred Brea for acute care.

I was very concerned for my mother as she had never been in the hospital for any period of time. I visited a bunch of acute and sub-acute hospitals. Kindred Brea came highly recommended by several friends of mine that are in healthcare. My mother had sepsis and pancreatitis. She had lost the ability to walk or even sit up by herself. The staff at Kindred Brea was kind. They also have an ICU with sharp doctors. The part of the hospital that was really helpful for my mother is the PT department. They came every day and my Mom quickly became comfortable with them. I highly recommend Kindred Brea and I think it is the best long term care in the area.

After suffering a stroke my sister was moved to Kindred hospital from St Jude. After spending 3 weeks on the acute side, she has just been moved to sub acute and they began working with her immediately. Everyone we have dealt with from admin to health care professionals have been great, not only taking good care of her but working with us to understand what she is experiencing and how we can help her through it. We are very pleased with the progress she is making and thank the Kindred staff for all they have done to make it possible

I am writing this review to let you all know how much I appreciated the outstanding care and services are received by your staff at kindred Brea these last 3 weeks. Every employee that I interacted with were very caring, attentive, and compassionate and literally went out of their way to make me feel comfortable during a very fearful and challenging time for me healthwise. My 1st night at Kindred Brea, my nurse Anna was so kind and patient with me. She calmed my fears in an unfamiliar place. All the staff were so attentive and helpful like Lina who went out of her way to put together a display of beautiful roses I had received. Gannon who has a great disposition for a good laugh just to mention a few, but every single person I interacted with were amazing. I highly recommend this place for anyone who needs pulmonary care. Kindred Brea you have put together a great team of employees that make patience feel valued and cared for.Sincerely, Roxanne Smith

My experience at Kindred was lifesaving. I had Covid and was at St. Jude’s hospital for 2 1/2 weeks on a High Flow Oxygen. I was transferred to Kindred and got the excellent care i needed to go home. The staff is excellent and very caring. It is scary coming into a facility and the unknown is overwhelming but each day when someone came in my room they made me feel safe and at ease. The doctors came every day and communicated with me regarding my breathing and where I needed to be in my care. The LVN staff is so caring and helpful. Diana and Elvi and Robert are amazing caregivers. The pulmonary team is awesome and I got the physical therapy in their gym I needed. Overall I would highly recommend this facility for your family member. It is scary when you have to come to a rehabilitation center but I am going home because this Kindred family.❤️❤️

Over all this place is horrible. The only reason Im giving 2 stars is because the rehab team is the most top notch and professional team weve ever worked with and a couple nurses were very kind. But there were other nurses who felt they could do whatever they wanted to my mother because the administration refuses to hold their nurses accountable for their actions. One time in particular I and another nurse witnessed a different nurse yank a pillow out from underneath my mothers shoulder which she was told was put there in order to prevent severe pain and toss it across the room because she said the pillow was making her job more difficult. I did that same job with my mom with the pillow there with no problem. This action was unwarranted, unprofessional, and she very clearly on purpose hurt my mother. We had a meeting with administration about the incident and they did nothing because quote there is no evidence of the nurse doing anything on purpose or on accident to harm her. You catch thats? Wouldve even admit to it being an accident. This is just one example of how awful they treated my mother and I during her stay there. The nurses I would give 4 out of 5 stars to. Most of them were great. But the administration I would give 0 stars if I could. Absolutely terrible management. Someone HAS to fix this hospital. Take your loved ones out now.

My husband has been at Kindred Hospital Brea over the last month, after a long stay at Mission Hospital in Orange County. When I was told we would need to move to an Acute Care Hospital setting, I was hesitant, to say the least. Well, let’s take that worry off of my shoulders. My husband is getting excellent care at Kindred Brea. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE are kind, compassionate and incredibly versed in their particular field of expertise. Kindred’s crew of Doctors, Physical Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, Speech Therapist, Wound Care, Nursing Staff, LVN’s, CNA’s and Support Staff are truly top notch. A big thanks to the cleaning crew that makes the place free of all odors, no matter where you walk in the building. Why did I chose Kindred Brea? I visited three Kindred’s and only at Kindred Brea was I welcomed in to take a tour. I purposely did not make an appointment and I was greeted by Kevin Chavez the CEO, to take a tour. He took my friend and I to every part of the hospital, proudly talking about his Doctors and Staff, explaining along the way what would happen when my husband arrived. I left there with a clear picture of my husband’s future and medical care. I remained hesitant until I experienced the reality of the care that Mr. Chavez described. His words were the truth.

I had to learn to breathe on my own, swallow, eat, and speak again. A struggle that I know wouldve been much harder without their assistance and positivity.Id especially like to give a shoutout to Amir, Francis, Amy, Ashley, Audrey, Adrianne, Adrianna, Marjorie, Robert, Jaime, and Isabela in the Therapy Room! For the most part I was pleasantly surprised by my stay at Kindred in Brea! The nurses and doctors for the most part were friendly and sensitive to my needs as a patient. They would listen to my concerns and respected my decisions when I felt I had to say “no”. They would follow up for the most part on issues at hand. Most exceptional RNs were Cheryl and Karla on night shift, Janet and Leona on day shift. Most exceptional CNAs were Robert and Nettie on night shift and on day shift: Elvie, Gannon, Diana, and Maricela. Gold star prize of all RNs and CNAs goes to Elvie CNA! 😇The PT and OT stAff were friendly and helpful, and even though some would push me further, if I wasn’t ready they always respected my limits and not push me. They always listened to see how I was doing before starting any therapy. During therapy they would check on me frequently to see how I was feeling. All the housekeeping staff were friendly and cleaned the floors daily! The beds were not comfortable, but I managed to figure out a comfortable position to sleep most nights. The food entres were “real food”... much better than St Jude’s.Of the Doctors, Dr Pheng was exceptional as my primary doctor, and went out of his way for me and changed his plans several times to adjust to my situation. The atmosphere in this hospital feels like family. A warm and friendly place! I’m for the most part happy with my experience at Kindred Hospital in Brea.

I found the curriculum superior to the nursing home I been to prior to Kindred Brea, having the same group of people around you for weeks make it seem more like family. Day shift has a great group of kids too numerous to mention. Some of staff who provided great care are Michelle RT, Rachel OTR, Jeff Rehab tech, Jaime PTA, Aileen COTA, Elvie CNA, Maricela CNA, and Gannon CNA. I also want to take Veronica the patient advocate for the time she spent with me and she has helped me. I want to shine the light to Vickie RN because she is intelligent, charming with people, takes the time to interact, and always makes time for me. Vickie is above average Nurse and we need more of her. Doctors were kind (Dr. Snow, Dr. Nguyen) Everyday visit from doctors were exceptionally pleasant. Speech Therapist Izabellla was very caring. I had a very good experience here at KIndred Brea. I would recommend this place to anybody.

Im a Covid-19 survivor !I had ARDS, Acute Respiratory Failure, Atrial Fibrillation, Global Weakness, Aphonia and bilateral Hearing Loss, all due to Covid infection. I went through about 42 medically induced coma days at St Jude ICU - Fullerton and was transferred to Kindred Subacute Transitional Care Unit/Hospital of Brea for rehabilitation.I feel blessed to be taken cared of at this Five Star Medicare-rated health facility. Im thankful to my Case Manager, Rodney, the Nursing and Respiratory Staff and most especially to the Rehab Team - Amir (Director) with Francis and Adriana. The rehab team are knowledgable in their field of specialty. The graded tasks/exercises given me were explained clearly. Every week I listened as they set and discussed therapy goals for me. Daily they assessed my improvement and offered on-the-spot corrective rehab measures and accident prevention strategies. In all the therapy sessions, they conducted themselves with patience, diligence, and utmost respect for their patients. In the rehab gym, I observed that the tasks/exercises offered to patients were patient-specific. Of significance, the team encouraged and cultivated a cheerful workplace. The rehab program is family-friendly and includes depression prevention strategies, i.e. outdoor exercises, tele-sessions (Facetime/Zoom) with family members and even painting activities. In less than three months of therapy, this rehab team transformed me from a patient with global weakness (on admission, I could hardly lift the TV remote much less change the TV channels) to one who now walks under supervision with minimal use of a walker. If I were made to rate this rehab team on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 rated as excellent and 1 rated as poor, I certainly would give them a rating of 10 !!!Without doubt, I shall strongly recommend Kindred Subacute Transitional Care Unit/Hospital for its Rehab Team to all my friends, colleagues, and acquaintances.

My son was recently discharged from Kindred Brea. I give it barely 4 stars. Positives were most of the CNA’s were good, cleaned and repositioned him in a timely manner. The RT’s were good, did not have to wait very long to have him suctioned or attended to. My issues were with the nursing staff and doctors. Many days after I arrived , unless I used the call button, I would not see a nurse for hours , again unless medication was needed to be given. One nurse gave me a hard time because I had the audacity to request to speak to his doctor. I will say that Janet on the floor was great, came to check on my son several times each day she had him. Olivia also was good. Ingrid in ICU was great also the two days she had him. Although I realize the doctors are on call, trying to speak to the doctors was very difficult, many times I requested thru the nurse to have a specific doctor call me and it rarely happened in the weeks we were there. So either the nurse did not put in the request OR the doctor(s) ignored the request. His internal medicine doctor, Dr. Farruki, was fairly good at seeing my son and conferring with me about his treatment. I will say the facility is kept pretty clean throughout.

When a parent is suffering from an illness that requires long-term acute out-of-home care, there are few things more frightening than letting go of daily caretaking responsibilities to make space for a medical team to take over and provide professional care in a hospital facility. Thankfully, our family found Kindred, Brea. The quality of attention and support has been incomparable, washing away the fear and anticipation of entrusting my fathers health to those other than our own family members. Our experience began with an impromptu in-person meeting with the CEO Kevin, who took time to answer our many questions and provide a tour (following safety protocols) through the facility. His support didnt end after my dads admission; he continues to be a first point of contact, accessible in person, via phone, and text, and even during extended hours of the day whenever we have questions or just need guidance. Nurse Vicky and Physical Therapist Coordinator Pamela have spared no amount of tender loving care to my parents. Vickys and Pamelas kindness and generosity with their time are deeply appreciated, especially during a time of great uncertainty. Physical Therapist Jaime, Jeffrey, and Robert have extended endless patience and grace in working with my dad every day to help him regain his strength, and always respecting his dignity. The wrap-around support has been of the highest caliber, exceeding expectations, and putting our worries to rest. Our family is deeply grateful for the care of Kindred Breas doctors, nurses therapists, and staff. My husband was at Kindred for more than four months, recovering from immense destruction he sustained from COVID. His is a very complex case, with numerous medical problems and supports to help him, and he came to Kindred only 4 days after waking from an almost 3 month coma. They were able to successfully decanulate him from his tracheostomy, wean him from multiple medications and supports, transition him off g-tube feeding to eating normal foods, and help him regain enough strength to move on to Acute Rehab at another facility.CEO Kevin was instrumental in assuring he received the attention his case required. All of his doctors have been amazing and very responsive and supportive. His physical therapists have been crucial to his recovery, especially Robert, Jeff, Jaime, and Veronica. Numerous nurses/LVNs/CNAs were his caretakers, and most were fantastic! We did experience a few issues with a few of them, but overall as a team the staff was attentive and helpful. We recently moved on to acute rehab to continue his recovery journey. I would like to thank all the staff for all the great care that youve given my husband. All the nurses from ICU, LTAC, SUBACUTE, have been so wonderful. They are Gods angels. The respiratory dept have an outstanding staff, theyre always on time with the treatments, they always come and check and have such a positive attitude. The speech therapist (Izabel) is so encouraging and always optimistic very supportive to my family. The Rehab dept. Amir and Frances make the rehab department a place where it can be fun, entertaining but a place that really helps out the patients and they give such great care because they have a caring heart for their patients. The housekeeping dept, dietary dept and everyone that makes Kindred Brea a place for patients to recuperate thank you from the bottom of my heart. To the Doctors, Executive Directors, CFOs, VPs and Owners. You are truly blessed to have an amazing staff. I would strongly recommend Kindred Brea. Once again, thank you for helping my husband and my family in the most difficult time of our lives.

The staff at kindred Brea treated my father in law with great care and dignity. The hospital is clean, the food seems ok, and the administrators are helpful. The pain management and PT were the highlights though, they were our main concerns but we have no complaints!

My Dad has stayed at Kindred Brea for 3 weeks and just got home. Unlike most other hospitals, Nurses, case managers and social worker Steve....are all so warm and kind. Our experience there was pleasant. Btw, they allowed caregiver to accompany my Dad 24/7, another noteworthy convenience for patients. Thank you Kindred Brea!

My son has been a patient a Kindred, Brea several times. Each time he has received excellent care. The staff ranging from nurses to aides to the speech therapist to the physical therapists are caring, professional, and competent. The hospital support staff including Social Services and case management are likewise caring, skilled and are a joy to deal with.I am fully confident that my son receives the best care when he is at Kindred. I would recomment the hospital without any reservations

I usually never take the time to write reviews, but since it was very difficult to navigate finding the right long term acute care hospital for my mother I wanted to share. My mother stared at UCLA (the 5th Best Hospital in the USA), then went to Mission Hospital and then Kindred Brea. This Kindred Hospital is amazing !! From the quality of the physicians to the nurses and care staff, I was extremely pleased!!! Coming from the UCLA is was a bit worried to start but my mother made more progress here than anywhere else. You should not hesitate in bring a loved one here. Happy to answer any one questions as I know how hard it is to find a good place for recuperation.

I feel like they placed the nurses that barely passed medical school here. None of them are able to read or follow simple direction, the building is not up to code according to my father who worked with companies and installed fire sprinklers for a living, there are two beds in a room suggesting that they can and will break the HIPAA law. I had uber deliver my father his food there and none of the nurses were willing to tell him it arrived, when he contacted them to ask about it, they told him they have no idea what happened to it, until he mentioned he was going to get law enforcements involved. They forced him to sign a paper that he cannot sue them while hopped up on some medications. Its absolutely the worst place. Do not bring ANY human being here. Chances are my father will call up the marshall and tell them the codes they are violating within that building once he comes home.

Kindred was an amazing hospital for my father to recover from a 6 month ICU stay - Trached on a feeding tube and in bed for a very long time made him weak and dependent on Oxygen. They were amazing and worked with him and our family to wean him from the ventilator, get him on his feet and eating regular. EVERYONE was fantastic!! The RNs, PTs, CNAs, Cooks and the housekeepers were all part of our team to get him home! Thank you KINDRED Sub-acute

Administration staff is very unprofessional, and tells their own staff to cut down on treatments for patients. Even their nurse practitioner had the nerve to tell the patient that they wont prescribe anymore treatments due to their disputes with your insurance.Watch out for Dr. Khabaz. Hes an Executive VP who will make medical decisions for the benefit of Kindred over your patient!

My mother was a patient here. The nurses were ok but administration and management are horrible. They promised us we can transition from LTAC to sub acute with no problems when she was ready. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. Once my moms insurance was running out for LTAC they rushed us out with little warning and the case manager “J” didnt work with us before initiating the process. They wouldnt let us stay at their sub acute because they only had x number of respitory beds. This was something they failed to tell us in the beginning. We pleaded with them and warned them it wasnt safe for my mom to leave and asked them to honor their agreement. They admitted they handled the discharge poorly but only offered a sorry. They also admitted that their reps make promises that arent true often.MY MOM DIED THE NEXT DAY AT THE NEW FACILITY. Case management here only sees patients as numbers or open beds. They have little regard on how they affect patients and families. Stay clear of Janice, ask for another case worker if you decide to go there.

US Renal provides Dialysis services to Kindred; their so Call Dr Andi head mgr of USRC was arguing loudly with Kindreds adm on moving patients so it is convenient for dialysis. Did Andi take into account the safety for patients? Did he care he was arguing in front of patients/staff:families? Ill let u decide..

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE...KEEP YOUR LOVED ONES OUT!! It has taken me one year to write this, as I am SO upset with this crappy BS poor excuse for a hospital. They are at fault for my Fathers death last year. He had an illness that required him to use a yonkers...its like a suction for spit. He used it by himself when he couldnt spit. The staff took it upon themselves to decide to take the yonkers away. My Dad died that night. By the time my Mom was called that he passed, his body was cold already. He should never have died. This is negligence. My Mom and I constantly had to keep reminding staff of what his meds should be, which should have been in notes from the Doctor...well, if he wasnt snorting some sort of white substance that remained in his nose, maybe things would have been done as they should. Nobody there gave a crap about the patients...they were too busy yacking to care. My Dads call button was on the floor every time we came in...nobody cared but us. We figured out he was not being properly cleaned and bathed either. It was just a nightmare and I would NOT recommend this place to anyone you care about. Please DONT go here!! Other people have had similar experiences...they dont care about you and the initial walkthrough is BS...all lies. You will HAVE to stay by your family members every minute or they will not make it. Choose elsewhere.

My mother was in this hospital a week ago and they treated her very well, the nurses were attentive and even the cleaning girls greeted me when I visited. The doctors answered my questions and it was a good experience. Thanks to the administrator for his help and thanks to the hospital for helping my mom
